I cannot believe how good this food was! I grew up in the area and was going to David's Catfish House as a child and teen because at the time there were so few restaurant options. I probably haven't eaten there in 25+ years. I was looking for a drive thru and also craving crab claws, which are hard to come by in Texas. I read the reviews and wasn't expecting much from this Express Location. And TBH, the service wasn't great. They were slow to answer at the drive thru and had zero affect. But the food was out of this world. Awesome cheese grits, above average coleslaw and meaty claws in a tasty batter. Claws were market price, so not affordable but that's to be expected. I ordered this plus an iced tea and cheesecake and it was about $40. Please save your money on the cheesecake. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce are shelf brand, not made in house. I take no major issue with that but it's worth noting. By far the best you are going to get if looking for seafood drive-thru. It's a little run down, but who cares? read more

David's Catfish House Express leans more towards the fast casual business style that places like Chipotle has turned into a successful busuness model. The food is decent and the prices are good. There's really nothing fancy about this place oh, but that's okay. In fact I usually prefer a place to be a little more hole in the wall type place when looking for some fried fish. The prices are good, as is the food. I would definitely recommend this establishment. read more

They have real good cat fish . Let's get that right ! But I have never seen a seafood restaurant . Give people 5 shrimp instead of 6 in my whole life . That's a bit cheap-o ! The last time I went to the restaurant on 98 in Daphne . A young boy was slinging the F word around . The I guess manager a heavy set woman was saying the A word . The young girl at the window was looking iffy . When I got my order which cost over 20. The banana pudding had a piece of something brown rubbery stuck in it . Looks like it was put there on purpose . Didn't get to see it until I got home . If you ask for extra tartar sauce they look at you like you committed a crime. I will not go back there ever again . the manager was very rude when i politely asked him if they fry in peanut oil (highly allergic). he could have politely said yes mam we do or yes we do but he very rudely said we fry everything in peanut oil!& turned around and walked away! i ate a grilled chicken salad which was ok, not great but filled the hollow spot. read more

In Fairhope for work. Opted for David's for dinner. 100s across the board. The young man working the register was extremely nice. My food was made fresh so I told him I would wait in my car for it. He offered & brought it to me. By the time I got back to my hotel, I only had shrimp & fries left, I had eaten all the catfish on the 10-15 minute drive back. Take out order from drive up. Ordered 5 piece catfish basket with turnip greens, no drink. $12.99 on FB menu. Received Shrimp and Catfish combo with fried okra and sweet tea. $17.78 see receipt. Ordered dinner for myself and my wife thru Door Dash. Catfish and Shrimp combo, Popcorn Shrimp basket, and side of Onion rings. The Catfish was way over cooked, the Popcorn shrimp was like eating breaded rubber balls, the fries were soggy, the Onion Rings were tough (how you can make an Onion ring tough is a puzzlement), and the Hushpuppys were dry! No sauce, either cocktail, or tarter was included. We have eaten at Davids in Spanish Fort many times, and it has always been great. This experience ruined our dinner and our views on this express business. read more

Food is good to very good. Drive thru is not always accurate. Sometimes missing items (they owe me cole slaw x3). Sometimes don't get what I ordered (get fried okra instead of correct sides). My large order recently was perfect. So they get 5 stars for improvement. read more

This place is the definition of mid. I've spotted it a few times driving down to the nearby Walmart, so I got curious and decided to give them a try. I pulled up to the drive-thru speaker, placed my order, and pulled up behind the one other vehicle there, who after a few minutes, pulled off without ever receiving their food. My next red flag was seeing 2 hand-written signs telling people to check their orders before they leave and that if they have a complaint, they only have 1 day to have it rectified. Anyway, I had ordered a catfish basket with fried okra and a frozen strawberry lemonade. The catfish and okra were pretty bland, but the strawberry lemonade was pretty flavorful, though it was probably mostly high fructose corn syrup. This is the south, so I don't expect to come across brand seafood anywhere, even if it's from a drive-thru. Please do better read more

We went on a Saturday and got there around 11:45. We ordered fried green tomatoes for starters, they came out pretty quickly and hot. The actual taste and texture is what you would expect from something that comes out of a deep fryer. Nothing special. I ordered the catfish Po-boy and the catfish filet was small, the sub roll was right out of the bag it came in. It had tomato and lettuce, way over priced for what I got. Maybe I should order a different item if I go again, but for the 1st trip there I was not impressed. read more

Overpriced food with below standard service. I ordered a Po'Boy and was told that they were out of bread but could have a sandwich so I ordered a sandwich meal instead. I was still charged for a Po'Boy. After waiting at the window for 10 minutes a young lady took my card and handed me the food. We love the catfish at David's but after driving 10 miles one way on 4 different visits we have not received what we paid for all 4 times. Tonight's visit on 2 dinners we did not receive coleslaw or fried okra, or turnip greens with either order. They also were out of tarter sauce which is ridiculous for a seafood place. The hush puppies were tasteless and fries soggy. There was no one ahead or behind us in the drive through and with 3 people standing in the window and the girl repeating it back to me there is no reason to get a $33 food order this wrong. Just close the location and concentrate on the main restaurant, this location is hopeless and will ultimately affect the reputation of both. read more

I have been there several times and they have never been open. They close at 6:30 they say on their sign but at 5:45 pm they were locked up tight. This has been 3x. The one time we received food it was delicious and highly recommended but to close before you're scheduled seems bad for business. read more

The catfish I received was mush, similar to the mayonnaise soup (that falsely impersonated coleslaw) I was given. I honestly didn't taste the food once I saw it, and its textures. Customer service and affordability were the only redeeming factors. Personally not for me, but I'm sure many people would still love it. read more

I stopped into the drive-thru at David's Catfish House Express this morning for the first time...and was thoroughly impressed with the whole experience! The 3 pc. catfish basket was great...the catfish was perfect, piping hot and so delicious! I immediately fell in love with the fresh, hot hush puppies and excellent cole slaw as well! It's a fantastic alternative to most fast food options, for a comparable price...I'll definitely be back often! read more
