I had some coworkers tell me about this place maybe a year or so ago. They told me some really good things so I definitely wanted to try it when I had a chance. That chance was when I took the day and decided to drive to Daphne. It was around lunch time and Champy's was busy. I went to the register and the woman there gave me a menu. I decided to sit at the bar. There wasn't a lot of deciding I needed to do with the menu. I knew I wanted fried chicken and this was a fried chicken restaurant. I got the 2 piece with baked beans and potato salad. From what I can tell the restaurant had a very friendly environment. The waitstaff brought me my food in a very timely fashion. I tasted my side dishes first and they were really good. I remember the baked beans being very hot temperature wise. The chicken was what I made the trip for and I wasn't disappointed. The chicken was so crunchy and the batter they made it with had a little kick to it. It wasn't spicy but it had a noticeable flavor. I enjoyed every bit of it. The ambiance inside is okay as the furniture and placements are a little uncomfortable, but the food and service both make up for it. It was our first time visiting for most of our party, and we all loved our meals. It happened to be on Trivia Night, so we played for fun in honor of someone close to us--and we won! Such a fun night. Amongst the six of us, we had ordered the tamales (appetizer), chicken wings, fried chicken (of course), chicken tenders, and catfish. All sides received high praise too, especially the mac'n'cheese. It was a wonderful time coming together, commemorating Laurie, eating great food and sharing great memories. So we went to Mobile today and were looking for good fried chicken. This place showed us on our search and we were only about 10 minutes away so we checked it out. The inside is like a roadhouse with checkered tablecloths. The beer list is pretty good and the service quick and friendly. I had the two piece dark and my fiancé had the half chicken. We were greeted and prompted to sit anywhere we wanted. It is a laid back, relaxed diner with a bar and tv's for watching sports. Our server immediately gathered our drink order and returned to take our order. I had the 3 piece wing plate and my friend had the 2 piece white plate. I got some gas close by at Walmart, did a search on Yelp for highly rated places for a bite to eat, and Champy's popped up there in the Top 5. I thought this place was a local establishment, but turns out it's a chain throughout AL and TN (I was told). Needless to say I was really impressed with this place, it was a delightful experience. This place has a bar inside with some TVs too, and the bar was pretty busy at 2pm on this day. Seemed like most everyone knew each other. The server came by and gave me a menu, I opted to take the sample route - ordered the the 2 piece dark chicken with 2 sides, and the 3 piece chicken tenders w/ fries. They have 5 or 6 sauces here so I just asked her if I could try all of them - no problem! And no extra charge too - kudos! Tenders came out first w/ fries, I ate one of them and I gotta say - wow - those tenders are awesome. They are large, good quality chicken, crispy hot too, well seasoned. I was really impressed, probably some of the best tenders I've had since I can recall. I like these way better than my usual Chick Fil-A. As far as the betty of sauces - the ranch is made in-house - it's the best. 2nd place is the BBQ, and 3rd would be the honey mustard. Those were my Top 3. Didn't care much for the Champy's sauce, the Buffalo was solid. I really liked the french fries here too, I think there's a slight seasoning on them and they give you plenty in the to-go box. The fried chicken takes longer to cook - but I'm good with that. When it came out it was really hot, got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy plus beans. Both the sides were really good, the fried chicken was a hit I tell ya. It was crispy flaky coating and tasted really good, great quality, rivals the Fried Chicken I had recently at Monell's in Nashville. I was really pleased with my experience here. The customer service was great - she was attentive and nice, patient in explaining the menu to me. She got me to-go boxes right away. Both dishes were really good - in quality and taste. By far THEEEE BEST fried chicken and tenders in the area. Their mac and cheese is to die for. Homemade sauces and ranch. They also have a full bar. Only complaint is they put the white bread under the chicken and it makes it all soggy. I've only done take out here so it might be done differently in house. read more

Okay, it was my first time ever hearing about or even seeing this restaurant. Let's get into it, that fried chicken is fire , idk who recipes they stole for the chicken, but yea. BUT the sides were soooooooooo bland. No meat in the baked beans, only the beans and some green peppers, baby do better. And that macaroni and cheese had too much of something and not enough salt and pepper. The servers acted like they didn't see me STANDING IN FRONT OF THEM for like 10 minutes, which was rude and unprofessional and ultimately may be my reasoning for not returning.
