My fiancé went to David's Bridal in January to find her wedding dress. She had a wonderful young lady that helped her find the perfect dress. The young lady informed her that David's Bridal has an alteration department and that they could do her alterations for $150. My fiancé was thrilled and decided to do her alterations there. She made an appointment and waited a month for her dress to arrive. During her alteration appointment they told her it would be $319 for all the alterations she wanted (she was getting her dress hemmed, sides tucked in, belt added, and bra cup added). Two days before she had to pick up her dress, she received a call from the alterations department saying she needed to pay $160 more for her dress to be hemmed. We asked to speak to the manager to get to the bottom of this. Melany, the alterations manager, was not apologetic and only cared about being right. She admitted they made a mistake but that she wasn't going to be able to do anything about it unless we payed. She said if we payed $160 she would not charge us the rush fees to have the dress ready on the day we had originally scheduled. We decided not to get the dress hemmed because we don't trust them to be honest about their prices. My fiancé picked up the dress today and then had to take it to another alterer to get it the way she wanted. After doing some research on this location, we came to the conclusion that this is the way David'sBridal does business. They have done this to multiple customer and don't care about it. MARISSA is a prime example of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I walked through the door and she could not be bothered to look up. I had to be the one to greet her and (never looking at me) she simply asked what I needed, I gave her my name and number and she walked away without a word to grab my bridesmaid dress. She handed me a wrinkled mess and I asked if the dress could be steamed she very rudely responded that they only provide a steam with alterations. Note, other bridesmaids that received their dresses before me received a complimentary steam (thus exceptional service) because the dresses are clearly not in the best shape. Being a good Maid of Honor, I made reservations for our dress search at David's Bridal for 12:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. I'm a veteran about these bridesmaids outing and I knew how busy it gets so I wanted us to have our space reserved... We arrived early and the girl in the front was really sweet :) She wrote our names on pink hearts that were used as labels for our dressing rooms. I really liked her!! Too bad she wasn't the consultant we worked with... Our consultant was not ready for us yet so we browsed through the dresses. We were just looking at styles because we knew we could have them made in any color... Then SAMANTHA... comes along... and she introduces herself... She did not ask about what style we wanted or what our preferences were. She just asked us what size and grabbed a bunch of dresses for us to try... She did not give us the attention we deserve... I made a reservation to ensure my consultant would give us their full attention!! She went off for a while and when she came back, she looked at me and asked if I liked the dress... BEFORE I COULD REPLY SHE TURNED AND STARTED TALKING TO HER ASSOCIATE!! how rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then... .... she turned back to us... and I honestly answered her question and expressed how I did not like it... and she goes, "YOU'RE PICKY!" WOWWWWWWW!!! This was the THIRD dressed I tried on... and I have been to places where I've tried on waaaaaayyyyy more with no one making such rude remarks to me!! In search of a First Communion dress! Came in looking for flower girl dresses because I got this crazy idea that maybe a flower girl dress in white will work as a First Communion dress! Well I couldn't tell! Why? Well the selection was slim and what they did have was not easy on the eyes! There was this one style that wasn't flattering or cute in anyway but they sure had it in any color you could think of! There were a few veils to choose from and when I say a few I mean three or four! The one thing I liked was that they have shoes! In case, I can't find them elsewhere I'll know where to go! The ladies were nice but not helpful! I didn't get a welcoming feeling when I walked in the store! I wandered around looking at the gowns and wedding dresses and not once did they offer to help! What if I was there for a big purchase? As my engagement was recently made public in social media, I still had to find a special way to tell my mom. Although I have not yet purchased a dress nor have I really looked around, I wanted to surprise my mom in an extreme manner. You see, I'm her only daughter and the first grandchild to get married in our immediate family. That being said, arbitrarily telling her my news just would not suffice. Fortunately, one of my friends had plans of getting married later this year and I was one of her bridesmaids. I had this devious plot to bring my mom to David's to "try on bridesmaids dresses" for that wedding . I was going to try on a few dresses, have her take photos, just to reel her in real good, then I would eventually come out in a gorgeous gown and break the news to her. I called the store well ahead of time to tell them of my plans. Not only were all these wonderful ladies willing to help me, they were pretty excited too. The whole staff had known, and were totally in on scheme. They had my dress of choice already set up and totally helped me all along the way. On the day of my surprise, everything worked out better than I had hoped. Not only did I surprise my mom into hysterical tears of joy, my best friend cried while taking pics and well...everyone else in the store was sobbing! Being so close to where I live, this was the first place that came to mind when trying on different wedding dresses. I had NO idea what type of dress would look good on my hour glass body type. They had no problems taking in appointments to come in that day to try on some dresses. I had saved some dresses I liked after browsing through davids bridal website. When I went into the store, they were happy to print out all the saved info and bring me the dresses to try on. The store is well organized and clean. The dressing room isn't fancy but does have a full large mirror. They provide you with a corset, skirt liner and shoes to make sure that you look your best in the dress. After trying on couple of the dresses, I found one dress that I really liked. Unfortunately, the price tag was right within my budget but would easily go over after adding the $450 alternations, $150 veil, $100 hair accessory and the corset. Couple days later I came back to try on some more dresses only to realize that there wasn't any dress that made me feel like this is THE ONE. The person that was helping me had no idea which dress made me look my best either. She only asked for my own personal opinion and began to push the idea of walking out the door with a dress in my hand. After overcoming some of the aggressive sales pitch, I happily walked out the door without a dress in my hand and high hopes that I'll find THE dress in the near future. If you are on a strict budget and need a dress for under $400, this is the place for you. They carry an abundance of dresses for as little as $100. However, if you can spend over $500 just for the dress, you may or may not find that right dress you are looking for. Also, this isn't the best place for those picky "I only want Vera Wang" type of dresses. 4 stars for the salespeople here who will do anything and everything to sell you a dress! I can appreciate the fact that this is a great place for any bride who is on a budget. Dresses here can be as low as $100 and they go up to approximately $1,000 for the higher end Vera Wang gowns. They have a decently wide selection between three designers, although they mostly only carry David's Bridal brand. Personally, I made the mistake of going to more fancy boutiques before coming here, which definitely influenced me for the worst! After trying on high-quality dresses, everything I tried on here just paled in comparison. I could tell that the quality was cheaper and I hated the way most of the gowns fell on me. They were definitely not the most figure-flattering and they had extremely large skirts, which is just not my personal taste. Katie was my consultant and was very sweet and chirpy! Unfortunately, it was so difficult for me to find a good gown here that she had to move onto helping another person while I was still there. I later learned that that is pretty common for DB, but it was a bit frustrating having to wait for her to come back. At the end of my appointment, I finally just took off the gown on my own and told her I had to leave, since we were pressed for time at that point. I would definitely recommend coming to DB's if you're: on a budget, not that picky, haven't tried on fancier dresses elsewhere, don't care too much about attentive customer service or that personalized experience, and if you have people in your bridal party who reside in another state, etc. Oh yeah... WARNING: David's Bridal also SELLS your information, so whatever you do... give them a fake email address, phone number, etc! I've been engaged since January, and neither of us really want to plan much of anything, so we decided to have a quick wedding in two weeks. I need a dress ASAP. My future sis in law wanted to take me dress shopping, and the first place she took me was David's Bridal. We arrived without an appointment and had to wait about 40 minutes. No big deal. I am super simple, don't want anything fancy. Don't want a big ass ball gown, don't want to look like a Disney princess. I was looking more at bridesmaids dresses than the actual wedding gowns. To be completely honest, they had some pretty gowns if I was into that, but I thought most of their bridesmaids dresses were ugly. Anyway, I found one I liked. Finally it was our turn, the chick who "helped" me seemed over it from the get go. Maybe once she knew I wasn't somebody who was going to spend a ton of money on a dress she didn't care. I don't know. I told her what dress I liked, she brought it to me along with a few others that were similar. Of course the one I liked they only had in one size too small and two sizes too big. She said there was no way to get another size for me, it would take 27 weeks, and I only have 2. Okay. Everything else she brought me I didn't really like. She kept pointing out that I would have to buy off the rack since I waited until the last minute (yeah, I get it) and when I asked about adding sleeves to one of the dresses she told me David's Bridal is contractually obligated to not alter any of the dresses. WHAT?? In their dressing room it says they can do whatever you ask, my sis in law had sleeves added to hers when she got married 5 years ago, and on their website it says: Sleeves: We can add straps or sleeves to any strapless gown. See our Sleeve Options section. After bringing me maybe 10 dresses, she just gave up. She asked me how I liked the last one I tried on, I said I didn't, she said "Okay, well, I'm sorry I couldn't help you, good luck" and walked away!! RUDE!! Isn't it up to ME to decide I am done? I had a lot of reservation about David's Bridal. Seeing all the mixed reviews here was a bit unsettling, too. But I was desperate. My wedding was only 2 months away. I was able to make an appointment within the next 2 days. Katie was my consultant and she was very pleasant and friendly. I told her what I was looking for but they didn't have them in stock. She asked me what my budget was. Shen then picked out about 4 gowns and suggested that I tried them. One of them seriously was not my style at all but it turned out it fit me so well! This update is Alterations department only and I would like to give them only 1 star but I'm very happy with Joana's (store manager) professional way of handling the issue. Wedding was in July, got my dress in October, schedule to have alteration fitting in May, and scheduled to pick it up in June. Made an appointment for May and went in and the young lady that works back there was very helpful and nice. Elena- I'm not even sure where to begin. She is the manager of this department and I can't believe she is. My first fitting, she was busy- going back and forth and then making the young lady go to lunch because otherwise they get penalized. I bought my alterations package when I bought the dress- all I needed to get altered was the hem, cups, chest area, bustle (which we paid extra for because we added 3 buttons) and one of the buttons that fell out from the back of my dress (so we asked all to be re-sewed). Elena spent so much time with pinning the chest area- I honestly don't know what she was doing but she kept saying I've been doing this for 30 years blah blah blah. When I came back to pick it up, she told me to call her to make sure she'll be in, which I did. What should've been a quick tryon and pick-up, turned out to be 2 and a half hours of mainly waiting and complete dissatisfaction. We got there for a 3 o'clock appointment when she was finishing up with a different customer. We weren't seen by her until 3:15, she saw me for 3 minutes and said she had to go to lunch. Um, what? Then why did we make the appointment. So she goes to lunch for 30 minutes while I wait in my wedding dress that I was already unhappy about- because she did NOTHING to my chest area that she spent so much time pinning, button that fell wasn't sewed back on (probably means she didn't re-sew any of the other buttons), and my bustle was too high. She comes back and I tell her everything and says she can fix then and there and asks if I'm picking it up then. Of course I'm picking it up- it's a few weeks before my wedding. She started working everything one at a time- I changed 4 times in and out of the wedding dress. She talked down on me using words "honey" in a very condescending way- I am a customer, not a kid and I paid for this service, which she made it seem like she was doing me a favor. When she finally finished the bustle, I realized she took out the buttons that I paid for and asked her if I would be reimbursed for that and she said she was compensating me for all the work she did that day. Shoot- compensating the customer for the work I paid for her to do a month back- can you believe that? Waited for what felt like forever, completely unhappy with the work she did, which I paid for! Then she proceeded to make me sign the paperwork and literally walked us out of the store so we would leave. I was not an unpleasant customer- I went home, thought about the whole thing and called the store manager who was completely apologetic and very understanding. Yes, I am one of thousands of customers, but I have one wedding and one wedding dress- to me, this wedding dress is the only wedding dress that I'll be wearing so to treat me this way, was unacceptable because it is her job, especially as the alterations manager to make sure I have the best experience. I wasn't happy with the chest area- I use tape to affix the entire front to my chest on my own. Also, the cups were sewn so badly I had to take both of them off and re-sew them on my own and they looked and felt so much better. April 28th, 2013; Sunday It's been a long break since I have written, so here we go! Make up session! I arrived to David's Bridal for the very first time. My friend, the Bride-to-Be, wanted us, the Brides Maids, to try on and hopefully decide on dresses to wear to her wedding come August 2013. So, we got there early to the store. The store, promptly, opens exactly at 12-noon. Right when we got there, there were lots of ladies already waiting to get in. WOW...I know wedding planning is stressful, but just picking out a dress is CRAZY stressful. Anyway, we tried on dresses and it was fun, DUH! I mean, who/what lady doesn't like to dress up in pretty little dresses? Carrying on, I was impressed how the lady that was handling our stuff was able to find our sizes at times, but the dresses...I got a dress that wouldn't zip up because the fabric was somehow stuck. Then one of our friend got her dress stuck, too. And then another one afterwards. In the end, we spent two hours trying one five dresses. Sad to say, we didn't find a winner yet, due to the fact that we couldn't decide on A dress. If only dress shopping were that easy.... In the end, the lady that were supposed to help us through the dress shopping wasn't so helpful. She wasn't there when we needed her, she wasn't there to help with the input and in the end....we decided to make an appointment with the David's Bridal in Montclair. Tonight we had the best experience with our stylist Andrea S!!! My daughters and I our hard to please and when it comes to picking out a movie or where to eat we just can't agree. My oldest daughter said Yes to her dress and all thanks to Andrea. She was so patient, easy going and friendly. We never felt rushed. We didn't feel pressured at all. She let us take our time and in the end everything felt perfect. We gave my daughter such a hard time on some of the dresses and Andrea just laughed. Checking out was fast, clear, and easy. I had a really great experience here shopping for bridesmaids dresses. We checked in with the lady at the front of the store to let her know that we had an appointment. She quickly referred us to a sales associate who was very attentive during our entire time at the store. I think her name was Dayna. She was awesome! We had no idea what the color schemes of the wedding would be. But after about 10 minutes of comparing and contrasting different color swatches, we figured out what colors the bride wanted!!! Soon after that, we went looking for the style of the dress and the accessories we wanted to build on it. Dayna brought out different style dresses in different sizes. She found everything for us and let us know her honest opinion. After we figured out the dresses, we moved on to the shoes. They have shoes that you can dye to match the dress!!! David's bridal thinks of everything! To make things more complicated, the bride has bridesmaids in different states so we werent able to get measured and fitted all at the same time. To make things super convenient, we were told each bridesmaid could get fitted at the nearest David's Bridal location closest to them. All they'd have to do is tell the store the name of the bride and wedding date and they'd be able to figure out which style dress, shoes, and color the bride wanted the bridesmaid dress to be! Then after the dresses were ordered, each bridesmaid can go into the closest store to pick up the items ordered! So easy!!! And Dayna was the one that entered all the info for us in their system AND she called the Chicago store for me so I didnt have to do anything except pick up the dress. I would highly recommend to NEVER come to this location of David's Bridal! We had an absolutely terrible experience here today. We came to shop for a First Communion dress for my daughter. We were not offered assistance by any employee or even approached to ask if we needed help. Fortunately, there was a good selection of dresses available and we were able to find an available fitting room on our own. We did find a dress that my daughter liked for a reasonable price. There was a complete absence of any regard for customer service at this store location. We noticed a very long line when had chosen a dress but hoped for the best that the line would move relatively quickly. We couldn't have been more wrong! There were many employees working, we saw at least 10, but only 1 cashier despite the fact that there was another register available and a lot of customers waiting to check out. It was especially frustrating to see plenty of employees standing around chatting who could have easily opened a second register. After waiting for 20 minutes to pay for the dress we had selected, I approached an employee who was standing at the register that was not in use and asked if it was possible to open that register as we had been waiting a long time to check out. I was told no, there was no apology for the wait at all, just no. Finally, after waiting for 35 minutes to purchase the dress, the second register was opened and we were able to buy the dress. It was crazy to watch this business being so poorly and inefficiently run with complete disregard for customer service. We had a great experience coming to David's Bridal. The bridal consultant was very friendly and helpful was very considerate of our budget and asked my friend many questions like what style she preferred she originally had asked for a mermaid style dress but let my friend try on many different styles like ball gown lace non lace and even though we didn't purchase a dress she let us photograph all the dresses and she did find one that she liked but we still decided to shop some more. Wedding isn't for a few more months, but I'm not a procrastinator, and, luckily, my bridal party is pretty cool and supported me in trying on dresses. I set up an appointment online, which was easy-peasy. Once you set up the appointment online, they email you a confirmation a few days later to make sure that you are still arriving. If you cancel, they ask for (I believe) at least 48 hours notice, and you'll probably have to call the store. So, came in on a Sunday at 11am. Met with the bridal consultant, who was really pleasant to work with. She asked about the date, the wedding colors, what type of dress I'd like, what color of the dress, sashes on the dress, budget, veil/hairpiece, etc. I eventually tried out around 7 dresses in the end, where I was heavily debating on the last dress. While she was very helpful throughout the ordeal, it was obvious that she was getting annoyed. I did find out that consultants do get commission off the dresses, and because of how busy the weekends are, she basically was wasting her time with me. She was still very professional, but her smiles were wavering quite a bit when she realized how indecisive I was becoming. I don't know, maybe it's me, but if I'm spending a lot of money on one piece of clothing that is not going to be worn often, I would like to make sure it's something that looks good on me and is fair for the price. In the end, she's not the one to blame and she was super helpful in giving me an idea of what I want in a dress, but I feel guilty that she didn't make a sale from me. Another thing to note is that because the weekends are crazy busy for David's Bridal, you, as a bride, may see other girls successfully finding their dress. If you're a strong person, good for you. If you're one that is easily embarrassed about your situation, then you may feel pretty dejected when seeing people around you ringing those bells that signifies that they've found their dress. What I do like is that David's Bridal (on their website) does note that those who prefer crowds and lots of hullabaloo will have fun on a weekend dress shopping, but those that prefer a more private event should arrive on a weekday. So, after learning the hard way, I may come back to the store again on a weekday, and definitely not on a weekend when commission is on the minds of some of the consultants... She also took down my budget, but she tacked on a couple more hundred to it, and had me really like a dress that was out of my budget... :/ Oh well... Parking's not too bad. There's a dollar store nearby, and Paper Wonders (wedding invitation store) is very close if you want to browse. read more

I usually don't write review but this is something that unacceptable. I ordered a dress on sale and received a used, dirty dress. When I opened the box I can see stains everywhere! It's unbelievable. The website did not say it is a store sample or a second hand, so I would expect a brand new dress. I brought to return at the store in Brea, CA and the manager, Jasmine, said you bought this dress with a good price so it is clearance, it is a store dress. That means MANY people tried on and they don't even bother to clean it up to sell?! WOW! Really?! Not even a sorry but told me just because I got it at a good price so I should expect a dirty, wore out dress?! I bought on sale dresses before but none of them receive in such condition like this. I'm speechless! I thought DB is a big store and would treat customers better! So future brides: save time and go buy somewhere else with clean dress and better customer service! read more

I never wanted to buy my wedding dress at David's Bridal. I went to try on dresses to figure out what type of dress I wanted before venturing out on my own, but accidentally fell in love with a dress while I was there. Of course, it was on sale and was extremely in my price range, so I bought it. The alterations were hectic and traumatizing, but everything turned out well in the end. The crazy head seamstress that works at this location (Elena) is a whiz with the needle, but is one of the most insane human beings I have ever encountered. Dealing with her makes this almost not worth it. I had to make approximately 3 trips more than I was initially told for fittings and such, which was a pain since it wasn't very close to where I work and they always scheduled me at 4pm so I had to leave work early. I also bought a "poofy" gown, which I had purchased without wanting a petticoat due to it's being so supported already by itself. Somehow, the seamstress convinced me to buy a petticoat, and when I had time later that evening to let that sink in, I was angry (they have a strict no return or exchange policy on undergarments, and this was ~$140). After some pleading, I convinced the manager to let me exchange it for in store merchandise which was better than nothing. I ended up using it to buy my veil, some crappy jewelry (not for the wedding), and some squishy things to stick in my shoes. I was mostly frustrated that every time I went to a fitting, they would tell me that the next time I came back it would be ready and I could take it home. When I would show up, the dress would not be ready and we had to do more fittings without them telling me ahead of time. I missed a lot of work because of this. In addition, she told me to bring someone to train on how to do the bustle, so I brought my sister 3 separate times before she actually had the bustle ready for her to button up. My sister had to rearrange her schedule and drive down from school in LA just to accompany me, and twice for no reason. This was extremely rude on the part of the staff as well as inconsiderate. read more

Samantha absolutely rocked it today! After having spent many hours and going to many different shops, including a different David's bridal I finally found my wedding dress!! Not only was Sam super attentive but she was also super sweet and helpful Also have to shout out Bianca behind the desk for being super cool and helping us check out Definitely the best Davids Bridal around! It truly hurts to see all the wonderful reviews, when I didn't receive the same treatment. I booked this appointment through a bridal expo and it was my first experience trying on dresses and it was a terrible one. It has made me discouraged going anywhere. My MOH and I showed up 10 minutes early and the receptionist was very rude and cold, she lacked personality. She told us to look around. I choose 2 dresses I was interested in, finally 8 minutes after my appointment time my "stylist" came over, not very personable either. Long story short I never tried on the dresses I was most interested, my stylist left in the middle of my appointment to help her next appointment and I still had 15 minutes left. Then another girl rudely got me out of the dress I had on and my stylist came back and said she got sidetracked and forgot about me because of her next appointment (who says that!) I was irritated and just wanted to leave. I went home crying to my fiancé how terrible it all was. read more

My wife bought a bridesmaid's dress here. She brought it home a couple of weeks ago, and since then it has hung in our closet untouched. She never actually pulled it out or tried it on at David's Bridal because it was an unaltered dress. She pulled it out today with two weeks to go before the wedding, and it's exceedingly wrinkled. I am sure this has nothing to do with the closet. I called them today and asked if they could 1) steam it for me, or 2) cover the steaming of it elsewhere. The attendant, Chastity, said she'd check. She came back and told me that they could steam it--for a $15 fee. I suggested that it should be free since it was their doing. Her response is the reason for this rating. She told me that they only steam dresses that are altered by David's Bridal, and since it was an unaltered dress, though purchased from David's Bridal, it NEVER received a steaming, and they would not do it. So I asked if I had just pulled a dress down from the rack, wanted it in an unaltered state, and it was wrinkled, they wouldn't steam it? She answered "Nope," to which I said "That is preposterous. I think you should pay for the wrinkles created at the location." She says, "It's not MY policy." That's just bad business. Too bad there aren't other major options that bridesmaids could use; it might enhance DB's customer service. read more

A couple of weeks ago a small group of us went to try on bridesmaid dresses. Our overall experience started off good with Amanda, but it was clear that she was spread thin. After she pulled some dresses for us, she was helping at least two other wedding parties that I saw. In the meantime, there was a lot of time wasted as we waited for her or tried to track her down. It was extremely cramped by the two dressing rooms we had. The different wedding parties kept bumping into each other with the doors and it was hard to look in the mirrors as everyone kept shuffling around like Tetris so people could get by. Another employee, possibly the manager, was more attentive than Amanda, as she checked on us and offered to zip up dresses. Before we were done, the bride asked to see a belt and Amanda disappeared for quite some time. We got tired of waiting so we told the ladies at the front we would be leaving and to let Amanda know she didn't need to look for the belt any more. As we were walking out, Amanda sped past us and said she was going to lunch. Another bridesmaid lives out ot state and went to try on dresses at a later time. Amanda told us all of our information would be inputted into the computer; the bride just needed to call and confirm the color once she decided. The out-of-state bridesmaid calls us and says the David's Bridal she was at said that she was the first person to try on dresses. NONE of our information was in the system, so she had no idea what any of us had chosen as we all selected different styles. Overall a sub par experience and it created unnecessary stress for the bride-to-be. read more

Customer service is awesome and the consultants are super nice and helpful. I had to wait a while since I didn't make an appointment (~20 min). Anyway, Samantha was the name of the consultant who was assigned to me and she was wonderful! She helped me measure my size and got me the dresses I wanted to try on. She kept checking back on me in between my fittings to ask if I needed any help. The dresses themselves are really nice! There's a chart you can look at to see which style you like. The consultant would usually help you find the one you want to try on if you're like me who had a hard time finding the dress that I wanted. Overall, I was really satisfied with my experience. Customer service is amazing and the dresses are really nice :) I wish the clothes rack was a little more organized, but as said before, the consultants will help you if you needed it. read more
