When it didn't, the lead seamstress complained about how much work it would be to alter the dress and half-pinned it. When I asked her to make it tighter she flat out said "no". Customer service was absolutely awful. I came in to get sized and possibly look at dresses and I had to go find someone to help me put on a dress. I wanted to look at and I ended up just ordering the one online because she didn't size me she didn't even try to help me. I didn't have anybody there to help me as far as family or friends. We were told by a person behind the counter that our appt was at 3 and staff member should be here shortly. Then the person I thought was a customer spoke up and said she was off but would show us where the dresses and dressing room was. So she did. We picked out several dresses. Tried them on and left by 310....with no one checking on us or assisting us at all. There were no other customers in the store when we arrived or when we left. Purchased prom dress, manager told me we could return, returned on 4/19 found out then I would get a check in the mail in 21 days (per associate at desk, I should have known and read my receipt - I wouldn't have paid cash had I known ahead, wouldn't matter if I read my receipt... it was after the fact). Contact Davids Bridal 82nd street where I returned dress, they took my information down and a week later, I called back and spoke with a different person. She informed me she would contact corporate and let me know. Date was 5/19 when I should have received a check, as of 5/28 Davids bridal corporate informed me that check had a stop payment processed and it went thru as check hasn't been cashed... (obviously). They said they would resend a check, I asked for it to be expedited and was told no. It is 6/2, and since 5/28, Davids bridal corporate will not respond to any communication. 82nd street location continues to say "we don't have an update". The dress was $258, Davids Bridal HAS the dress yet I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY MONEY THEY PROMISED TO PAY 21 BUSINESS DAYS... Again... returned on 4/19.. it is 6/2 and still no check!!!!! read more

This place needs to clean house and fire their whole alterations department. They have zero knowledge of which dresses can be let out vs having to be taken in. No awareness of time frames. Worst of all they BUTCHER your dress out of pure laziness and incompetence. Alice who while is very kind and sweet has zero realistic knowledge of how to alter a wedding dress. I was in alterations for 3 hours. When I picked up the dress this is a full list of what was wrong. The hem was not the right length and completely crooked. The second layer was cut at an angle. The wrist loop was never added. There were pin holes and threads everywhere from being poked so many times. Worst of all they cut the side for the alteration and sewed it bunched up and higher than the other side. I am unclear on whether Alice mis-pinned so many places or if who ever sewed it was incompetent. Regardless after spending $350 on alterations we had to take it to another place entirely for another $550 to fix it. David's Bridal shows no remorse for taking one of the happiest experiences and shitting all over it. If you have an appointment to alter your dress I suggest canceling it. Don't call though because they don't answer their phones no matter what time it is. (To top it off they called me a liar and said I wasn't wearing my shoes when it was picked up) read more

I wish I could give this store a 0/5. I've honestly never written a review for anywhere but I felt like I needed to. As soon as me and my maid of honor walked in, the employees merely made eye contact..didn't even say hello. There was literally only one person in the whole store and 4 workers. They were all standing around doing nothing. It took about 15 mins for someone to come to even greet us. The worker that came to us basically complained the whole time & was extremely unhelpful. The worker didn't help us find ANYTHING. When we left, the workers were standing at the register and didn't even look up at us when we left. I bought my wedding dress from another David's Bridal and they NEVER treated me this way. Wow....after hiding my Google review from the public, I am SPEECHLESS. I cannot believe my horrible experience with this location. TLDR; Do NOT go here for your alterations. What is supposed to be a joyous time has been an absolute nightmare. I am incredibly frustrated with the alterations process I went through here. I drove to this location SIX TIMES for alteration related things, and my dress is still not finished. I went for the first time in May and was told my dress would be done July 21st. It is August 29th on the day I picked up my still unfinished dress. Communication with me has been horrible from the beginning. I live in Muncie, which is over an hour away (one way) and multiple times I have driven up and nothing has been done to my dress. This week, I drove up after a long day at work, only to find the employee who has been doing my alterations (Abby) was not there, but rather at home. So, the employee who was there FaceTimed her while I was trying on my dress. The employee who was FaceTiming Abby interrupted the woman who was pinning me to show us her dogs over FaceTime. I felt completely dismissed as a customer, being talked to over FaceTime and being shown dogs when all I wanted was to just get my alterations done. I was ignored when I said the top of my dress needed taken in, and also the fact that I had mentioned since my first appointment that the eye hook was broken and needed fixed. I was charged to fix it (which I think I should not have been but whatever), but after six visits, it is still not fixed. After all of this, I was then rescheduled to come in AGAIN to pick up my dress, which would need "one final fitting." I drove home but decided the next day to call and request that they do not touch my dress and I will come in to pick it up without the alterations continuing. When I arrived the next day, I was completely ignored when I entered the store. Two employees walked by me multiple times until one finally came up to me. She then called the manager and said "Miss Annie is here to get her dress" without asking me my name. Finally, the manager came up with my dress and told me that someone had come in and finished my alterations (against my spoken request). I believe this was done to avoid having to refund me for the incomplete alterations. She told me everything was finished but did not ask me if I wanted to try it on in the store. Once I got home, I tried on my dress only to find one sleeve not attached, the other barley attached by a string, the eye hook not fixed, and a safety pin on the bottom of my dress!!!!! On the following week, a different manager, Whitney, called and offered me a refund on my sleeves and the fabric which I purchased. She told me the amount for the refund for the sleeves would be $39, and to let her know how much the fabric was. When I searched my receipts, I found that they charged me $54 for the sleeves. So, when I called back, I asked where the $39 number came from. She put my on hold to "go look at my alterations account" to come back and say she was wrong and I was right - I should be getting $54! I also had to ask explicitly to be refunded for the eye hook that was not fixed. The fact that they lied and did not even get my refund right shows how little they cared about making any part of my situation right. On top of all of this, the manager Whitney sarcastically called me "Miss Annie" every time she referred to me, and did not apologize to me ONCE. I cannot begin to express how horrible my experience with David's Bridal has been for alterations. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I tried to be kind during this process, and then lied to in an attempt to avoid being refunded. I would never recommend anyone to go here. This is a bit what it felt like as we entered with a group of twenty right when the place opened. The staff were all confused and attendants started getting placed with two brides at a time which they were vocal in questioning (a bit awk). No one explained the store layout until we asked, but we figured it out. I'd recommend this not being your first bridal stop. You should go somewhere else that caters to you and helps find your size and then maybe check here to see if there's a more budget dress you like in your size. (It'd be a bit overwhelming to come here without already knowing what you want). They have a decent amount of dresses and some good bridesmaid dresses. For the record, I try. Really hard. To be the best bridesmaid possible. But for some reason, when it comes to spending more money on an ugly one-time-only dress than I once spent on a prom dress (that I do, in fact, still wear for galas n' such), my fake smile turns into a quivering crazy lip. The consultant was attentive and comforting to my cynical, non-romantic banter about the costs of modern-day weddings, extravagance, etc. She might have event thrown in a couple sympathetic (I can't laugh too loud because I sell this stuff, but I agree) chuckles. I suppose by biggest tiff with David's and quite possibly most bridal stores for that matter is the outrageous price gouging. I scheduled an appointment to get a bridesmaid dress for a wedding coming up, thinking that an appointment would = a stylist helping me with style, fit, etc. they did not have the bride's information in their system when she had provided it earlier that day, and the "stylist" that was supposed to work with me, was absent most of the visit. Okay, so the one star review is a result of several factors. If you have the potential for needing to return ANY item (either online or instore), READ EVERY DETAIL and then add a few things that you didn't read. Partly my fault for not knowing online returns had to occur within 7 days of receipt. Yes, that was in the fine print and I'm guilty of misreading that online EXCHANGES can occur within 60 days. HOWEVER, online purchases cannot be exchanged at the brick and mortar location. Sounds like there is a lot of possible scamming with returns going on (giving the store the benefit of the doubt). The manager would not even return my call or come out to say hello. I'm sure they get plenty of unhappy returners. LESSON TO THOSE considering purchasing: MAKE SURE YOU WILL NOT NEED TO RETURN a dress for any reason. If you do, DO IT FAST. NO MORE THAN 7 days. NO EXCEPTIONS. NOT EVEN WITHIN 10 days. THEY ARE NOT KIDDING. And know WHERE to return or exchange. STUDY THE FINE PRINT before you buy...because it will be until death do you and your dress part! The poor employees (?) showed no empathy. Honestly I wouldn't even bother looking at this place. I did some research on the website and found 5 dresses I was extremely excited to try so I figured I would book an appointment. It was only going to be me, my sister and my best friend so I figured it was going to be a laidback experience but I was wrong. I got a voicemail today from one of the employees asking me to confirm my appointment, and I was extremely happy to do so. Then she dropped the bombshell of "we can only guarantee one chair" and I was a little confused. I called because I thought surely they don't mean that I can only bring one person, I mean it's a bridal appointment and it's not like I'm bringing in 10 people. Fortunately they said I could bring both my sister and my friend however one of them might need to stand. What is the point of booking an appointment if they are not going to reserve chairs for those appointments? An appointment is basically just a walk- in only you have to type in a ridiculous amount of information. The lady I spoke to wasn't rude at all however she didn't bother to ask if anyone I was bringing needed special accommodations (such as an extra chair) for health or medical reasons. This was my second place trying on my bridal dress and it was the worst experience ever! I would NOT recommend going. Where do I start, first my stylist never explained that I only had an hour start-finish for my appointment which means I really only got to try on 5-6 dresses. Secondly he wasn't much of a stylist, he literally would just hand me dresses & countdown the time until my appt was up. Third, almost all the dresses o tried on were missing buttons, zippers were broken or ripped, it was just very unprofessional all-around. Highly recommend not going to this location, potentially even other locations. I cancelled my appointment before I even went. Due to COVID, I understand restrictions are strict. Totally get that. However, I called and asked questions because I wasn't given any information. When I called, I was put on hold 3 times and rushed through the phone call. The woman I talked to on the phone was short and snippy with me. She then put me on hold for 5 minutes. When she came back, she sounded annoyed with my questions and annoyed when I wasn't given the COVID information in an email from them. How she responded to me sounded like it was MY FAULT I did not receive the information. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes. I was looking for a specific dress I wanted to try. She was harsh with me, telling me no and snipping at me. She then put me on hold again, just to come back and was rude again. I thanked her for the information, hung up, and cancelled my appointment. She sucked. Hard. I came back a second time (oh god, why?) and had a much better consultant. Actually, I had two consultants, because the first one's shift ended and then I got a new person. Weird. They were both nice, which was a plus. Anyway, I purchased a lovely dress. However, the pressure to get me to buy accessories (jewelry! bra! shoes! other things I need under the dress! dress preservation!) was SUPER annoying and hard to say no to. I already was feeling stressed from picking out THE dress, and I felt DB plays on your emotions in order to get you to spend even more money. Not a fan of the sales tactics here. Fast forward a couple months. No one called me when my dress arrived, which was a bummer. I just showed up one day, and luckily they had it. Later, there was a mixup with my bridesmaid's dresses (nothing serious, just a waste of a ride to the store to find out it wasn't actually in yet). I don't know -- I get the feeling the 'backroom' where the dresses are held is a mess. Alterations were good but $$$. Like. A lot of $$$. Nearly a third of the cost of the dress. I just... I don't know if I should expect less from a chain like David's Bridal, but I just find it sad when an enormous chain falls so short. They should have the resources to be better. I came in to try on the dress my friend picked out for her wedding. I came specifically on this day because they were having a sale on dresses. I spent a long time after I got the dress on waiting for the consultant, just for her to agree it fit great and have not much else to add. The button at the neck was broken, so they agreed to fix it free of charge. As I'm checking out, I learn that the dress is classified as an "event dress" rather than a "bridesmaids dress", and thus doesn't qualify for the discount. The manager said she could do nothing to honor the sale. Then I learn that I have to come at a specific time on a specific day to pick up the dress and I *have* to have the receipt or I cannot pick up the dress. So I pick a time that works for me in conjunction with another north side appointment, only to discover that the individual checking me out allowed me to pick a time that was before the store opened. When I arrived and knocked on the door, the employee informed me of this, then had me wait outside on the sidewalk. She then informed me that she let the alterations manager know and still had me wait outside and that it would "be a few minutes". She was kind enough to let me look it over inside the entry way, and I suspected, they had not looked the dress over and corrected the snags as I had asked. I didn't want to be overwhelmed when I went wedding dress shopping and David's Bridal made it the most stress free experience. I had favorited some dresses online and my stylist, Chelsea, had those on hand when I arrived for my appointment. I was able to tell her my budget and the dress design I liked and we went from there. So extremely helpful and supportive. I'm a very indecisive and visual person so Chelsea's ability to pair the Vail and head wear jewelry with the dresses really made the process easy for me to envision my special day. I said yes to the dress and got to ring the bell. I recommend this location over and over but make an appointment before you go. read more

The Castleton location of David's Bridal was a great place to start my dress shopping. I didn't end up purchasing my dress at David's but I was able to try on a lot of styles. The downsides: every time I went in, I had to wait for quite a while to get anyone's attention. It is also a struggle to get anyone on the phone. Saturday was a nightmare and the store was a mess. I had an appointment but we started nearly 30 minutes late because the store was so busy. The upsides: I preferred the experience I had on a week day. The store was calmer and my stylist was able to take the time to show me dresses and actually took the time to figure out what I wanted. I worked with Lacie for the most part when I was actually picking out dress, and she was lovely. She definitely made up for the less favorable aspects of the experiences at David's. read more

The experiences were VASTLY different! But in their defense, the prices were vastly different too. The salon was so cramped and busy that my bridesmaids weren't even able to sit by my stepmom and sister. They don't have the little stages to stand on and they try to pack so many dressing rooms into such a small space that at one point I was trying to look in the mirror and couldn't because it was actually a door to a dressing room that people were using. I think because of this, it makes the experience feel very cheap and more like a production line for them to make money as opposed to a unique personalized experience. It makes you feel like a number in a big box store as opposed to a very special bride picking out one of the most important elements for her most important day. Trying on the dresses was fine, the woman who helped me was very kind. I will however say that when I went back to pick up the dress the woman who worked with me didn't recognize me, again pointing to the idea of being just another number. I ended up finding a dress that I really loved and ended up buying that day. It wasn't the greatest experience, but it gets the job done. Fast forward to when my dress came in and I went to pick it up. It was a Saturday so it was crazy busy again which is fine because all I had to do is pick my dress up. It comes in a flimsy plastic cover, similar to a dry cleaning bag. Just a side note, my prom dress came in a sturdier bag than this dress. They do offer a garment bag for $12 I think but it is also rather flimsy. I made the very smart decision to check my dress out before I left and to my dismay, there were around 3 stains on the skirt, black stuff on the edge of the lace, and the lace around the arm was fraying. They were able to fix all of the issues before I left, but it was such a shame that even happened in the first place. It was far from a "bridal" experience when you think of what that should be like. read more

I will never spend another dollar at David's Bridal and I regret giving them my business at all. My bridesmaids ordered their dresses and provided all of their contact information and staff advised they would receive an email when their dress was ready for pick up and they would have the option to have it shipped to their house or pick it up at the store. On 3/30/18 I received a call from David's bridal confirming my address stating that all of my bridesmaids dresses were in and they would be shipped to my address. They had my old address on file so I gave them the proper spelling of my new address and although it was not what they said at ordering, I gave them permission to send them to my home instead of the girls so I could see them all too. On 4/4/18 the dresses still weren't in so I called the store. Staff couldn't give me any information about when my dresses shipped and said they each had an individual tracking number and they would have to get a managers permission to release the numbers to me and would call me back. They called back later that day and says the dresses must've shipped but weren't received so they would order new dresses at no cost. I went to my old address to see if they had been delivered and the new tenant said the dresses arrived at their house on 3/30/18 (the day they called me and said they just received them and wanted to verify my address so they could be shipped) after being shipped on 3/29/18 (which I nor my bridesmaids authorized). The tenants said they called David's bridal daily to ask how to return the dresses and they gave them no information and said UPS finally came to pick them up. I've contacted UPS and they confirmed the dresses were shipped on 3/29/18 and have no idea where the dresses are currently at. I asked David's bridal why they lied and stated the dresses were going to be shipped on 3/30/18 when they called me when they had found out from my old address tenants they shipped them to be wrong place. They have continued to lie to me and fain confusion instead of owning up to their mistake and covering it up by calling to ask to verify my address when it was already too late. I have asked to speak to a manager and I've been told they aren't available and they will call me in the next couple days and if they don't call, I need to call to check back about the status of my dresses. They are putting the responsibility of getting this right on me instead of correcting their mistake. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!! read more

I definitely had some thoughts about my recent bridesmaid appointment after reading the Yelp reviews. However, I knew I had an easier job than others coming in since my bridesmaid dress was already picked out and under the bride's name. All I had to do was find the size. I came in a few minutes before my scheduled time. It was a Friday at 6:30 p.m. Honestly, I could've walked in without an appointment because it was dead, but I'm sure if I had skipped booking ahead that it would've been bonkers. The gal at the front desk-- didn't catch her name-- easily found my name on the list of that day's appointments, found the style under the bride's name, and soon enough I was in the dressing room with my size and two others. What caught me off guard was that the employee hardly said more than ten words to me by the time I was in the dressing room. I didn't think it was rude... just kind of weird. Now, I get that it was 6:30 on a Friday night, she was a young woman and probably had other things she wanted to be doing. Can't blame her. Another oddity- the dressing room didn't have a mirror in it. I wanted to do a double-check before I stepped out to show the employee and my mom (always the faithful and honest entourage) to make sure nothing was crazy, so not having a mirror was weird. Anyways. The first size I put on was perfect! Went well with both the flats and heels that I brought so that makes it easy to party the night away and keep my feet a-smilin' come next June. The three of us all decided it was perfect, I changed back into my clothes, and I purchased it. It literally was a 10-minute ordeal. We justified that, since I had only used ten minutes of my reserved hour, we could look at the pretty pretty bridal gowns. There are two retail racks up at the front of all the available styles, and then a whole bunch of racks holding those styles in different sizes. There is also a pretty decently sized clearance section. You could definitely find what you want for any budget. I'm not so sure on the quality, though. Some of the fabric sent chills down my spine when I felt it-- the fingers-on-a-chalkboard kind of feeling. Eeks. Double bonus! 1. My bride and her MOH found the bridesmaid dress a few days before, and David's offered $20 off for the rest of the maids if they came in within a week. So I got a nice discount! 2. God bless a bride who chooses a pretty, flattering dress for her bridesmaids. I can and plan to sell it as a prom dress because it's a great color and style (Long Mesh Dress with Cowl Back Detail in "Marine") So, as a bridesmaid who had to put in minimal effort to finding my dress, this was a pretty decent experience. Can't say the same for everyone else. Get on their email list for their sales if that's your kind of thing! There's a new sale each month. read more

Let me just say......i went to the David's bridal in Greenwood and had a spectacular experience. I felt like a princess from beginning to end! The Castleton store..... Ummmmm.... Let's just say they have a lot to learn from them. I had to try on and zip up my own dresses. My person was with 3 other people and trying to work at the register. They put a veil on me with a GIANT hole in it! 2 of the 3 dresses I tried on were dirty, and from what I could tell, this was the same experience of the other ladies in the store as well. (At least they had friends to help them.) Being a bride is one of the happiest times in a girls life, and I would assume David's bridal is in the business of continuing that feeling with brides and their party. This store misses it on every level. On a positive note, the people there were very nice. read more

This year me and two of my friends got married and all three of us went to David's Bridal for our dresses. I had an okay experience in Greenwood, as did one of my friends. My third friend, however, came to this location in October and our experience was...not okay. First off - apparently they changed their policy so that you can only try on three dresses (well *four* "if you really really don't like any of the first three") during your ONE AND A HALF HOUR APPOINTMENT. Please tell me how that makes any sense. They said that it was because people get carried away and keep going past their appointment time because they can't pick a dress. Sounds like they just need to get stricter about their appointment policies and not make everyone else pay for other peoples' disregard of policy. Second, my friend had a very limited budget and we were right out about that. So the woman who was supposed to be helping us just pointed at a wall and said "You can find dresses in that price range over there." When me and my other friend came in, we were both talked to about our style, our wedding, etc. With this friend, it seemed pretty clear that because she didn't have a lot of money, she would not be getting that kind of treatment. My friend was nearly in tears because she was convinced she wouldn't be able to find a dress and the person who was supposed to be helping her was just...not. Thankfully, my friend's mom showed up and it became clear that SHE had money and would be paying for the dress - so my friend's budget went up quite a bit. She was even able to try on more than three dresses and - wow - we were done in forty minutes, with time to spare! Who'da thought??!! And in the end a manager ended up coming out and actually explaining things to my friend - why certain dresses that were online were for sale and others weren't, etc. She was really kind and finally gave my friend the experience she - and every bride - deserves when she's picking out a dress. After this experience though, and the one I had at Greenwood with mishaps with my dress, I just would not recommend David's Bridal. read more

This was a horrific experience for me. Bought a dress and took it for alterations. While I was there, I purchased a veil and left it with the dress to pick up all once the alterations were complete. When I went to pick up the dress, it was wrinkled and they said it was because I gave them a bag that was too small. I didn't realize I would have to purchase a larger bag so that the dress wouldn't wrinkle after they altered it. I don't mind buying a bag but why would they be ok giving me a wrinkled dress? Hang it properly so I am not picking up a wrinkled dress. Then, I decided against the veil. When I purchased it I asked my seamstress if I could return it if I changed my mind. She said yes. However, they wouldn't let me return it. She said I should have returned it within 7 days. Why didn't they tell me that? I didn't even take the veil home. It was in the store with my dress the entire time. They offered me a credit and I told her I would come back once I figured out what I needed for the wedding. She said, "NO, you have to pick out the items now". I told her that I had had a horrible day (death in the family) and was not in a good frame of mind that day and asked if I could come back. She refused. She said I had to pick out the items immediately. So, I was walking around the store crying trying to find replacements for the veil that I never wore or even took home. They made what was supposed to be a special day into a horrible one with zero compassion or empathy. Find another place. read more
