I was ecstatic when one of my friends asked me to be a bridesmaid for her upcoming July wedding. I was much less enthusiastic when I read reviews of David's Bridal, where I was to go search for/eventually order my bridesmaid's dress. I'm not sure if its because I went in with such low expectations or what, but I was pleased with the experience. I had made an appointment ahead of time, and my mom and I were acknowledged as soon as we walked in. We did have to wait a bit to see a stylist, as it was very busy, but as soon as Tammy came out and greeted us I knew she would be super helpful. She really listened to my specifications and didn't try to push dresses/styles on me that I didn't like - I actually ended up going with the first dress I tried on. She was also assisting another group of bridesmaids but still helped me when I needed it and offered good expertise on sizing down vs. getting the next size up and getting it altered. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and the eventual price of the dress that I got. It was very hectic when I went (a Sunday afternoon) but Tammy was awesome. I was disappointed in the customer service. I went in with a bridesmaid to look for and try on a dress for her. We were told that someone would be there to assist us shortly and to look at the dresses while waiting. She had picked out the dresses she wanted to try on and after about 25 minutes no one had helped us yet. We went to the front to let them know that nobody had been with us, they said they would be with us in just a moment. We went to the fitting rooms to ask when we could try on the dresses and they pointed us to our fitting room. The appointment on the mirror said it was for prom when it was booked for bridesmaid. This visit was very disappointing as no one helped us or checked in on us. This location is very hit or miss. read more

I think as a dress buying experience I'll do once in my life, this was a horrible experience. First I'll discuss the experience then about other things that were off putting. What made me leave and not want to ever have anyone I know ever come back to a David's Bridal chain is that I was put in a dress, that I fell I love with, to be told at checkout that I was not going to be able to have the dress for my wedding. At first my consultant, I'll name T, tried what I assume was all she could do to try and get the dress for me. She had to have someone else, named Z, call the warehouse to try and get it. While T, checked other stores for it. But ultimately from what I believe, I was put into a dress that was so brand new that it wasn't released yet. And would be until a month after my wedding date. So my problem with all of this is that T, and all of the other consultants knew of the date put me in a dress without checking availablity of the dresses. It could be an honest mistake but the events following just put more of a horrible experience to worse. I was told by T she was going to do everything she could to get me a similar dress or better for this mistake. The original dress was long sleeved with accents on the bust. The dress that we "made" similar to the original didn't have long sleeves, accents; so to make it like the original all of these add ons were needed for the replication. Well now my budget is over the 2x what I wanted to spend. T assured me that the dress was in sale and everything would be ok for budget wise. I'm feeling weary but I think that this dress can be it. Get up to the register, T is informed she is needed elsewhere, what she should have done vs. what she did was the final straw for me. Instead of see through with me in this hectic day, she then passes me off to someone who has no idea why I had been through. While waiting with this new person, my bridesmaids are asking Z from earlier if there would be anything done to correct my time and experience. Z told them I was with the store manager who I didn't get her name, and Z said we'll see what she says. I get told my price, which she forgets to add in the jeweled accent and bolero. I informed her of all that I went through and by no means did I want free things, but they made a mistake and I was not getting an apology or even some consultation. My bridesmaids earlier while I was crying over this place and their mistake called other bridal stores and got me in to a different boutique. They informed me and the manager which again I got nothing from her. It seemed as if I was being played, which might not be the real thing but the feeling is what it is. I was put into a dress told I wouldn't be able to get it then showed a different dress at a higher cost. Other cons, while waiting for my consultant I don't want to be hassled by a tux shop to order from them. Especially when I told her that the groom and his guys aren't getting tuxes, but she still hassled me about coming in soon. The store is small, you are in top of one another to look at dresses, while trying them on and your guests are crowded into a communal area and told only to have two seats per bride. The other boutique I went to even though crowded made sure everyone in my party had seats and were as comfortable as I was throughout the appointment, unlike David's. read more

So I want to say Ive got my dress a 2 years ago for my wedding this year in October. I had an absolutely terrible experience. I had a consulate who kept referring to my dress as a prom dress (I have a black wedding dress). A couple times a few employees referred to it as a prom dress or bridesmaid dress an it's really discouraging, buttt today we went shopping for a dress for my mom an my daughter and I got Raeann she is TRULY A SHINING STAR!!! She honestly needs a promotion her customer service was beyond amazing! She went above an beyond for us in more was than one and I genuinely couldn't believe the service we got I will recommend her 10/10 times!!! She is a huge amazing asset to this location this was the best experience we ever had!! I still have to go back for my alterations but she definitely made me feel way more comfortable trusting them with my wedding dress an my party! I don't think I thank Raeann enough for all the effort she put in for us today! She deserves 5 stars!!! but for my previous experience with getting a different wedding dress the overall business 4 stars read more

This was the first place I went to shop for a dress and I was so disappointed. Immediately upon walking in the door I felt like they were rushing me out because my 'stylist' told me right away that we only had an hour and then told us we could grab some gowns and she would get a couple for me. But then she seemed kind of bothered we had grabbed some gowns to try as well. Then basically said here's your room you can try them on- given I have never tried to step into a wedding dress I was so thankful I had someone with me that had just gone through this process and came in to help me. But it was hard to even see if the fit would be right because they didn't even help clip them up. Then every dress I tried on my stylist would mutter "20 min left" "10 min left" and I had tried a dress I really liked but felt so rushed I hardly had time to decide if I liked it. And I was told they didn't have many left but could hold it until the end of the day- which felt even more like they are trying to rush you into it. Went to Bridal Rack Indy and had an AMAZING experience where it seemed like the stylist actually cared I was getting married and I wasn't a hassle to her- I found my dress there! I understand David's is busy on a Saturday and I'm sure my stylist was so stressed out (she was nice!) but when they say an hour they are actually counting down and they mean an hour and you are out of there. NOT enough time to pick a dress for a big day in your life. It was so crowded and rushed. Even if they extended their slots to two hours it would be SO much better. It was way worth it to me to spend a little more elsewhere. Unless they change their appointment times I do NOT recommend. I think their employees would be way less stressed and be able to help more too. read more

My bridesmaid dress was ordered incorrectly so the wrong dress was ordered. The staff, fixed it! The manager was nice and called me they ended up finding two dresses for me to replace the wrong one with a correct one. Then they even shipped it into the store 3 weeks before it said it could get there ! I had heard bad reviews before about davids bridal, so I was kinda scared of what was going to happen. BUT all turned out okay! I was so happy with their customer service! I really appreciated what they did and wanted to write them a nice review. I think the lack of customer service is apparent in this shop. I think it's unfortunate that this was the case-and not only by some of the 'welcome' staff but also by the management-Michelle. As others have said, horrible customer service. Nothing wrong with the dresses but do not use their alterations. They over book, switch appointment times, and and generally show disinterest in helping you. The worst was being told they didn't have time to steam my dress and I could go buy a steamer from wal-mart or target for $20. I took my dress to a different alterations place to be finished and have to pay for that on top of what I had already paid DB. After having it for 3 months they couldn't get it right or give a crap. I've been in David's a few times in the past to try on bridesmaids dresses and yes, I've not always had the best experience there but when it came my own bridal appointment last week, I had a very pleasant time. I'm not sure if it helped to make an appointment when they first opened but that's what I did and we were greeted and given a bridal consultant right away. She already had my favorites pulled off the website and got me started right away. She did state that with it being a Saturday, she may get called away or have to help multiple people. I appreciated that. I've worked in sales and I understand her position. I felt like she kept up with getting the dresses switched out in a timely manner and didn't seem the least bit upset that my sister was helping when she was away. When I couldn't make up my mind, she made an appointment later that same day so I could come back if I chose. My party and I were in and out under our 2 hour appointment window and it was a great day there. I'm hoping when we go back for bridesmaid dresses in a few weeks, we have the same experience. My experience at the 82nd Street David's Bridal exceed my expectations! Granted, I had relatively low expecatations for a bridal store like this. I came here to order a bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding back in November. We didn't have an appointment, but someone was with us quickly and let us snag a room to try on the dress even though it was busy with brides-to-be. When we asked to try on dresses at other bridal stores in Indianapolis (cough cough Demetrios) the staff was rude and wouldn't help us. I was surprised dy the staff at David's and how helpful they were. So I ordered my dress in November and they told me it could take up to three months to arrive. It arrived in less than three weeks! They emailed me which I loved. However, I just hung the dress up in my closet and didn't think about it until a few weeks ago. When I tried it on it didn't fit! In a panic, I called David's Bridal ready to order and pay for a new dress to be rushed to the store since the wedding is only a few weeks away. Their manager Beth told me that she would be happy to exchange my dress for the right size! She was very calming, which helped because I was worried I wouldn't have a dress in time for the wedding. They exchanged my dress, and the new one arrive in less than two weeks: plenty of time before the wedding. It can get pretty crowded in here, so do your homework online before coming tot he store. Make an appointment, and avoid Saturdays. When they're busy, customer service kind of slips but that is to be expected. I was happy with how they helped me order a new dress quickly. We had Aarren as our helper in finding bridesmaids dresses 3 different times and she made the experience unpleasant for us. She was not accommodating at all and was sighing the whole time she was working with us, acting as though she didn't want to be there. She rushed us out and told us if we wanted to try on more dresses we would have to make another appointment. The other ladies that worked there were being very nice to the people they were helping but ours was not so much. Stressed us all out and will not recommend her to anyone. read more

This place tends to get a bad rap, but I had a wonderful experience there. The woman who helped me was on the younger side, so we had similar taste in dresses. She listened to what I wanted and allowed me to browse the store's racks at my leisure. She helped me put my dress choices in the dressing room and then allowed my mother, grandmother and I to try the dresses on without pestering us every 30 seconds. I appreciated that. Once I had decided on a dress, she was very helpful in determining what alterations would be needed and she even double checked the price of the dress to be sure that I got the best deal (she saved me another $30 or so!). Two pros: 1. Small fitting rooms. Be prepared to be squished. 2. I purchased some shoes at the store and requested that they be dyed. The dying never happened. The store refunded my mother's money and fell over themselves apologizing. In the end, it did not matter to me that my shoes were not dyed, but I can see how that would thoroughly tick off someone who had always dreamt of wedding shoes in a certain color. I was SUPER nervous about dress shopping, so much so that I put it off until pretty much last minute. I went in today with Lacey's help during my appointment. She made this process so simple for me when I was already overwhelmed. She had me try on one of her favs and it ended up being the perfect dress. For the record, I am not your typical bride, so this review should probably be read accordingly with that in mind. I hate shopping, I hate browsing, and I hate doing it around people. When I am required to shop, I am normally on a mission with certain ideas in mind. With all of those circumstances, my experience at David's Bridal wasn't horrible. However, for a typical bride, I would suggest finding a smaller, non-chain bridal boutique for your wedding experience, because you won't find anything personable here. Prior to visiting DB, I had selected dresses from their website and marked them as "favorites" through my account online. This made it possible for the "stylist" I was with to pull the dresses from stock to have ready for me to try on. Perfect, as there didn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to the way the dresses were laid out through the store. If there was some sort of method to the mayhem, no one bothered to explain it to me or point out, "Hey you like ball gowns? Check here!" I was immediately frustrated with the first dress because, although I loved the style, there was only one left in the store.. and it was 4 sizes smaller than what I needed. So, what did the employee I was working with do? Brought the dress to me, told me it was smaller than what I needed, and left it at that. The dress obviously did not fit or even come close and by the time I wiggled my shoulders in to it, got upset, and fought my way back out of it, I was sweating, mad, and ready to call it a day. Between trying on dresses that never were provided in the size I needed, I had to fight my way out of the dressing room and look around people to be even remotely capable of seeing myself in a mirror. Apparently there is no cut-off for the amount of appointments in any given day, as the store was crawling with people and nearly impossible to navigate without bumping in to multiple someones. I decided on a dress within the first hour of my 90 minute appointment. For the remainder of the time, my sister tried on bridesmaid dresses with the same amount of enthusiasm and participation from the staff as my experience. In fact, I can not tell you the consultant's name we worked with, as she was mostly hands-off during the entire appointment. I did find my dress. And I am in love with it. However, keep in mind, for me, my wedding is not about the dress I'm wearing. I don't need the hottest style or the most unique or one that no one else will ever wear. I am completely satisfied with the dress purchased, but not so much the experience. read more

I've had nothing but problems with this place. Customer service wasn't well represented as it should have been. All I wanted to do was exchange my dress because it doesn't fit me as well as it did and since I was 9 months out from when I purchased it they wouldn't make an exception even though they told me they do if it was 7 months but what's another 2 months. Then I have prove where they let my friend exchange her dress that was over 5 years. That's not fair at all and everyone I talked to about it was rude or disrespectful. I had gone to a Bridal store prior to going to David's. This Bridal store was muy high-end & lux. I feel in love w the atmosphere there, but they were out of our price range. The representative was very informative, fun, and detailed. When we told her David's was our next place, she wasn't mad. She even provided a few tips for our visit. Going there we saw a lot of cookie cutter dresses. Fresh from a look book. Some of the items were dated, and that's a bummer. I'm 5'10" and a size 24, so imagine my frustration in not finding anything that: a fit and b was stylish. I was there for 2hrs. The Team at David's was faboosh. They didn't hover, but were available for my questions. I was there w my best friend so I was just low-mex stressed, bot High. After looking for ages, I realized I had to go above my price & I'm happy. Now, I went a few hundred dollars above budget, but I'm happy bc PERKS. Mind you & if you read previous reviews Bean & I have been Bridal show going for months. We have 2 $50 off coupons. on top of that, there was a sale which made my dress another $150 off, on top of that, they offer 6 months financing!!!! Yeah Boi $$$$$. I had a great experience. I set up an appointment at a bridal event but my mom was terribly ill so I had to cancel my appointment the day before and they were very nice about it. They made it very easy. I had a good idea what I wanted when I came in but they had me look around for a bit since I was there early. Kate, my consultant, was awesome. She listened to what I wanted, pulled exactly what I was looking for and made the process so easy. I'm plus size and I was concerned that I wouldn't look good in any dresses but I felt amazing. The whole staff actually was wonderfully making me feel good about myself without lying and I would have known if they were doing it to make a sale because I know when something really looks good or not. I was amazed by what I got for the price too. I only wanted to spend about $500 on the dress and I did. I ended up spending a bit more with undergarments but I was blown away by what I got. I couldn't have been more thrilled with any other dress no matter how expensive it was. I love it and I feel amazing in it. I'm definitely going to go back with my bridesmaids for their dresses and we will be asking for Kate again because she was a dream to work with. read more

Should have checked the reviews before we scheduled an appointment. What should have been a beautiful experience for my daughter turned out to be any but that. When we called to order the 5 bridesmaids dresses, with in a few days, we were told they had none of the info from the fitting. Manager was suppose to investigate and call us back, days later no one has bothered to call. Time spent, ladies came from all over to make selections and get fitted, all a wasted of time. Love the dress! Gals that helped us were sweet & patient! The store was disorganized & a bit crazy. No control. We ordered a wedding dress, they said it would arrive Mid March, it arrived 5 days later - which is great! Went to pick it up and it was in a generic plastic bag. If we wanted a nice garment bag it would be $10.95 plus tax. What? Thanks David's Bridal - we will be proud to carry it around in a cheap plastic bag during alterations over the next few months. I made an appointment for 1pm, and was very surprised to see at least 4 other appointments at 1pm ... but I suppose that makes sense. But they somehow lost my information on their website or something, so I had to fill out a form anyway - and this was after probably 10 minutes on just waiting for someone to talk to me from the welcome desk. The consultant, Tabatha, came and immediately set us on wedding gown duty. I tried them all on, and eventually did go home with the dress I loved ... but Tabatha's attention wasn't very good. She would disappear for long periods of time, and we spent a lot of time waiting for bridesmaid dresses that she was going to pull for us or whatever. We eventually didn't find any we really liked and wanted so I bought my dress, probably the only thing that's saving this review from going to one star. Note: To all future brides who want to come here to shop, make sure you have nothing the rest of the day, OR just one other appointment. This particular David's Bridal is VERY busy and their attendants don't do a very good job paying attention to a bride, especially because they usually attend to two at a time. read more

From one bride to the next do not shop at davids bridal. As all the other reviews state very outdated dresses and awful customer service. The first time I went in was on a Tuesday, I had a 11am appointment. I thought booking a weekday during the morning wouldnt be so busy so I could really take my time and look. The variety of dresses was very underwhelming, I felt like every dress looked the same and looked like it belonged in the late 90's. The consultant helping obviously did not like her job, the entire time she asked me if i was done looking yet or when I put a dress on and looked in the mirror she would state "Is this finally it?" But not in an excited tone. More in the way that she was ready for my appointment to be over. At one point she walked off and didn't come back for a good 30 minutes. There was only one other bride in there, so they were not busy. We asked someone to go look for her but they couldnt find her. My mom and I waited for her but finally decided to put the dress on ourselves. When she came back she yelled at us and told us we were not allowed to do that. (Which I understand, but when no one can find you in the middle of our 45 minute appointment....) The entire time I felt rushed and ended up buying a dress I didn't love. After about a month I decided I wanted to look again, but when I went into David's they told me I couldn't exchange the dress. I called corporate and they agreed that I would be allowed to look for a new dress. I went in and had a wonderful consultant (Sandy) she really listened to what I was looking for and apologized a hundred times for the poor service before. I finally found a dress that was originally $1250, on sale for $400. I really liked it but did not love it still. I decided to get it thinking I could consign it and go look elsewhere for a dress I really loved. When I went to exchange it the manager told me I wasn't allowed. I played her the voicemail I had from corporate and her reply was "Well it is still up to the store manager to decide...." I explained to her that corporate had called the store and verified that the exchange was allowed with the assistant store manager. The manager than told me that woman was no longer at david's bridal. (She moved to another bridal store...shocker) After some talking back and forth about my terrible experience and still not loving the choices they had, she finally agreed to let me exchange it. But she said it in such a way like she was doing me some big favor. Moral of the story brides; if you arent happy with the customer service or dont find a dress dont be afraid to walk away without purchasing anything. It is okay to look at several places and try on multiple dresses until you find the one. I'm still searching for my dress. Here's to hoping I find one :) read more

I'm leaving two reviews today - one for this David's Bridal, and one for the Lafayette store, and my experiences could not have been more opposite. I was helped by Gigi (I believe she's transferred to the Greenwood store now), and right from the start she was absolutely wonderful. She asked the theme of the wedding, asked what kinds of experiences I had with formal dresses, if I had an idea of what I wanted, etc. As soon as I showed her the first picture of one of the dresses I had been considering, she started leading me to dresses that were exactly up my alley. She was wonderful and understood how the dresses I was trying on would fit my body, and was able to comprehend what look I was trying to go for. We ended up buying the dress that day (the first day I had even actually gone dress shopping). It was an absolutely wonderful experience, enough so that I actually originally signed up for a Yelp account in order to praise it (and now I can use it for other things, too!). I also just wanted to say that the man who did my fitting for alterations was absolutely delightful as well. I believe his name was Derrick, but he just was so careful and considerate and really put a lot of effort into the work to make it absolutely perfect. I appreciated it so much, and it made me appreciate this branch even more. read more

On October 21st, I picked my dress up from David's Bridal after having alterations completed. I tried the dress at the store. It could barely be zipped. The manager of the store who completed the alterations admitted that she may have taken the dress in too much. This of course is the only explanation for the dress no longer fitting when I had dropped the dress off a week prior. She then proceeded to tell me that I would have to pay an additional fee to have the dress corrected. I told the manager that I would think about because I felt as if I had already spent too much on the alterations. Before hearing my final decision, the manager walked away and did not return. I immediately followed up with corporate. The corporate line prompted me to communicate with a rep via text because they're so busy. It's over a week later and there still has been no resolution. They claim the store called me which did not happen and should not have happened. I made it clear that I no longer wanted any communication with the store. Take your business elsewhere. My experience at David's Bridal was a great one. I first went to try on some dresses by myself because I heard that it would be better to get my own opinions on what I like before I go with my mom and sister. I had Alexis for my consultant. She was awesome! So down to earth, it was like I was talking to one of my close friends. We tried on 4 dresses and she even took some pictures for me so that I could show my mom when I went home. A few weeks later, I scheduled another appointment with my mom and sister (maid of honor). They called me a "comeback" because I was coming back after having a previous appointment, so I had the same consultant again. I'm so glad we had her again because she already knew what styles to look for and even gave me advice on color of tuxes my guys should wear that would look good with my ivory dress. After my appointment, I did have another appt at another place. I looked all over that store and nothing compared to the dress at DB. Later that day, I said "yes to the dress." I LOVED the little ceremony thing they did with the David's Bridal Vows and ringing the bell. Not going to lie, it made me tear up a bit with excitement of course. I definitely recommend asking for Alexis for future brides to come! read more

I was surprised to see the ratings a little low for this David's Bridal. I had gone there for my friend, and had such a nice experience that I also purchased my dress DB. I left a review already for my initial dress appt on DB website I believe and she was great! I actually had to go in 2 times with my Dad, and then with my Mom, so she was very accommodating. I have been in several times now working with the alterations, Marian at Store 114 and she's GREAT! I am a perfectionist, (esp with my wedding dress) when it comes to fittings, and I've never had to worry with her. My wedding is in June, so I definitely planned to get my dress taken care of early on with the final fitting 6 weeks before the big day. My 1st appt with her went smoothly. We made a few changes with the neckline and the sash and she agreed with my decisions which made me feel good. I did not bring my wedding party with me, as they are all out of state, so it's nice to have that kind of back up for such important changes! I came back again once I found my shoes and she altered the length and changed the train of my dress for the reception. She went through at least 3 or 4 different ideas that we could do for the train and we both agreed on one that worked PERFECTLY with the dress. When I first purchased my dress my lady only showed me 2 options which I wasn't too thrilled about, so I was so excited with Marian showed me a new style that fit best with my dress. Love David's Bridal! I found a wonderful wedding dress as well as my bridesmaid dresses. Everything came on time and some even came early! My consultant was wonderful and listened to exactly what I wanted. This was the first place I looked at and my dress was the third one I tried on! My sister went looking here and had a wonderful consultant (I believe her name was Taylor) and although she didn't find her dress, we will be back for bridesmaid dresses! Great experience. read more

I chose to go to David's Bridal to purchase my wedding dress due to the range of prices and sizes. I went in not expecting much at all, mainly due in part to the terrible reviews I had read online. I was pleasantly surprised! I was paired with my stylist, Brie Schafer and she was absolutely wonderful. She had an idea of what I wanted based upon items I had "favorited" on the app and pulled some other dresses that would be comparable to those as well. Brie also pulled a few dresses that she thought would compliment my figure. A few of these were out of my comfort zone but I ended up falling in love with one of the dresses she chose. I actually ended up going above and beyond my budget because I loved the dress so much. Brie was personable and friendly but knowledgeable and professional as well. She really seemed to know her product and enjoy her job. My only complaint would be that it got a little hectic at one point because she had been scheduled for numerous appointments at the same time as mine. Had more stylists been available, she wouldn't have been running around as much trying to please 5 different brides at once. i went here yesterday with a friend just to look at their discounted prices on homecoming and prom dresses. the workers talked bad about us in front of our faces, which is extremely rude. don't get me wrong, they have some beautiful dresses, but if you're not on their "good side" they make it known and make it miserable. read more

I ordered my bridesmaids dress from here for a friend's wedding. During the fitting, the staff seemed unorganized and overly touchy. I was concerned that I would not receive the correct dress/color/size since the staff seemed unprofessional and didn't really know what they were doing. I was told that I would receive a call/email to pick up my dress in a few weeks/months. Great, fine. About 2 months later, the bride gets a call that the dresses would be shipped to her. Come to find out, the dresses had already been shipped to her old address and David's Bridal was trying to fix their mistake without telling her. They said they would reorder all the dresses and send them to her. Then, she receives shipment information for my dress. Apparently, they mixed the bridesmaids names up, so we were concerned that I had received the wrong size/style when it was just another bridesmaids dress. As of now, we still have not received the dresses, but I expect there will be a mistake/mixup of some kind before all is said and done. I have still received no communication about my dress from David's Bridal about my dress. My experience with David's Bridal was not a great one. When spending $160 on a dress, I expect a flawless and professional experience, not sloppy and unorganized. Never again will I go to David's Bridal for anything, including my own wedding dress. read more
