Does anyone have high expectations for this place? I hope not! During my first shopping appointment, my consultant was NOT a vibe. She was boring and made the experience awkward. My SIL was with me and did a much better job at asking what I liked and didn't like. The consultant didn't try to sell a thing. I did end up finding a dress I really liked and purchased it. I went today to pick up my dress and it was like picking up a darn grocery order. Gail greeted me and my partner and grabbed my dress without asking if I wanted to try it on or take it out of the bag or anything. I asked to try it on and she gave me a fitting room and walked away. She said I could purchase a garment bad up front. For a $1000 purchase, she could have at least pretended to care a little. Horrible customer service!! I went to look for bridesmaid dresses and I was never acknowledged one time even though they had several employees working the floor. When I wanted to try on something, I had to ask someone on the floor who told me "you can't get a fitting room unless you have a stylist open it for you because you aren't allowed to just go in" so I go to find someone to help me and I'm told "oh, you can just pick a room" So, at this point I'm like I was just told that I need someone to assign me a room. So the 2 employees keep asking me "oh, was it the tall lady who said that?" I said the woman didn't appear significantly tall so I'm not sure. I had pretty low expectations as I've always considered David's Bridal to be like the fast food/Walmart of dress shops and their reviews aren't so hot. Also, being plus sized (women's size 22), I was cautiously optimistic that they would have anything remotely cute in store that actually fit me. This may be pretty long, but I'll start at the beginning. Or maybe even before the beginning. I had invited my best friend, my mother, and my teenage step-daughter to-be for my appointment. When they called the day before to confirm, they said they could only welcome a party of 3 including the bride. Naturally, I started crying. Who could I possibly dis-invite?!? My future husband (sweetheart that he is) called the store to ask if we could get an exception and they granted our request. They didn't have to. And I felt like a Karen. But first wedding planning crisis averted by David's Bridal and staff! They had requested that I pick a few favorites from their website to get an idea of what I had in mind. We walked in and were greeted with a compliment and then met our stylist, Haydee. I mentioned my size concern and she quickly assured me that she had pulled several of my favorites in my size though she did want to clarify my budget since I had indicated my budget was "under $200" but had favorited dresses up to $900, so naturally that was confusing. Haydee showed me what she had pulled and we started. Then my mom said she might like to see me in a color other than white/ivory, so Haydee grabbed a champagne colored gown and a pale pink in my style for me to try on, adjusting her picks based on what I did/didn't like about the previous gowns. Honestly, I expected to walk out having a better idea of what I liked, but I walked out with three budget friendly favorites in my size to choose from. The staff was a bit confused by our request...my Mom wanted a not-too-old-looking grandmother of the bride dress. Eventually we found a salesperson who seemed to get it...but mostly I pulled dresses that I thought my Mom would want to try on. And we finally found the dress. It was really in the bridesmaid section I think, but it was a grecian style in a good color and in her size off the rack. Good thing to because when we asked about another color the turn around time was over 3 months. So no matching shrug that would come in sometime in August. The price point was fine. The help was OK. The styling was all over the map. The parking lot was a pain...or maybe that was just all the jumbotron SUVs in the lot. read more

The sales consultants can be somewhat pushy (they do work on commission after all), but they are super useful because it would otherwise be impossible to sort through the massive selection of wedding dresses. Overall, my purchase experience was good, and I found the dress that I love. Beware, though - alterations are expensive if you have them done at David's. Crazy expensive. It's definitely convenient, since they do have retail hours for alterations, and the lady who does the fittings is brilliant. However, expensive! Be sure to consider that you may be spending another $200+ on alterations when looking for a dress. read more

This store never cease to disappoint... I ordered a dress on Valentine's Day and the ladies insisted I was pushing it for the arrival of my dress before the March 31st wedding. I assured them with my faith it would be in sooner than the date they suggested. To no surprise I received an email March 3rd that my dress was ready for pick up. I arrived at the store to pick up my dress and 3 associates were busy assisting another customer. To listen to Rachel to her newly assigned bride at glance from a cell phone picture we don't have that dress deflated me and I'm no where near getting married. The other associate felt the need to mention the dress she initially ordered would be in any day now... she's the bride she can change her mind if she wants was my thought... Finally, my presence was acknowledged and I stated I received an email that my dress was ready for pick up she asked my last name and first name and off to the back of the store the associate went. No receipt or identification requested because I'm a rule follower... I wouldn't just had over a $200 dress to someone without verifying they were the owner... just my thought but hey it may be store policy... this makes me appreciate private boutiques. When I'm planning my wedding in the next year or two (lol) this store will definitely not be an honorable mention for anything other than the cute bedazzled flip flops... service is everything! read more

One of my groomsmaids and myself came in to look at dresses and potentially try some on. Upon arriving they were pretty aggressive about signing in and then had no idea what to do with us at that point. I knew this was odd because I went to a different David's Bridal with another wedding party member. From there they asked what we needed and we shared what our goal was. They were so disorganized and confused that my groomsmaid needed a dress for my same sex marriage. Now, they didn't discriminate but were so confused. We finally got past the staff members getting flustered, my friend got to look at dresses. She was able to find one so quickly and it was an easy process to try it on. The purchasing process was easy and we were done. I haven't been to a whole lot of David's Bridals in my day and though I enjoy the store; I'll pass on this location again. read more

I had all the problems with the Metairie location since the beginning. From losing my information to ordering the wrong dresses. They told me I could not get my dress altered until 30 days before the wedding. Even though what I needed was a hem. I'm not going to grow any taller or shorter in 7 months. Now That we are 30 days out and there is Covid-19 they are closed and we can't get alterations done. The wedding I am standing in is 6/6 in Texas and as of now they are still allowed to have it. So as you can see I'm in a pickle. I'm a wedding planner and completely understand the situation and it's a hard one. However, being a part of the wedding industry, all of us vendors are coming together as a whole to find solutions and make things happen. The store associate told me basically too bad find an alternate solution. She fought me tooth and nail. Said I can't get anything done until 6/4 and that's that. Obviously to late. I know of many boutiques who are doing mail in measurements etc. They are working with their clients to figure something out. So I asked if we can return our dresses as we all need alterations to fit in them and like she said, will have to find an alternate solution. She said there will be stipulations if we want to return them. During a time of crisis, this store is harsh and making awful situations worse. I definitely expected more from a corporation that has means. The least they could give is non combative store employees. Went in for a formal gown that I need a month away. I was shown a few dresses and tried them on. My attendant was very patient. I found the dress I wanted. I needed to schedule an appointment for my fitting, but my work schedule was pretty hectic to come on days they had open so they allowed me to come back later to have my alterations done that same day, so I can have my dress ready for my event. I know this is something they probably don't do regularly so I am extremely thankful and happy that the manager accommodated me. Because of their great service I will continue to come here for all my special occasion needs and book my appointments accordingly. read more

My daughter and I went in today to get a bridesmaid dress for a wedding in June. She had an idea of what she was looking for as far as color was concerned, just needed to settle on style. We've never been to a David's Bridal before and truly after the all around service today, probably will never go to another one. The lady at the front desk upon entry was so rude and unwelcoming. She told us we needed an appointment, I said "obviously we're novices", her response was "you can't bring that coffee in". Now I looked on the door before entering for a no food or beverage sign. There wasn't one so I did enter with my coffee. My response was that's fine I'll take it to my car. (Which I did and rechecked for a sign--there's none). When I came back in we were appointed someone to help us. The woman truly stunk like freaking stale smoke. It was so strong and bad that I coughed our whole time there (I'm severely allergic). She at no time asked us what we were looking for style wise and gave us no help whatsoever only to grab the one dress my daughter chose and said let's go to the dressing room...I said "um I want to look more", she said ok we'll be in room 18 -- I said my daughter would like to look some more too. This woman starting pulling dresses off the rack and adding to our pile without even asking if my daughter liked them. Finally got to the dressing room. My daughter was on her 2nd dress, I turned to the associate that was assisting us and asked a question, she was staring blankly over my shoulder and without answering me just wandered off. My daughter just cracked up ... because after all what do you do in a situation like that? When we finally made it to the cashier, where our experience didn't improve. Frankly she was quite b*tchy, abrupt and rude. I will not return here. My daughter was under a time restraint and the fact that the wedding is in Virginia needed to buy from a chain store in order to fall within the wedding party requirement. I went into the store with some specific stuff in mind having looked online and needing a dress that is very relaxed for my venue. When I first arrived I felt a little put off by the hostess/ receptionist who kept taking phone calls while I was standing right in front of her waiting to be helped, BUT we got past that once Brittany was our attendant she was absolutely fabulous. She got me a bunch of really great options (including the dress that I said 'yes' to) that I would have never chosen for myself. And all well within my budget. She never made me feel pressured or even hovered around. She gave my best friend and I the space we needed to talk freely and judge every dress. We were there for well over three hours and Brittany never once made me feel like I was wasting her time. I am only giving four stars because I was a little disappointed that the store didn't have very many of the more casual dresses and separates that I had pulled from the David's Bridal website. I think the "casual wedding" is becoming more popular so I hope they up their stock on those items. Otherwise, I am super pro this store, great options for a great price and some solid sales. I do love hating on the DB. On the other hand, they're pretty scummy. Cheap poly dresses that are way over-priced and feed on the wedding industrial complex ahoy! A dear friend picked her ideal bridesmaid dresses from David's, and I couldn't do anything to get around it. (Seriously. I searched for weeks on eBay and used bridal sites to avoid buying new. However, the dress I needed in my size and color was not available. Hiss boo.) I also couldn't do anything to avoid giving them my name, address, and wedding date. Umm, what? I'm a bridesmaid, not the bride? But I was required to produce name, full address, and wedding date...so they could sell my data to "market affiliates that might benefit me." No, dude, I don't want mailings from The Knot, The Nest, or whatever other website you think I might want to join. I don't. Ever. The parking lot for this location is pretty hellish to get into and out of because of its proximity to the light and major intersection. It is also difficult to get here via public transit (another annoyance). I've done it, but I don't recommend it. The best path, if you are just doing a quick pick-up, is to get off the bus on the far side of Vets, cross at the intersection, do your business, and catch the same bus on the David's side of Vets when the bus loops back in 20 minutes. Otherwise, you'll be waiting an hour or more for a ride back to the foot of Canal. Yes, I'm still bitter for paying $100+ for a stupid polyester dress that was worn once and sold on eBay to get it out of my life. I don't blame the bride, however; I blame David's for exploiting the industry. Accessibility notes: Door opens out. Slight step up into the shop. Aisles are narrow and crowded with dresses. Large changing rooms. Mirrors have a pedestal in front of them which may be a problem for people with mobility devices. read more

I visited David's Bridal this past Saturday with my family and we received horrendous "service." We didn't know that we needed an appointment, and were apologetic. However, we were told that we could still 'look around,' which we did. The bride-to-be found a dress that she loved; it was her size and she was ready to buy it. A consultant approached us and said in a very nasty tone, "You are not supposed to remove the dresses from the rack." To which we responded that we were told we could look around. There was another consultant that was also very nasty and rude to us as well. I went over to her and apologized, for the second time, that we didn't know we needed an appointment; and said, "look, the bride found something she likes and is ready to buy it." the consultant held up her index finger at me and said, "You don't understand, that's not how this works." Shocked, I walked over to the bride-to-be, and the others that were with us and told them what happened. We called two other establishments that were willing to see us in spite of the fact that we did not have an appointment. Thanks to Pearl's Place, the bride-to-be found another gown that she liked. Needless to say the rest of us will also buy our gowns from Pearl's Place, who was more than willing to see us; and they treated us with dignity and respect. read more

We came in looking for brides maids dresses. Irene was the one helping us out. She was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. Helped us find the best dress to fit us all. Thanks for accommodating this bridal party of 6 brides maids. However when I went to pay the cashier who's name I did not get, told me my card was declined after the card reader on the customer side didn't accept in and she ran it on her side of the counter. Immediately called my bank who said of course I have enough money. There is no reason my card should be declined and that they don't even see an authorization attempt. I am so embarrassed I left in tears. This is the second time I have left this David's Bridal location in tears. 2 years ago when I was shopping for my own wedding dress the attendant put me in a dress and abandoned me. I had to go retrieve her from chit chatting with another employee at the check in desk to let me out of the dress. This lady's name also don't know. I had hopes that after this much time something has changed. Irene is the one shining savior I see in this store. I give her 5 stars. Everything else however. Ruined my experience. read more

I've been to a few David's Bridals, and this has all the standard amenities that others do. They're nice, courteous, and clean. A few customers do bring in their kids, but they're usually well behaved. When I went in to get my bridesmaid dress, they helped me find my size, try it on. etc. the ordering was fast and easy. They called me when my dress and wrap came in. And I like that it came in earlier than the expected time. I do recommend that if you want to go in on the weekend to try some dresses on, make an appointment because browsing around by yourself isn't easy. One white dress starts to look like the last one after a while. The women working there know all of their dresses and accessories. read more

I don't know what it is, but I have been to several locations and never had a good experience until today. My bridal consultant was in training but she was so sweet (perhaps she hasn't been jaded by the David's bridal evilness that usually oozes from the staff). Our consultant this time was helpful, positive, and you could tell she was really trying to give us the best experience possible. She seemed genuinely happy for us when my sister found the bridesmaid gown she will be wearing in 2 months for my wedding. We chose a Vera Wang champagne V-neck dress with a ruffle skirt--it's nice, just take my word for it. It would be nice if there were more selection. There are only the Vera Wand and David's Bridal collections which left little to choose from. I am rating this place a 3/5 only because we were lucky to get a great bridal consultant. The other consultants were clearly jaded and rude. At one point another consultant threw a bunch of dresses in the chair I had just been sitting in and where my phone still sat. I had to dig under all the dresses to find my phone. And as I moved the dresses, the consultant who put them there scoffed at me as if I were the one who hid my phone under the dresses! David's Bridal really needs to work on their service more generally. read more

I will start off with the GOOD! MY dress is beautiful and I love it so much!! My consultant, Irene, is SO great!! She is so helpful and patient. Every time I go in, it is a madhouse b/c I usually make Saturday appointments. She is running ragged, but does not rush me! On the other hand...the "greeter" at the front desk was rude. (I was not the only one who thought so) Also, the place is kind of unorganized to me. Most of the dresses you try on, look like they've been tried on 100 times...the hooks in the back are broken, zippers don't always work properly...etc. read more

I can't say enough nice things about Mrs Irene. If you go here, request her if you can. She assisted my mother in finding an evening gown for my upcoming wedding and me in finding the perfect dress for the rehearsal dinner. She was very attentive and made both of us feel beautiful with all of her kind compliments. When I returned for my veil, she and Ms Ruby went above and beyond to make sure I left with the one I wanted. No matter what your formal attire needs are, David's Bridal has it all. **Update: after picking up the dress and becoming a Mrs. ** I received a call from DB confirming my pick-up date the day prior. (Nice added touch when your head is swimming in lala land). The day of pick up I was greeted immediately and told that I could go directly to the fitting area. A very nice lady quickly got my dress for me, let me know that the dress had been cleaned and steamed and offered to help me get into it. After I put it on, she guided me to the mirror and made sure that I was happy with my dress. She asked if there was anything else I needed and we were on our way. The dress turned out beautifully. Alterations were spot on and the dress looked pristine. I also received a very polite call a day or two prior to the wedding just to see if we needed anything, to thank us for our business, and to congratulate us. I would however recommend that customers ask to opt out of mailings and emails if possible. I have since been inundated with emails and mailings from local photography studios and florists. read more

I went in to go and get a bridesmaids dress and received wonderful service from a woman named Irene. She helped with everything I needed. Best part is that I didn't have to repeat myself of the size or color I needed. She asked once and remembered all the way to the end. That to me is awesome, telling someone something once. I had a very heart warming experience and I would recommend any bride who is nervous or new to the world of weddings to step into this David's Bridal. I entered without an appointment and from out of town and the receptionist worked me in with no troubles. Then I met my stylist Antwan. Ladies, you want Antwan for your fitting. He is overly kind, yet honest and gifted at what he does. I explained I wanted a ball gown with lace and cathedral train but that I was also working within a budget. After looking through many gowns (mostly out of my price range), Antwan suggested the perfect dress. It's a ball gown with corset lace back and at first I was worried it didn't give enough coverage. But he quickly added beaded cap sleeves and a cathedral veil completing the look. It was so satisfying because he took a dress and edited the design to custom fit me which is what every bride wants. I was looking for a dress under $600, which I did find; however, the overall experience was ruined by the passive aggressive manager. The establishment itself needs revamping and more organization. It almost is like everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. All in all, each employee was as helpful and pleasant as they could be, but could use more training. I gave them one star but it should be zero stars! I purchased a dress from David's Bridal and opened up a credit account for the promotional discount. The dress cost me $400 but I was told the alterations would be an additional $350 plus a rush charge to get it back within a few weeks. I paid for the services and showed up to pick up my dress on Christmas Eve. When I arrived the workers stated the dress wasn't ready and it wouldn't be ready until after the New Year. I explained that I paid for expedited services as well as I was told it would be ready on 12/24 and my event was on 12/26 and the Store would be closed. Lisa spoke to the alterations lady and I was told they would complete the alterations before the end of the day. I waited some time there and decided to leave and when I arrived it still wasn't ready. So I had to wait again. I finally leave with my dress and got home only to notice there were beads and threads hanging. The day of the event arrived and I'm in my dress and once I was all pulled up into the gown my Mom realizes that there is no latch or hook. Imagine the disgust! I couldn't allow it to ruin my day so I wore it as it was. I arrived to the store the following day to speak to Brenda, the Store Manager. Showed her pics and the dress. She agreed to return $100 of my money to my David's Bridal card and keep the dress for alterations to fix all of the beading and hook. I was told give them some time as they were short and had other dresses. I returned some other items that I purchased such as a robe and shoes. Some time went by and I just happen to review the statement and notice that the credit had never been applied to my card. I called into Customer Care and bc I was only an authorized user I wasn't allowed to look into it and my husband was out working out of the Country. At this point some 3 months or so had gone by. No one had contacted me about the dress and I called in one day to only be placed on hold and I never called back as I completely forgot. I got a phone call that the dress was finally ready for pick up in September. So I went in to the Store to ask for Brenda and was told she no longer works there. I would need to speak to Tina. Spoke to Tina who not only wasn't friendly but very argumentative about the fact that I waited and that she couldn't assist me. David's Bridal has always been known for the lack of Customer Service but I thought that maybe under new management that things would be better. This isn't my first bad experience but it's definitely my last! The Store isn't clean, dressing rooms are a mess and the employees aren't nice! These four stars are all for Sharon, the fantastic consultant who hooked me up with the perfect dress. 1. Even though she was juggling multiple appointments, she still managed to give me the help I needed. I rolled up in there with some vague ideas about what I might like and a totally inappropriate bra for dress shopping, and she immediately helped me find some good options and got me into some decent foundation garments. I assumed that the strapless bra was standard practice at David's Bridal until I was helped by a way way less helpful consultant at a DB outside of Houston. 2. When I returned with a clearer idea (I knew I wanted something tea length), she brought me what I asked for, and then when I made my comments about what did and didn't work, she thought of the perfect dress. 3. She totally put up with my boisterous and opinionated friends. I don't love everything about DB - when I call I'm sometimes put on hold for way too long and some of the dresses are kind of cheap in appearance - but I've had some solidly awesome experiences dress shopping there. I've been there on multiple occasions: once to try on different styles of dresses, with no intention of purchasing a wedding dress for myself (Let's be honest, their wedding dresses look cheap), once to try on bridesmaid dresses for myself for my sisters wedding (I went with Vera Wang, can't go wrong with Wang!), and on other occasions for flower girl dresses, or to grab their Men's Warehouse tuxedo coupon, lol. The service is usually not great, except for the time when I was paired with a bridal consultant who was in-training... Which to me means, their training likely needs to emphasize quality customer service, since once the employees finish training, they seem to have unnecessary attitudes. This review would have been higher if not for the below issues alterations alone should make it 5 stars see the end for alterations Store manager and policy of ordering dresses: Fyi if u want to try on a dress and they dont have your size at that location or any nearby location and you decide u still want that dress beware: first u must purchase the dress in full and pray it fits while they will tell u that they will give u store credit if it does not fit properly or u dont like what they send in... so yes ladies in this case u must pay for a dress in full before ever trying it on if u order it. I did such a thing and after trying on other similiar dresses and being measured for my size the dress came in and i needed it altered for legnth which due to my event date made this a rush job meaning more money. See my review on alterations. Store manager: metairies store manager is very rude. Yes i may not have purchased my dress at your location and yes my dress is not a wedding gown but its important to me. That by no means gives u the right to be rude and unprofessional... There was bad weather in the area and she was not accomadating or helpful eventhough i was only there for alterations and not buying a dress... Other staff members are more understanding and accomodating... this alone would have made me go else where for dresses in the future.. Please remember you never know what kind of day the other person may be having. Alterations: if ever in need of alterations please pay Basma a visit at Davids Bridal in metairie shes the alterations manager. She definitely goes above and beyond her job 5 stars for her. After ordering a dress from davids bridal and not leaving much time for alterations not her fault or my own (please note when i ordered the dress i ordered it thinkin it shouldnt need alterations bc i tried on similiar dresses and they were perfect when this dress came in its 4 in longer than all the other dresses in my size). Basma squeezed me in her very busy schedule of brides and bridesmaids. She also took the time when i came in to ask what my event was for and listened to my story. She measured my heels as i would be doing a shoe change at this event (this event puts me in this gown for most of the day) to ensure i would be comfortable with the dress legnth and wouldnt drag the dress as i got tired. She took the extra time to have me move around after she pinned the dress to make sure i liked how the dress looked and felt before altering my dress. I also spoke to her while she was pinning my dress making my visit more personable which made it more enjoyable. She definitely went above and beyond to make sure i was satisfied with my dress. Yes this was a ballgown and not a wedding dress or bridesmaids dress but this dress was important to me and she took the extra time to show me that it was important to her to have my business. I have seamstresses in my family that could have altered my dress but not in time for my event and yes i know im talking about a simple hem job but add the fact that the dress was ordered made of very delicate material and my event was fast approaching...there was no room for errors or to order a replacement dress if something went wrong. Worst experience in retail I've had in a while. Staff very unorganized, at least the main women I dealt with. I made an appointment with the dress tags I wanted to try already in my phone when I got there--it still took over an hour for the lady I was assigned to find A dress for me to try and 2 for my one bridesmaid. We stood there doing nothing for an hour with only a passed along word that our attendant was on the phone dealing with something else. Two hours after arriving in the store she had only brought me three dresses to try on. I'm sure there is some good staff there, I know the girl next to me looked like she was gaining attention from hers, but no such luck from Kendra. I will never go back to that location. read more

Their prices are great but selection is very limited for brides. The customer service isn't the best either. I had one sales associate ask why I wanted the style I wanted & the one that was "helping" me kept walking away. Each time I got out the fitting room with a gown on, I had to look for her. If this was simply based off of the consultants, it would be 5 stars. The rest of the staff really bring it down. I came in on a busy Saturday with no appointment but needed to get a bra and slip for my dress. The person deciding who was going with what consultant was not nice at all. I told her I would take all of 5 minutes. She informed me that she just had 17 people walk in who also needed appointments. She obviously needs to learn how to better handle paying customers. My consultant that day was Irene. She looked a bit stressed but got me the items I needed and let me try them on. She worked efficiently and had a smile on her face even though she was busy. Then I had to wait 10 minutes to check out. I'm not sure where the cashiers disappeared to but by the time one showed up, there were already 3 other people in line. Standing at the checkout line, I saw that the preservation kit was on sale for $99.95 (half off). I told the cashier that I was going to purchase that as well. She walked over to the manager and came back and said that it was only that price for someone purchasing their dress that day. The manager then shouted across the cash wrap area that if I found a coupon on the website I could use it bust she wasn't going to sell it to me for the price it was marked. I ended up pulling up their website where the price online was $129.95. When I purchased my dress in April 2016, no one said that I could get a discount on the preservation kit. I pointed out to the cashier that there was nothing on their pricing sign that says that price was only valid on the date you purchase your dress. At this point, my purchase was complete and I had the privilege of watching the manager continue to be rude to the staff members for various reasons. I'm glad that my bridesmaids ended up purchasing dresses elsewhere. I'm finished with all my bridal shopping needs at this point and wouldn't return even if I wasn't. Here's to hoping their alterations department doesn't mess up my dress like their manager ruined my Saturday. read more
