Some of the best fish and grits I ever ate I enjoy going to David's Catfish House it's a beautiful place to go

Our go to place in Atmore when we don't feel like cooking. Everything is fresh, hot and the Cole slaw is my absolute favorite in the world! Drive through can be a wait but that says the food is great! Dine In is quick and the service is always great! If you don't want fried, get blackened, cajun seasoning is divine! Would recommend for big groups or just a few. read more

This has become my favorite go to for fried catfish. There are David's Catfish locations that are closer to my home but this place is so worth the drive. There is something about the hospitality and atmosphere at this location that always makes me feel right at home. The catfish is always fresh, and my "go to" . My sweetheart had the grilled shrimp and really enjoyed them as well. We both agree that the coleslaw is the best we've ever had. One thing that has changed is the way they do the AYCE catfish. In the past it was on the menu and you were charged for it even if you only ate one plate. Now you order the 3 piece dinner and if you decide you want more you can add the AYCE option and order more filets.. Folks, THAT is being customer focused and EXACTLY how it should be done. My 1st time there. The food was just okay. Nothing grand! The coleslaw was decent. The atmosphere leaves alot to be desired. They need to shut down pull all that stuff off the walls and clezn/dust it. I felt like something was gonna fall in my food ugh. read more

I have a shellfish allergy and I asked if their chicken was cooked separately from the shrimp. They stated they can't guarantee that it would be. So someone who is allergic to shellfish this is not the place to go. I had a grits while everyone was enjoying their fried stuff. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

Shrimp wasn't tasteful at all, grits lumpy no flavor. Oyster wasn't fully cooked and it was a long piece of blonde hair in the oyster... Do not recommend them at all so disappointing, wow!!!! read more

I had the Cajun fish in a tin with a sweet potato and turnip greens. Everything was piping hot and delicious. Clean plate award. Others had an oyster poboy and the fried catfish. Not a single complaint. read more

Actually a lot more impressive than I'd have though. Being a Bay Minette, AL native you hear about David's Catfish House for years and after eating there twice I'll say that the food is very good, service is always decent, and prices are good. Would recommend. read more

A great local place with good food and friendly service. I was pleasantly surprised with the option to have my fish cooked bone in which is the way to go in my opinion. Fish was fresh and moist as expected with their level of turnover. Of the sides, coleslaw was the best as recommended by my super awesome waitress Hayden (let me know if spelling is off). We were out in Atmore Alabama for business and stopped in for some good southern cooking. I was delighted with the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and fast. We were seated and had our food within 20 minutes. I had the catfish. It is lightly breaded in cornmeal and fried. I have had fried fish in monterey california that does not even compare to this place. It was not greasy and the fish was light and fresh. I tried the cheese grits and boy were they delicious too. The hush puppies were a little more firm than i like but the flavor was really good. Coleslaw was very finely shredded and super yummy. You can even get a gallon of coleslaw to go. My husband had fried crab claws and they were good. The crab had breaded coating kinda reminded me of KFC. He said he could eat them all day long. I probably am not the best one to rate this place, as I grew up in the region where we had "Fish Camp" restaurants. For those who are looking for that, don't look here, unless catfish is all you want. You can get some shell fish and shrimp, the slaw is okay. And it's expensive for the portions and quality. Service is erratic and atmosphere is crowded. I don't go unless it's a group outing, and then it's purely as a good sport; I eat slaw and baked potato. read more

My mom and I ate at David's in Bretwon on 4-15 for my birthday. The food was great and service was good absolutely delicious.

Ate here with my family and was very disappointed. Service was subpar at best. The waitress was not rude, but she was indifferent to us and ignored us most of the time. Service like this I can tolerate if the food makes up for it, it did not. I tried the catfish fillets and a seafood platter. I am of the opinion that different types of seafood should taste like different types of seafood. Every piece of fried anything I had there tasted like old grease and nothing else. Also the cheese grits were lumpy and very displeasing. The other reviewer that said the grits are good has obviously never had a southern grandmother's grits or she would have a reasonable basis for comparison. The coleslaw was pretty good. I was happy about this as it is one of my favorite things from going to the old David's location in Malbis when I was growing up. Overall, with the exception of the coleslaw, you could get better quality food if you bought it pre made out of your grocers freezer and microwaved it at home. read more

Great shrimp and catfish. Shrimp and grits are amazing and it must be the Family Size!! since you get SO MUCH FOOD! The coleslaw is terrific and the service is pretty good. Love how they leave you the whole pitcher of tea just in case they get busy. Try it, you'll LOVE it! read more
