This review has mixed feelings as I really wanted to like this restaurant. We pass by it on many of our outings, and it's always busy. After a long day of running errands, we stopped in for dinner. I was disappointed with the food at the seafood bar and the dessert bar, so I decided to order something from the menu. The waitress was nice and friendly and answered all our questions. I decided on the shrimp with fries. My hubby decided on the all-you-can-eat. My meal came out hot and quickly, so I was able to eat with him. My fried shrimp were tasty. My husband focused on the boiled shrimp from the seafood bar and he said the flavor was good but about 25% of the shrimp were overcooked to the point of being mushy and inedible. I'm not sure if they close early when they aren't busy. Everyone began cleaning up about 45 minutes before closing time and clearing the food bar shortly after we were seated. We ended up feeling rushed out even though we were finished with about 1/2 hour before closing. read more

I'm not sure what to think about this place and the third star is solely on the strenght of the really sweet waitress that was the only waitress on the team that night. She was awesome. The ambiance is not great, which can be totally forgotten by good food. The chicken fried steak was decent, the fried pickles salty and might need new grease, and the baked potatoes tiny. This was a great spot for a quick stop after visiting the area for business. I saw that the fried oysters were highly recommended, so I had to snag me an order. The service was great. The ladies serving and manning the register were so kind. They even offered me a drink and a place to sit while I waited. I declined the drink, but thought it was a kind gesture. I have to give places like this at least 4 stars because I almost feel like I'd be being ugly to someone's mawmaw if I spoke ill of it..... if that makes sense. That's the vibe it gives; a down home country kitchen where you just come in and make yourself at home. You can smell the fried chicken from the parking lot and what an amazing smell it is! I opted for the country fried steak and was happy with my choice- it was enough food that I had it for lunch and I'll be having the rest for dinner! The crab claws were so fresh I think they may have caught them that morning. Everything was hot and fresh and tasty and the service was as friendly as it comes. I was disappointed that there was no longer a salad bar- but our waitress offered to make us a salad so that's not really a valid complaint. God must have wanted us to eat here today. We thought we'd get off the interstate, see what interesting place we might find to eat. First place we tried was reserved for a private event. Second place had "technical difficulties" and wasn't serving anything fried today. As we drove back toward the interstate, resigned to the thought of a mediocre fast food meal, we happened to see Street's. So we stopped. Glad we did! There's currently no salad bar. Our salads were served individually wrapped. But they were fresh and crispy and so good! Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, nothing fancy, but it was quality. Our waitress said the owner buys produce from local farms and gardens, whatever is in season, and we could tell. I got the fried catfish with onion rings. The catfish wasn't cornmeal breaded like I'm used to - more like a beer batter. But it works! All four of us approved. The onion rings are homemade, and they were the star of the show. These now top the list for best onion rings we've had. They're worth the drive off the interstate. And the hush puppies were made with white cornmeal and quite tasty. Not greasy at all. The stuffed crabs my husband ordered were quite good, and my boys scarfed down their shrimp poboy and grilled chicken poboy. We're glad we ended up here, even if it wasn't where we first intended to go. Take the time to drive to Bay Minette if you're passing through Mobile and eat at Street's! read more

Need to try again. We went for the buffet and the "best peach cobbler in the country". Sadly, it is not the best cobbler. The cobbler part is a bit gummy and thick. However, the banana pudding was exceptional and the pecan bars were also delicious. The day we went, the buffet had grilled pork chops, fried pork, canned peas, some very tasty white beans, fried squash and maybe beef tips in gravy. The squash was the best, followed by the beans. "A Lil' Ole Bitty Pissant Country Place"- If you think that phrase is an insult for this place you probably won't like eating here. If you think its a good thing then you just might. The menu entrees are a little overpriced for me on a few things and the service is inconsistent. However their "bread and butter" are their buffet service and pies. The buffet is usually filled with comfort foods and well liked in the area. Don't look for designer decor but the food is decent. However.. that being said.. and although everything on my plate was "fried into submission".. it was damned good. The salad was good and was the only oasis of freshness to be had but that was welcome as well; though they didn't seem to know what Caesar dressing was. They offered me "Italian." Ordered the fish po-boy; it was huge, bun was fresh, fish was good but could have used some seasoning (it was good) and the fried oysters; they were fried to perfection (highly recommend). I love that I can go up to the drive-thru and get banana pudding in a Styrofoam container for $2. That is the single best thing about this restaurant. They advertise "homemade desserts" but most of them are not excellent. We took out-of-town family for Sunday lunch buffet a couple of months ago and I was not impressed by the quality of the meal nor the cleanliness of the restaurant. I'm from VA visiting A friend and was told about this place to try, so I did and I love their Tartar sauce! It has a little crunch and it's filled with flavor! I really am a big fan. To go with my tartar sauce I had blackened shrimp and side of their Queso Seafood dip. I'm a huge fan of the chips that goes with the dip but the blackened shrimp was ok. Every town has a place where the local "Old Man Club" meets for coffee, gossip, and reviewing the local geriatrician within sight of no less than 2 Sheriff's deputies. In Bay Minette, Alabama that place is Street's. It's not very good, but it's the perfect distance from the beach to make you stop and eat here. The parking lot is usually full of pickup trucks which is usually a good sign. Here it's more of a mirage. The atmosphere is divey diner all the way, with that small-town bonus of being extra cluttered with bric-a-brac and the staff's personal belongings. The mayonnaisey salads on the bar were kinda gummy looking and the tomatoes were cut up at least a couple days ago. I'll probably stop back in next year too, but I can't really recommend it to you. read more

We will not go back here. One of the servers, although nice, seemed abnormally fidgety and the other seemed mad about something. It took a long time to get our order in and a long time to get our food. The coffee was like water, so we had to ask for different coffee to which the nice server replied with, "It's like tea isn't it? This happens all the time." Then she brought us some proper coffee. The grits were chunky. The shredded hash browns were chewy and cold. The biscuits were greasy and the tomato gravy that came with it was actually brown gravy with some flavorless tomatoes thrown in it. The gravy tasted like grease, and not in a good way. Everyone ordered the eggs well done because of fear of getting sick after reading other reviews. The bacon was burnt. The price wasn't bad. It was $25 for four people. Don't go. Coming home from the beach on a Sunday afternoon: our options were limited and our appetites were hard to please. Thanks to the wonderful Sunday Buffet (menu items still available too, just not our choice) we were 100% satisfied. All the country cooking you can imagine and a huge dessert buffet too. Sweet tea was just right and the great waitresses and waiters kept our cups filled and kept the empty plates cleared off the table to make room for whatever we were going back for next. The first thing our waitress said to us was, "We ain't got no sodas. Tea? Water? Or Lemonade?" After receiving our water, she went on to tell us that they were TRYING to transition from breakfast to lunch so the buffet was not up yet, and anything we ordered from the menu would take a while. It was 11:00. This restaurant is obviously an established restaurant, one would think they would have this transfer mastered by now! We asked about what was on the buffet. The waitress said that she did not know, but there was always fried chicken on it! STOP! She should have walked back to the kitchen and asked! We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, two salads, a bowl of gumbo, and a burger to share. She came back out and said that the kitchen did not have time to cook the onion rings. The salads were pre-made and covered with plastic wrap. The burger was cooked so hard it could have been used as a hockey puck! To put the cherry on the top when we checked out, there was a sign behind the register that read, "Cash is cheaper. There will be a 4% charge on all debit cards." Pass by this restaurant! I took my son to Streets Seafood on 9/08/2020. We were trying to find a nice place to eat while in Bay Minette. I have seen their sign for years, but never stopped to try it. Well, here is my experience. As we walked in, the restaurant looked fine and well kept. We sat down and the waitress came and got our drink order. When she came back, my son knew what he wanted and ordered a double cheeseburger with fries. I had a few questions. I wanted seafood and asked if I could get the catfish grilled, she said no. Ok, so what about the snapper and grouper? she said yes. I asked how many fillets came with the meal. She had to run and check because she said she didn't know. That was fine. When she returned, she said that they both came with one fillet, but that it was a large piece of fish. Ok, I ordered that. I was asking her about the salad that was listed with the meal. she abruptly said they don't do the salad bar anymore, but had a side salad. Then a group of men came in and she just turned and walked away from me and to them. WTF! Ok, I was willing to let that slide. Well then, she brings my son a fill up on his drink and drops it down on the table hard. I was like, oh hell no. Still, I held my composure. Our food finally comes and my sons cheeseburger looks great. Mine on the other hand, looked pitiful. The piece of grouper was the size of my baked potato. I ask the waitress if that little piece of fish is what they call "a big fillet". Well, I started to eat and it was cold. I was furious! I asked to speak to the manager. A man walked over and casually "I hear you want to talk to me". Well, yeah I wanted to talk to him. I told him about my fish and he looked at me like he didn't believe me. I even had my son taste the fish to see if it was cold as I thought. He said it was cold. The manager felt the bottom of my plate and said it felt hot to him. He had another piece made for me. That time it was hot and tasted good, but was still a small fillet. The hushpuppies were cold too, but I didn't even bother at that point. I wish I had read the yelp reviews of this place before going there, but it was a spur of the moment decision. I will never eat there again! read more
