God must have wanted us to eat here today. We thought we'd get off the interstate, see what interesting place we might find to eat. First place we tried was reserved for a private event. Second place had "technical difficulties" and wasn't serving anything fried today. As we drove back toward the interstate, resigned to the thought of a mediocre fast food meal, we happened to see Street's. So we stopped. Glad we did! There's currently no salad bar. Our salads were served individually wrapped. But they were fresh and crispy and so good! Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, nothing fancy, but it was quality. Our waitress said the owner buys produce from local farms and gardens, whatever is in season, and we could tell. I got the fried catfish with onion rings. The catfish wasn't cornmeal breaded like I'm used to - more like a beer batter. But it works! All four of us approved. The onion rings are homemade, and they were the star of the show. These now top the list for best onion rings we've had. They're worth the drive off the interstate. And the hush puppies were made with white cornmeal and quite tasty. Not greasy at all. The stuffed crabs my husband ordered were quite good, and my boys scarfed down their shrimp poboy and grilled chicken poboy. We're glad we ended up here, even if it wasn't where we first intended to go. Take the time to drive to Bay Minette if you're passing through Mobile and eat at Street's!

I have to give places like this at least 4 stars because I almost feel like I'd be being ugly to someone's mawmaw if I spoke ill of it..... if that makes sense. That's the vibe it gives; a down home country kitchen where you just come in and make yourself at home. You can smell the fried chicken from the parking lot and what an amazing smell it is! I opted for the country fried steak and was happy with my choice- it was enough food that I had it for lunch and I'll be having the rest for dinner! The crab claws were so fresh I think they may have caught them that morning. Everything was hot and fresh and tasty and the service was as friendly as it comes. I was disappointed that there was no longer a salad bar- but our waitress offered to make us a salad so that's not really a valid complaint. I'm sure I'll eat there again and I'd recommend anyone passing through looking for a nice home cooked meal to definitely give it a try.

Stopped here while passing though town, parking lot was full so we decided to order at the window and drive to a nearby dog park to eat. Ordered the fish po-boy; it was huge, bun was fresh, fish was good but could have used some seasoning (it was good) and the fried oysters; they were fried to perfection (highly recommend). Both meals had fries with them, they were basic fries nothing to write home about. Would like to go back and see what the inside is like.

Food is good. Friendly staff. The hamburger casserole is pretty darn good with the cornbread.

For some reason I was unable to edit, I meant to say we were not charged for the salad bar.

Our query for a seafood restaurant led us here, and at first glance almost decided to leave. The seating was minimal and we had to walk up to the counter to order. While waiting, we realized it is primarily a seafood market and take-out orders for cooked food were the main business. But the reviews were great, so we gave it a try. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of food we got. An order of crab claws and shrimp came with over 40 claws and about ten shrimp, all fried to perfection with the best tasting breading ever! The atmosphere was like old time New Orleans, on the wrong side of the tracks. But relax your snobbish standards a bit, and enjoy your seafood the way it is meant to be served!

When I got in my car, a fly flew from up under the aluminum foil that they have covered the food with. And it smelled some awful. When I got home and tasted one of the crabs about to taste one of the crabs it smelt like ammonia I immediately called and told whoever answered the phone that I was bringing it back. And when I got in, they tried to tell me that they could not give me my refund. And I told them I would call the police. And they reluctantly gave me my refund.

(I recommend doing that, especially during lunch.) One of my good friends sent recommendations. My husband got the French dip. I hesitate calling it a poboy because I'm from NOLA, and outside south Louisiana, it's just a sandwich . I got the grilled shrimp lunch special with fries. Honestly, spend a little more and get the platter. I'd get them fried, but I can't have gluten. I risked cross contamination and got the fries. They were absolutely worth it. Fortunately, I didn't have a reaction. Trevor was our server, and he was excellent. You could tell he knew the regulars and locals based on how he'd approach new diners. He also gave really good recommendations. The vegetable of the day was a casserole, and Trevor told my husband that was better than the fries. My husband inhaled that casserole. If you're an Elvis fan, request to sit at the table. Overall, I'd definitely come back. For being on Open Table, just know this is a casual restaurant on the bay. Nothing frilly - just good, southern cooking. We will be back!

The chargrilled oysters unfortunately came with quite a bit of shell, which made them difficult to enjoy--though we did manage to find some actual pearl in there, so small win and fun! The grilled fish and shrimp were noticeably overcooked, and my husband's fried shrimp leaned the same way, lacking that fresh, tender bite you hope for. Sides were decent but didn't particularly stand out for my grilled dinner. Husband said slaw and hush puppies were good, my green beans were delicious. Overall, it's a lovely place with great service, but the kitchen execution didn't quite match the setting. With a few tweaks, this could easily be a standout spot.
