The tea is excellent, and consistently so. I've been drinking their bulk tea for more than a couple of years, first buying it on Amazon and then directly from the company. I swear by it; I give it as gifts. Their customer service is lacking. Change of staff maybe? Substandard communication, failing to return emails or phone calls when it's been weeks since you ordered. I'm hoping this is temporary. I was running out of my absolute favorite tea that I bought at a tea shop in California. I was considering seeing if they could ship, when my online searching revealed Davidson's Organic Teas in Sparks. To my absolute amazement, they have the exact tea I was searching for and offer online ordering and free local pick-up! What an amazing and lucky coincidence, although I imagine Davidson's is a great west coast resource for organic teas, both for shops and individuals. Although I knew I was buying Valentine tea (organic white tea, organic rose petals and natural flavor), they have great specials where you can select a couple bagged or loose leaf tea for free (with purchase) or for $5. I did both. Since they no longer have an in-person shop in Sparks, you buy online and then allow 72 hours for them to fulfill it (I received an email when it was ready). Pick-up was easy (just rang the doorbell). Btw, when they opened the door, the most amazing tea smell wafted out! Not only was my Valentine tea perfectly fresh (probably more so than from the tea shop), they also included a LOT of free tea samples, including their newest blends. Prices are bit high and quality is OK. I have had better, I have had worse. I bought an assortment of their 1 quart iced tea bags. My biggest gripe is the bags that their iced tea comes in. They fill up with air and its hard to get the tea and water out. I would say 3 out of 5 times that I go to squish the bag (like I do with every single tea bag I have ever used) the bag breaks open and your tea is ruined. For such expensive tea you dont want to waste is so then I am straining the tea through a paper towel. Not worth it. Please change your tea bags and I might consider reusing them. read more

Hardcore black tea drinker! I am one of those people who starts every day with a cup of black tea with milk. I have tried Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, Blackcurrant Berry, Haathi Malty Assam, Banaspaty Assam, Apricot Essence, Earl Grey Rose and Earl Grey Cream. They all stand up well to adding milk. I'd recommend a little extra dry tea, maybe 50% more, for the two fruit ones. BTW I prefer the Earl Greys without milk, like the Darjeeling, Oothu Black FOP, and Lapsang Souchong, which I've also enjoyed. Quality is really consistent. A plug for the new Haathi (elephant-safe) series. It sounds like a great benefit to the wild elephants you may actually see in South India, like I have, or Assam, which is where the Davidson's tea plantations are. The Haathi Earl Grey Tropical is a special treat, very fragrant! The Haathi Malty Assam is a new favorite for milk or milk & sugar, as a breakfast tea. Also makes a great iced tea. I've also purchased several specialty blends to give as gifts with homemade cookies -- the Tulsi series, the Holiday Series, Dessert Series, Asst. Decaf and Herbal Series. Very festive blends and gifts are well appreciated! I've noticed some of the comments about poor customer service. I run a very small business myself, so know how hard it is to sit down and check email multiple times a day, or every day, when you're running a warehouse. Please be patient. read more

I love tea. For me, trying new teas is one of the simple joys that make life better. So when I had the opportunity to attend a Yelp event where I could get a behind the scenes tour and try to new teas, I jumped at the chance. I have ordered Davidson's Organic teas in the past and found them to be the best teas I have tried. However, I had no idea they operated out Sparks. Kunall Patel, one of the owners, led the tour. The Patel family owns several organic tea farms in India and the majority of ingredients for Davidson's teas are sourced from those farms. Those that aren't are handpicked and organic certified by Mr. Patel. In fact, every ingredient used is verified by Mr. Patel at every stage of processing before reaching the warehouse. There, every pallet is again quality checked by Mr. Patel before being accepted into the warehouse. As the largest producer of organic teas, this level of quality control is extremely important. We were given an opportunity to tour the production line. The smell was heavenly! Mr. Patel explained that they use small batch production, as process that allows for better tea. Small batch production keeps the tea leaves from being crushed into dust. Trust me, this makes a world of difference in how bagged tea tastes. Another difference is that Davidson's doesn't staple their teabags, but heat seals them to be environmentally friendly. Somehow, in this small production room, using only 21 natural ingredients and mixing them with their tea leaves, Davidson's produces 600 tea blends. After touring the production room, we had the opportunity to do a taste test. We also had the chance to learn about "cupping," the process of quality testing the tea. Mr. Patel 'cups' every ingredient and all the blends to verify their quality. The most interesting and surprising fact I learned was they black tea, white tea, and green tea are all made from the same leaves. It is the processing that makes them white, green, or black. I also realized the importance of drinking only organic tea. Non organic teas can contain pesticides or other harmful chemicals. Yuck! The teas we tried were amazing. My favorite was the Assam (Banaspaty). This bold black tea was smooth and not bitter, like many black teas. I plan on buying a box soon. I also, much to my surprise, enjoyed the Imperial Green Tea. I am not a fan of green tea but I enjoyed this one because it lacked that grassy taste most green teas have. The white tea we tried, White Peony, had a smoky taste that reminded me of warm campfires and starry nights. I could see ordering both of these teas to enjoy also. Sadly, the majority of the teas produced by Davidson's Organic Teas are shipped out of the area. Luckily, Davidson's has a small store in their production center, open Monday through Friday. "Organic", the new buzz word has taken over he world of tea and Davidson's is one of the largest source to product companies: they source their tea from their own farms in India, as well as some from Egypt, Morocco and other places. They meet farmers in person and share their success stories with them which is something I admire. They claim to make the best Earl Greg tea and I don't think they're wrong! We got to sample a bunch of tea flavors and all of them were crisp and clean, especially their hibiscus (which is good for blood pressure or diabetic patients as well) I am a tea lover and I absolutely loved to see the passion and energy in this place. Their production room was very sanitary and we had to put on additional safety wear so that we do not contaminate the area, we weren't even allowed to touch anything in the space which I appreciated: their seriousness about the quality of their products. The co-owner, Kunal, owns a bunch of tea farms in India too and that is a big source of the tea leaf supply!! "Drink What Makes You Happy" I was the lucky recipient of a behind-the-scenes trip to Davidson's Organic Teas in Sparks, thanks to Reno Yelp Events. I had no expectations about this event other than anticipating sipping some delicious teas and touring their factory but I was completely blown away by what I experienced! While our small group waited in the hallway for the tour to begin, I perused some of the merchandise available in their retail area. They carry all sorts of devices for making tea, tea-infused jellies, loose teas, boxed teas, shirts, tea infused chocolates, and many more tea related items. I'm definitely going back for some chocolates and jams! We were greeted by one of the owners, Kunall Patel, who would serve as our tour guide. Being a tea aficionado, I couldn't wait to hear what he had to say about his business. Mr. Patel's family owns multiple organic tea farms in India. All of Davidson's teas are sourced from these farms and each bag that arrives in the warehouse must be perfect and approved by Mr. Patel or it's not used. Talk about quality control! Davidson's is the largest producer of organic tea in North America! We moved on to the production room where we were able to observe some Tulsi tea being bagged and placed in boxes. Their teabags are never stapled, like some brands are, and are heat sealed in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. Davidson's only makes small batches of tea at a time so that the leaves and additions (flowers, herbs) aren't crushed. This results in a very high quality tea. They can make over 600 different combinations using only 21 natural ingredients in addition to their tea leaves! It was taste test time and we were treated to freshly made hot samples of 5 different types of tea. My favorite was the Tulsi Rose Petal. It was delicate yet so fruity and flavorful! It reminded me of fruit loops. As we sipped our delightful samples, Mr. Patel explained how particular Davidson's is about where their ingredients come from and how important it is to only drink organic tea, even if it's not their tea. I like the flavor of this tea but expect to throw 4-5 tea bags away and clean up all the tea off the counter and floor. The design is so tight it leaves no room for the rest bag to not be torn when opening it. I called to suggest since the phone number is wrong on this pouch is to redesign it to avoid the tea bag being torn when opening. I tried shaking it to move the tea bag down, however the bag is fragile and pulling it out of the tight pouch it tore. The person on the phone made it about me doing this or that and not about customer satisfaction. Sorry Whole Foods won't be buying this brand of tea again. read more

I love tea. I love Davidson's tea. I've been trying to get out to visit their outlet for two years and finally made it today! It's not actually a store but rather some shelves on the side of a hallway. Considering the limited space, they've handed it very well. There are displays of the boxed teas (25 bags per box) that are available (at least 50 kinds) as well as tea paraphernalia for sale. The boxes are always buy 3, get one free. Additionally, there is a book of loose teas to choose from. Each type of tea is priced differently (rightfully so) and available in sample, 1/2 and 1lb bags. They offer self-serve cups of tea while you peruse and Johannah will help you as needed. She was delightful! I did some damage to my pocketbook today but I can't wait to go back! read more

Shop local. This is a manufacture/warehouse location that offers a variety of their products for purchase to consumers but not really a storefront. There is a small waiting room with a window to sign in with the receptionist. They have a small display cabinet, a really pretty coffee table displaying samples of whole leaf teas, and some free samples with hot water available. You will immediately smell the fragrant dried teas, flowers, fruits, and spices. It is a pleasant smell but very strong so if you are sensitive to scents this is a fair warning. You sign in and the receptionist will bring you back into a small room/cubicle that is set up displaying what is available for purchase. You fill out a sheet of what you want to buy along with the quantities and they fill the order (some of the items are packaged already and some need to be filled, it only takes minutes). They have a large variety of teas and tisanes (herbal teas), brewing equipment, bottles, cups, tea infused chocolate and jams. Prices weren't really discounted from what I've seen online, but they have a greater selection and you won't have to pay shipping or wait. We selected Tropical Ice Tea satchets, White tea with Peach, and a Cherries Jubiliee dessert tea. read more

I really enjoy drinking tea and quality tea is really important. My family use to own a tea plantation so I grew up learning a great deal about tea and how it is grown and how to tell quality tea. I used to shop at Teavanna in Sacramento, but the prices are very steep. At Davidson's, you get quality tea at better prices. They are not cheap teas, but paying a little more for quality, fair trade and supporting a local business is an important factor when I make decisions to purchase. A lot of teas give me headaches or I know that they use carcinogenic additives for coloring or to keep tea plants pest free. Some things I feel are more imperative to buy organic than others, and that is anything that doesn't have a peel on it, such as coffee, teas and vegetables. When I drink Davidson's tea, I haven't experienced any sickness that I experience with some teas sold at local retailers. I came across this tea from my parents, who have high standards for tea (my dad is from India, where much of their favorite teas are grown, so its an earned snobbery). I ordered what I thought would be a delicious herbal blend loose-leaf tea called Tulsi Rose Petals. I was excited to brew a cup when it finally arrived (took several weeks). As soon as I tasted it I knew something was wrong. Apparently Davidson's adds Stevia artificial sweetener to some of their herbal blends, so it's no wonder this tea tastes like really bad diet soda. Be sure to read the description of each tea, as I missed this detail. It's unreasonable to expect that artificial sweetener would be added to an herbal tea. So disappointed. I have wanted to come here for years-seriously years. I work right down the street, and had heard that they had a little storefront. Yesterday my mom and I had about an hour for lunch together, with no real plan. I suggested we head over to Davidson's to check it out, as she is also a lover of tea. We pulled up and we almost turned around because it didn't appear from the outside that they sold tea at their warehouse. My mom pushed me to go inside and ask anyhow, and I am glad we did. We were told to sign in, and someone would bring us to the shop. Almost immediately a sweet lady greeted us and took us through a few sets of doors to a small room with a ton of teas. It smelled amazing. She explained the different sizes-8 packs, 25 packs, 100 packs (in most varieties) and the different pricing. She also showed us their new Ayurvedic line of teas, which I immediately was drawn too. I had come with the idea of just purchasing their french vanilla, as I had sampled it at Yoga Loka and fell in love. (Yoga Loka offers Davidson's tea to their students.) After seeing all the different types . . . I ended up with 4 boxes of 25. I picked up French Vanilla, Chamomile and fruit for my son, Energize (an Ayurvedic tea with Yerba Mate, Ashwagandha root and other ingredients) and Laxative tea, because well, I'm a foodie and everyone needs a little help sometimes! My mom picked up Lemon tea, Coconut vanilla, sleep tea (Ayurvedic line) and 1 other that I can't recall. They seriously have so many to choose from-I am already planning my next trip to pick p the rest of the Ayurvedic line for digestion, detox, and all the other things that may help what ails me! The sweet lady who helped us took her time, was super knowledgeable, and just genuinely friendly. Anyone who enjoys tea needs to come and stock up their cupboards here. Attention tea lovers!! I first discovered Davidson's Teas because the yoga studio I go to offers a variety of Davidson's Tea to their guests. After the first tea I tried (I believe it was called African Honeybush) I needed to find out where I could get more of this tea! First, I googled Davidson's Tea and found their website which has a HUGE selection and many different options when it comes to what kind of tea they have and how many bags are in each box. I knew I wanted to get a variety so I could figure out which ones I liked the best. On the website they offered a tea "sampler" for each category of tea (black, green, holiday etc.). Each sampler has 40 tea bags and you could get three sampler boxes for only $20. Sign me up!!! I called the store here in Sparks to see if they offered the same price in store & the woman I talked to said everything that's offered online is also offered in store. I went in the next day and the two women that were working were so extremely nice and helpful. I knew I wanted white and green tea but I couldn't decide on the last box. They guided me to the honey tea based on my other two selections and I couldn't be more happy. Each of the three samplers has four different kinds of tea so I'm still slowing trying each one! I had the priviledge of touring the Davidson's Warehouse at a Yelp Event I was invited to by a close friend. The facility is incredibly clean and organized. I was delighted to see that the co owner was so passionate about his tea knowledge and the quality he knows his customers deserve. You'll be happy to know he personally quality inspects all the tea and the various ingredients before he prepares them for his customers.
