Have been here a few times since arriving in Portland. Very low key and old school, good diner style food, but a little too casual. Today we arrived and were promptly seated and forgotten. There is a waiter, who waited on us that's time we were there, who appears to be 'burnt out'. He was focused everywhere but on us. He was overwhelmed last time with 2 tables, today there was a party of six and that must have sent him over the edge. That said there was no management oversight. So we sat for 15 minutes until we watched people seated after us getting orders taken. We got up and left. Went down the street to Elmer's and we're sure we had food before we'd have ever gotten it at Davidson's. We mentioned the confused waiter to the manager the last time we were there, clearly his last name is either Davidson or they just don't care anymore. Oh well, we won't be back. read more

Listen, if you want some good old fashioned diner style food this is the place to go. Don't go to Elmer's, don't go to Shari's, come here! They have the same great buttermilk pancakes as The original Pancake house, and offer a pretty killer chicken fried steak. In the evenings they have classics like pot roast and they offer a variety of sandwiches both hot and cold for the lunch hour. They also make a solid cherry pie and offer specials year round for seasonal favorites like apple and pumpkin. read more

Adorable little diner with the best root beer floats yet. Their menu seems endless, and their special seasonal dessert deals ($1 strawberry shortcake, 50 cents for an apple pie. etc.) are hard to beat. Best fish & chips ever! The tarter sauce was amazing too. My only disappointment was the boring cinnamon roll. It was terrible.

This was our first visit and what we ate was very good. Everyone was very nice Brianna, Greg (especially) and the hostess. I ordered the French dip and it is was SO good that I was disappointed that there wasn't more after my last bite. My husband had the coney dog and he enjoyed it as well. For a Sunday evening before 6 this place was busy but we got seated right away. I bought a cinnamon roll to go; you can't beat their price for this huge roll! We will definitely be back! read more

They have really good salads, actually. The decor is very casual, unless you have a booth, you are having intimate conversation with the people around you. The place is clean. The customers are definitely on the elderly side, bring your patients. Service has always been very good. Really, my only complaint is that the prices are very high. My home away from home!! Been gobbling it down here for YEARS now!! So dependable and I cannot think of anytime I was not satisfied. This is the mainstay we bring out of town visitors to! EVERYTHING is good and well thought out. Even the Mexican. Try the Chicken Chilie Verde Enchilada. Tender breast meat smothered in their delicious sauce.. MMmmmm!! Even their chips and dip are good.. Get the warm bean sauce with the chips. The rice and beans are real clean, and the bite of Polenta at the end is sweet. I've recommended the Club sandwich to many just to see it work like quicksand. They wade in all happy and excited to then find themselves up to their neck in goodness. Keep a rope handy to pull them out though. I've only seen a couple make it all the way through to the other side. The Hot Turkey (get it to go, they'll package seperately so no soggy) sandwich was my Mom's favorite. She'd sit quietly over on the side chewing with this beatific smile on her face dipping into the REAL mashed potatoes & gravy, but don't get your fingers TOO close, she'd snap'em off like a Pit Bull! Breakfast??? Tip-Top all the way around ('cept maybe the Ham Steak), and do NOT miss the freshly squeezed OJ... Right ON!!!! The waitstaff is absolutely superior and don't miss getting a coupla chocolate chip cookies or a Cinnamon Roll as you check out. Use your receipt for a discount at the car wash in the parking lot. Now go home and take a nap yew mean widdew kid, and rest up so you can come back for the Dinner Special. VERY friendly staff, clearly a place locals frequent as the servers seemed to know a lot of people eating there. Our server was really nice, and very attentive. I got a chicken enchilada with bean dip salsa, sour cream, olives....it was amazing, very flavorful which is hard to come by for a non Mexican based restaraunt. We eat here regularly and have for years. Over the years the service and food have been consistently good. This is the traditional roadside diner with a pretty diverse menu. There are a lot of regular local customers which is one sign of a consistent local gem. read more

This is our favorite Tigard restaurant. The food is always good and for the most part the service is good too. Our favorite is either their fish and chips, club sandwich or the oriental chicken salad. During the early summer their homemade raspberry pie is crazy good but they sell out of it a lot. read more

Great local breakfast spot. Very friendly and everything I have had here is homemade and yummy. Had biscuits and gravy today for mother's day, which was very good and tasted homemade. They were also giving a rose to all the moms! It was not too packed which was a nice change from the craziness at other breakfast spots on a Sunday morning. Hadn't been here in many years. Went the other night and ordered a shredded beef burrito supreme. Gotta just say it was pretty awesome. Staff was very nice and very attentive to make sure everything was as it should be. Thought about ordering the halibut, but it was pretty pricey. Four piece fish & chips dinner was $24.95. Burrito and coke was only $12 and a heckuva deal at that. read more

For years I've started most mornings with breakfast at one place or another on my drive into work. Finding a spot that opens at 6:00 or earlier is not an easy task. Davidson's is my new (permanent?) favorite. Renee is here most mornings and is quick with coffee refills and pleasant to be around. The food comes quickly and is delicious, especially if you're a fan of crisp bacon. The coffee was included in my morning special ( most places won't pass up the opportunity to charge an extra $3 for that). I have no reason to ever go anywhere else. Gotta go, foods here! read more

I've reviewed this restaurant a time or two after it was sold to the new owners. (Greg, why did you and your brother sell this? It's just not the same.) The new owners wrote back asking me to give them another chance so I did, but this time it was a take out order (due to Covid-19) for two people. We would not have gone inside to eat even if we could have done so based on how dirty the place was and the rude service we received the last two times we were there. Watery "lumpy-roux" broccoli soup, rubbery overcooked halibut pieces priced way too high, etc. All I can say is, I'm staying with my former reviews - all one star - and we will continue to patronize Bannings (as will our twice-weekly "lunch bunch of 20 friends,") which is about a mile or so down Hwy. 99W on the left side of the highway if you're going towards Portland. Davidson's just isn't Davidson's anymore. Even Shari's in King City is better than this. read more

Just moved to the area so we thought we would try the food we've been hearing so much about. Ordered the food to go from a very nice lady named Dawn, who remembered that I said the soup was for my daughter's lunch the next day and packed it up perfectly for her. That kind of service will always bring us back! We had the chicken chimichanga, chicken Verde enchiladas, the clam chowder, and a piece of the French silk pie. The chowder was to die for! Mexican food was plentiful and fresh. The French silk pie doesn't seem like the norm because it is very thick and rich but was good nevertheless. Can't wait to try their weekly specials. read more

Was impressed with the variety on the menu. Have wanted to try this place out for a while as I drive by it daily. Maybe I picked the wrong item??? I had the sliced turkey on bread with potatoes and gravy. Honestly, it was like eating high school cafeteria food. Nothing really special, potatoes where not good... almost everything was overly bland which probably suits the older clientele that eats here regularly. I love hitting random local diners, but this one just didn't work too well for me. I may have had the wrong things, so take my review with a grain of salt as I've only been there the one time. Given that, we had the halibut with fries and a salad. The salad was pretty mediocre, but it wasn't the star of the meal, so I didn't think much more. We got the 3 peice halibut for $20 and when it arrived, I wanted to get up an leave. The pieces were tiny. It's a good thing I am watching my weight. While I'm no halibut expert, I did find the pieces too tough. They had the texture of chicken breast. The tartar sauce that went with them was good, so I wonder if it was made from scratch. The star of our meal was the strawberry shortcake. It was quite excelelnt and only a buck. I think Davidson's is worth a return effort, but we are moving away soon and I just don't think I have the time to try much more of the menu. Great place for traditional American breakfast ! almost always a table ready unlike the more "popular" breakfast places nearby, no 1 hour waits here. Plus the seasonal menu items like peach pie and strawberry sundaes are great, some are only like 35 cents. read more

I have been going to Davidson's since the early 70's and their food has always been consistant and a great place to go for sandwiches. However tonight will be our last. We ordered the baked ham and cheese sandwiches. They came on white bread ( supposed to be rye) so we complained and they did them over. The sandwich is usually piled high with ham and there were two very thin slices on our sandwiches! The other problem was the waitress never asked us if we wanted beverages.....just took our sandwich order and left. We left and went somewhere else for dessert. Very disappointed! read more
