My first day in Oregon visiting my cousins, we stopped here for breakfast. I ordered the Create-Your-Own Omelet ($7.95 + $0.90 for add-ons). There were some good choices for ingredients--although I wish they had a poultry option. Nonetheless, I got it with mushrooms, spinach, Swiss cheese, and green pepper. The omelet came out full of flavor and the eggs were buttery too! It came with a good sized side of hash browns, which were exceptional. They make their own root beer. When I asked about it, our waitress provided a free sample. It was similar to A&W--very creamy. My girlfriend and I split the cinnamon roll, which was amazing! It had a homemade feel to it--without that fake frosting taste. My only complaint is the price for the omelet add-ons. 90 cents is okay for sausage or bacon or ham, but not for things like spinach, mushrooms, or tomatoes. I was excited to hear that they makes great in house root beer, good maple syrup and great pancakes. However when i got the food there wasn't that much in the way of eggs and bacon in quantity or quality. The pancakes were ok but wasn't super good. Stopped in to buy one of their amazing raspberry pies. Waited for the young hostess to return after seating diners, she asked how she could help me, I looked at the one raspberry pie in the case by the register and her I'd like to buy it. She looked at it, then glanced at the case back by the dining counter and responded, "yeah, that's our last one and its reserved". Then informed me I could try again tomorrow. I suggested as I left that she needs to remove if from the case. She needs training on customer service. I go to Davidson's probably once a week for breakfast on weekend mornings because I live next door and am often too hungover to cook myself eggs. This place has the BEST breakfast ranging from eggs and bacon to cinnamon roll french toast (which my boyfriend lives for.) Admittedly, their scrambled eggs aren't the best, but their over medium eggs are on point. Fun fact: you can get coffee to go for no extra charge if you order coffee with your meal. read more

Davidson's could get 4 stars. Here's how they can roll up their sleeves and get the ol' Yelp ticker moving. My 3 star honors goes to places that are pretty good, but can be hit and miss. That's exactly what you have here. 2 pieces of Halibut and sides for $10? The Halibut was actually quality fish in a great breading, easily rivaling Corbett/Hawth Fish Houses. Yet the dish was served with house made slaw, but run of the mill potatoes that tasted previously frozen. That's what you get here, beyond decent food brought down by short cuts. I had an incredible piece of buttermilk fried chicken, but it was served with what tasted like instant gravy on instant mashed potatoes. Sad, because again the cornbread was perfect whether it was from scratch or a mix. If the place was a touch cleaner, a little more attention to detail in the ingredients, it would be top notch 4 star material in no time. Davidsons is a great, accessible restaurant perfect for all ages (from toddlers to the elderly). Their fish and chips are a must and I've enjoyed homey favorites there like grilled cheese and fries. Really, it's nothing fancy, but you'll leave satisfied :). THUMBS UP! read more

My wife and I go every friday for dinner. She loves the beef stroganoff and navy bean soup. I love the halibut with a big slice of their homemade corn bread. Or the patty melt..makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The only thing I really dont like is the mashed potatoes remind me of the ones in a swanson frozen tv dinner. My husband and I decided to try Davidsons for the first time this morning. We've lived just a few miles away for a few years now. Instead of going to one of our normal breakfast places we decided to give Davidsons a go. IT WAS A HORRIBLE IDEA. First off its Tuesday and the restaurant was not all that busy like you would expect for a Tuesday morning/early afternoon. It seemed alright at first. We where sat right away at a nice enough table and although it was not all that busy we waited 15 minuets for someone to even come to our table and ask if we wanted something besides water to drink and that someone was the host that sat us. Finally we ordered our food and received our drinks. After another more standard wait for the food to be cooked we received our breakfast. I ordered the Cinnamon roll French Toast with 1 Egg and sausage and My husband got the breakfast burito. Let's just say that the food was not up to par. My french toast tasted stale and old and I was not a happy camper. After the long wait and the subpar food all I wanted to do was leave. I didn't give them a second chance to make something else because my husband was not impressed by his meal eaither. The only hilight to this place in my opinion is the Home brewed Root beer by far it was the best thing I tasted at this place. read more

The fat kid does NOT approve. I hit this place up to bum some quarters once for the car wash. It didn't look interesting at the time, but I asked the waitress inside if she thought it was good. She told me they were pretty good and I should give it a chance. So I stopped by with my girlfriend. Anyways, I like to judge a restaurant on it's ability to cook a meal I couldn't easily do myself,and I definitely better not be able to do a better job. This place really dropped the ball. My girlfriend ordered a simple omlette with hashbrowns, and I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy. The Omelette was basic, and not seasoned, but she liked it so I can't complain much. The hashbrowns were miserable. The cooks didn't even add seasoning salt or anything. it was just fried potatoes. It was as bland as it could get, and probably came from some frozen back of pre-made hasbrowns. The biscuits and gravy was a disgrace. This place should be ashamed to serve it. First off, you gotta cook up some sausage to put in your sausage gravy. Making generic gravy from a box and adding in diced up frozen breakfast sausage links does not a sausage gravy make. The biscuit was nice and fluffy, but a bit bland in itself. Honestly, this place really boofed the booch. Where do I start. My friend and I were not really hungry but knew we should get a bite. I ordered their soup and salad. Soup was supposed to be cream of broccoli, i know there was broccoli cause i saw the green specks. However that's all that was going for it. The flavor was indescribably odd. Not what you expected. Definitely NOT broccoli flavor. It also had chunks of roux, the soup thickener. I also ordered the side salad. A heap of lettuce with 3 tomato slices. That's it. My friend ordered the marionberry pie ale mode. He was served a cold pie with the ice cream. We asked why it wasn't warmed, waitress said default was pull from ther cooler, cut and serve. 2 Reasons to Enjoy This Place: 1. I've had a lot of fish and chips in my time, but they are by far the best. Weird, right? They even beat out Pacific Seafood's restaurant in Newport. Went here before a play over at Broadway Rose Theater a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't expecting it to be the kind of place it was when I arrived. When I looked it up on the internet it looked more like tiny diner type place instead of what it was. It seemed closer to a Sharis /Dennys but more close to home cookin. I've been in places like this before, but not in this kind of location. I know the food was good and I ate every bit of it. I was able to find something as well as my gluten senitive friend. It's been a while since I've been there but it's a nice little place. The place itself isn't big at all but it always seems full all the time even past peek hours. Went to the Davidson's with my mom. I ordered the spinich omlet with fruit and whole wheat toast. My mom, she ordered the BLT with salad. For the price it was worth I thought it was just a wee bit expensive. The spinich was fresh for my omlet but the BLT, was little dissapointed. The lettece is all shreaded and not the typical lettece leaf. In my opinion I think it looks better with a leaf, but that's my opinion. The salad was a little brown but still edible. It wasn't fresh but again...still edible. The service of this place was pretty good. I liked the server, she was every helpful to what we wanted. It was service with a smile. A place worth going to. Ate here earlier this year and just now picking up the review draft. It was good - the soup was merely okay, as was the chicken; the fajitas and corn bread were good; the banana malt was amazing. This place is a solid "A-OK." This place is stuck a few decades in the past but that does not make it bad. It's a solid choice for a semi-quick meal with family and friends. I was surprised at how busy it was at 2pm on a Sunday. Soup is made from scratch daily and you can tell. Not too salty and and a good consistency. I phoned in an order for carryout this evening. I ordered a coney dog, and TWO orders of Chips, Salsa and Bean dip. I went into pick up my own order at the resturant and the hostess was nice. She didn't review the order physically which what should ALWAYS be done at any resturant. I paid and tipped and went on my way home. After arriving home I noticed that I DIDN'T RECEIVE any salsa that I ordeded. The salsa is the whole point because it's that good! I called the restaurant and explained that I was just there ten minutes ago and picked up my own order and explained that I was missing items. Instead of the lady appologizing she in turn asked someone next to her who argued and said they put it in the bag. Long story short. I want a refund for both orders for the chips, salsa and bean dip because of the incontinence. The lady put me on hold came back and said I'm sorry we can have you come back for the salsa but we cannot give you a refund for that amount. The manager never spoke to me over the phone because he is an arrogant, cheapskate, micromanaging jerk. The salsa is amazing and I didn't feel that this was my fault. The order should be checked at pickup. No real appology. I never went to pickup the salsa because for family betime reasons and they only refunded me $2.50 for the price of the salsa!!!! The saddest part is that I grew up going to this restaurant as a child and was treated disrespectfully over salsa and made to feel like this was my fault-the customer! read more

It was a pretty decent meal. This place was super busy when we went. It seems like it's one of those places that is too small/cramped for the traffic it receives, which made it a bit uncomfortable and difficult. We came in with a big group of 11 people, which is a large task for a server especially when there was an equally large group right next to us. We had Stephanie for our server and she was very nice and did a great job. I got some of the fresh squeezed orange juice and it tasted good but I wish it was chilled a bit. For food I ordered a short stack of 2 pancakes and i got the combo which comes with 1 egg and either bacon or sausage. The cakes were good, large. The sausage was kind of dry and shriveled but it had an okay flavor. I also got a side of hashbrowns which I was not impressed with. It seemed like they were undercooked and not a nice brown. Overall the food was a bit underwhelming for the slightly high price but I'd probably come here again! read more

So sad to have to write this review, but I hope to save other past loyal customers their hard earned money. We have been going to Davidson's for over 25 years. It has been our "go to" restaurant and had never disappointed, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Up until recently, we have always experienced excellent service and food. Tonight my husband paid $12.95 for a breakfast plate that included a "hamburger steak". Well, what he got was an extremely thin and small piece of hamburger- not even near a normal size patty. In addition, none of his meal was hot and the eggs were not prepared correctly. This is the 2nd time recently that we have been very disappointed in both the food and the service. The almost empty parking lot at 5:00 pm should have been a clue...we noticed it right away. Unfortunately, and sadly, we will not be back. There are too many other great options near by, and that's where our money will go! read more

I have been going to Davidson's since 1973 when it was Davidson's Frost-top. The burgers were always awesome. Until I went in late July and had the worst burger I have ever had there. Just moving to the area, i have always wanted to find a place to have breakfast at. I am very spoiled since before I moved, I have had the best breakfast place in my opinion to go to. The food was OK, nothing to make you run or go to it. The service was minimal at best. I took my son into here and our server Renee told me that the kids meal came with a free drink. My son was satisfied with water but what were the options for the drinks as I didn't get to that on the menu. She started naming a large option of drinks including OJ. My son wanted OJ and so she brought it. When the bill came I was charged for the OJ. I brought it up to their attention and they asked Renee and she said that the OJ is a more expensive menu item so it wasn't included. I asked why she would have said it was included with the kids menu then and she said, well it costs more then others and walked off. I don't think I will be going back. The style of food isn't what i am into a lot and the service leaves something to be lacking. i will continue to try and find a breakfast place but this place won't be it. read more

I have dined here many times through the years.... breakfast is good... however very pricey.... for the portion....had dinner there recently.... ordered their meatloaf... very disappointing... tasteless, vegetables under-cooked... thrown on the plate, with lots of water, instead of being drained properly ...mashed potatoes tasteless,,, instant not homemade... gravy out of a jar..... the best one is the salad served on a small saucer or bread plate ...diced lettuce every time you try to take a forkfull it falls off the plate the worst meal ever...
