I should have read the reviews. Had issues with my AC not turning on. Sent a technician who found the secondary pan full of water and insulation in front of the drain line. He removed the insulation and said the pan would drain and everything should be ok. Said the switch would keep unit from turning on. The unit was running when he left. Fast forward about 2 weeks, my heater would not turn on. Call again. Same tech comes back. His diagnosis, the transformer getting hot because the heat kit is going bad. It has to cool off before allowing heat to come on. I ask for a quote. I wait 3-4 days. Nothing. So I call. Office calls tech who tells them he created it and already sent it to the office to send to me. (I know this because he called to tell me). They send me a quote for "Diamond" level install: $660. Note, there are NO details on what "Diamond" level includes. The heat kit is $130 online, so $530 install + what ever I get with the "Diamond" service. Knowing this, and that companies are now using invoicing software that offers "Diamond, Platinum, Silver, Bronze" levels of service, I reply to the email and ask "What do I get with the Diamond service and can I get a "Basic" install. Three days go by, no response. Mind you, I have no heater at this point and TX gets its' first freeze. So I call the office on Monday 1/6. Client rep says she will check and have Service Manager call me. Nothing. I call again on Tuesday 1/7. Client rep says she will talk to the Service Manager and SHE will call me back. Crickets. Zero return call. It's now 1/12 and I've heard nothing from them. At this point, I give up and contact Signature Heating and Cooling. They send a crew on Tuesday. They test system, and determine 1). the main controller board has water damage and signal from thermostat not making it to the fan and heat kit, and 2). there is nothing wrong with my heat kit. So the Davis AC Tech was wrong about the cause of my intermittent issue. Not only was he wrong about the test kit, but Signature confirms my unit has no secondary pan floating switch, so the Davis tech lied about that. Signature also informed me that a secondary drain was not installed on my unit when it was installed 4 years ago. This may have allowed water to flow over the main drain pan and in to the area where the controller board was -- which led to the failure. I had to wait another day for Signature to pick up a new board in Houston. A new tech came to do the controller install. I also had them install a secondary drain from the unit, and re-hang some of my ducts. Had an AC issue in my 3 sotry house where the 3rd floor did not receive any cooling while the AC unit works. Had to schedule and wait 3 weeks for the first available spot. This is a bit ridiculous and long and part of the reason this won't be 5/5. The appointment is also including a $99 call out fee (high as well..). Our technician Kevin was very nice and knew how to do his job. He checked dampeners in the attic and outside unit and found the variable drive motor was weak and overheating. Upon changing it out, the issue was fixed. Highly recommend Kevin for a raise, Davis AC as a whole is hit and miss when looking at how many times they show up to other houses in the community. read more

we have used Davis for almost 20 years. They used to be great but something has changed over the years. Last appointment they sent a technician who was still in training to do our annual service and he had to FaceTime with his supervisor to complete the work. Not sure this is the best way to handle this. We had an annual service contract and they would routinely call and remind us when the service was due. This year they forgot (and my fault for not remembering). When we called to schedule service we were a few weeks past the expiration of the annual service contract. So got nothing for our money and would have to renew for an appointment. Next they scheduled is for service and had to delay the appointment two weeks due to staffing. The day of the appointment the technician was going to arrive at 8am. At 8:30 they called to say he was diverted to an emergency. Then at 9 they called and left a voicemail that the technician was ready to be sent to our home. I called back five minutes later (I was on a work call when they called) and was told I didn't get back to them in time so they would have to reschedule. When I noted our window was 8-12, and asked why he couldn't come I was just told it was t possible. The next available appointment was two weeks out. read more

We are a long term service contract customer (5+ years). Our upstairs AC evaporator coil went out 7/15. Davis came out promptly, diagnosed the issue and ordered a new coil. A week later, I call back and ask for status - no update. Going on week 2, still no update. So I ask for a service manager to call me back. No phone call. Downstairs AC starts not cooling as much - so ask for technician to come out to verify it is OK. Technician confirms all is good - downstairs is just trying to compensate for upstairs (which is 85 degrees, 65% humidity). Again, I ask to have a service manager call me - no one calls. Finally, I called the dealer for my AC - they say no one is getting parts because there is a raw material shortage. I call Davis back and ask them to send me a quote for a new unit - says they will send right over - nothing. I then called around to several other dealers / AC companies - all giving the same response about lack of parts. Finally, I contact one who says we can change the coil out with a different brand. They were out the next morning and we finally have AC upstairs again. Although I am disappointed in the service received by Davis for this particular issue, they called after the fact and took the time to hear my concerns. I know they are having the same issue with parts as everyone else, hopefully they react with more urgency in the future. read more

Davis AC & Heating has come to our home 5 times over the past month and there is still no change. This is after compressor has been replaced and cleaning of the AC unit has been performed. Currently we can't even get a service tech to provide a follow up call with next steps. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a more reliable company. read more

HORRIBLE BUSINESS. I have a brand new home and Davis AC serviced the parts. House is about a year old. One of the parts in the furnace leaked. This caused a gas leak. They came to assess and ordered parts. They called me saying that the parts had arrived and gave me a 12p-6p time window for the following day. I called them back to confirm. I was told I would get a call 30 min before the arrival of the technician, and if I missed the call, I would lose my appointment and would have to re schedule. I moved my work schedule around to accommodate for this ridiculous 6 hour window. I had been at my house all day waiting. At 5 pm my builders warranty manager texts me saying DAVIS isn't able to come to the appointment because they ordered the wrong parts. It's infuriating how I have to hear that from someone else besides the company. They said they called me once this morning, and could not reach me. I have 0 missed calls and 0 voice-mails. HORRIBLE BUSINESS. Give 6 hour time windows for appointments. If you miss their 30 min pre appointment call, you lose your appointment and will have to re schedule. I called last week and told them that my vent hood was falling off the wall and if they could come and reattach it to the wall. They said that they could do that and quoted me $275 to reset it to the wall. This was just before the 4th of July weekend so it would be the next Wednesday to come. This was understandable. But when they came they now tell me that they don't mount the vent only install the vent system. I had to find someone else to install the vent but it will be another week before they will come. Davis AC did the work on our new build by Newmark. They did a horrible job and I know this because my brother in law whom I know wouldn't screw us over, came in and looked at all their work. We've had non stop issues with our children's rooms not heating / cooling properly. First of all, the ducts they used were 6" instead of 8" given the 3 tonne capacity of our units. The had connected them to the wrong part of the unit in the attic. They also have a vent blowing directly onto the thermostat which is one of the reasons it's not working properly. They had one duct that should have been cooling are downstairs living room connected to the upstairs thermostat when it should've been connected to the downstairs thermostat. Lastly our house is not even 4 years old and the coil burned out and they found mildew inside the unit in the attic. I've called them out the first two years because it was under warranty and not once did they check the ductwork or consider the vent blowing onto the thermostat given the issues we had with our children's rooms. They just opened the vents. Their "satisfaction guarantee" is meaningless. I called last week to talk to a manager and they have yet to call me back when all I needed was the installers code for our Honeywell units. They wanted to charge us $99 to send a tech out for the code despite all the written documentation they have in our file about our consistent issues they were never able to fix. All they care about is selling you the "platinum package" so they can continue to come and not solve your issue. Very poor customer service and they really don't care because if they did they would genuinely want to help us. I understand Newmark cut corners as well by giving Davis AC the contract because it always goes to the lowest bidder and Davis AC chose to use cheaper products such as the incorrect air ducts to increase their profit margin. The also didn't use the correct dampers too. Call Dr. Cool if you want the job done right. Ever since we dropped $6k to fix their mess, our children's rooms are heating/cooling the way they should be. I'd give them no stars if I could. read more

I wanted to take a moment to appreciate an exceptional job well done. Our technician Jermaine took the time to listen to the problem, and my self diagnosis of the issues. He verified and repaired the problem and in his assessment felt we needed some additional equipment. Installed the equipment and realized we had over paid for the install. Moments later he informed us of the overpayment and corrected the bill. Just an exceptional job all around. Paid them $1900 to make repairs. They required a deposit to order a part, and told me it would be in after a day or two and they would call me to schedule the work. A week later I called and found out the ball had been dropped on the order. Once the work was scheduled, I was not told anything was wrong but noticed some strange things in our attic after they left (significant amounts of condensation were forming on our plenum and dripping on the attic floor). I called and left a message to speak to the service staff about it. They took down all my concerns, and never bothered calling me back. They had come highly recommended. I am very disappointed. Everyone I spoke with was kind and professional, but the end result was disappointing and my problem has still not been fixed. For this amount of money, I expect better customer service. read more

I was told a technician couldn't come for about a week due to scheduling, but after I told them why service was needed the company fit me in within a day. Additionally, the technician was courteous, professional, patient, thorough and efficient. I chose Davis based on reviews only, having never heard of the company. Davis put in the air conditioning in my newly built 2007 David Weekley home. A few weeks ago I noticed my condensation pipe was really dripping. I needed to have my pipes flushed. On May 18 I call and tell the lady I've got a block and I need my pipes flushed. She asked if it was an emergency and I said, "Not yet, but that could change at any minute!" So the lady says she can't get anyone out until May 26. "Uhhh, okay, " Isaid. Then they call on the 22nd and tell me with all the calls theyve received they have to postpone my 26th service date. WHAT?! I postponed indefinitely, and called Courtesy Air Conditioning. They came out the same day I called, thank goodness. Could have gone from something as a simple flush to a damaged ceiling. A week ago Jermaine, with Davis Air Conditioning & Heating, timely arrived to work on our AC that cools the first floor of our home. It quit working completely 4 days before his arrival. It was worth the wait! After a few trips to our attic and outside to check the equipment, he diagnosed the problem and fixed the unit. In addition to the unit not working, for 6 years it could not cool the first floor to the setting on the thermostat. This problem would occur in the afternoon and early evening every time the temperature was in the high 80's and above. At least 15 to 20 technicians tried to fix this problem over a 6 year period. I have heard one weak excuse after another. Others just threw up their hands and gave up. I couple of technicians I asked to leave my house when they told me that the unit was only designed to drop the temperature inside to 22 degrees below the outside temperature. Jermaine had an app on his phone and he showed me several readings on my unit which showed my unit was materially underperforming on every gauge shown on the app. Jermaine went into action and after a couple of hours the unit was running great. He called me late that evening to follow up on his work and see if he needed to return. He did not need to return, because for the first time in 6 years my unit is working great! We set the thermostat on 72 degrees and the first floor stays 72 degrees all day! I cannot thank Davis Air Conditioning & Heating, especially Jermaine, enough. My AC went out on Sunday night and I called to make an appt. Was able to get someone to the house on Monday afternoon. He was a nice guy yet did not have enough of the Freon with him so I had to wait another day for the 2nd repairman to come out. Apparently with an AC unit over 5 years old, the Freon that is used is very expensive. Had about 9 lbs. added and it cost over $800.00. Yes, it is expensive, though they were very honest and gave me the quote up front before I decided to add this to the AC. Today the 2nd repairman came out and was super nice. His name is Eric and he was very professional, gave great advice, and did a thorough check of the entire unit, both inside and up in the attic. I was very impressed with Eric. Overall even though it was VERY expensive, I would give them an A+ for their service. That said, I have not been in the house to see if it has indeed started to cool down. As soon as Eric left I had to leave for work. I am just praying and hoping when I get home that the house is cool and the repairs went smoothly. If the AC is working and the house is cool...I will recommend Davis Air for their service. read more

Worst service possible. I'm currently still waiting for them to come and replace the ducts that are ripped and leaking water that they decided to initially fix with DUCT TAPE! The duct replacing service has been rescheduled a couple times plus a couple no shows and two different stories about their workers getting in an "accident" and having to go to the hospital as a reason for the no show/rescheduling. They were quick to sign me up for a $200 membership but are really dropping the ball every chance they get. I call and explain the first guy put duct tape on the torn duct and now the water is still dripping all over the plywood so they send out a guy who tells me he doesn't do ducts, he's just a service tech and he doesn't know why they sent him. (After waiting days for them to get a response to some to EMAIL to some manager to find out what to do about the ripped ducts and duct tape situation). The guy who came to make a "materials list" had no clue which ducts needed to be replaced or what to make a list of. I had to go up there and point out the duct with a couple FEET of white residue from water. Today seems to be another no-show day and I'm not surprised. Also, one of the "service techs" that came out said the tears and rips happen during installation and that the installation guys at Davis AC are no good and only one of the guys does good work. He said they get snagged on something so the guys usually just pull harder causing the rip. read more

Called to see if they could fix an AC unit that they installed. I knew what the issue was and asked if there was any way they could estimate how much that would cost for them to fix. They said they could only have someone come out and charge me $95 before any prices could be estimated. I told them I understood that my diagnosis might not be correct, but wanted to understand what the price might be if it was correct. "We don't carry the prices with us, they are all on the truck" "Is there any way I could talk to a technician to get a rough price estimate" "No that is impossible without having them come out" "But if their price is way too high and I don't want them to perform the service?" In Texas, AC issues are never a pleasant problem to have... However, this company makes such a problem as pleasant as possible! The Techs are incredibly thorough and will work to find the solution as quickly as possible. If a solution is not possible due to missing parts, they will find a temporary solution/workaround until the part arrives. Chris is exceptional. Davis A/C is awesome!!! We've used Davis since we purchased our home in 2007. I'm huge on supporting family owned businesses so this decision was easy for me!!!! We've had several technicians to come out over the years and they all have been great!!!! Our unit is serviced twice a year; usually once right before summer and once right before winter. This year, before I could call to get it scheduled I was contacted by Marci. She reached out to me via email to remind me that it was time for our fall maintenance on our A/C unit and to set our fall appointment. It was the easiest process ever!! Within a day or so our technician had come and gone! Talk about great service!!! Customer service is very important to me and I must say that my overall experience with Davis A/C has been hands down one of the best experiences I've had. I am one very satisfied customer. Davis installed my air conditioning units in my newly constructed Ryland home. I reported issues with the HVAC system on 1/21/15. A service agent came out, replaced the thermostat and told me the smelly odor was condensation in the unit and would go away but is normal. I had no reason not to believe him. The entire time he was at my house he repeatedly just kept trying to sell me the maintenance contract. I asked him to check the system since it was not working and to check it was working okay. He told me I would have to buy the maintenance package in order to check the units. I said "no" and that since I am reporting there is an issue while under warranty there should not be a charge to check an existing issue under warranty. He did nothing. Here we are 13 months later and the smell is still continuing to be a problem and the unit is no longer cooling. He said the smell was harmless and I have small children. Since I now know he lied about the issue I now have to find out if the smell has been harmful to my family. I had another AC company come out this weekend and they said there is no way I should be having an issue with my AC system in a new home. They said that something was not installed correctly or is leaking. The refrigerant is out or running low but the bigger question is "Why"? Something has to be leaking in order for the refrigerant to be out which is causing the unit to not cool correctly. I filled out another warranty request and also called Davis where here we go again with trying to charge me with the service call and that I would have to pay for the labor charges for any work to be done. Why was it not looked at when I first reported issues? It seems odd that I was lied to about the smell (which I now know is due to there is water standing in the drain pan and not draining correctly and that the technician did not want to look at anything without charging me extra money while I was under warranty. I have built 3 homes and none of my units ever smelled. If the technician was telling the truth, why doesn't the other unit smell? I have since asked my neighbors if their units smell and the answer is "no". Something is wrong with the unit and something is not draining correctly. I have had 2 A/C professionals look at my system and both have said I need to go back to the builder and A/C company that installed the units and there is no way I should be having these issues with a new system. They suspect leaks for both issues and the coil being bad. They both feel the ownership is with Davis since they installed the units. Faron is ordering me a replacement coil that is covered under the manufacturers warranty but I do not know how I am going to get it or who will install it. I do not mind paying for services I need but my issue is with the dishonesty. The technician should have looked at the units when I first reported them and could have resolved this 13 months ago. He also knew I would be out of warranty soon and just fed me false information so they can rake up the fees after the fact. Total dishonesty! This is so bothersome because they did not do the right thing in the first place. I am now concerned if more damage has been done to the units. Of course they can come look into my previously reported issues for a trip charge and excess charges, etc. They could have fixed this 13 months ago under warranty but were more interested in ripping me off. I recommend using any other company because if this is their ethics with how they treat customers, you are better off using anyone else. read more

I called on Wednesday for a downstairs AC unit not working. I called this company because they installed our unit when the house was built 3 years ago. I have already had some experience (read, bad experience) with the worksmanship of this company. (When we first moved in, several rooms were not cooled appropriately, called their company and after an inspection of the attic, I was told that who ever installed the ducts in the attic did not appropriate tighten it so the ducts came loose and we were cooling the attic. Well, what company installed our AC units? hmmm. Pretty shoddy work considering we only moved in several days earlier.) Back to the present, called on Wednesday, they came on Thursday, charge $89 for service call and we were told that the line was frozen, and nothing they can do to check it right now. This is fine, and understandable. The tech (J Sanchez) told my wife they will come out the next day (Friday) to recheck the unit once it defrosted. Charged the credit card for essentially a 5 minute look-see. My wife called the next day (friday) and was told, " we have you scheduled for next Tuesday" They talked and was told that we can reschedule to today (friday) from 2-6. My wife calls in the afternoon ~ 5 pm and was told they talked to her husband and rescheduled for Monday. (flat out lie because they don't even have my number nor did they call me) Now, we're stuck over this weekend with a hot house, 90+ degree weather and a bill for $90, and a promise from a company that already failed to appear. We just moved into our home and it is a new construction. We called about a bathroom fan not working. The tech, Chris Rollins, was incredible. He spent a lot of time with us explaining the systems and how we should treat it. I had questions about the air conditioning and he was willing to answer anything we asked. I highly recommend Davis! Davis installed the AC unit when my house was being built. I have called them before to make a few adjustments and they have always been reliable. I called because my unit was no longer cooling. I called when they opened and was told that the earliest appointment was the following day. Oh, well. I took it. Within 15 minutes, I received a call back that a technician could actually come out the same day and by 9:00 a.m. He showed up at 8:45 and was actually done with the repairs by 9:10 a.m. Thank you! read more

I thought these guys were better as I have used them several times before but this time will be my last. The condenser stopped working after less than 3 yrs in service. Davis installed it new so I called them thinking they would stand behind it and do whatever it takes. It is mid-july and freaking hot. They said we would be their first call in the morning, 8-10 am window and they pushed that window to 9:45. After 30 minutes of testing they said the the compressor was on the blink and to replace it would be $1400. This was the second repair call on the outdoor unit so I asked what would be the cost to completely replace it - think lemon - and the price was almost $4k. That would be $1250/yr, over a C-note a month, for the pleasure of owning this system. So I asked how long would it take to get it repaired or replaced and though the repair guy couldn't tell me if the parts were in stock he said the office would call to let me know. iIt could be next day or next week but certainly not the same day-- don't even ask. After 3 hours passed and I called them to see what the problem was and the operator said they were waiting on me to approve the service before the looked into how long it would take. The company, Davis AC, installed the brand new AC unit in my new DavidWeekly home in 2007. Since then, the AC performance had been dropping rapidly every year. Finally, Davis AC had to replace the AC coil in 2011. I thought it was because of my bad luck, but many Davis installed ACs in my neighborhood experienced similar problems in a matter of three or four years. This indicates that Davis AC had installed bad AC units with bad workmanship. Since Davis AC replaced the AC coil in 2011, the AC performance has been dropping rapidly every year once again. Now, the AC coil broke again and has to be replaced. My experience evidences Davis AC's bad workmanship and service. DO NOT USE DAVIS AC. read more
