Humiliating. Dr. Min Kim is the only doctor i have ever met that has shown me attitude. In my approx 20 years dealing with optometrists, this was my worst. After seeing me for only 10 minutes, I requested that she give me dilation drops. Her response was similar to the following: I'm done for the day... I would have to wait 30 minutes if i did that... but im done for the day? CHANGE YOUR AVAILABILITY THEN! IF YOU WANT TO GO HOME EARLY DON'T BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH ME TOWARDS THE END OF YOUR DAY AND WASTE MY TIME COMPLAINING. I understand you want to go home after a long day at work. Everyone does. Change your availability to avoid such issues. After POLITELY expressing my confusion with her behavior, she gave me the drops. However, the attitude I received from her for the next 30 minutes was upsetting. I refrained from retaliating as i know it would not help the situation. I am writing to complain about deceptive business practices at Davis Vision (251-69 Horace Harding Expressway Little Neck, NY 11362 (718) 225-0362). I am an employee of a local business and I pay for the Davis Vision eye insurance plan. I went for an eye exam in September 2013. At the time, I was told that would receive a contact fitting for $35 and then be given a 3 month supply of contacts based on my insurance allowance. To be honest, I did not read any fine print and simply trusted the words that I was told at a doctor's office. When I went to pick up my contacts, I was given a 90-lens box of contacts. This box indeed had a 3 month supply - but only for a single eye. Apparently, my insurance covered $105 in contact lens costs and the store picked such an expensive contact lens that the $105 only went far enough to cover 3 months for a single eye. I had to pay for the other box out of pocket. I find these practices to be extremely deceptive. I was told I was being "fit" for contacts but never was showed a list of lenses along with their accompanying prices. The store should offer customers a list for comparison and let them decide if they want an expensive contact and a shorter supply or a cheaper one and a longer supply. I feel deceived that I was told I would be receiving a 3 month supply of contacts when I was only given 3 months for one eye. Based on this experience, I am reluctant to re-visit this establishment and will encourage my coworkers to avoid them as well. Of note, the staff in the store were all very professional and polite. In September 2020, I ordered a pair of eyeglasses from Davis Visionworks in Little Neck, NY. For decades I have ordered a new pair of eyeglasses there every year. My requirements have always been the same, that of Progressive bifocals and Transition (photochromatic) lenses, which are self-darkening in sunlight. Over the next few months it became obvious that these were not Transition lenses. I made an appointment and returned to the store with the glasses in January. A woman on the staff asked me what the problem was. I explained it, and said that I wanted to see the work order, please. To which she immediately became agitated and replied "Oh, dont SAY that! I'll go get Adam!" I thought her reply was oddly inappropriate, but I did not ask her name. Ten minutes later Mr. D, who is an optician there, came over to me. We remembered each other, and he also remembered and confirmed that he wrote the order for the glasses. He stepped outside to hold the glasses in sunlight and verified that they were not Transition lenses. He then went to the back of the store and discussed this with his colleagues. Mr. D was very polite and courteous to me, as he always is. Next, another employee came over to talk with me. He noted that one lens was scratched and I said that that was not the issue. He told me they would be giving me new lenses in a new frame. I mentioned that I didn't need or want a new frame, only the correct lenses. Before I could say anything else he told me he was going to talk without my replying to him. During his lecture he mentioned that Transition lenses would cost me more than $50 per lens to make. He then stood over me and proceeded to attempt to intimidate me condescendingly, saying I could reply to him only when he was through. At one point he asked me a question, and I answered it, assuming he was through with his long harangue. He immediately snapped "I'm not through yet" and again repeated what he intended to do. I remained silent. Eventually I asked to see the original work order. He then went to the back of the store and returned with a computer-generated printout. It became obvious that it was not the original work order. I reviewed it and said that there was nothing on that page that mentioned anything about Progressive or Transition lenses. He said angrily "I'm not going to discuss this any further." I replied that we could continue the discussion when the glasses were ready to be picked up. He then said "NO! I will be mailing these back to you." He then began ranting loudly at me You're condescending! You're a jerk! Throughout this entire encounter I remained calm and said as little as possible, never raising my voice. There were other customers in the store and I only told him that his calling me names would not help the situation any. That infuriated him. He stormed off to the back of the store and then sat at his desk. I walked over and requested a business card, and asked for his name. He replied "I don't have to tell you my name." He then exploded, yelling at me, "Go home! Leave the store! You're a jerk! You're a LIAR!!" This entire scene enfolded in view of other customers in the store. Before leaving, I said only this: "If I am a liar, why did you agree to remake the glasses? That's something for everyone here to think about." I have never encountered anything like the verbal abuse I endured from this guy. Considering his volatile demeanor and his abusive bullying of me, on display before other customers, he deserves to be fired. The irony here is that my insurance would have covered the higher expense of Transition lenses IN FULL, as they always have. Now they are in denial and attempting to shift the blame to me. On 1/21/2021 I received an email notification from Visionworks saying my order is ready for pickup: GOOD NEWS! Those GREAT new glasses we picked out are ready! followed by their store address. Since Mr. Abusive said he would be sending them to me, I waited a week. Since they didnt arrive it was apparent that Mr. Abusive was the liar that he accused me of being. I then returned there for the glasses. I was greeted loudly with: Do you have an appointment? With a copy of their notice in hand I replied that I received their notice. Another employee angrily asked me: Whats your name? I stated my name, which he referenced by computer and said: You don't have an appointment. I said: here is your notice. They refused to look at it. They eventually realized that I was there to pick up the glasses. After my standing and waiting for ten minutes Mr. Abusive appeared and handed me the glasses. I tried them on and told him they are much too loose. He said: "You'll have to make an appointment for that." I said nothing in reply, picked up the glasses and left the store. Apparently they replaced the scratched lens with another clear lens. Now I am left with a pair of glasses that I cannot wear outdoors in sunlight, as they are not photochromatic and the replacement frame does not fit me. read more

I am disgusted with their terrible customer service, lack of organization an treating everyone poorly. The management sets the time and that is why the services is awful. They can never gong anything. They blame the customer for leaving their glasses there aftet they have lost them. Adam is a nice person but not a good manager. There is a woman who works thete who never knows what is happening. She is poorly trained. there are always people waiting for a long time and no structure. The staff is not trained to be open and helpful. Jay basically shpuld not be helping anyone he is in the wrong business. They lost my expensive glasses. No system, no organization, there was a guy in the front who skipped many people who were waiting in line before us. This place is a mess and no one seems to care. Customer service and satisfaction is unheard of. Not sure how they are in business. Very bad experience. I told them to shred my paper work when I left and they never removed authorization on my insurance, bunch of non sense and unwilling to help type of people work in this place. Went here for a new eyeglass and prescription. The office was clean and looked nice. Staff was pleasant apart from an older woman who appeared to be a receptionist of some sort. She just looked miserable and can't seem to acknowledge other customers in the room. My optometrist was fairly pleasant, although I don't know her name since she didn't formally introduce herself. I'm still going elsewhere for my next prescription, but this place is OK. Update: 1 week later. Went back to pick up glasses and sat there for about 2 hours with no acknowledgement. Told the receptionist guy what I was there for and he rudely dismissed me to "take a seat and someone will be with me later." While waiting more than 10 people walked in and got their glasses. I can probe into my conflict theory(ies) and surmise why they treated me as they did. But I digress, because I'm not in the mood to rant here. Bottom line is, I am never going back here. read more

This place has been suprisingly busy both times I've stepped in. Everyone is cordial but it seemed like they had a different person helping me each time (optometrist, person who explained the contact lenses to me, person who rang me up at the cashier, person who checked my contact lens fit after I came back in a week, and person who finally gave me the prescription). Accepts many insurances. Seemed to take a while to get everything done. Did the job but I wouldn't say it was the most spectacular experience. read more

Convenient location with lots of parking. The best part about this place though, is what I think matters the most, Dr. Min Kim. She's extremely courteous and professional. With my prescription, I need special attentions and that's exactly what I received with her. I need special types of contact lens since standard soft lens are not suitable for me. She was very thorough from beginning to end in making sure that the prescription was correct and the fitting was done properly. She even set up follow up appointments for me to make sure that it's a proper fit. Dr. Min Kim has been a life saver for someone like me. read more

My next pair of glasses, I am definitely getting at Davis Vision in Little Neck! I bought a pair of glasses from an affiliate store in Chicago where I was visiting family. That pair broke with in a week when I returned back home. What a frustrating experience to get glasses fixed that broke in a week from an out of town store! Staff at Davis Vision were very helpful. They called the Chicago store on my behalf and then the Chicago store said they would take care of it. When I called the Chicago store myself I got a rude sales person who was not helpful at all. I should have checked the reviews before coming here. I purchased glasses here in July 2021. When i picked up my glasses I had the guy adjust them because they felt loose. I told him it still felt slack even after he tightened them but he said it should be good. After several months i noticed they kept getting looser to the point where I could not wear them anymore. I finally went in the store 2 weeks ago and the guy tightened them and it seemed fine for a week. Now they are loose again. I called the store today and the person i spoke to told me since it's been past a 100 days they can't do anything for me and the only thing they can do is tighten it again. Now i have to find another place and these glasses are progressive lens so i am really upset that i have to get glasses again so soon. When i went to Cohens I never had any issues. The fact that they can't accommodate me in any way is horrible.... read more

Not impressed. Came in for my appointment 10 mins late due to rain and parking issues, was greeted by an annoyed front desk receptionist who abruptly gave me paperwork to fill out and informed me that she will ask the doctor if she would still see me. Appointment was rushed. Waited around for a while after picking out my glasses before being helped. No one asked me if they could assist me with anything. Made another appointment for a contacts lens prescription, and was left a voicemail on my phone reminding me about the appointment that was half background conversation between the staff and half incoherent mumbling about my insurance coverage, which I only understood because I'm a physician myself. These guys were AWESOME!! I walked in there with a broken pair of glasses that my previous seller told me would have to be replaced for a price of $190. I went to visionworks to get the same frame for cheaper than that price. Tosha took my glasses, and within 4 minutes repaired them GOOD AS NEW!! And DID NOT CHARGE ME! I went from wanting to pinch my pennies to buying an extra pair from these guys because of Toshas flawless, kind, professional, and engaging customer service. I have no idea why this place does not have an average of 4 star ratings or above, they were So kind and generous. They could have easily made money off of me, but they offered me service for free. I make an appointment for eye glasses and when I got there, the staff told me my appointment was cancelled by me few days ago. I never cancelled my appointment and doesn't know what is she talking about. She was able to put me in back to my original appointment. This is the three time I been to the store and purchase glasses during the last couple of years. Each time I went there is always has a problem. The first time is they told me pick up my glasses in two weeks, when I got there after two weeks to pick up my glasses. They told me my glasses isn't ready and I have to wait two more weeks. After I placed a called and complaining to their headquarters staff, I was able to pick up my glasses within 2 hours. The second times is I waited two week to pick up my glasses and when I got there. They give me the glasses that I choice without putting the prescription lenses in it. So, I have to go back another day. I had try this store for three differ times and the store failed me and disappointed me each times. From now on, I will ensure my family and I will gave my business to other optical store!!! The 5 start review is for the optician - Frank only not for the store. My daughter be has always had the same insurance and vision plan for years each year we come here they tell us her plan only cover $69 or less frames, even today! When Frank saw my daughter picked the $69 frame he paged through the plan price allowance again and found out her frame allowance is actually $99! What a difference it made so she had more selections because all frames were like over priced there even some no brand frames are like $120& up. Frank was professional when measuring her pupil distance and he gave really good customer service. If we didn't meet him today we be picking the $69 selections like every other year. read more

I used to buy my glasses at the eye doctor's but since we got Davis I've been shopping here. Awesome selection and I've never had an issue getting my glasses on time. There's a lot of parking available as well. I've never had an eye exam here (I usually go to my own optometrist for my prescription) but I've spent my time browsing their glasses section. I'm picky with my glasses and I've never felt that there was a lack of variety and options. read more

I came in today about a half hour before closing, hoping to find a pair of glasses. Since there was a sale, I figured it would not an issue finding a couple pairs of nice frames. When I first walked in, I saw a small crowd of people with employees. I looked around for a specific section where the sale glasses would be. One of the employees helped me locate the sale section. While I was there, I felt an uneasy presence, like I was being rushed. The employee did inform me that they were closing at 4pm (I respect people's time, so I understood). As I was continuing to look, another employee (possibly a manager) said "Oh! Does that lady know we're closing?" The employee responded, "Yeah, she's here for sale. I showed her where the section was and I told her we were closing in 15 mins (with an attitude)". At that moment, I felt very uneasy and rushed. I spent a couple more minutes in the store and I left. The customer service was not friendly. I do understand employees want to enjoy the rest of their day, but you always have to keep a smile on your face and in your voice until closing. I booked an appointment using their online system for Tuesday May 8th and went online the day prior to the appointment to reschedule for Friday, May 11th. I showed up on Friday and was told by Sherrie at the front desk that she did not have an appointment for me on her system for Friday; just the Tuesday one. Even after showing her the email confirmation of the change, she was not helpful and only talked with the doctor about seeing me after I kept insisting. No apologies, no updates on what was going on, nothing. Just a bad attitude like it was my fault. They kept me waiting while they saw other customers who had appointments even though I had a confirmed appointment too. The doctor, Min Kim was thorough with the exam but commented on how they were helping me out even though I did not have an appointment. Really ? It's not my fault your system has glitches It took me an hour and a half to get out of there. The service was horrible and staff were unprofessional. From the front end staff to the doctor. Sherrie did not have her name tag on and when I asked her for her name, she looked away for a few seconds, rolled her eyes and then gave me her name. She was supposed to call me when my lenses came in and of course never did. I had to call to find out. No point having an online system if your staff can't handle the glitches associated with it. I understand things happen but don't treat your customers like crap. Sherrie's customer service skills could use a lot of development. Your customers are the reason you have a job. Show them some respect. read more

Worst customer service. While customers are waiting for hours to pickup glasses, several staff are standing around talking about where they are going for sushi. It was not like they were leaving. They were just standing around taking while customers are waiting to be tend to. When asked if I can make an appointment and come back to pickup my glasses because, they do not make appointments for pickup. That would have been ok, if they had a better process of serving the customer to get them in/out. It's disgusting when there's such disrespect for other peoples time. And would have been bearable if there weren't so many staff just standing around. If I hadn't already paid for my glasses I would never go back. I had an eye exam by Dr. Min Kim she was very thorough and professional. Ray Diaz assisted me in getting the glasses that I wanted without trying to sell me something that I didn't want. His experience and knowledge of glasses is a great asset to the company. When my glasses were ready and I picked them up Jean did a fantastic job to make sure they fit properly. I came here twice today for two pairs of glasses, one for myself and one for my son Albert. The visits were both very pleasant. The place has casual and friendly atmosphere, yet the work is done very efficiently. In less than an hour,we had our eyes checked and frame picked. Danny was nice and helpful. Dr. Kim really knows her stuff and gives us the best treatments and recommendations. She is very kind and professional, too. Frank is the guy who did our measurements and handled insurance issues. You get better service at the DMV than you do here. There are only 4 chairs for waiting, yet always 10-15 people with appointments for vision testing, eye glass fittings or service. Not including walk ins. Even with an appointment, you're going to be waiting hours. I'm stuck using them because it's my employer's new optical insurance provider and out of network reimburses pennies on the dollar. I'm getting a health saving account and paying out of pocket with my old eye doctor. You get what you pay for! read more
