I had a good experience with an eye exam and new glasses at this location. Adam helped adjust the new pair to a comfortable fit by simulating a closer contour to my over-used very old frames. Danny was very pleasant and a breath of fresh air. I would certainly recommend this location. FYI: They are in setting with ample parking but leave some extra time since they tend to get very busy and backed up. It is still worth the wait. read more

I have been to Davis Visionworks a few times. The staff is knowledgeable and even though they're consistently busy they do a good job managing their time so that the waiting time is limited. I had recently my annual check at this branch of DavisVisionworks. I asked for an appointment for a glasses exam. However I was also charged $50 for a 'contact fitting', which never happened. When I asked the manager about this, he said that this was because I was wearing contacts when I arrived, hence the charge, although there never was a fitting, and I never asked for a contact exam. I was being charged for something I did not ask for, with the only explanation that "these are doctors rules". Very inappropriate. read more

Bunch of crooks! I have a prescription for contacts that will expire next week. Today when I tried to place an order thru a 3rd party site, it was cancelled because these greedy crooks said it was too close to the expiration date. To me, there's no such thing. The date is in black and white! They were more than happy to point out that I can come in and place an order for a 1 month supply w/o needing a new exam. The whole point of my ordering thru a 3rd party site is because it's cheaper than the outrageous prices you charge! The fact that you won't honor a date shows me the crooks that you are. You want me to come back in and pay for an exam or order contacts? Guess what? Your plan just backfired. I will go anywhere BUT here ever again and I will make sure that the BBB and NYS Attorney General knows about your deceitful practices. read more

The service here is terrible. The Manager Adam is careless and unprofessional. They couldn't figure out my insurance and I had to return 3 times. They are a total waste of time. Also I asked Adam to tighten a pair of my designer frames. He tighten the screws so much that he cracked the frame. Then he tried to make it seem as if they were already broken instead of admitting what happened and apologizing. He would not take responsibility. He even went to the extent of saying let me just return your money for the order of the glasses I had purchased instead of trying to work it out. There was one person at this location who was very helpful. His name was Adam. The people at the front desk are completing lacking in customer service skills. First they told us they would be right with us, then we had to wait for about 90 minutes. We saw people come in and be taken ahead of us, consistently. When I asked the woman at the front desk, she said: "Oh, they have drops in their eyes" - even though some of them just entered the store. Later when I saw other people being taken before us, she said "Oh, they have appointments". Even though we were not told that we had to make an appointment when we arrived (once again, by the woman at the front desk). We were asked to pay for the eye exam before it even took place because no one at the front desk seemed to know what they were doing. There was another fairly young man at the front desk who just stood there and didn't say anything to anyone. Even if he was new or just training, he could have made an effort to try to help. There was no organization, whatsoever. Perhaps, people should sign in, or be given a number, in the interest of fairness. We will not return to this location. We will find another place for eye exams and glasses in the future. read more

I made my appointment here 3 weeks ago, online. I received a good recommendation from a co-worker and was almost excited to go. I called to make sure they took my insurance and was told they did. I received a confirmation email, and a reminder email yesterday. I went to the office this morning ( which is a 1/2 hour away from my house), go to the front desk to check in. The guy already seems confused that, although I brought my children, they do not have appointments. I give him my name, tell him my insurance and after a few minutes of confusion and asking for my social, tells me they "never, ever, ever" took Aetna insurance. I proceeded to explain that I called ahead of time to make sure and was told they did. No apology for the inconvenience, after that heads were down. Terrible customer service. read more

Davis Vision in Little Neck has the worst customer service. I was low on contacts and decided to refill here. Not only did I have to wait 1 hour to see the "contacts specialist," apparently the only person in the outfit equipped to push my prescription through the computer, but I was told only 2-3 days before they would be ready. I agreed as I needed more fast. 2-3 days past, no phone call. I call them and am told their policy is 7-10 days. Clearly, their contacts specialist is not so specialized. Davis refused to provided any type of discount even though they were incorrect. Had I know there would have been a longer wait, I would have gone elsewhere for a rush. Note to self and to you: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME AT DAVIS. read more

One of the worst places i have ever been for eye glasses . My original optical place was Village Optical in Lake Success. They were very professional ,never had to wait more then ten minutes for service . Never had one problem with the frames .Went to Davis because they had a bigger selection .Big mistake! Been going there for last three years ,had to bring back my glasses each year for repairs. This last pair i have brought back three times for the same thing .I went in the place at 5:55 pm . Told the person at at the desk my problem ,She wrote my name down and told me i would be called .Well after 35 minutes ,and two people who were served after i walked in i went to the counter and told her i was waiting 35 minutes and the other people that came in after me were already taking care of .She looked for my name could not find it . Asked for my name again and said i would have to wait again All i needed was a screw replaced .I walked out .I will never go back to any Davis again .Go back to the smaller personal eyeglass places , and get better service . read more

Davis vision insurance is a scam. When reading my benefit description it says," Davis Vision's Contact Lens Collection will be covered in full per the number indicated below, and your evaluation, fitting and follow up care will also be covered. Disposable......... eight boxes/ multi-packs." It also go to say that if you choose contacts ourside the plan they will pay $150. I called the company twice to confirm that my contacts if chosen from the list would be covered. When I went to pick up my contacts they only gave me 8 30 day boxes instead of 8 90 day boxes. At first I thought there was a simple ordering error, but upon further research it turns out that is all davis vision will cover. 4 months. When I asked what I was supposed to do for the rest of the year the lady at the insurance company told me that contacts are not medically necessary and I should just wear my glasses (which I don't have because the insurance benefits cover contacts or glasses. When I asked why they did not specify on the benefits description that they sent our to the insurance holder. The woman told me it was so they could change the plan at their discretion. I could have ordered the generic brand of this same product for a total of $90 through walmart.com, but because I went with the brand listed on the contact collection I get to pay $330 dollars to cover the rest of the year. I will never sign up for Davis Vision again. It is a true scam. They even admitted to me on the phone the mistakes they had made when I called to verify coverage, but were not willing to do anything about it. The worse part about the whole thing is hundreds of others will be sucked into this same program unless they change the wording of the misleading literature they send out. read more

My husband and I had the best experience. Starting from calling to make an appointment to pick up the eye glasses, everyone was really nice. Whats funny is that this place is out of our way, and there is a Davis Visionworks (Kew Gardens) 5min walk from our apartment. When we called they were really rude and it left a bad taste in our month sort of like bad Spam. So finding this one on Horce Harding was great. I started coming to this location two years ago and my most recent visit was just yesterday. From the minute you walk in the door you receive a nice greeting from all staff and are immediately taken care of and assisted. The front staff who checks you in for your appointment are very friendly and pleasant. Doctor Kim on whom I had my eye appointment with was very thorough and even though I haven't seen her in two years and considering the amount of patients she has she remembered me. Which made me feel like a person and not just like a number. Adam the manager of the store who helped me pick out my frames and finalized everything was also very personable and helpful in getting me the best deal for my glasses. He saved me a couple of hundreds of dollars. Ummm who doesn't like to save money?! Last but not least they have a good selection of frames that would fit a wide variety of tastes. I took my three young kids to this store the day before Thanksgiving. My son had lost his glasses and we needed to find a new pair to replace them. From beginning to end, we waited for 1.5 hours to find out how much a pair of new glasses would be. The front person told me I had to fill out patient information forms, have it entered into their computer system, before I can ask the optician what the price would be. When the optician, older man with dark glasses and pony tail came to me and told me it would cost $100 for the lens plus the cost of the frames, I was shocked of the price of the lens (regular lens for distance, nothing special) and repeated what he said. With that, he mocked me by repeating what I said in a mocking tone of voice and obnoxious body language. I was upset and voiced my anger that I had to go through the 1.5 hours to find out a price and he shouted out in front of everyone, ' You have a nice Thanksgiving'. I would not recommend anyone to come to this store. The man working up front was very busy, but the three opticians were just sitting behind him doing nothing. To improve customer service and workflow, the people in this store should have a teamwork mentality, instead of having the 'It's not my job' mentality. I returned to my regular optometrist and ordered glasses from him without a problem. The front end people at his place were able to process my order and tell me the price without delay. read more

Experience was okay. The optometrist was quick and efficient. They clearly do high volume business, being in a strip mall. The cashiers are friendly and helpful. Prices are a little high -- I only found about 6 pairs of frames that were within my insurance limit. Many are several hundred dollars. The big negative was the optician when I returned for my fitting (male, Asian, named Jay, I think). I told him that the nose pads were uneven and you could see that the glasses rested crookedly on my face. For whatever reason, he got really mad and behaved quite rudely (rolling his eyes, loudly sighing, muttering). It was weird -- after a couple of minutes, I just took the glasses and left. In the future, I'll try Warby Parker. Although they are always crowded, most of their frames are a lot cheaper and they give a portion of their profits to charity. Also, they're friendly. If I go back to Davis, I'll request a different optician, that guy was pretty uncool. read more
