The place started out great, the doctors seemed very attentive and kind. I'm not going to get into…read moredetails but after a month or so, it quickly became obvious that they (it appears to be a partnership between 3 doctors) really are in it for the "turn over", meaning all they cared about was taking in as many patients as possible and getting paid by our government. My father had an infection where they insert the needles. Instead of treating the infection or opening a new vein, they just kept putting needles into a dirty infected fistula. His pain and discomfort went through the roof and we only found out weeks later when he practically refused to go back to get his dialysis. There was also another health incident that I won't discuss out of respect for my father but any health practitioner, even a LVN would have noticed it and recommended treatment at a hospital or outpatient surgery center. My best recommendation to you is to find a dialysis center associated with a hospital that you respect and have visited. For those curious about the business side of dialysis, it's the only chronic treatment covered by Medicare, which every doctor accepts because Medicare pays top dollar. To quote an article in NY Times "MEDICARE pays about $60,000 a year to treat each dialysis patient, according to Dr. Adler...This is an industry that the for-profits dominate"* *https://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/25/nyregion/dialysis-where-medicaid-steps-in.html

She told me to come out and then back after they do a second poke! And I need to wait outside until my father is ready for all his future dialysis! WTF?! I'm not suppose to know how you treat him when he is alone ?! And when someone is not able to figure the issue and he suppose to suffer it and not saying anything?!

To preface: I cannot speak for the clinic dialysis. We have *only* gone in to meet with Michael,…read morethe Peritoneal Dialysis nurse - who has been a literal ANGEL. My husband was assigned here to set up for, then "train" for PD. From day one, Michael set us up for success! We learned all the steps and techniques for what we needed to do and we left with a full understanding of what was happening. My husband went into surgery and came out with a PD and a fistula in place. We did have a little "hiccup" four days post-surgery, where the PD site was bleeding. We called the after hours line and they advised us to go in to the center. I was a little freaked out, but not only did Michael skillfully manage the issue (which turned out to be a clot in the line), he expertly cleaned and rebandaged the area, AND ensured us that this was normal and it can happen - which worked wonders on my mental health. In that moment, yes - we needed the clot cleared. But we also needed assurance that my husband would be okay, that there is a procedure for this kind of stuff, and that we weren't alone. Having a team with members as badass as Michael is crucial. We are very thankful to him for really really shapeshifting a not-so-fabulous life event into the best possible version of what it is. We appreciate you, Michael!
