I absolutely LOVE this place! As someone who is lactose intolerant, their menu items are a dream! Super creative flavors like Mango Sticky Rice, Tahini, and Ube Creme Brulee are just some of the delights they serve. There are many different flavors to try, on a rotation weekly. They also make milkshakes and coffee drinks! Everyone that works there is always so friendly. You really can't go wrong!

Glad I finally checked them out. It's difficult to find tasty dairy-free gelato. Theirs is rich and delicious. I appreciate being able to sample the various flavors. The brownie batter one tastes EXACTLY like its moniker. Service was attentive and courteous.

This cute gelato shop randomly came across my Instagram feed, within 30 minutes of seeing the post and stalking their Instagram page I was placing my order. This is the cutest little shop, there's limited room inside but plenty of outdoor seating. The staff were all incredibly friendly, amazing customer service. There's a wide variety of flavors and specials offered on the weekend. I went with the brownie batter and topped it with their whipped cream. Whatever you get make sure to add whipped cream! The gelato was perfection. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors and try their ube latte. Actually, there are so many things on their menu I'm looking forward to trying. I will definitely be a frequent flyer at this amazing pro-Palestinian gelato shop! #FreePalestine

Vegan gelato! Vegan freshly made whipped cream. Exciting flavors that rotate. They do allow samples so you don't have to risk it on one of the more interesting flavors without knowing if you'll like it. I got creamed corn gelato with salted caramel sauce (also vegan) and it was incredible. So I do suggest being adventurous. Cute spot with great service. There's additional parking in the back (go right at the light) It's in a cute area of Lakeside, walkable to the Farmers Market

    Vanilla gelato with whipped cream

This is my new favorite place in the area! The PB cookie dough flavor is amazing, the vanilla has a lot of flavor, and the whipped cream topping is really good. I have taken to checking the menu on a weekly basis and have gone 4 times this month as a result, lol. No seating inside so I'd go when it's warm enough to sit outside, or plan to eat in your car.

Attention-- the address currently list on Yelp is incorrect. They opened a brick and mortar in Lakeside located at : 6931 Lakeside Ave Pro Tip: Follow their instagram for the latest on flavors, and any changes in their hours. If you have a nut allergy, proceed with caution. This place is so so so charming. An old barber shop turned vegan gelato shop, who would have thought!! The staff are kind and always looking to help you find the perfect flavor combo. All the flavors are unique and small-batch. Delicious, and consistently solid flavors you likely won't see anywhere else. This location has limited parking in the front, but also has a back lot so look out for that. They also only currently have outdoor seating, so keep that in mind during the colder/rainer days. Much love for this local business.

    Mango sticky rice sundae

Tried for the first time. Cute location in lakeside with lots of outdoor seating options. Quirky and fun decor/vibes. Nearby other local shops and eateries. Small selection of flavors compared to other shops but what they have are handmade batches and good flavor options. The prices are really high compared to competitors and for what you get. The flavors were really good. The gelato itself is good but not the best I've had. There's something about the texture it's more dense and not as creamy. I got the weekly sundae mango sticky rice because it sounded so good. It was good but not worth the very steep $14 price tag and always disappointing to see the ad and it not look like what you get. Ad looks like a scoop of mango. Mine only had three small cubes and cup wasn't filled all the way. A small single scoop was almost $6. It came out smaller than what was advertised. I appreciated the creativity of the flavors and thought out into flavor profile. My kid was disappointed to not see familiar flavors but it was good for them to branch out and enjoyed what they got. I sampled the ube brûlée and that was good.

Such a unique and special dessert for our wedding. Davvero's flavors are delicious and because their gelato is dairy free, more of our guests could enjoy it (without dairy-lovers even knowing it was vegan)! The employees who scooped at our wedding were efficient and accomodating. This is a great option if you're looking to have a fun and unique dessert other than cake at your wedding. This may not look like much but a gently toasted brioche bun filled with chocolate hazelnut gelato really can't be topped on a warm August day. Be prepared to eat fast!

The best vegan gelato in town! The flavors are different every week and I have yet to find a flavor that I do not love. The service is great and both Lane and Steph are amazing and remember who I am when I go in which makes it feel even more welcoming. The old school barber shop turned vegan gelato shop creates the perfect ambiance of old and new. My only wish is that the space was bigger so we could have more space for customers inside and possibly have a table or two for indoor dining, but their outdoor patio is the best when the weather is nice!

Absolutely hit the spot! Pistachio frapgato was beyond perfect on this humid evening. Going back next week for the lime sorbetto and hibiscus granita special!!!

Dark Chocolate with Earl Grey Tea

Pearl and Julia waited on my family who ordered the dark chocolate with earl grey team and the Cortado. They offered excellent service with a small and answered any questions that we may have asked of the two! One could definitely taste the earl grey tea that was present in the chocolate

So, this is a preliminary review based on my experience at today's inaugural food truck rally here…read morein the Hampton Roads. For this, I'll be departing from my normal style of writing to write an educated and informal post in hopes that the truckers will read this and make amends for the next gathering. Before the actual review, I'd like to thank WHRO for graciously hosting the event. Onto the business end of the stick... I showed up at 1:40PM, an hour and forty minutes after the event started. When I got there I went in what appeared to be the shortest line, which was for Norfolk Ramen (NR). In line I asked the person in front of me how long they had been waiting and they said for 15 minutes so far and that there was a second line to wait in to get your food. Still I waited, and waited, and waited. 25 minutes later I heard that NR ran out of the item I was interested in. No bueno mi compadre. I decided to go for another line; this time it was Stuft. A friend of mine who had already gotten food from them said the wait was only around 35 min and the tacos were pretty decent. 25 minutes into this wait Stuft called the line off and said they had ran out of food. ¡Que verracos pasa! At this point I was pissed, so I left. I not only worked in the gourmet food truck circles, but have also visited the various circles across the country. My experience was horrible and I know that I am not alone because the two girls that were behind me also left the NR line to go to the line for Stuft. This is unacceptable. What it is reflective of is very poor preparation. Did anyone think to call the plethora of great trucks from the food truck rallies/farmers markets from around the country for expertise? Not only have they been doing this for a while, handle greater volume, have more expansive menus, and do it all with wait times in the range of 5 to 10 minutes. I already know the answer to the question is no. There are a lot of people kissing your collective arses at the moment, because the majority of them do not know any better which is a shame in itself. Excuses like you didn't know people were going to show, it's hard working in those trucks, etc. You saw the RSVPs on FB, you new of the collective noise in the HR area via the various media/online outlets, and it's cramped but there benefits to working in the truck as well. So, I guess I will be the critic in the crowd and call for results. If you want to successfully join the culinary movement sweeping across the States, then simply do better. Have enough food for the crowds, have enough staff to assist, and do the prep work necessary to punch down wait times. Why this isn't a one star review is because of the location (good), the idea (also good), and from what I saw of the food (it looked good). Suggestions for the venue organizers... Maybe have an on-site portable ATM and invite a craft beer truck. I'll update this review after attending the next rally.

Love Simon's A La Cart! First of all, there are two carts of note. One serves hot wraps (red and…read moreblack umbrellas) and another serves cold wraps (tan umbrellas). They are located at the corner of 10th and Cary, outside the Wells Fargo building. Today, I decided to try the cold wrap stand. Normally, there is a good number of people in line, but luckily no one was there today around 12:30! Typically, the stands are there from around 11:30am to 1:30pm, weather permitting. Anyway, I ordered the turkey and tabbouli wrap. You get your choice of wrap flavor - Wheat, tomato, garlic, etc. All wraps cost $7 and come with a bag of chips. The wrap ingredients paired well together and had a nice even taste throughout. This particular wrap came with turkey, tabbouli, onion, lettuce, and banana peppers. I got it without the raw purple onions - I intended on having conversations with people in person soon after eating. You also have a choice of adding ranch or a vinaigrette. I got the ranch, and it was pretty watery once I sat down to eat the wrap. I'm also not sure if it added much flavor, so I may forego it next time. I have also heard the lettuce can get old sometimes, so just be aware. On the other hand, the tabbouli had a nice parsley flavor, and the banana peppers added some crunch and tang. The cold wrap cart's menu has about 8-10 options, the majority of which are vegetarian! So awesome. The people working here are super nice, so I bet they would be willing to make some substitutions or additions at an additional charge to make something like a veggie hummus wrap more filling. I liked that they had two people making wraps at one time, so you won't feel like you are waiting too long. The hot wrap cart's menu is about the same in length but offers more meat options like chicken souvlaki, steak, and pork. I think the piece de resistance of Simon's is the limeade. It is pre-poured into what I think is a 16 oz. cup and has fresh limes and the right amount of carbonation. It is sweet, refreshing, and pairs wonderfully with a freshly-made wrap. Today, there was also an orange limeade option which looked good, so if they offer it again, I may get that next time. Bottom line: Check these carts out! And get the limeade!
