It did not turn out well, so I decided to get it done here by Rogue. She was so incredibly kind and easy to work with throughout the entire visit, and I got the blue color I wanted! I really appreciated her flexibility and patience with all of my questions and requests regarding how I wanted my hair to look. She also gave me tons of advice for how to maintain the color for longer so that I wouldn't have to get it redone very often. I got my hair colored a few weeks back, and the color is still vibrant, and I always get compliments on it! I even explained on the phone what I wanted while looking at my reference photos and that I've had to dye my hair at home due to being new to Boston and not having hairstylist yet. My hair stylist Angela isn't even listed in the reviews or on the website, so either she is super new, or she does such bad job constantly that they remove all her reviews. I was also told that 1 person just quit and another is on vacation for the rest of the month so you can tell the remaining 2 stylists are stressed. My appointment was at 3, and I wasn't seen until 3:30 because there are only 2 stylists working there and they are crazy short staffed. I showed Angela the reference pictures I described on the phone, and she's like "I don't do that type of color, but I can do something to blend ". Then she kept on telling me I had a lot of banding, I agreed but since I clearly told them that I had to dye my hair at home a few times when I booked the appointment I figured she knew this ahead of time and had a plan. Well $315 before tip later (they didn't even charge me for the full services since I think she realized how messed up this is) , I have the chunkiest highlights I have seen since the mid 2000's . The sad part is that the whole time Angela was hyping me up and telling me it looked good, so maybe she thinks this is good work? I also had to leave the salon with my hair wet because they didn't have time to blow dry, but I think it was so I couldn't see how bad the whole head looked. For those of you looking for the full story: I'm newly able to afford investing in my hair but I've been coloring it off and on since high school. After reading reviews here, I booked a hair cut with Charlotte with the goal of getting an idea of how the salon as a whole worked and what I would get if I got my hair colored here. Instead, I was distracted by how awesome Charlotte is. She did not even for a second make me feel unwelcome or like an outsider for being used to a more budget friendly salon. I got to tell her in my extremely nontechnical language what the last stylist did in my hair, and she was able to talk me through what she was planning to do without me feeling lost in the jargain. Conversation was easy, and overall the haircut was great. I booked an appointment shortly after for the color with Josh. I'm someone who gives my stylist a lot of liberty to do what they want in my hair, so if you're wondering if he takes direction well, I told him I wanted blonder, natural, and I wasn't a fan of bayalage that goes half way up the hair. I got all of those things. So if you specify tone, thickness of highlight, where you want the highlights, I can't tell you how that goes first hand. I'm sure great though, I saw someone across the way asking him to write down what he did with it and make a few edits and he did that easily. He was just as a sweet as Charlotte, and made me feel like I fit in to the crowd. All in all, great investment and I've genuinely been so happy with the results. I've never received this many complements on a cut and color in my life. As a small aside, I keep mentioning that people made me "feel at home" and I feel like I should explain that for other people who may be nervous about an upscale salon. The first cut with Charlotte was in the middle of the week after work and the salon was very empty, so it wasn't hard to relax once her and I had chemistry going over the cut. The color with Josh was on the weekend, and the salon was packed. I'm not going to lie, the environment felt very socialite-like, and not in a way that was inherently exclusive, just in a way that I didn't know how to act around. I feel like everyone in the salon probably has this anxiety, but the stylists do a great job of making it clear that you're in your own little bubble with them and that was enough to make the rest of it feel a little removed from my hair care.

I've been going to him since 2007 when I called up D's and asked for someone who specializes in curly hair. I have fine curly hair, but a lot of it. It frizzes easily especially when it's humid outside. I have been growing it out for a few years and I just needed a better cut. Fernando knew exactly what to do with my hair. He chopped it off like I asked, and I've never looked back. Not only has he made it look good super-short, but we came up with a plan once I decided to grow it out a bit. I've never been one to shy away from risks with my hair, though I never professionally colored it, because I know that it'll just grow back. No ANTM moments here! Fernando just goes with it and he always makes me feel like a million bucks when I walk out. Not to mention, he's the sweetest guy. We've become friends over the years and I love hearing about his family. Not only does he cut and style really well, but I know he wants it to suit me. He'll cut my hair into whatever I want, but he makes suggestions that will work better and I trust him! Fernando and his wife recently took ownership of the shop and to me, that can only be good for business.
