I was visiting my mom. I'm a vegan and she is not. When I mentioned this place, she said she had been wanting to go here because she had heard so much about it. We were NOT disappointed. She got the tomato soup (vegan but she said it was really good anyway - ha) and the club sandwich which came on a croissant. I got the mock-tuna panini and fruit (sadly the coleslaw and pot. salad aren't vegan but they looked great). I loved it so much that I ordered another one to take home to my husband. Two hours later, it was still good. They even wrapped the little pickles spears separately. Oh, and did I mention that the blackberry cobbler and the strawberry rhubarb cobbler were amazing. . . sometimes I don't ask if things are vegan, just saying. Definitely worth the cheat. Upon my initial visit over a year ago, I had a cinnamon roll which tasted great until I realized there was hair in it. Stopped going, until today, I decided to give them another chance when I really shouldn't have. Placed a to go order for 2 drinks and paninis and after 45 minutes, I had to ask where my order was. They brought it right out and told me "their colleague went on break" and my order was forgotten. Past that, the menu is very bland and overpriced. If your taste buds are functioning, I wouldn't eat here. Apparently you have to be elderly and Caucasian to get decent service (this is 100% their demographic, wish I was kidding.) The only tasty thing I've eaten here was the chocolate banana smoothie, probably because it's only like three ingredients and a toddler could make it. read more

I have nothing negative to say...the warm brick interior is enhanced by natural wood tables, hardwood floors, antique accents and music softly playing in the background...and I haven't even gotten into the food! The Figgy Piggy was stacked high with thinly sliced ham, topped with a sliver of cheese, sweetened with fig jam and given a bit of a bite with red onion...sandwiched between grilled Kalama sourdough. Sublime. The "turkey and provolone" is elevated with a pesto aioli and flaky crescent...garnished with bib lettuce and freshly sliced tomato. The side? The very best homemade potato salad I've ever tasted...outside of my own family recipe, of course! So good, it could have been dessert. We stopped for lunch and loved it. We had a Chicken Salad Croissant and the Turkey Bacon Pepperjack Panini. They were perfectly prepared and delicious. We stopped by Centralia, Washington on the way from Olympia to Portland to shop the Antiques and Collectibles. While there we wandered in to Dawn's place for lunch. First let me say that the young guys who were handling the order taking and table service were very nice and super efficient. We had the Turkey Swiss sandwich and Chicken Noodle soup and both were very tasty. The place was packed and everyone was enjoying their meals, you could tell because once they started on the food they stopped talking! You have to focus on the taste to get the most pleasure out of the taste. From the dessert menu we had the Carrot Cake. By far the best Carrot Cake I ever tasted, and I try every Carrot Cake I find. Cute store in downtown Centralia with the best food around. We had our union meeting in her restaurant after closing but prior to we had dinner. Dawn's has so many good lunch and dessert options it is hard to pass up whenever I'm in town! The shop employs local teenagers and they are all quite polite and helpful! I've gotten paninis here along with several brownies and desserts; all of which have been fantastic and full of flavor! Additionally, Dawn's catered my wife and I's wedding last summer. The shop provided a variety of brownies and cookies. The arrangement was set up at the reception on beautiful platters and she handled all the details! If your in town, you need to give this place a try! I'd be here every day for lunch if I could afford it! Stopped in for lunch today while antique shopping downtown. We had soup & sandwiches that were delicious. Hubby got the hot ham & cheese with sweet hot mustard and I had the BLT, both were great. Service was warm & friendly and the seating was clean & comfy. We really enjoyed the photos displayed around the whole place. The treats here are delicious! I tried a sticky bun and it was definitely worth going back for. My date enjoyed a red velvet cupcake and also swore of it's deliciousness! The only con to this place, (maybe the lady at the counter was just having a bad day) but as we were ordering separately, she took my money and immediately stopped helping my date who was standing behind me to help a family that was not in line. Then when she assumed to help him, she was a bit unfriendly about it and seemed annoyed to be doing her job. Not even a "hello, how are you?" Fabulous! Really the best lunch we've had recently, and this counts travels up and down the west coast. The Reuben sandwich was yummy, the potato salad was excellent. What a great find! I was shopping in downtown Centralia at lunchtime. I went in and was immediately greeted with a smile. Having not been there before, I wasn't familiar with the "rules" about seating, ordering, etc. The young lady told me that I could take a seat and look at the menu. Primarily a sandwich shop, but I have to say that the dessert case immediately caught my attention. I ordered the half sandwich/cup of soup. I got a club sandwich with roasted tomato soup. They were out of chicken, but the turkey and ham was more than enough! The meats, tomato and avocado were all very fresh and the sandwich was great! I'm from Dallas, Texas and have struggled to find a tomato soup that could match La Madeleine. My search has ended! The soup was amazing! It was seasoned perfectly and a perfect match for my sandwich. I couldn't resist the dessert case and I'm so glad I didn't! I got a peppermint brownie and a slice of carrot cake to go. They are known for their carrot cake and I certainly see why! It was awesome! The cake wasn't dry at all and the cream cheese icing was perfectly done. The brownie was equally delicious. I actually liked this place - surprise. If I have to find fault - I do not care for the orange colors used in the bathrooms - but I guess their Mom does so. :) They are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was nice (not Christmas with no Christmas music) but still nice. My wife and I split the Rueben sandwich and it also was a success - no questions as to how to make it - they made the traditional Rueben. My wife also liked the bread pudding and our adult son was under orders to bring a dessert home to his wife since she like the place but could not join us.
