It's not the fanciest tea I've ever been to, but it was quite lovely. Mom, sis in law, and I made reservations for a weekday tea and the restaurant was pretty empy, but it was okay because we got there right when they opened. They gave us a tea menu where more than half the teas were marked off as unavailable, but we found a couple of teas we liked. I went for the English Grey and that was the large pot of tea we got. You also get a smaller pot so my SIL got some african fruit tea and she loved it. We got our tea goodies and my word, they are very generous with the sandwiches, which made me happy as a clam because I love sandwiches. We had so many goodies that we had to take some home. This place has different seating areas and photo ops, like the waiting area has some Diagon Alley scenery and there is a Queen of Hearts background, and other places to make your tea fancier. They would get 5 stars from me if they had devonshire or clotted cream, but I understand that it's a pricey item to keep fresh and in stock. Still, when I think tea, I need my scones with cream. Other than that, it was a great chance to talk and share

Lovely spot! We enjoyed a delicious meal and a cuppa on the way to Portland. Get there early before they sell out of pies for the day :)

Ask the Community - British Bites

Do we need reservations for afternoon tea?

I would call them. I made reservations for a party of 3 so that they would know and have food ready when we showed up. We were the only customers for the two hours we were there but people filed in later. I imagine during the holidays it gets busy,… Read more

On my way back from March Madness in Portland, I decided to stop by this Irish pub to catch up with…read morea long-time friend. To my surprise, the place was packed with customers on a Sunday afternoon. I expected a slower pace, but it was anything but. The atmosphere was lively, with people playing pool and enjoying themselves. One of the unique features of this pub is a table game that many of you may not be familiar with. It's called Table Shuffleboard, and it's one of my favorites. I've played it a few times in Alaska, and it's a great game. To play, you simply request the pucks from the servers, and it's a lot of fun. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area. We ordered a couple of beers, which were fairly decent. I had the Irish Death, and my friend opted for some of the commercialized beers like Blue Moon. They also ordered some wings, which they said were very good. They recommended that if you want extra crispy wings, you should have them fried hard. The sweet potato fries were cold, but the bartender was quick to take care of that. She brought us a fresh batch in a matter of minutes. The customer service was excellent throughout our visit. I'm giving this pub a three out of five stars. I'd like to come back and try some of the food, especially in the game day environment. I'm a vegetarian, so I didn't eat much of the food we had, but I'll definitely come back and try it again. I'll also come at night to see how it is before I consider upgrading the rating. Overall, I'll be returning to this pub for a second experience.

She returned several times asking for refills and if we needed anything. She is definitely a gem to this business. We appreciated her professionalism and sense of humor. Food was outstanding and fresh. Can't wait to return soon. Things to know: Seat yourself Bar to the left of entrance. Main dining to right of entrance. Family friendly (crayons and color sheet for kiddos).

Been coming here for about 6 years off and on now because it's in the neighborhood…read more Good beer selections, good pours on cocktails, however cocktail consistency varies depending on who's working. The food is my favorite part. I can have a beer anywhere, but the food is actually pretty on point minus the nachos, sad to say. Always overcooked, cheese is hardened and well beyond melted, but a massive portion in size. The sandwiches are amazing, the quesadillas are amazing, have yet to make it there before breakfast ends but I'm betting it's probably pretty good. Staff are friendly, efficient, and do well on checking to make sure you're not waiting too long for service without being too bothersome. It gets a little loud, busy and crowded on nights especially on the weekends, but that's typical bar atmosphere. Patio seating is nice on sunny days like today. 5/5 for a hometown spot in the neighborhood.

Years ago when she ran this bar it was the best in town and she would not let this food to be served. I will go the Huckleberry that she owns with two other steller partners and enjoy their food. The cook should check the soup pot on a regular basis to ensure that the chowder is hot and ensure that the fish is at least 135 degrees and let it warm up to over 140 degrees before serving. Jamie if you still own the Top please look into the kitchen and bring back your great menu.
