This is a slice of warm heaven wrapped in an electric blanket. To be fair, I went at 5:30 am so YMMV but I had an apple fritter and blueberry doughnut. The fritter was flat, not puffy like traditional ones, but when I picked it up it was just shy of hot. A HOT DOUGHNUT!! I hadn't had one since I was a kid outside of the occasional Krispy Kreme original. The doughnut was good, but a little dense. The blueberry was incredible. And also warm. I'm going to dream about warm doughnuts now...

A jelly filled donut, the texture was immaculate and the structure of the bread here is almost orgasm inducing

It's cheap, it's warm, it's amazing. The workers here are sweet and create a truly amazing product that is worth it in every way

I'm not a fan of donuts, but daylight donuts are so delicious and addictive. They're crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. They have tons of flavors too (like red velvet, blueberry, chocolate, bacon, etc) In addition to donuts, they have an assortment of other carb based deliciousness like biscuits, kolaches, bear claws, and cinnamon rolls. They're super cheap, and donuts are sold individually or by the half dozen. There's no minimum on cards btw!

This place may not be located in the most noticeable area, but I would definitely consider this place a hidden gem! Daylight Donuts is a family run shop that specializes in donuts, and they do quite a few varieties. The prices are super affordable. They also have some more unique offerings such as apple cinnamon rolls and various types of kolach! 7 years in Gainesville, how did I never try this place until I was back in town to visit?? So glad I had time to drop by though! The apple cinnamon roll was gigantic! Nice flaky texture on the outside, it had chunks of apple and that delicious warmth from cinnamon wrapped up on the inside. The amount of glaze on the outside was also just right. Not too heavy that everything gets sticky, but not so light that you feel like the cinnamon bun was missing something. Truly fantastic! The Sausage Kolach was fantastic as well. A well known Central European bakery item, they do a fantastic job. The sausage they use is meaty and juicy, with a slight hint of pepper to give it a kick. The bun on the outside surrounding the sausage is so soft and pillowy. It really is a dangerous item, if you're not careful, you may end up eating a whole dozen! In the time of COVID, please support your local restaurants and shops and give this place a try. Friendly people and delicious baked goods! :)

    Red Velvet Cake Donut

Rating: 10/10 This donut shop is small, but mighty. I suggest getting there early because the donuts do sell out fast. These donuts are also very affordable which is a plus! I tried 2 cake donuts (Cinnamon Sugar and Red Velvet), as well as the Apple Fritter. Let me just start off by saying that I am not the biggest cake donut fan because they are always so dry, but that is not the case with these donuts. When I bit into both of these donuts, it was as soft as a pillow and extremely moist. Both flavors were incredible, but the Red Velvet is a MUST TRY! Also, the cake donuts are quite small, which is g for donut lovers who like to eat more than one.. or two. The Apple Fritter was also great. I have tried a lot of Apple Fritters and know a good one when I see it. It was not oily or heavy. It was crunchy on the outside with a soft texture on the inside. I enjoyed there not being too much Apple in there as well. I will definitely be going back to try more donuts from Daylight!!

Daylight Donuts is easily the best place for donuts in Gainesville. They have a ton of variety with their donuts and even serve pastries like apple fritters and cinnamon rolls; the apple fritters are especially great. They also offer the opportunity to choose your own filling if you want a jelly-filled/cream-filled donut. On top of their great selection, it's incredibly affordable. I highly recommend stopping by the next chance you get.

This was my first time visiting Daylight Donuts. My sister and I ordered 3 Kolaches, 3 Donuts and 3 Pastries for about $13. I enjoyed the Jalepeno Sausage and Cheese Kolach and an Eclair with blueberry filling. It was so good! I'm not a big fan of sweets, but I have been craving an Eclair and I'm glad I got one from here! We took our order to-go but if you want to stay, they can seat about 15 people. You can of course have your morning coffee fix here as well as they offer a variety of coffees, cappuccinos and frapps. The eating space and restrooms are clean and the employees are very nice and give good customer service.

I ordered six assorted donuts (~$4 total) and the lady was so nice, she gave me extra donut holes! This is pretty much a hole-in-the-wall place with fantastic donuts and friendly service. As far as donut options go in Gainesville, I would definitely give this place a try! The parking lot is kind of annoying to get out of. I also see they do breakfast burritos, which I will have to try next time.

My chosen dozen minus the free donut they threw in because I lapsed to temptation on the ride home.

Finally made it to this GEM of a donut shop in Gainesville! Flatfish GNV is a donut shop that…read morespecializes in brioche filled donuts and vegan glazed donuts. Only open Friday through Sunday, they offer a limited selection with monthly rotating flavors, so expect lines out the door. Knowing to expect a line, especially during move-in weekend, my family and I got there about 10min before opening at 10am. There was already a line wrapped around the block! We ended up waiting in line for about 50min before ordering. Shortly after we ordered and sat down to enjoy our donuts, one of the owners notified everyone there was a limited selection left and it was likely not everyone would receive donuts. So if you are planning on visiting, just be aware of this! The service was excellent and extremely pleasant. The co-owner serving the donuts was super sweet and personable. This husband and wife team run a tight ship and really do their best to serve everyone to their best ability! The inside is quant, but there are a couple of seating options. We appreciated the nostalgic atmosphere and decor throughout. We got to the counter at the perfect time as they were just about out of the brioche. While unable to snag one of the brioche donuts, we were able to try 3/4 brioche filled and 5 of the vegan glazed. All the donuts were genuinely phenomenal and you couldn't tell the vegan glazed was vegan at all. The brioche filled donuts were super pillowy, with ample amounts of luscious cream filling. All the flavors were distinct and very good--you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed the brownie filled brioche and thought the filling was divine, almost reminded me of chocolate mousse! The vegan glazed were also great with a wonderful texture. They too were soft and very fresh, each with good flavor. I honestly enjoyed all 5 of the flavors we tried, especially the Arnold Palmer and Cherry Crumble! Overall, Flatfish GNV was most definitely worth as the hype and praise! The donuts are truly something special, with lovely presentation, flavor, and most importantly texture. The donuts themselves are large too and I definitely think the price is justified. They use great ingredients and it shows in the product they output. While the lines can get long, don't let that intimidate you! The service was perfect and this husband & wife team does a wonderful job running their donut shop. I was extremely impressed and would really like to return to try some more of their monthly flavors!

Pricing was fair, and i purchased two items for 7ish bucks. The interior was also pretty cute too and far more spacious than I thought. But...after waiting an hour...not sure it was quite worth it. The vegan glazed was a little chewy, and the sprinkle strawberry-glaze, that looked so pretty, was really just okay. Even though it's a bakery, it doesn't quite smell like one. the smell is still lingering in my nostrils, and can't quite place it... Great experience for a Gainesville classic. But for this transplant, the hype exceeded the bite!

The lady at the front was so kind and welcoming, even though it was clear they'd had a rush (it was Easter weekend, so totally understandable that people came early and stocked up!). Everything is super reasonably priced, all items are $3, and you can get a half dozen for just $12. That's wild for the quality you're getting! They have an amazing variety: danishes, cookies, pound cakes, and more. We ended up with a vanilla glazed cinnamon bun, lemon pound cake, cinnamon danish crunch, almond cloud cookie, karma cookie, and a pecan pie bar to split with one of my close friends, and every single bite was absolutely delicious. I wish I had known there was a line forming right at 7am. I would've rolled out of bed sooner. Thankfully, they told us you can call ahead and reserve, which we might just do next time because I'm already thinking about going back. I highly recommend the danishes & vanilla cinnamon glaze glazed bun and the pecan pie bar! The last time I had their brown butter chocolate chip cookies (2 for $3) I absolutely loved them, but I got one (one thick cookie) recently for $4 and it tasted like it was left in a fridge uncovered for days. I didn't even finish it, just threw it away half-eaten, that's how unappealing it was. I really used to love this place, it was pretty convenient to grab something small and cheap before work, but I don't see myself going back.
