We came here because it was the only donut place open that Sunday, and I wasn't too disappointed. For a chain, it's not bad and is definitely better than a Dunkin donut. We got there a little later in the morning (maybe around 11?) and they were running very low on flavor choices. The flavors we got were pretty tasty and not too heavy. Interesting variety of donut flavors (like Honeydew). Definitely worth trying a half dozen for a nice variety, and they are sweet but dense, so definitely different from your chain donut store. I do wish they had the menu on their site. It's convenient they have a drive thru, but it was hard to look over the rather long menu in a socially etiquette drive thru time. I like to look over options without holding everyone up. Also got an egg sandwich on an everything bagel, which was good, so don't shy away from the other non-donut menu items. Fresh made donuts! Never too busy when I've gone, but you must go early or they'll sell out of your favorites. Their red velvet donut is divine!!! I came in here as I had an hour or so to kill while waiting for a friend and didn't want to drive all the way to my favorite spot Bageland. The parking area is small and so is the building but it's cozy so I really liked that. Walking in it smelled of fried dough which is always a good thing. The service was quick and friendly. You simply walk in and place your order at the counter. The doughnut selection was pretty good I wished they had a chocolate glazed doughnut but I went with a bagel and a Boston cream with coffee. The doughnut was meh it had very little filling mostly just dough. The coffee was hot but nothing special other than the grind on the bottom and the bagel was what you would get most places though Bageland has bigger bagels fr less money. There wasn't anything amazing about this place. But the service was great, food fresh and hot. Prices average. I will say my usual place has a bigger bagel with better coffee for a smaller price but this one was really good too. I think what truly made this place special was that it gave me a mom and pop type feel. Overall I would return just because I liked my service and I liked that the doughnuts are made in house. read more

Donut Connection is a donut chain with a Gainesville location on 39th. The location has been there a while and it shows, it feels almost stuck in the 90s but I think that's part of the charm and I love it. There are very few donuts that I enjoy from here. Most of the donuts are basic and don't stand out. The double chocolate cake donut is delicious but my all time favorite is the peanut butter donut. I stopped by for the first time in the morning and was very satisfied with how fast and efficient the drive through was. Donut Connection appears to be the only non-chain donut shop in town. This made me sad. And then I tried their donuts and I wasn't sad anymore. Because I had just eaten a yummy donut. It is kinda hidden in the back and there are lots of trees, but they put out little signs to help you find your way, which is helpful. And Google maps will lead you right there. They have a drive thru and that's nice. I always get out and go in, but it's still nice because then there are less people in the store with me. And the donuts are quite tasty. Not perfect, but pretty close. I usually get a red velvet and a strawberry jelly filled. I highly recommend both. The service is friendly. Everyone there is all upbeat and smiley. Subpar donut shop. It seemed attractive because of the Mom and pop style, the drive thru, and the cheap prices, but i don't think the taste of the donuts really met any hopes. The donuts were a bit dry and the place itself felt a bit dingy. I did enjoy the German chocolate donut though - that one was probably my favorite. The worker that helped me also didn't seem like he wanted to be there either haha. They have slow business so I can understand if he can get a bit lonely but he could give a little smile? I've long been a fan of Donut Connection. After Mister Donut closed down on 13th, our family started coming here. Some of the old Mister Donut staff moved to this shop, and the donut recipes tasted pleasantly similar, so we immediately felt at home here. Perhaps it's best to not feel at home in a donut shop...hmm... Unlike the wasted calories that Dunkin peddles, these donuts are fresh, soft, and don't taste like some wax product has been injected into them to entomb flavor. I prefer the raised donuts (honey glazed, sugar raised) here. The Bavarian and Boston cream donuts are also solid choices, but sometimes their filled donuts don't have the best cream/donut ratio. The bagels while not the best are perfectly fine for a quick and somewhat healthier breakfast. Where Donut Connection could use some improvement is in the general upkeep of the business. Often times it feels a little dirtier than it should, which used to not be a problem. The change in hours was also an unwelcome change. I was one of the customers that would come here in the wee hours of the night to fill a craving, but I guess there wasn't enough business to justify the longer hours. To sum it up, come here instead of the handful of Dunkins which have popped up to dilute the understanding of what a good donut is. read more

HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE! INCREDIBLY RUDE! Denied service to my 3 year old daughter and I, was terribly rude and closed the window in my face while I was talking to him. Online it says they are open until 5PM. We drove all the way here and got there shortly after 4. Knocked on the door because someone was still there snd online it says they're open. He looked at me and kept counting his change. Then I went to the drive through and he opened the door and yelled at me saying we're closed while my daughter was right there. She was so upset. Took a long route to Titusville to stop in. This small chain shares a history with the Mr. Donut chain and we were looking for the Mr Donut peanut donut from our childhood. Excited to find this donut shop with a good yelp score. Went in this afternoon to grab a couple donuts. Shop had a very strange (not appetizing) smell. I'm not sure if it had something to do with their baking process but it didn't really make me wanna buy anything. I ordered two chocolate iced donuts. They were just OK and had a weird aftertaste. Maybe it's just the smell of the restaurant in my head but overall not impressive. Only took two bites throwing the rest away. I have been here twice now. The first time I was a little thrown off because of the breakfast sandwich I ordered. It was not very good and I didn't like the way it was quickly warmed up in the microwave before being served to me. I felt like I could have just made that at home. No chemical aftertaste like Krispy and Dunkin. Drive thru. Typically a full selection is available. Donut's are ridiculously cheap to make so it aggravates the heck out of me when my kids and I pull up to a donut shop and they are out of all the classics by 9:00 am. Make enough dang it! This place does. Cons: I wish it was a little bit more clean but it is not bad at all. Just dated which is fine if it keeps the prices down. read more

Donut Connection is a hidden Gainesville gem. There are plenty of people who may enjoy Dunkin Donuts, but their donuts are bland sugary cardboard in comparison to what Donut Connection offers. I am a huge Krispy Kreme fan, but Donut Connection is different in a good way. The yeast raised donuts are soft and delicious, tasting very rich without any excess oilyness. I much prefer yeast donuts over cake donuts, but some of the cake donut flavors available here mean half the time I get a cake donut anyhow. They have most of the classic donuts from glazed to chocolate covered to jelly-filled and a bunch of others. My personal favorites here are the bavarian creme and the angel (chocolate or vanilla frosting-filled donuts dusted with powdered sugar) donuts. Some flavors are not available every day which may be due to the availability of the ingredients. They make a crunchy peanut butter cake donut which is delicious. They make the donuts fresh every day, so if you show up early in the day, say 6 am, they may not yet have your favorite donut available. That's probably the biggest downside. If you're jonesing for something other than the usual donuts, they have excellent apple fritters which are super big, heavy, and full of apples. They also offer bagels and breakfast sandwiches on bagels which seem to be a popular item. I can't vouch for the bagels, but people seem to like them. They have regular specials, and I usually get the 2 donuts and medium coffee for $3.50. The coffee is decent donut shop coffee, I think they buy the coffee from Leroy Hill, so if you're familiar with that coffee, you'll know what to expect. They have a customer loyalty program, where I think each visit gives you one point, and you can redeem 6 points for a free donut or 10 points for a donut and small coffee. The owner is often there and quite pleasant to talk with. He also hires very nice individuals, and it's always a pleasure to drop by for a coffee and donut. The shop used to be on my way to work, but I've moved so it's not as convenient to visit, which makes me sad because the donuts and people there are so great. read more

Donut Connection is so dang good! I am a donut fanatic and am excited to have a place to fill my cravings in Gainesville. It's a little far from me but whenever I am in that area I try to stop for a sour cream donut. They also have really great red velvet donuts. I haven't had a donut I haven't liked from there, but I definitely favor the sour cream. You'll have to go early in the day if you want to snag one though, because it's common that they are sold out by the end of the day. I haven't had any of the other food there and have had the coffee which wasn't anything too crazy to comment on that. But I am voting for the sour cream donut to win the presidential election. We know its a Donut place but we havent got to acquiant ourselves yet well not yet anyway. But this review is of Mr. Bagel Egg and Cheese Sandwich. I'm not a morning person so I'm happy to say that this place serves breakfast sandwich and goodies all day long, with a plus side of having a drive thru. Service is quick and with the different times I have visited, it was always been a pleasant experience with polite and good customer service and mannered staff. Talking about the order, we got an order of the said bagel sandwich and we choose a plain one (they offer sesame or wholewheat) and was handed freshly toasted and made, the bagel itself has a great toast and crunch on the outside yet manage to maintain a soft and chewy inside when you bite unto it. It has a filling of melted american cheese slice (no substitution available) resting on a beautiful irregularly shaped yet perfectly cooked white egg with a soft gooey yolk in the middle. Three basic ingredients, cooked right, served fast and suprisingly for a donut place, it served one of the best bagel sandwich we had. Its like going back to basics, food when fresh and cooked right will produce a great tasting dish. This sandwich is the best representation of Simplicity at its finest. Oh and I forgot to mention that it can come with a medium sized freshly brewed coffee and price point is affordable.
