Bad review alert -- but I feel it's important for the Spring Hill community to be aware. I took my daughters(ages 9&11) out for what was supposed to be a special, highly anticipated sushi date. Unfortunately, what should have been a great experience turned into a very uncomfortable one. The gentleman who took our order was extremely rude from the start and made us feel unwelcome and clearly unwilling to respond to our questions about the menu. We initially gave the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might be a cultural misunderstanding. However, things only got worse. After we sat down, he never brought us water while consistently serving other tables. At one point, he even prepared a full table setting--with water and food--for a reservation that hadn't yet arrived, while we continued to sit there unattended. After nearly 30 minutes of awkward waiting, we were finally given water. What made the situation more concerning was the clear difference in how we(Caucasian Americans) were treated compared to other customers. He was warm, kind, and engaging with others--particularly those who appeared to share his background--but would not acknowledge or engage with us at all. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that I made the decision to leave for the sake of my daughters. As a father, it was clear they felt unwelcome, and that was not something I was willing to tolerate. I left without asking for a refund due to what seemed to be hostility. We've had many wonderful experiences at Asian restaurants, but our experience at Daylight Sushi was deeply disappointing. We did not feel welcomed, and unfortunately, we were treated in a way that made that very clear. Wish this was not the case and hopefully this was a major misunderstanding! read more

The sushi chef, who I think is the owner, is super rude. I ordered a roll that is on the menu (online and the printed menu on the window) and he yelled at me that basically that roll doesn't exist. After reading the other reviews for this establishment, I am relieved that my experience wasn't an isolated incident. I came in today for lunch and was greeted very nicely by the nice lady (assuming she's the co-owner). However, the older man (assuming the owner) behind the sushi bar had an attitude that he did not shy away from showing. I enjoy their bulgogi and some of their rolls, but unfortunately, the man's attitude just ruined the dining experience. This is a small town and you don't need to have that kind of outward negativity. Maybe some more secret shoppers might bring this bad practice some hard attention. read more

This is my must-visit Korean restaurant whenever I'm in Tennessee. It doesn't show up easily when searching for Korean food on Google Maps, but their kimchi stew is incredibly generous in portion and always delicious. Drove all the way here with all three kids on a Monday night with a friend visiting from out of town and spent 5 minutes looking over menu while standing up at the front register and then we finally make up our minds and they say "It'll be an hour wait for food." There were only two other customers in the restaurant. One was already eating, the other- waiting. We said "Why an hour wait?" And they said it was for online orders. I made a comment about what a bummer that was for us who drove here to the restaurant and can't we receive some care since we showed up to the restaurant? The kids working here couldn't have cared less or showed any less concern for us, their physical customers. So all that to say- the sushi here IS 4.5/5 stars. And customer service is 1/5. read more

This is THE sushi spot in Spring Hill! I will admit I haven't tried most of their menu otherwise and had an unpleasant experience with one of their dishes, but for me the sushi and by extension this restaurant still deserves 5 stars. My go to rolls are their spicy tuna rolls (add avocado and it's perfection), their spicy crunch roll, and my wife loves their Tennessee roll. Quite literally my favorite spicy tuna rolls I've ever had. Every time I try sushi somewhere else In Spring Hill I regret it and just come back to Daylight. The only downsides I've noticed: They seem to be struggling to keep staff, and sometimes there's a pretty long wait to get your sushi made. read more

Absolutely not. Never again will I walk into your establishment. My daughters (9 and 5!!!!!!!) wanted to try sushi for the first time. So we stopped in to grab a roll to go. We were the only ones in the restaurant. While I was trying to order my 5 year old touched one of their POS (point of sale) terminals and I didn't notice. The man behind the sushi bar who I believe is the owner yelled at my 5 year old daughter and waving his hand at her told her to wait outside. She is 5! I told the man not to talk to my daughter like that and I was sorry she touched the terminal. I took her in my arm and had her the rest of 3 min we were in this place. The cashier asked me what happened. I told her and she said he didn't say that........ mind blown. I said well he did. I took a deep breathe and proceeded to order as to not disappoint my children. The owner then walked around the corner and told the cashier that it would be a 1 hour wait for my food........ nobody in the restaurant. Just us. No to go orders. Nothing. This man got his feelings hurt and decided to take it out on my children and me. At this point I decided to take my family and leave. I had some choice words for the owner which I am not sorry for. My 5 year old daughter had a Gatorade in her had that I gave her and he proceeded to once again yell at her and run toward her as if she was a criminal. I had already taken the Gatorade out of her hand and set it in a table. This man was aggressive toward my 5 year old daughter. I defended my family. That is why I said what I said and I feel compelled to share this. I worked in the restaurant business for 20 years. At every level. I have never experienced something like this. I will never be back and I suggest nobody go back simply because the owner is hateful. Toward children! I simply cannot believe what happened. My poor daughters were traumatized. Crying and shaking. Recently moved from CA, trying new places in the area. We ordered To go: the Yukgajang, Miso Ramen, albacore roll, and spicy crunch roll. I love Yukgajang so much, so I really wanted to love having one close by again, but unfortunately it didn't taste very authentic, it tasted exactly like kimchi juices which is a very specific flavor and there isn't typically kimchi in Yukgajang. 2/5 Miso Ramen was decent but again not much depth to the flavor. The noodles were very good and the pork piece was tender ! 3/5 Albacore roll was decent and good bite sized , the spicy crunch roll really carried this whole meal. The SCR was really good ! 5/5 only suggestion for the sushi would be requesting it in a separate bag than the hot food because it wasn't cold when I got home (5 min away) since they were in the same bag as the soups. read more

The space is open & airy & we were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. The delicious smell of fried dough & sugar is pretty great, as are the donuts (if you get there in the morning before they sell out!). However, the sushi is made-to-order & comes out super fresh & pretty to look at. Our California roll & shrimp tempura rolls did NOT last long! Daylight Donuts used to be our go to. We loved this place. We would go for donuts and coffee in the morning and we live close so we would even pay more for convenience and get good sushi for the money. After the transition to new management the sushi has gone way down in quality and taste. Most of what we ordered last time was so spicy it was inedible...all of the same rolls that used to be our favorites. This morning I bought donuts really early and I was surprised they had alot left. I now realize why. The donuts were definitely not made fresh. They were stale leftovers that were missing ingredients like the filling in icing filled donuts. We are truly disappointed. I've been supporting Daylight Donuts since we first discovered them at their Franklin location 20 plus years ago. After reading rave reviews for this place, I had high hopes, but boy was I disappointed. They serve donuts, boba, AND sushi! 3 of my absolute fave foods so I knew we had to give this place a try. My guy and I were in the area to see a movie and decided to stop by. We ordered donuts, boba, and sushi. We ordered the most basic boba drink you could get in a typical boba shop. A Thai tea with boba (the black tapioca balls) and it was hands down the worse Thai tea I've ever had. It was extremely watered down. It tasted nothing like a Thai tea. The boba itself was mushy on the outside and extremely hard in the center. I've had many, many boba drinks and this was not boba. The donuts were OK. They tasted stale. They were edible, but nothing spectacular. We ordered 2 donuts, but they threw in an additional 4. I'm assuming because it was towards the end of the day and they didn't want them to go to waste. The saving grace for this place for us was the food. The tastiest thing we ate was the kimchi fried rice and sushi. Both the rolls were decent and the fried rice pretty good. I have to be very honest and say if you're not too familiar with boba or sushi, you'd probably think this place was legit, hence the generous 3 star rating on my part. I just know this isn't how boba or "bubble tea" is supposed to taste. I love the boba tea! The sushi looks delicious and my boyfriend was curious about it and tried it without me but he said it was good, however not our preferred sushi choice. The item that made this place my fave breakfast place were the sausage and cheese kolaches, and you had to get there as early as possible so they didn't sell out. I hadn't been in 2-3 months but my schedule finally changed so I could make it every morning. However, when I drove up this morning suspicion grew due to the lack of customers (not one car!). Then my heart was broken when I got to the window to hear they discontinued the only breakfast item that's not a donut. I did not check to see if any donuts had been discontinued, I was too caught off guard. BRING BACK THE KOLACHES! Daylight Donuts is better than Daylight donuts and sushi.
