Was here today for lunch with a party of six. The place had a lot of empty tables, but the service was so terrible. Waitress forgot to bring a couple of drinks and seemed surprised when we asked about them ten minutes later. Food took way too long, and we had to ask multiple times for an update on when it would come. We got the same answer each time: "it's literally waiting for you I'll getting it now" and then another five minutes before we had to ask again. Food was fine, nothing was that great and honestly the stress of eating there made me never want to go back, even if the food was kind of ok. Another bad sign: we sat down as a large table of 10+ got up next to us, and the table remained uncleared for the whole time we were sitting there. No one seemed to know what was going on. read more

When I finally ordered a plain burger was told it could only be cooked "pink" or "no pink" also only wanted one patty but the waitress told us we couldn't do that and the double patty was the only option. We went here Friday night and the lot and restaurant were full so this is clearly a popular spot. The first and last impression is that this is a very noisy restaurant. We had to raise our voices to be heard and I had to shout and repeat myself often. There was a musician playing (we were seated relatively close)and although she was talented (we even gave her a tip)and would have been more enjoyable in another setting, the music and acoustics of the room put the noise level beyond comfortable conversation level. We ordered the blackened wings, calamari and heirloom tomatoes and burrata for appetizers. They were all good but wings and tomato portions were smaller than expected. My bucatini with clams was very good but at $30, neither this nor any of their entrees come with any dinner rolls or side salad. My teen son ordered swordfish and it came with a small piece of fish over rice with a few leeks,i.e, a small portion. Again-no rolls or salad to round it out. Sides with entrees are minimal or small portions. As soon as we got home, my son went into our refrigerator because he was still hungry! Not typical of him and not what you hope to see after paying a big dinner bill. RIPOFF!! BAD FOOD BAD SERVICE BAD ATTITUDES - AVOID!! Daymark was the only restaurant in our area of LBI where we could get a reservation for our party of 9; now we know why. Based on the on-line menu I thought we were going to a decent restaurant not a dive bar, there was no live music but it was so loud that we could not talk to each other. Overall we had a horrible experience, this is the worst restaurant on LBI. While ordering two of my sons said they wanted the fish sandwich ($20), I heard the waitress say it wasn't good and she suggested the Alaskan king crab legs off the specials menu. Both my sons went for it. We ordered a variety of things. One appetizer was the steamed clams We've had steamed clams many times but these were different. What came was about a dozen tiny clams, which maybe were steamed in some type of butter sauce. They were tasteless and a waste at $15. The chicken wings as an appetizer were good. Everyone wanted wine so I ordered a couple of bottles off their weak wine list. I know wine and order it often but looking at the wine list I dreaded what was coming and was right as neither bottle of pinot noir or sancerre was good at all. LBI is known for its scallops and I ordered those off the specials menu assuming they would be fresh and reasonably priced being local. I was wrong...they were mediocre and small and found out later the price was $43! A ripoff for a local product. The king crab legs were small and tasteless and both my sons were still hungry. Other dinners ordered were the swordfish and salmon which were both small and only ok. Overall we did not have a very pleasant meal Then the bill came and I was shocked. The king crab legs were $65 each! And there was a mandated 20% large party gratuity. Then it hit me what I had witnessed; the sleezy waitress had sold my sons up from a $20 dish to a $65 dish, whose price was not disclosed on the menu. I called the waitress over and questioned both the $65 charge and gratuity, and got a non answer. I know large party gratuities are often charged but every other restaurant I've ever been at discloses that on the menu; on Daymark's dive bar menu there was no mention. We were on LBI having been invited to stay at someone's house for the weekend so I was taking everyone out that night and didn't want to make a public stink so I paid and walked out. A few days later I called and talked to Paul Savarese who said he was the manager. I told him what happened and asked for a refund of $100 to cover the selling up ripoff and huge tip of over $100 for bad service He denied his waitress would ever do what I personally saw and heard happen. WAKE UP PAUL! ALL YOUR WAITRESS WANTED WAS TO BE PAID MORE. For all I know the restaurant might have taught her that trick. He offered a small discount on our next visit which I rejected since I would not be caught dead in Daymark ever again. STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT DAYMARK BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST read more

Do not waste your time here. I came in here with my family of 5. Two were underage and the rest were over 21. We came for happy hour (oysters), they told us that the younger kids could not sit at the bar, which was fine. We then waited at the bar to be served without the kids. We then were told we could go to the high top tables so the kids could sit with us and happy hour would be extended to the high top tables. No one comes to us for 10 minutes, so we go to the bar and ask to order. Then the bartender says the happy hour is not part of the high top section and we explained that we were sent here. They finally told us no so we sat back at the bar and the underage kids sat at a low top table right behind us (there was no one dining in the entire restaurant). Someone came over and said they had to get up and were not allowed to sit there. We politely asked why and they said that they were reserved. During our 30 minute period that we were here the dining room stayed empty (it was 4:00, not like it was at 7:30 during rush hour dinner). Their customer service is AWFUL. Ordered a lobster roll at $22.00 - pathetic, came on a cookie sheet, brown paper was all wet from a pickle they threw on the pan, lobster was for a kid's meal perhaps, home made chips cold and soggy a total mess, plated like an amateur chef. Salmon dish no vegetables, sautéed onions !!! for about $24.00. Come on step up your Game or lower the prices. Totally out of you league here. This place is overpriced for what you get in quantity and quality. The menu selection is small, and not varied, as there are not many non meat entrees. Even the pasta and clams entree has pork in it, which is odd. think the only vegan options are 1 salad and roasted potatoes. I ordered a salad because I was not that hungry. It was $10 and smaller than the size of a side dinner salad. It was extremely small and it was just ok. It was butter lettuce, a few blue cheese crumbles, candied pecans, 4 slices of red onion (that did not go well at all with the salad), and a very mediocre vinaigrette dressing. My boyfriend got the crab cakes. They were good and so was the slaw that came with them. The entree was appetizer sized. There were 2 crab cakes that were the size of silver dollars, and a small side of slaw. Nothing came with the entree--no soup, no salad, no bread. It was $27. We left hungry. As for ambiance and decor, the lamp over the table was so bright and annoying, I felt like I should be in an interrogation room. I sat off to the side so it didn't shine in my eyes. The booth was nice looking wood but uncomfortable to sit in. I liked the wooden walls and the blue beachy looking distressed wood under the bar, but neither of them went with the odd wallpaper. The service was fine. We were here in January and it was not that crowded. There didn't seem to be that many parking spots and the lot is gravel. What, no oyster crackers? So, I have been coming to LBI for the past 4+ decades. I also like food. A lot. I go out to eat. Frequently. I really wanted this to be. 4 or 5 star review. Yelp doesn't allow half stars or I would have given 3-1/2 stars. Atmosphere: bright, pretty clean (the grout on a white tile floor will always look a little dinghy if it isn't oxyclean / power washed regularly). The bar layout is terrific and I love the white washes wood and huge windows at the front (a far cry from the Rick's of the old days). I found the bizarre, trippy wall paper throughout the rest of the place to be seriously not beachy to the point of being annoying. Service: (at the bar). adequate. Nothing special- ordered drinks, they came. Ordered food, it came. Food: Had local (High Bar Harbor) and Delaware Bay oysters. The HBHs were sooo good! The DBs were good, no complaints. My complaint is that they do not have oyster crackers. Seriously??? Also had conch fritters- a little heavy on the breading, but tasty. It was early and we weren't in the mood for dinner yet. I had a burger and it was like a BK burger. The restaurant is nice to look at, but it definitely does not meet the standards when it comes to food. Great causal bar on the island with teacup all bar/TVs as well as tables for dining. The steamed clams were great (awesome butter & garlic broth) and the special of sea scallops on a bed of corn and bacon jam was plate-licking good! This is the second time I have had a horrible experience at Daymark. We went for Happy Hour and sat at the bar. Unfortunately, we were fairly close to the live music due to the fact that people who arrived earlier took all the seats at the far end of the bar where the piercing music didn't make conversation impossible. There are only two bartenders and, unfortunately, ours was both rude and inattentive--- and he had an excuse for everything that went wrong. The food, for the second time, was horrible--- dry chicken, burned burritos, greasy fried potatoes, onion soup which tasted like a prepared packet of dry onion gravy. The only positives were the raw oysters (how could you ruin those) and the reasonably priced glasses of wine. read more

The Daymark was surprisingly delicious this evening. Last summer it was a bit off, but my family and I decided to give it one more shot and I'm very happy we did. Our server couldn't have been sweeter or more accommodating. I had the salmon and we ordered a side of crispy garlic potatoes, which were amazing! The salmon was cooked perfectly. On top of everything, the decor is great and a bit more posh than your average LBI restaurant. We will definitely be returning! read more

Worst dinner on the island this year. The medium burger was charred and inedible, the two rib eyes were undercooked (and they didn't have steak knives, so had to use a butter knife to cut them), and the waitress didn't know the difference between salmon and shark. The place was empty and the waitress was still non responsive (including forgetting to get us drinks). It will be interesting to see what is in the spot next year as this place will not make it (and for good reasons). read more

Ok restaurant but lacks somethings with the food. I ordered crab cakes and it came out with everyone else's order. There were 4 of us. My meal was lukewarm not sure why. Didn't send it back because what would they do put it in a microwave or redo the order but by the time I would get it everyone else would have been finished before I would get it. The price of my crab cakes was$27. I actually thought that was reasonable but they did have a lot of filling compared to crab meat. Salads do not come with Entrée and must be purchased separately. It does have a liquor license and had a good selection of craft beer. The staff was very friendly and restaurant was busy but didn't feel like it was so compact you couldn't move. Did not have to wait long to be seated. The noise level was acceptable and you were able to carry on a conversation without shouting. Its location in Barnegat Light which means it has little competition. I think if they had competition they would step up their game. Overall not a bad place. read more

Brought to you by the management duo of "The Arlington" further south on LBI, Daymark is the complete renovation of the former well known dive - Rick's American Cafe for 30+ years. Before I go further, I disclose the following: we know more than a few of the front and back of house employees well, so the review includes some inside information not otherwise evident. So, I'll start by saying that the makeover is transformative. Rick's was a dank joint you could count on for decades to knock back a cold bottle of Bud served to you by a salty bartender while enjoying the aroma of several years of spilled tap beer soaked into carpet laid in the 80"s. More than once I've witnessed a few bar fights and many nights of over-served youth crying on a companion's shoulder while the cover band played "Dream On" slightly off key. It was legendary and I loved it, but past its time. Daymark is brand new, clean, well-lit, open and welcoming. Still working out the kinks in the kitchen and with service, but that's to be expected given it just opened. The staff is friendly and the not-quite-extensive menu is surprisingly novel - with more than a few dishes that should cause you to ask the waitstaff questions about preparation and presentation - which is cool. Our experience suggested they have been trained to expect it and weigh in enthusiastically with recommendations and suggestions. Always dependent on who's assigned to you, but our experience was good. We ordered lots of stuff and everything came out mostly excellent (if not quite at the same time for our party), The Cheeseburger was cooked to order, flavorful and juicy and the sweet bun added a nice contrast to the double patty. It's slightly smaller than you'd expect, which to me is a positive, as I like my burgers thin and flavorful rather than monstrous and inevitably poorly cooked. The Salmon and Fish Sandwich were both fresh and generous portions of fish (the sandwich is a swordfish fillet) and the sides were solid - Fresh Chips (old bay style), Cauliflower Mac and Cheese and the Corn Cob bites were all hot, fresh and tasty. salads were ok - not exceptional and really the only negative was the steamers which had as much sand as clam inside. cocktail menu is inventive but not unbalanced. Liquor is a very personal thing so I can't make any specific recommendations, but the staff is happy to. The one thing that will be inescapable however is the OVERWHELMING NOISE inside the place - at least at dinner. The flat ceiling, combined wth the tile floors and hard molded concrete surfaces all sharply amplify the TV sound, chair scraping and people literally having to yell at one another to talk. The experience is jarring at best and annoying at worst - and that's before the live music goes on at 11 pm or so (music was good by the way) Ordinarily, I would chalk this up to the final elements of design (like area rugs, floor runners and art being installed, but I'm told by staff that - no - this is it. Which I believe by the way. The only real complaint I have about the sister restaurant - Arlington - is the same thing. Way too noisy. Which is strange since all that needs to be done it what was suggested - a few area carpets, a couple of fabric acoustic panels on the ceiling and walls. Overall, a great place for a date, family dinner, or just to have cocktails and a great addition to the north end of LBI. Just make sure you're not trying to propose. Awesome new restaurant near the lighthouse which just opened about a month ago. The place has a bright and fun atmosphere, huge bar and tons of seating. We went on a date night and left the baby with family, but there were many families with young children. My husband got the lobster bake and I had the flat iron steak special. Second visit. Same complaint as first time: too loud to enjoy any conversation with dining companions. Order took an hour to come out. Scallops dinner was meager for $30. One person enjoyed it, the other said it wasn't close to being worth the price. My dinner was same as first time- spicy seitan gyro. Loved it the first time; not even close to the same sandwich the second time. Seitan was large tough pieces. The pita was so loaded with sauce it fell apart. The chips were over spiced. Again very different from last time. The smokey fishermans stew was tasty but lukewarm. The boneless Bronzino had bones in it. Very disappointed. Lunch was really great. We walked in and became concerned since there were very few patrons but it filled up pretty quickly. Brooke was our waitress and did a great job, attentive and courteous. The crispy fish was really well done, freaks and crunchy and flavorful. My wife enjoyed the gyro and was really surprised how great it was. It's one of those dishes that once you pick it up you can't put it down. It's a newer restaurant and they are working out a few kinks but they are on the right track. read more

I heard several moderate reviews about the Daymark. But as an LBI local I give them kudos for the fast renovation of Rick's and opening a terrific place that was truly needed in BL. No easy feat. The atmosphere is bright, decor thoughtful, and the staff friendly. While the menu is somewhat limited, the food is tasty and drink prices are fairly priced. I think their sister restaurant, The Arlington is terrific, and the Daymark will only get better with time as they smooth out their operation and refine/expand their menu. read more

Seafood is great and extremely fresh, extensive beer list, friendly staff, and there's a lovely event space upstairs too. We went for lunch and started with the glazed wings; they were delicious. He had a Burger and raved about it. Cooked perfectly and flavorful. I finally decided on the Crispy Fish Sandwich and it was excellent. They place is bright, clean, relaxing and fun. Our cocktails were delicious. I could have hung out there all afternoon. When we went it was a gorgeous day, but it was quiet. I think if the place were packed the noise level would be outrageous, much like my beloved Arlington. Can't wait to go back for dinner. I live the Farrow with pickled onions Staff is always generous with their time and recommendations. Fun fact been going here for 3-4 years. Always talk to the waiter/bartender. Having a convo with a friend come to find out he acts like a regular employee and he owns it. I live that about small business. We dint need to toot our horns we can be normal among many. We visited for lunch. The crabcake sandwich had "no taste" of crab, the fish sandwich was "dry" and the 'fried oyster' sandwich was very 'fishy' tasting. We have had several meals here before but tonight's was absolutely terrible Sunday Sept 26, 2021...The "B" team in the kitchen would have done this place good if they stayed home. Food took a long time and then came out cold (inexcusable). Scallop dish was missing the usual corn and bacon garnish and was 4 plain scallops MP, with literally a smear of Parsnip spread on the plate. NY Strip steak "special" was ordered med rare and came out med well (use a real steak next time). paid top $$ for both dishes and they were horrible. Chicken Tortilla soup (also a special) tasted like dirty dishwater with cocktail onions??, no chicken and was served warm (I dare the owner or staff to taste the soup, who made that??!!!). All meals came with Garlic potatoes that were burned potato crumbs that tasted like leftovers from yesterdays home fries breakfast....still left 20% tip on a way overpriced meal for the value. will be a long time before we go back...Chef tonight, you should be embarrased. read more

This place is overpriced. Dinner for 4, with 2 glasses of wine each ($10 and on the small side) and tip came to $250. Not too bad, but describing the portions of anything that we were served as generous was a gross overstatement. Two of us ordered salmon ($26) and 2 ordered the halibut ($33). Nothing came with the entree--no soup, no salad, no bread. Bibb lettuce salad was ala carte ($10) and the waitress said big enough to split. NOT! It was very small, much smaller than a salad served as a regular side with dinner. The entree was appetizer sized. The salmon was maybe 3" x 5", accompanied by a few small, sliced Yukon potatoes. The halibut even smaller. We left hungry and headed for the DQ next door for soft-serve. As far as ambiance goes, we were seated in a booth by the window with the early-evening sun blasting in. No shades on the window so no relief from the sun. Our companions, sitting on the sunny side of the booth, wore their sunglasses.
