This was our first time dining here and it was amazing. We chose to sit outside facing #1 and #9 but you can also face Four Peaks, another nice view. Candace was our server and she was great, funny too. We ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and the DC Club with fries. I'm a club sandwich fanatic and this was the best club in many many years if not ever. Tons of meat and goodness. And the fries were battered and delicious as well. The food used to be good here, with the previous owners. They had a much better menu, & the fish fry on Friday nights was good. The fish fry they have now isn't good at all. Flavorless fried filets, soggy French fries, chewy hush puppies that have a gross powdery center, and a small Cole slaw that's always warm. It seems that the big draw for this restaurant is the spectacular views, not so much the service, or food. Please note that the menu that's on their Yelp listing, is outdated. I tried to place an order by phone. The guy that answered told me I had the wrong restaurant, none of the items I tried to order were on their menu. You'd have to Google their current menu, if you want to see what they have. The guy that answered the phone was abrupt, & condescending also. The Grill has changed their fish. It was fabulous before but it is absolutely incredible now. It is so soft and flaky and the breading was unbelievably crispy and so good. I'm not sure if they change the coleslaw but it was way too runny for me. I'm not a coleslaw lover but I really love theirs but I was there Friday night and there was just too much dressing. I am going back with friends this coming Friday night so give this coleslaw another try. read more

The burger patties are HORRIBLE. Frozen pucks worse than you had in high school. Terrible flavor, no grill or flattop taste. Simply awful. Even in the mushroom cheeseburger you will not be able to avoid the sad flavor of pitiful beef product and cooking job. At these prices you'd expect much better. I've had hundreds of burgers across the valley and this is amongst the worst. The Caesar salad was too lightly dressed and way too expensive. Views are nice. But this feels like a cafeteria in a nursing home. I bet the burger would be better in the nursing home though. It couldn't not be. read more

DC Bar & Grill, is the so called 19th Hole for the Desert Canyon Golf Club. It's a good place to grab some food, relax and enjoy the views. They have a nice menu, (see attached) but the service is just okay . We came here recently with a friend and had a beautiful shaded view of the golf course. The young part-time summer help was... well, was not familiar with the menu, or what came with what. Some of what we ordered was off and in one case, just zany wrong. Oh My goodness gracious!!! Ok I came here a couple years ago. Ordered the fish and chips and was not impressed. Wasn't going to visit again....to be honest. But today my son applied for a job (he is 14) and we decided to have an ok lunch/dinner. And I must say......amazing! I will be back. I'm a flight attendant and I've traveled for 17 years.... I did ask for the burger medium rare and it came medium well..... but honestly it was delicious. This burger is in my top 3 best burgers I have ever had. I had the Blackened Blue Cheese burger My son had the boneless wings And my husband had these too die for chicken teriyaki tacos. Maybe we will go back tomorrow Highly recommend even if you've been here in the past and sort of let down. Oh and did I mention the onion rings??? They were the best onion rings I've ever had. We dined there a few months ago and found the experience to be just okay. However, we've ordered takeout twice in the past week and have noticed a significant improvement. They have a new cook, and Jae, who manages the front of the house, is fantastic! I ordered a salad, which came in generous portions, leaving enough for leftovers. My son, who is quite picky, got a regular cheeseburger and found it delicious. My partner tried the Philly Cheesesteak and said it was the best he's had in FH! Spectacular views enjoyed from the outside patio facing the Four Peaks Wilderness overlooking the golf course and Fountain Hills neighborhood. We've enjoyed the Friday night fish fry here for several seasons. In just the past week the management has changed. "Everything has changed" to quote wait staff. They have a limited "transition menu". It's not good. Price for the fish and chips has gone up six dollars from last Friday. Fish fillets are quite a bit thinner, still a frozen product. They were overdone. EVERYTHING WAS SIMPLY OVERCOOKED. The french fries, new "crinkle cut" are tasteless and overdone. Cole slaw is dry. Not as great as before. Tartar sauce is acidic. Not a great taste. Needs to mellow. Basket of onion rings (a frozen prepared item) way overcooked. I mean overdone. See photo, judge for yourself. Hushpuppies no longer included. Yet price is 66% higher than the item was one week ago. You get less. You pay more. Way more. Iced tea with lemon was enjoyed. It was the best. I enjoyed my tea. Great! Fish is now plated, it was previously presented in a basket. Nice; but I was okay with the basket presentation. In conversation with staff we learned the restaurant has been taken over by the DC "hierarchy". They are hoping to remodel both the kitchen and the seating areas. We had previously heard rumors the last operator was contemplating retirement. Certainly it is due for some upgrades in environment and food quality if they are to charge the new prices on their transition menu. I personally will take a reprieve. I intend to check out other Friday fish fry options but more than likely I will fix my own Trident cod filets from Costco at home. I can make my own hush puppies and home cut fries. I've done it before. With inflationary prices I'll miss going out to eat. But hey guys. You gotta know what's good and what's not good. I may give DC Bar and Grill a chance to get over their hiccups. I may come back this Fall. I do hope the upgrades bring it up to par. read more

Great stop during our Fountain Hills visit. We tried to get drinks at Cielo, but it was closed for a private event. So glad we came here! My hubby is from FL and he felt like he was back home. Nice breezy patio and views for days. Service was prompt and drinks were delectable. We only came for snacks and we were surprised by the quality of the food. Southwestern spring rolls were huge! Nice kick to them with chicken, pepper, and a sweet note with mangoes. The cauliflower wings were also great. The bites were baked instead of fried, delicious! The whole time I was here, I felt like I was being punked. "Where are the cameras?" I wondered. I kept wondering why my mother, a woman who is not particularly snobbish about restaurants but does appreciate tasty food accompanied by a good beverage, would bring me to a place that serves its condiments in plastic souffle cups. When we were seated in a table near the window where I could watch their fancy birds, my mother asked our server, who seemed pleasant enough (and of course wasn't wearing a mask because Arizona) if they had Alaskan Ale. They did not, which is strange because for some reason, probably a distribution monopology, almost every bar in Fountain Hills has Alaskan Ale, so she asked what they did have. The uninspired list was rattled off, and my mother went with a Kilt Lifter. I asked our server what style this so-called Kilt Lifter is (besides the obvious Scottish influence), and she apologetically admitted that she did not know. How does a server at a bar restaurant in a golf course not know the style of one of the three beers that is not a Budweister or Miller product? I ponder questions like these late at night, but I try to be charitable. I remember what it was like to be a cocktail waitress at a golf course. Besides, it's not her fault; it's her managers'. They should not have put her on the floor without knowledge of the menu. When she brought the Kilt Lifter, I looked at it, smelled it, and even tasted it (though that last step was not entirely necessary and was just for me), and informed the server it was an amber ale. For her edification. "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes was playing on repeat for our entire lunch. I asked my mother if the management was doing it perhaps to compel the dozen or so lovely older women playing mah jongg in one whole corner of the dining room to leave, but she said she thought they liked having them there. I decided she was right-- without the mah jongg players and us, the place would have been empty. I tried to distract myself from the song that I have detested since 1993 by looking at the birds out the window and Googling what they were, but it didn't help. I tried to make small talk with my mother, but since this was day five of a six-day visit, there wasn't much left to discuss. I wanted a salad, but I couldn't imagine enduring a stay long enough to eat a plate of food that involved that much forkwork and chewing, so I ordered a quesadilla, thinking they couldn't mess it up too much. (Alas, it tasted like warm cardboard). My mother got fish & chips, which she ate part of. I was jealous of her food-- even so-so or bad food is better fried. Everything tasted like it came straight from the Cysco truck with little imagination employed to assemble into a meal. When my mother was through with her fish and the beer had been drained and it was finally time for us to leave, we tried to get our server's attention. She was doing sidework near the bar and seemed to have forgotten that she had dropped off our check. My mother had to approach her while I walked to the ladies room, praying the speaker in there was broken. God did me one better-- he changed the song. It was some new country jam I'd never heard before, and I'd never heard anything better. [I realize I have used a considerable amount of snark in this review-- more than I have used in quite some time, but our lunch really, really deserved it. It really did. We have been coming for several months for the Friday Night Fish Fry. The bonus of hush puppies was a real treat. Everything was delicious and the view spectacular. Recently, the fish fry changed. We were told they "upgraded" the fish. The fish was not nearly as good, the fries were not as good, no hush puppies, and the price increased. Unfortunately, we had brought out of town guests with us after raving about the fish fry night. We will not be back for the fish fry. A real disappointment. read more

After finally being seated, due to covid I used my wipes to re-wipe the table and our wipes were completely black after wiping the table. The 4 of us looked at each other like, how is that, others were just sitting at this table. We all ordered the fish fry. (We are from Wisconsin, which is known for it's Friday fish fries.) The coleslaw tasted home made and was very good, the tarter sauce excellent, the french fries nice and hot and the fish was a huge disappointment. I ordered delivery from them a couple weeks ago. The French onion soup was great. Everything else was literally disgusting. I was really surprised as I love their food. Someone said the main cook is out for medical reasons. I wish I would have known this before ordering. Everything besides the soup was cold when supposed to be hot, hot when supposed to be cold, and undercooked when supposed to be crisp. I have been going here for years and am dissatisfied. Also called and left a message for Tim the next day but never received a return call which is why I'm leaving a review now after waiting for a week for a response.
