DC Charcoal Chicken is a Peruvian-Mexican restaurant that knows how to make a first impression. The moment you walk in, the smell of the seasoned chicken hits you it's smoky, tantalizing, and absolutely mouthwatering. You can even see the chickens roasting on the rotisserie in the back, which just makes you even more hungrier. One thing I immediately appreciated was how clean and pristine the food area was. Whether you're ordering in person or placing an order online, you can see everything is handled with care. The food itself? cooked to perfection juicy and consistent every time. Fun fact: I was actually referred to this spot by a doctor who practices halal, and they mentioned this restaurant as their go-to because it's halal-certified. I did my own research to confirm, and that made me respect the place even more.

Delicious. Lomo Saltado was so good. Food takes about 10 minutes to come out, and is worth the wait.

After being sick for a week, I was looking forward to eating something other than soup and decided…read moreto visit Charcoal Chicken in Loehmann's Plaza. I hadn't eaten there in over five years, so I was hoping the food was still as good as I remembered. My visit was on a Friday evening, around 6:00 or 6:30 PM. The dining room was relatively quiet, with only two other customers present, and I was immediately greeted upon walking in. I asked the cashier about the new menu item, the "Lamb Chops." He described them as pan-fried, noting that an order includes two to three nice-sized chops and comes with two sides. I decided to order the lamb chops to go, selecting the arroz chaufa (fried rice) which was a $1 upcharge and plantains as my sides. I was extremely disappointed when I opened my order and found that I had been served lamb shoulder for $18 and not the lamb chops I expected (typically rib or loin chops). To add to my disappointment the quality of the Lamb was very poor; it was tough, contained an excessive amount of connective tissue and fat, and was ultimately inedible. I ended up having to throw the entire portion away. The arroz chaufa also had inconsistent quality. While the flavor was good, the texture varied significantly, with parts being mushy and overcooked, and others remaining hard and undercooked. The Plantains were cut too thick and were also undercooked. Given the cost and the expectation associated with "Lamb Chops," I was extremely unhappy with my meal. I believe the cut of meat served was misrepresented, falsely advertised and the quality was unacceptable. I certainly cannot recommend this item to others and regret not ordering the chicken, which I know your restaurant prepares well.

TikTok had me in a chokehold... so I FINALLY tried Jollibee! And honestly? I have thoughts!…read more I've seen SO many Jollibee reviews all over TikTok that I couldn't wait to finally try it for myself. Walking in, the atmosphere was clean, pleasant, and BUSY! So if you're going, be prepared to stand in line for a bit. And listen... they actually handed me a buzzer to let me know when my food was ready! I've never gotten a buzzer at a fast-food restaurant before. The wait wasn't terrible, but it was definitely longer than I expected. I ordered the 6-piece chicken bucket with two sides, fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, a peach mango pie, and two drinks for $21. Not a bad deal at all! We got a mix of mild and spicy chicken. I'm definitely a white-meat chicken girl, so I was a little disappointed when my spicy piece was dark meat. It wasn't really my preference, but I will give Jollibee this: THE CRUNCH ON THAT CHICKEN WAS AMAZING! Now let's talk sides... Fries: Cold. Absolutely not. Mashed potatoes: Very little flavor and tasted like boxed potatoes to me. Gravy: NOW THIS had flavor! Definitely the MVP of the sides and perfect for dipping. Peach Mango Pie: Way too sweet for my taste. I couldn't get into it. Overall, Jollibee definitely deserves a try! The chicken crunch alone is worth experiencing, and next time I'd definitely switch up my sides and go with white rice and gravy. I'll also be skipping the dessert. Would I go back? Yes. Am I rushing back? Absolutely not. MY RATING: 5/10 The chicken has potential, the price was reasonable, and I'd try it again--but there's definitely room for improvement with those sides!

I love Jollibee's mission and theme of togetherness. Recently, I went in for their Final Fantasy collab since I love that video game series. I loved how cute the packaging and merch were. Our meal box came with free FF x Jollibee stickers and they were so adorable! The design on the cups was super cute too. I usually do online pick up orders, which go smoothly. However, the day I went to sit down was super busy. I think it was the Sunday post-church rush. We waited a little over 30 minutes. I wasn't too upset because I see the staff working hard, and I assumed I just came in at the wrong time. Either way, I'll be back! Take advantage of their rewards system! There's always some promo going on. Plenty of free parking spots in the lot and you there are shops you can walk to.

When we arrived, the restaurant was not busy, yet no one greeted or seated us inspite of the board saying " Please wait to be Seated" . We eventually walked to the counter to place our order. The staff member serving us was cold, unfriendly. Since it was our first visit, we expected at least a warm welcome or some guidance on the menu, but none was offered. We simply ordered what looked appealing. We weren't offered water, after I asked Instead of handing me a glass which she did for everyone, she simply pointed and said, "The water is over there." That interaction made me feel unwelcome. The wait for our food was unreasonably long. I noticed that our meals had already been prepared but were left sitting on the counter instead of being brought to our table. Many other customers appeared frustrated by the delays, especially families with young children who were visibly struggling with the long wait. Throughout most of our visit, we could only see the kitchen staff. There seemed to be no one attending to the dining area or checking on guests. When our food finally arrived, it wasn't even hot. We ordered the half chicken with peri-peri fries and the chicken breast with Brussels sprouts. I could not see any sauce on my food, I ordered Medium sauce, you can see in the picture I posted. My chicken breast was burnt, dry, and had a bitter taste. The sauces were good, especially the Saka sauce, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the experience. What disappointed me most was the complete lack of customer service. I later decided to order another item, but there was no one at the counter. After waiting for several minutes without anyone returning, I gave up. To make matters worse, the payment process still prompted for a tip despite the absence of service, which the staff mentioned. Tipping should reflect good hospitality, and unfortunately there was very little service provided during our visit. It was disappointing that my birthday dinner ended this way. I chose this restaurant because of its beautiful atmosphere, but attractive décor alone cannot make up for poor service, long wait times, and food that arrives cold and overcooked. Judging by the reactions of the other diners, we were not the only customers who left disappointed. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

I'm sad about the peas, but this time i discovered a new obsession: their Brussels sprouts. Oh. My. Goodness. I will dream about them. The peri ranch on top of them was just *perfection.* The chicken is always so juicy and freshly made. The char on it smacks every time. You can choose different sauces to dip it in. They're available to bring to your table where the silverware and napkins live. I always get my chicken medium spicy and dip it in the wild herb or the garlic sauce. 10/10. Can you tell I'm obsessed? I've picked up orders for coworkers, friends, and assorted non-believers, all in my ongoing mission to share my guilty pleasure with anyone willing to listen. Most recently, M Chicken catered my 3-year-old's birthday party because apparently my child has already developed excellent taste. His words? "Spicy chicken!" Now, the soy garlic chicken isn't really spicy-spicy, but it does have a little sneaky building heat from the red pepper. It's not going to set your soul on fire, but you may find yourself taking a couple extra sips of water like, "Okayyy, 안녕하세요 heat, I see you." The chicken itself? Crispy, juicy, flavorful, and dangerously easy to keep eating. The snow onion and soy garlic are my absolute go-to flavors. The snow onion sauce is creamy, savory, slightly sweet, and just makes the whole thing feel extra. 너무 맛있어요 -- so delicious! And please do not sleep on the coleslaw. It is probably my favorite side. Slightly pickled, crunchy, tangy, flavorful...basically the perfect cool little sidekick to all that fried chicken goodness. The rice is always on point too. Fluffy little clouds of rice perfection. No sad, sticky, forgotten rice over here. At the birthday party, we had 43 people, and not ONE person had anything bad to say about the chicken. Plenty went back for seconds, which is always the real review. People can lie with words, but they do not lie with a second plate. And somehow, even the fish is divine here. I keep telling myself I'm going to branch out and try more of the menu, but every time I walk in, the chicken starts whispering, "가지 마...come back to me." And apparently I have no self-control. 맛있어요, M Chicken. You win again. The restaurant was clean, well-lit, and had plenty of available seating. I ordered the quarter chicken with Peruvian fried rice and sweet plantains. I also enjoyed the green sauce provided, though the food was flavorful enough on its own. My only minor suggestion is for the staff to ask guests whether they prefer white or dark meat when ordering. Aside from that, the meal was excellent. If you are looking for authentic, great-tasting Peruvian chicken, I highly recommend stopping by El Pico de Oro.
