We had a great time with Kayla, the food was great, service was spectacular, and we will absolutely be back!

I never write reviews. We came in, mind you it is not busy in here. We placed our order at 9 and then proceeded to have to wait over an hour for our food. Before the food even came, receipts came out and we were unpleasantly surprised with an auto gratuity of 15%-- fine, we'd already ordered and didnt wanna be AHs. After a bit over 30 mins of waiting, a member of our party went up to check on the status of our orders, and paid for themself thinking the food would be out soon. We were told that the food was being plated, which was definitely a blatant lie as the food didnt come out until over an hr had passed. No apologies or acknowledgment by the waitress when she came with our food. Then when we walked up to the counter to pay, proceeded to pretend as we didnt exist and pushed the task back and forth. Ah, and the food was MID. If one of us didnt pay already, we wouldve left. What a huge waste of time. read more

Me and my boyfriend came here when we arrived Good Friday evening for dinner. We drove all the way from central Virginia, and were very hungry. The Chicken Spot was one of two restaurants available that wasnt egregiously expensive, had seafood, and were still open late. Our experience was terrible. I am a young disabled woman. I have a few condition including some hearing issues and some mobility impairments (I use a cane). We walked in and it didn't look too busy. There were 3 people sitting at tables and the bar was a little crowded. When we walked in we immediately noticed the tables were all hightops, except for one 2 seater by the door that looked more like a servers stand than a table. Wheelchair users or other people eith PoTs beware. There was no signage and no one around so we got some menus and sat at the short table. We waited around 20 minutes then set a timer for 5 minutes to see if anyone would Show. We ended up going around the block to another restaurant that was also extremely busy aersalcoholfed. After waiting around 25 minutes at the other restaurant we went back to chicken spot. The bar cleared up slightly, but the 3 tables were still there. This time the bartender was there. We asked her if we could sit at the short table and she said we could sit anywhere, just come to the bar to order. So again, wheelchair users be warned. The menu was very unclear. Apparently there was a build your own seafood boil that started at $8 for a half pound of crawfish. There were your pickings of corn, potatoes, or boiled eggs for $1.75 underneath which I thought were extras. When I placed my order she asked how many potatoes and corn I wanted, this confused me since 1. She was speaking very fast and kept saying different things 2. There was music blasting and people talking all around 3. I have never heard of a seafood boil were you get to choose the amount. After I paused for a couple of seconds confused trying to collect my thoughts to ask her to clarify she finally snapped at me and said "Its per individual piece thats build your own." I absolutely wasn't about to pay $2 per vegetable so I changed my order to a shrimp basket and she got very fed up and rude. I understand it was busy and she was probably stressed, but the way she treated me was very unnecessary. I wasn't rude to her in the slightest, just confused and trying to ask questions, yet she treated me like I was the biggest inconvenience in her life and a waste of her time. We ended up ordering two baskets which came out to $35. We got our ticket but didn't pay yet. She did offer us drinks or water, which we accepted the water. (I can't drink because I'm disabled and my boyfriend had to drive). I feel like the waters just sealed the deal that we "weren't worth her time". We probably waited close to half an hour, and about 10 minutes into that, one of the tables that was there before we left the first time had JUST gotten their 6 drinks and food. There was a couple who was also waiting beforehand and they went to the bar to ask, and I guess they didnt get a good answer because they also looked unhappy. There was another person who left without his food, and the waitress ran out to chase him down, and multiple food delivery people came in to pick up orders. At one point the line cook walked out the front door, and came back in 10 minutes later reeking of marijuana. The waitress was also constantly running back into the kitchen. We ended up leaving without recieving our food and got dinner at 7/11. For atmosphere there are playstations at the bar, loud music, and an instagrammable sunflower wall if you're into that. They do also have games like giant jenga and checkers (thats missing pieces) at some of the tables too. For service is you're not a doordasher or single man, and if you're not ordering alcohol don't bother. For food, we unfortunately didn't even get to try it. But for the menu, pricing, and wait, it doesn't seem worth it at all. The waitress's attitude and treatment were awful, but the problems here definitely seem like they are mostly on management. The poor setup, the understaffing, the unclear menu, etc. My take is if food delivery is interfering with the quality of your in-house customers' experience you need to hire more staff or cut down on the delivery. They really need another line cook or two, and a food/drink runner at minimum. That bartender better be making more than minimum wage because she was doing the jobs of at least 2 different people. Overall, not disabled friendly, and poorly run. Maybe its better in the day, avoid at night unless you like drinking. read more

The Food was amazing... the perfect balance of the seasoning on the seafood boil was on point, the chicken was fresh and nicely seasoned and very crispy... The pork lumpia was on point and cooked to perfection ... Our server was great , the ambiance was great and music was amazing... Definitely we will comeback to to this little gem at VB read more

If by chicken spot they mean prepackaged/premade and poorly fried chicken then sure. If by salad you mean a basket full of wilted iceburg lettuce and 3 dried out carrot sticks presented by a waitress who doesn't know what salad dressings they have Then sure ... read more

The server was very nice. The best macaroni I've had! I make my own macaroni and cheese. The fried chicken was crispy well flavored. It's the small restaurant very comfortable. I was told that they make everything in the house. So this place is the real deal. I recommend it! read more

I ordered a fish and shrimp basket. The skinny guy with dreads tells me he got me and it'll be ready in 10 mins. Comes to me 10 mins later to actually put in my order. After sitting at the bar for half hour and being told my food is coming out now 3 times, still no food. As soon as I ask for a refund, the food appears. I took the refund, left the food and walked out. The worse service ever. And these people have the nerve to include tips in every transaction. I'm sure that's the only way they'll get one. The chicken tenders & chicken sandwiches are GIANT! My favorite spot in VB to get Crawfish (usually 2-3 pounds when I go), but I get them really spicy, so make sure to let them know to make it how Mike likes it! lol. They often have DJ's on weekends, Karaoke on Thursdays, and NFL game days they have crazy specials (99¢ wings & shrimp, $3 beers & wells!) This is the spot I always recommend to out of towners. Found this lil gem while I was out for the SITW festival ! Nice halal type size unit with good low lighting but a great vibe ! The staff was nice and super cute (the wyd always a plus am I right ) ? Lol food could be a tad more quicker in the come out but due to size I don't think their kitchen allows them to cook multiple things for large parties so I'll let it slide. Now can't leave this review without taking about the drinks ..... BE PREPARED BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT BE DD , does that put emphasis on how good they are ? Lol definitely have to slide by and see it for yourself ! read more

Food was horrible, fried chicken had the breading falling right off, fish was so salty, and I can't describe how bad the crab cakes were. The entire place reeked of pot. At first, I thought it was the clientele but the smell got worse after the only other customers left. I think it may have been the kitchen staff which would explain a lot. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE is suitable for all people but if you're in ur 20s-30s and love underground music or local talent this is the place for you!! I don't always make reviews but when I do just know they are based off of multiple attempts at a restaurant and truthful. This place has perfectly seasoned and perfectly crisp, chicken tenders,... like when I say the seasoning is on point ?!?!the bar is 21+ but is available for all to eat . modern, personable, it's not expensive... especially for chicken and seafood. There's one employee in particular who makes a great. He supports the locals. And can handle the bar all by himself like a pro.... tall, presume to be Asian, and always plays the hottest new music. I cannot remember his name for the life of me, but he is great!!! if you do get a chance to stop by this place, enjoy the ambience and take a second to write your name on the walls and chalk. but again, if you do get to catch it on a night where there is some local talent playing .. please enjoy 10/10 read more

Walking in it gives off great vibes! There is a lot to look at. Video games and queens machines to play. The music is diverse and fun. The bartenders are very welcoming and have great conversation. The menu is vast with a variety of seafood and chicken options. The service is fairly quick, as all of the food is fresh and made by the order. Generous portions and fair prices. Great cocktail menu as well and a large selection or alcohol. I've been here a few times and very consistent service. The night scene here is also fun with their dj's in the weekend especially. I thoroughly enjoy this place and highly recommend for a good eat and a good time. read more

Food was very delicious, my boyfriend got fish and I got the tenders. Literally amazing food, but the service was just not it Our server was not worried about us at all, our food took forever to come out. Once it came out, I don't think she checked on us a single time. We were done with our food waiting for her to come so we could ask for a box and check, she didn't come for a solid 15-20 minutes and mind you we were the only people in the restaurant. We had to go to the bar to ask for our check and box. It seems that they want to be just a bar, which is fine but don't advertise as a restaurant.
