Shady as freakin' hell!
Just bought a car from DC motors.
When salesman and I first spoke, we haggled back and forth for a day, starting at one price, then he said $3,000 up would make the deal. I took him at that price and yelled "DEAL!"
Throughout that day, while exchanging information prior to purchase, the price went up an additional $1,000 bucks. 'What the frell' I thought... Somehow we went back into negotiations; weird, but we agreed again at a slightly higher price and I mentioned that if it were to go up another dime I'm walking.
The following morning he tells me to bring in cashiers checks, cash and the rest was to be financed.
Walk in, drive the car, make the exchange, sign the papers and I drive off the lot as a happy consumer.
Nearly a whole month, over three weeks goes by, when I receive a call from my salesman. This is on a Saturday while I'm at my niece's fifth birthday party. He calls to tell me that he didn't get paid enough.
I informed him that I paid as he requested, in full detail and that I wouldn't be able to fully answer that because I didn't have the paperwork, including it's an inopportune time to be calling. He said that I need to call him back on Sunday.
Now, a month after purchase, it's a Sunday. In a few hours, nearly a dozen missed phone calls, including a handful of texts later from from the salesman, I'm finally able to go through the paperwork. I sent him a text, since that was his method of communication, stating that I have the paperwork showing that I paid the amount requested in cash/cashier's check, as total is clearly displayed in 'Cash' toward deposit.
He disputed this and continues that I owe him cash, as soon as possible. Creepy!!!
Since then I have received threatening texts from the salesman stating that he doesn't want to be a 'real problem' and "If you want to go there, I am ready"!
Even CREEPIER!!!
These guys are CON ARTISTS!!! STAY THE HECK AWAY!!! There appears to be a severe lack of etiquette and professionalism from this group.
Update:
The 'several' attempts of resolving this has been a single e-mail from Ramirez, owner, starting out in a passive aggressive context. "I would like to get to the bottom of this situation and hear about your side of the story..." Followed up with "...I will have to seek legal resources to help close out the deal, which I wish not to do going forward. I have an extra key for your vehicle here at the office that I would like to get into your possession." End of e-mail.
Blatant extortion. The key was supposed to be mailed along with a piece of interior trim, that was broken, as soon as the piece was delivered. Neither of which I received being nearly two months after sale of car. So, cash is missing, and the salesman/dealership has an extra key to my car; I do not feel safe for my property.
I kindly responded with a certified letter to Ramirez, explaining "I failed to understand how an accounting or mismanagement from the dealership becomes the consumers responsibility" and "Due to the nature of the dialogue that has existed so far I would have expected a letter outlining this scenario, conflicts with my account and/or paperwork." "A letter would definitely be an attempt at professionalism."
This is the last I heard from the dealership.
I guess if you like playing hardball for a car, including having to remove a transmission weeks after the car was purchased to replace a bearing, be bombarded with threatening texts from your salesman, receive passive aggressive e-mails from an owner of the dealership followed up with possibly getting into a court battle, go to this dealership! read more
