The drink was solid. it's been a while since I have an extraordinarily crafted whiskey drink. definitely coming back! I had the wings too but started eating them before I took the pic. I wish they had alabama white bbq sauce!

I'm a creature of habit and tend to get the same things once I find something I like. I did the same at their newer, Anacostia location. The smoked wings just have that "it" factor and I alway come back for them. Don't get me wrong, the other BBQ is good as well! Get a sampler id you can't choose. The ribs and brisket are solid too. Now one thing that stands out at this location is the whiskey bar! The other location serves alcohol as well, but the whiskey bar has a different vibe. I wouldn't say better, because both locations are great places to get grab a bit and a cocktail. They make you feel welcomed and at home, and I'll be back for the wings and the love.

Oh DCity Smokehouse, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: One for the brisket, kissed by hickory haze, A tender truth wrapped in a peppered crust, Each bite a smoky promise, bold and just. Two for the ribs, like gospel in my hands, Falling from bone like time through southern sands. With sauce that sings a sweet and tangy hymn, It stains my soul and leaves me full to brim. Three for the sides that flank this sacred feast: Mac 'n' cheese rich enough to quiet beasts, Greens cooked low, and cornbread--golden prayers, A Southern table set with holy wares. Four for the smell that dances on the air, A siren song from blocks away, laid bare. It draws me in like lovers long apart, With just one whiff, it reels my longing heart. So DC Smokehouse, pitmaster divine, Your craft is scripture, and your meats are wine. This ode, this hunger, this eternal praise-- How do I love thee? In a thousand ways.

Loved the ambiance Loved the staff Food- The food not so much. I come from a KC barbecue tradition as a lover of barbecue and a cook. The food doesn't follow any classic tradition of KC, Memphis, North Carolina, Texas, or any traditional barbecue taste palate I could determine. The collards were too sweet; the Mac and cheese was too spicy and I have no idea what was going on with the beans they appeared to be kidney beans? The brisket and ends were cooked and sticky with a sweet molasses type sauce, but I couldn't discern any traditional pink ring or smoke.

If you're looking for a quick, good quality place for food, check them out! My friend recommended it to me and normally, I really don't enjoy smoked foods, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I tried the smoked wings. They were so tasty. Just juicy and flavorful! The sauces that came with were just as good. The one thing I will say is that the fries seemed like they could have been cooked a bit longer.

Come sit next to me real quick foodie family. Let me tell you about this place. I've been smelling their smoke in the air whenever I'm in that area for a couple few years now. For those of you who follow me know I'm from Chi-town - arguably the best foodie city in the country, if not the world. *winks* Like our pizza, we take our barbecue SERIOUSLY and there are rib joints literally all over the city. Needless to say, that ain't DC. The DMV in general suffers significantly from a lack of even decent BBQ spots, forget about good ones. Other than 250 BBQ (and that "dino" rib) and one or two others there really aren't any places that I would recommend - until today. A partner I work with wanted me to meet the owner to talk a little business so I decided to stop in and check out the food, you know killed two birds sort of thing. He wasn't there, but I still decided to try the food. Had a good conversation and laughed and joked with his nephew and a couple of the guys there behind the counter... Who of course were talking smack because they claim to be quite familiar with the Chicago BBQ tradition. They even sell rib tips here... Another of our BBQ traditions. Immediately felt dubious at their bravado though, lol. Then they let me taste the beef rib. Smokey fatty well seasoned deliciousness. Took two fat boys to go. I also ordered some pork spare ribs to go. They let me taste the collard greens (I told him they had waaaaaay too much sugar in them but otherwise seasoned). Tasted like Christmas candy. They also let me taste some jalapeno grits. Super well seasoned and creamy like they put Philly cheam cheese or crème fraiche in them (they wouldn't tell me what they actually put in them, lol). Super unctuous... And you can see the bits of jalapeno in every other spoonful. Very nice interpretation. Speaking of spicy, these spare ribs are dry rubbed (which I love) and smoked for 4 hours (they said). In their seasoning there's something hot because these Jokers are spicy!! Yep there's a **kick** in them there ribs... That may just kick YOU in the ribs if you're not careful. My tongue was definitely tingling. Sauce served on the side. The ribs are soft enough to slide off the bone although there's a little bit of resistance so I think they're smoked perfectly. The ambiance is comfortable, the service is warm and friendly and this is a good spot to go for some good barbecue in DC for a change. Parking is MLK packed as usual so be mindful.

Food delish!!! Rib tips and collards will have me sleeping good. Spicy collards have a lil heat but nothing to ruin the meal.

We got this for lunch Togo the other day. It was good. The wings are huge but taste good. The ribs were really good. I also got the Mac n cheese it wasn't my thing but I'm used to traditional Mac n cheese. I will order from here again when I'm in the area.

I got the BBQ sampler platter that included rib tips, brisket, spicy greens and bbq beans. I also got a side of pulled pork. The rib tips and brisket were DRY and FLAVORLESS. I've never had rib tips served that way. When I checked my order I told the lady she gave me turkey by mistake! The brisket was pale! Smh The spicy greens had no spice and had a hint of a sour taste. The beans were overcooked and again lacked flavor. The pulled pork was ok but also could stand some seasoning.

I really enjoyed the ambience of this place and the vibe. They had some high table seating and TVs in there. The people working in the counter were super friendly and very helpful with the menu. I cannot wait to get home because the place smelled amazing. FYI, if you don't want to smell like Smokey barbecue, you should probably order pick up. I ordered the rib and wings combo. It was about 24 bucks or so. Everything tasted amazing and the barbecue sauce made it a little bit spicy even. I loved it! I highly suggest going here. Some people told me to cautious going into the Anacostia area, but I really didn't have any issues while I was there.

Ordered briquet--it was dry, no pink center. This would be chopped up to season beans in Texas.

I don't typically eat beef, but every now and then I see a good-looking burger and all bets are off. Ivy City Smokehouse had a double-patty cheeseburger topped with cabbage salad and Russian dressing, served with fries. I'm not usually a Russian dressing girl, so I skipped it and went with good old ketchup instead. Y'all... this burger was SO GOOD. And HUGE! The fries were hot, crispy, and really good too, but I only ate a few because I was absolutely determined to finish that entire burger. Mission accomplished. The restaurant itself is pretty large with both indoor and outdoor seating. Since there was a party happening, there weren't many tables set up for dining, but we managed to snag one. The lines were long and food took a little while since everyone had to order both drinks and food through the bar, but the staff handled the crowd really well. They remained patient and attentive, and whether we needed ketchup, salt, pepper, or extra napkins, they made it happen. Usually the camera eats first, but I was so hungry that I jumped right in before even thinking about a picture. I've lived nearby for years and somehow never made it to Ivy City Smokehouse, but after that burger? I'll definitely be back!
