Good menu selection - both food & drinks - and staff was friendly. Cute interior with tables to sit and eat/work/study/catch up with someone. Coffee and food were tasty but it took over 30 minutes to get a breakfast sandwich. Everyone in the restaurant was getting impatient waiting on food.

We woke up exhausted and craving a coffee spot, so I placed a pickup order at Deer Creek. We'd never tried this place before and it piqued our interest. We ordered 2 coffees, a breakfast sandwich, and a lox bagel. The best items were my Iced Caramel Coconut Coffee, and the Lox on Asiago Bagel. Both were decent. On the other end, my Mom's BYO Breakfast Sandwich was quite burnt and the eggs tasted powdered. She also wasn't a fan of her Mocha. Mediocre experience at best, but definitely a fan of the Caramel Coconut Coffee. Not sure if I'd come back.

I hadn't been here in several years, which is why when I was meeting a friend I suggested we meet here. There was lots of seating. None of it was siftseat8ng for chatting, but there were plenty of tables for eating or working. I had the spirt iced tea, a flavorful tea that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also had a bite to eat and a mocha, both of which I also enjoyed. I will definitely return.

Our first time here. Looks can be deceiving because the outside looks a little sketchy. It is actually quite quaint on the inside with lots of seating. The menu written colorfully on the walls and has a lot of options. Service was great, everyone was friendly. I got an iced chai latte, it was perfect. Wish I would have gotten a bigger size. My daughter got the aloha pineapple smoothie, she loved it. For food I got the avocado toast. It is just that, don't think there was any seasoning. I'm glad we got pepper in the plasticware. It was good, just very basic. My daughter got the fruitella crape. It was very rich and delicious. We were looking for a quick bite to eat and a beverage, mission accomplished.

Deer Creek Coffee is a lovely local spot to grab a cup of coffee. Heads up, their parking lot is very small so you might need to park next door. Once inside the shop, they have a large counter to order from and plenty of seating to choose from. They have a section in the shop with cards and they're very unique! I'd check them out and see if you need one for your next party/holiday. The staff I engaged with were quite friendly and conversational. I ordered my coffee to go on this visit and it came out fast, hot and delicious which is really all you could want. I would come again--next time to try their pastry/bakery items.

What a cool spot to visit! I thoroughly enjoyed my food and the iced coffee I ordered. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and there are many decorations around the cafe.

Amazing coffee, the vibes were SO cute, and staff couldn't have been nicer. I wish I lived here to go back again and again!

Gluten free bagels here Had the litzinger on the bagel-so good! Service was great - everyone is down to earth and friendly! We met family there to exchange some presents for the holiday. It wasn't too loud and we were able to relax and enjoy each others' company for a while. We got the pizza, bagel and lox, and the kid's PB&J also and they were all pretty good as well. My husband loved the cold brew! Would definitely come back.

    Thai Chicken Salad

I love my coffees and chais that I get here as usual, but the food was subpar. I got their Thai Chicken Salad which should come with shredded carrots, edamame, peanuts, chicken, and their dressing. I got a bit of chicken diced carrot sticks and dressing. If you were out of the other ingredients that's fine, but tell your customer so I can order something else instead of paying nearly $20 for a salad where half of the ingredients aren't there. I would've happily ordered something else.

It's located on a busy street in Clayton, so people watching is available. Being used to ordering at Starbucks, I was uncertain how to approach this, so I told the employee I was trying to adjust and he was so kind and helpful. I went with a Hot Macchiato with Caramel and Mocha, 2% Milk and a small Chicken Empanada. They were a bit backed up, so the wait was a little longer than I expected, but the drink was very good. I didn't even have to specify how many pumps of what to put in there, they just did it and it was perfect. The right temperature, I didn't have to wait to drink it. The empanada was piping hot, so I had to let it cool and unfortunately couldn't try it before my appt. Next time tho.

The seating host and servers we met during this experience were very nice. I ordered the mushroom coffee: forest & meadow mushroom medicinal powder, served with a shot of espresso. I received a large, hot mug of beverage with artistic crema decor. Could not discern mushroom flavor save the grit at the bottom of the cup, but I can now say I've tried it. My eggs and salad dish came out next, along with an order of their toasted sourdough bread, butter and jam I ordered (their specialty). Unfortunately, the toast was cold, as was the liquidy fruit jam. Butter was ice cold out of the frig too since it has been forgotten and needed to be retrieved. The small green salad was fresh and tasty, but the two scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery. It was hard to know who was out server because aside from the seating hostess, four more people arrived, one after the other, at varying times to get the meal and forgotten items to our small party of three. I was left feeling that more training and organized timing of meals is needed at this establishment.

Eventually, I'd run out of money and be forced to live out of doors, perhaps in a tent in the park across the street. It would almost be worth it. Kentzo Koffee is not without its flaws, but it's a good place to have a coffee ("koffee") and a light breakfast. It's not clear to me how long it's been around, but it's possible they have a few issues that just need ironing out. A guy from my running group who lives nearby was running down the litany of businesses that have been in this space. Is this location cursed? Was a Native American killed there? This is no fault of Kentzo, but there was some confusion as to whether the breakfast bowl comes with eggs. I could have sworn that it doesn't and that the menu made this clear, but a few members of my group, who are girls with whom I'm not inclined to outwardly disagree, insisted that it does. It seems like it should anyway, right? What's a breakfast bowl without eggs? You could just as easily have such a bowl for lunch. That's unacceptable. This place had umpteen baristas, including one dressed like she was working for tips in a place frequented by bikers (she looked amazing), but they were barely keeping up with orders. This was fine with me. I didn't have anywhere to be, and my drink--an iced vanilla latte, natch--was good when it finally came out. But this is not the kind of place to stop and grab a quick drink on your way to work. There was only one guy making food, as far as I can tell, and he was on it. He made my Breakfast Bowl w/ Bacon and brought it out before I got my drink. He warned me that the bowl was hot, but he was holding it with his bare hand. He must think that I'm actually *from* Maplewood. I had to have the girl who handed me my drink fetch my cinnamon roll. Were they supposed to hand it to me when I ordered? Were they hoping I'd just forget? The cinnamon roll was cold, like maybe it sat in a refrigerator overnight. It occurred to me that it almost certainly wasn't made that day, but it didn't seem particularly stale or prepackaged. It cost more than I paid for most meals in the pre-Brandon era, and it occurred to me that they could just give you a bit less, not charge as much, and I'd be fine with that. Did I devour the whole thing in a few bites anyway, like I just got out of jail? Yes. Yes, I did.

Some place where I could print off copies of my zine about protecting the environment by committing minor acts of terrorism in America's forests? Turns out, it's a place where you can listen to truly random vinyl records while eating burritos entirely too good to be available in Clayton. Nothing about the latter says this part of town except for the price, which is almost like someone's cruel idea of a joke. I'd suggest that they're the best breakfast burritos available anywhere in the area, but what do I know? I've been eating breakfast burritos since the Reagan administration, when they were invented (as far as I know), but mostly of the microwavable variety. They have the potential to be the best food possible, because they combine the two other best foods, breakfast sandwiches and Mexican food, but no one seems to put any real effort into them. They're less likely than their lunch/dinner counterpart to cause gastrointestinal distress. People suspect that the reason Chipotle gives you the runs roughly every third time you visit is because of the cilantro, which is impossible to wash, but I heard it's really the lettuce. Never get lettuce on a burrito from Chipotle. If you're getting one of those bowls, why are you even going to Chipotle? You're probably already fat, and not eating a tortilla is not going to make a difference. But I digress. Upshot is primarily a coffee shop, and I think it's generally well regarded as far as that's concerned, though I'm no expert. I drink a nice, stiff six cups or so of whatever's on sale first thing in the morning and it usually ends up being the highlight of my day. I don't need any coffee in addition to that. I might get nervous. I've had luck lately with the seasonal selections at other local coffee shops that I've visited, so I figured I'd take my chances with an iced strawberry matcha latte. It seemed like it would be nice and refreshing after getting in a few miles with the homies, and damn it if it didn't hit the spot. You could see the actual seeds in it from where they must have crushed up an actual strawberry to make it, thus justifying the price, at least as far as they're concerned. They spared no expense with the burrito either. It's filled with surprisingly large chunks of bacon and avocado. Can they afford to give you more bacon because they don't cook it to the point where it starts to shrink? I like it when it's still kinda chewy, but I'm sure many would beg to differ. That must be how bacon is served in Clayton. They don't have the lovable old James bring it out to you, but I can understand, with this being 2026. It's not the lengthiest tortilla in the world, but it's stuffed to nearly overflowing with eggs, cheese, potatoes and what have you. I'd suggest bringing a date just to see if she could wrap her lips around it, but who's got that kind of money? It would have to be someone you've already been out with a few times, who's with the program, so to speak.
