It's a discount store so I don't expect to be wowed. Found some good stuff like a shower curtain liner and a much needed step stool. The line upon checkout was normally one I would have skipped (10 people at least), but I really needed both of my items so I endured. The cashier didn't hand us our receipt (which is needed to exit the store) so we had to wait an additional 5+ minutes. I was actually okay with that because loss prevention was super nice and easy to talk to, but the cashier was upset with us for some reason and mentioned that he has been there for two years and has never forgotten. I didn't take a big issue with it, because if the receipt can be reprinted, so no big deal--but the entire interaction was off putting and weird. read more

Alright, I have not been in a DD's discount store in awhile. Several valid reasons come into play for avoiding this place. I stopped by on Friday, 2/4/22 around 2 pm. I just wanted to see what kind of selection was available. The surprise was that they had a better selection over my local Ross in Santa Clara. They actually had merchandise, and, to add, better quality than last time. Wow. My previous 2007 description: "The clothes really looked like disposable hooker trash and the appliances looked like bargain basement closeouts from Ross." That's really funny. Considering that Ross has had such a scant selection of goods as of late, I think I've changed my mind. Okay, it's fine for now. But, yeah, if I get a stainless steel coffee mug that rusts after the second use, OR I go shopping with a friend, and the manager yells at her or me for having a bottle of water in the store, that little bit of love will be eviscerated. Came here on a Friday evening. Surprisingly, there was a long line at the registers. I did not purchase anything; the quality of the items they sell did not appear nice at all. Items are low cost for the most part. Some of the things that were on the shelves, the packaging was damaged. The store reminded me of Ross in terms of set up of the various departments. As far as clothing, the store did not appear to have fashionable offerings. I didn't look hard, but it didn't seem like they offered clothing from well known clothing companies. That goes the same for makeup as well. I would rather go to a Ross than shop at dd's. read more

Love, love, love awesome deals and at dd's I find so many! I recently 'discovered' the younger sister of Ross at another location and could not resist to stop by the one in Sunnyvale and compare. Well, both are great, especially if you know what exactly you want and how to look for it. I am into cheap yet nicely crafted outdoors/fitness apparel. I got 3 super cool yoga style pants very soft, sexy, comfy and funky (check the pics, the one with graffiti style and zippers to nowhere with a touch of glam, as bling bling is conveniently added). Each of those yoga pants for $3.99, what a mega deal. I was so ecstatic I could not resist my selfietemptation at the dressing room, instantly Instagramming my discoveries to the entire world. Undies, undies, undies, you cannot get enough of them. They have a enormous variety of colors, styles and shapes. Got also a very cute floral mini skirt for those summer sunsets for $4. DD Discounts chain of stores is one of those hidden gems that I've just discovered completely by accident. While its more well-known clothing discount counterparts like Marshalls, Ross & TJ Maxx are more visible & known, DD Discounts, in my experience, offers better finds & VALUE! Yesterday I just went in and looking for some skinny jeans, and I came across a few, my waist sizes of 31-32 and 30 lengths are hard to find, they fly out the windows quickly. I found one authentic Levi's 501 (original price tag $89.99) selling for $14.99, OMG! I also found a slew of pots and pans, personal hygiene products from moisturizers, body wash, shampoos, etc all at better prices than Target & Wal-Mart. Of course, the flip side is customer service is below par. In fact, at times, downright rude, but that's almost pretty much the rule & expectation at discount stores. As long as you go in, do your treasure hunt, pay & get out, I think it's pretty cool! read more

9/2/07 update The bra and panty section is a mess, sizing is minimal and items barelyon hangers, many on the floor. The clothing sections are pretty well marked and sized and tidy. Fitting room limit are 5 items. The housewares area is decent sized and they have a small electronics accessory area. There are security walking around and very blantant. Clearance tops, around $5, and found a cute regular top for $10. ----------------------- So, they finally have one near me in the South Bay, the nearest I found was in the East Bay and my first one was in Sacramento. They just opened in March, so shop now, it is still neat and clean, the other stores are a mess. This is a division of Ross Dress for Less, marketing to the $30-40K income crowd of shoppers. The clothes are cheap...in more ways then one! Women's tops from $5-$20, don't expect them to be the latest fashion or made to last but a great place to get bargains on some clothes you will wear for a season and then give to the Goodwill. After read many reviews about the store has bad customer service, I am so agree. Here is my story. Very confusing return policy at El camino Real. I bought the food containers and returned same day because it was broken after I removed the plastic cover when I got home. Johnny who is the manager of the store told me I can not return at his store, it have to be return at the same store where I bought them (He was raising his voice and didn't care how customers feel). And I called to talked to another lady manager told me that I should have check everything well before I purchase, and she said the cashier who helped me should be responsible for that. So I went back to that same store, they told me that I can return to any dd' stores if I still have my receipt. I also called different stores to make sure that was true. Nothing was arranged by size, and when you went to check out, the return section branched off from the regular line. Thus if you had a return you had to wait through the regular purchase line. Gah. Their items also have security tags all over them, which make them almost impossible to try on. Apparently you can go to the front to have it removed, but really? Who the heck has the time for that? This place looks just like Ross inside. I wonder if its affiliated. They take EBT here!!! I thought EBT was only for food. It's like Ross in here but less messy. I didn't really browse but they seem to have a lot of good stuff. They have clothes, shoes, housing goods, and pretty much the stuff that Ross sells lol. I was quite surprised at their selections because they actually have good stuff. I found lots of good stuff in the baby section that I would have bought for my kid when she was a newborn. DD's is a lot like Ross, in regards to the layout of the store, the available items, the prices, and even how they have their registers set up. As a person on a very limited budget who appreciates a good deal, I'm all for DD's. I needed nurse scrubs for work within a couple days and was surprised by the lack of uniform stores in the area. I guess a lot of people buy online now, but I just didn't have time to wait for shipping. The selection of scrubs at DD's is decent. A lot of variety, from solid print to seasonal to patterned; pants, tops, and a few light nursing coats. They carry from size XS to 6X, though the most variety is medium and large. I was able to find two scrub tops and two pair of cozy pants for $8.99 each piece. Not too shabby. The selection of women's size 11 shoes is lacking, aside from the knee-high heels they had, which wouldn't work well in a hospital environment. But I did find a pair of comfy (new) slippers for $5.00. There are also kids and men's clothing, household goods, apparel accessories, hygiene products, and some food items. Naturally, the vixens strategically place shelves of sweets and snacks along the checkout lines, to tempt us during the long wait. This review is primarily for the store manager herself, Yadera (I'll confirm the spelling). For the multiple times I've shopped here, I have been greeted with a genuine smile, a warm greeting of excitement and probably the biggest heart an employee (store manager rather) has ever shown. I've noticed majority of her staff have been there a while - which we all know generally means management is considered in that factoring. I give so much respect to her, as I've witnessed this store filled with chaos, rude customers and even a fight break out. BUT Yadera still, to this day, remains in charge - tackling this store and making it all the more sensational. Granted, the store is VERY busy (always a line when I'm there), there's a ton of things happening all at once - it's not perfect. But they are blessed as a company to have an asset like her. Deeply Disappointing Discounts OR Diabolical Deals [and] Discounts? Way, cheaper than Ross (it is part of the Ross family) or other discount merchants out there, although a similar selection of items but for often lower-end brands. This is the place to come if you are looking for some cheap, throw away tanks or to replace a glassware set (that you don't mind breaking) for single digits. Last time I was here, I bought a 90-something piece serving set for less than $10. MORAL of this TALE: can a bargain be found here? YES. Resounding yes. Is it worth your time? Maybe. No. Maybe - well, yes, if you have some serious shopping to do and are otherwise unencumbered. On occasion, I forget that I don't like this place for personal reasons. Then, I happen to be in the shopping center running errands, decide to drop in and remember all over again. Just stepping foot into the store can make me feel like a bit of a sad sack. The lighting is harsh and the very prominent security is a bit off-putting. Shelves are in disarray. Regardless of the time of day, the lines are always long. The cashiers are always hard at work but they're often understaffed for the amount of traffic that goes through the store. The staff does what they can, but always seem a bit stressed - but maybe I'm projecting? Essentially, my emotional reaction boils down to my first visit here roughly a year ago. I had recently moved and had to stock my apt with some goodies (note the serving set mentioned above). Now, at the time, I was still recovering from a hard-core leg fracture and found myself tooling about the store while wearing a big-@$$ leg brace (which I still lovingly refer to as a moon boot) and using a shopping cart as a walker. I limped along, tossing bargain upon bargain in my cart and then waited in a nearly 30 minute line to check out. After making my purchases, I was shocked to find out that the shopping carts weren't allowed out of the store. This would prove to be an issue as although I was able to hop from my car to the store, empty handed, I wouldn't be able to make the return trip while carrying items. Apologetically, I asked one of the cashiers if I could get some assistance. She rather bluntly denied my request (I think she didn't notice my brace) and suggested that instead I leave my items where they were, *park in the handicapped zone* in front of the store, and just make multiple trips back and forth. Unbeknownst to her, I had spent that entire summer fighting with a variety of douches illegally parked in handicapped (it's not a loading zone, jack@$$!) spaces. And so, my normally uber-low blood pressure skyrocketed at the mere (unseemly) suggestion. I uncharacteristically lost my cool and responded: "Yeah... I DON'T think SO, cupcake. If you haven't noticed [pointing down toward the moon boot and accentuated with a click of my tongue], I'm already parked there." I then turned to the security guard and told him he was coming with me. Which he did. I think he was too shocked to do otherwise. He loaded my purchases into my car and I thanked him profusely for his efforts. So, for me, this will always be Deeply Disappointing Discounts (unless I forget and am then quickly reminded). Maybe that's because I'm a little embarrassed at having been rude to the staff (I despise rudeness, even in myself!). Maybe it's because I feel like I don't have the time to wait around in their lines. Maybe it's because I just find the store a lil' icky...but feel free to try to strike bargain gold here on your own. It can be done. read more

I love DD's but the biggest problem for me is the wait to pay. I mean shit, the line is always HELLA LONG. There's only like 3 registers and usually 2 of them are closed and it doesn't help thatthe cashiers take their fucken time!!!! Yeah, like we have all day to look at yo fucked up ass eyebrows and long ass finger nails...Hoes!!! The longest I've waited is like an hour to pay. Since then, what I do is, right before I get in line, I check to see how long the line is. If it's not that bad I'll pay but if it's the slightest bit long, I'll just leave, I hate waiting!!! Well, they have some really cool stuff and it's really cheap but you have to look around carefully, though. It isn't easy to find stuff. I went here today on the premise of finding good deals on some amazing outfits. My friend had been ranting and raving about this place a few days ago... wow, was I disappointed. at first glance, upon entering...there was a glimmer of hope. They have a huge selection of bags, and immediately you can see the 'juniors' racks of clothes. I jumped in...and after skimming through a dozen shirts and tops, I realized that I wasn't going to find anything of good quality. Everyone got it right on the nail: Hooker wear at it's best. after perusing the sweater aisle, or lack thereof, I decided to turn my attention to the kitchen wares. I was determined to find something at a steal. Cheap,Cheap Cheap in every sense of the word. I have a better chance of finding something of better quality at the goodwill down the street. I finally decided, reluctantly, that I would at least try on a green sweater that I thought was cute. I took my "Maybe" along with a few other items and made my way to the fitting room. I had 7 items, I put two on the rack outside and told the girl I had 5. Which is the limit for the dressing rooms. She looked at me with some doubt, and counted my items out loud while shifting them in my hand. WOW. you actually think I'm trying to steal from HERE?!?!? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not one to steal, but If I had the chance, it would be at Anthropologie or a Nordstrom's even...not DD's. Needless to say, I was a little rude. I noticed this store on my way to Longs Drugs. I had hear the name before but wasn't sure what they had. After walking in, the crazy lines and the screaming kids, I almost walked out. I decided to walk around since I was already there, It reminded me of a ghetto Ross. I walked by the home section and was glad I did. I found a 10pc drinking glass set for only $5.49. Yup, what a deal. The wait in line was a pain but the glasses were worth it. The chances of going again are slim but if I do, I wont go in the evening. read more

This dd's was alright, definitely not the best or the worst. It was kinda messy in the shoe area when I visited so that was an inconvenience. I didn't really find any clothes I liked, but I did find a cute make up carrier. Unfortunately it was sealed with a security tag so I couldn't see what it looked inside. I lined up for check out to see if they could open it so I could see what the inside looked like, and the line got pretty long. By the time I got to the register I decided to buy it because I wasn't going to put it back or wait all over again. Let's look at the checklist: Rows and rows of racks that make that screeching sound when you move one of the hangers - check! Glaring lighting - check! Long lines at check out - check! Plan carefully since everything is from at least last season and may be too warm or not warm enough for your baby to wear currently. The merchandise is majorly picked over. The women's wallets, for example, have marks from fingernails and some even have mild damage from being roughly handled by so many shoppers. I shop here for myself, not for gifts for others, because the merchandise doesn't look totally new (even though it is new) from being handled by so many people. The scarves are frayed from so many people trying them on. Their bath towels are cheaper than those at Ross.Good selection of bed sheets and bath rugs. The kitchen items are lacking (no timers, colanders,dish brushes - or maybe they are always sold out). Even though there is a sign asking people not to open boxed merchandise, many shoppers just don't care. The plus side is the clerks make sure the lines are moving quickly. What a horrible experience. When me and my family went to pay for 2 cute dresses I asked 2 questions. The questions are a discount since there is a grease stain and if I can put it on hold. When I asked this lady didn't know and asked her coworker. The coworker gave me attitude and said no we don't do holds. But if you want I can Only place holds for only 30 minuets. Then I showed the cashier the grease stain and when I did the lady told me that there's no stain on the dress. The stain is a grease mark you can't see it unless you look at in an angle. My whole family saw the stain. Then she took the dress showed it to her supervisor who was the same lady that gave me attitude when asking about putting these dress on hold. The supervisor has no damn manners and she has zero customer service. She grab the dress when I was showing it to her and raise her voice saying there's no stain so no discount. Then she starts arguing with me about the stain and she toss the dress back on the counter and walk off. I asked the lady who was the cashier to let me speak with someone who is higher. The store manager came named Ken I explain to him what the fuck happen. I showed him the dress that has the stain and he said ok ok. I explain to him about the dress that has the stain and been offered 5% off which at this point I don't care. But what I do care about is the customer service that you guys are providing and what your damn supervisor just did to me to be honest I dont even feel comfortable coming here because of her and her damn attitude. He then told me sorry I'll talk with her and then said I can give you a better discount.
