Stumbled on this place and drove all the way from camas for terrible service. Sat down in bar and waited for 15 min. Waitress was too busy to get even our drink order- she walked around all the tables and then proceeded to clean a dirty table when there are plenty of open tables and no wait. I guess this place just re-opened. The service and the food was great. The waiter explained that the actress were meant to be shared or that everything is served family style, so for 2 people they would generally advise 3 dishes. We ordered 4 because we wanted to try other things but there was plenty for another person. We stopped here for dinner on the way home from IKEA on a Monday night. It is part of the Hotel, but a lot more classy than the hotels exterior. The food and service was great! We ordered the Gaucho bread, Bavette Steak, and Mussels in a spicy broth. The food was amazing and totally better than we expected, based on the hotel exterior. Our server was great without being pushy and hovering. The music was Loud making it very difficult to have a conversation without feeling like we were yelling at each other. We were not in the mood for bread and butter but this was about the only option. This is not a keto or diabetic friendly choices. I went to de Fuego last night for a birthday dinner with friends and ordered a Bird of Paradise drink and a cheese pizza (not on the menu but they were happy to accommodate my request!) and both were delicious. We went to the main restaurant and the vibes were good! Our waitress was attentive even though she had quite a few tables. It was pretty loud and crowded in the top section (seats close together) but our food came out fast and tasted great. If you do order drinks here, they come out pretty strong! I wouldn't say it's a family environment, but it was fun for a birthday dinner. I would come back for the ambiance and food, but there are other comparable restaurants for the price :) read more

Decided to try other dishes on their weekend brunch menu; the Gaucho Plate has substantive portion! The 16 oz red chimichurri marinated skirt steak is delicious, smashed fried potatoes are yummy, the scrambled eggs and grilled tortillas are standard. Fast-forward two years, this place is no longer the "quiet" restaurant in town... it's HOPPIN' on a Thursday night. Noisy and full, felt a little too close for comfort if you're Covid-avoidant. Table of 8, business dinner, service was top notch and the Tapas kept coming! It's probably not necessary to have soooo many different steak variations. My wife and I were searching around for Latin options and found de Fuego. I had no idea there was a gem of a place like this Clackamas. We decided to eat out in the patio due to the beautiful weather. I ordered the Grumpy margarita, I wasn't a fan of the habanero but it was a good experience. The guacamole was fantastic, the pickled veggies they add with the guac was delicious. The Brazilian Salmon with risotto was cooked to perfection. The dish was creamy, succulent and dreamy. My wife ordered the tacos, they were really good as well. The visual and aesthetics of the restaurant are beautiful. Loved the patio. Staff was friendly and service was excellent. I went here with a group of friends, one is a regular. I was thoroughly impressed! It was fun! We grabbed a booth in the bar and took advantage of their happy hour from 4pm to 6pm. They have some great deals on food and drinks. Some of my faves were the mac and cheese, chimi steak, the gaucho bread (although the bone marrow bread was calling my name!), and the crispy brussels sprouts. Ok, now for the drinks. If you're a whiskey fan or a whisky fan or just an alcohol fan you'll have a very difficult time deciding on what all to get and what all to try! They have a wonderful selection ranging from the solid and affordable all the way to to the high end "I need a loan" type spirits. I honestly think my server went out of her way to try to overcharge me and that sucks. From the start she seemed visibly irritated that our reservation for 8 people ended up being a table of 5. Prior to ordering anything we gave our server a heads up that we will need 2 checks at the end. One for me and my boyfriend and then one for our 3 friends...... Before I ever even ordered a damn water this lady tried to tell me it's not possible to split the check when "large party gratuity" applies. I gestured around and pointed to the empty seats and said "There's only 5 of us, what do you mean?". Then she sort of half laughed, and agreed to split the check. Fast forward to the end of the meal and my portion of the bill was almost $200 when I only ordered $75ish worth of stuff. Some food items were double charged, once to my bill then a second time on my friends tab and then some items I didn't even order were just randomly tacked on to my bill. So many extra things were on my bill at the end that the manager had to remove stuff in two rounds because I missed a few of the extra items the first time. Additionally, the one food item I sent back to the kitchen, that I was proactively told wouldn't be on my bill, was also on my bill. I don't know if my server thought I was dumb or drunk or what the deal was but I've never had splitting a check become such an extreme point of contention and I've never had so many "mistakes" on a dinner tab. I know I'm really going in on this but in retrospect, none of this sits well with me...... Making matters worse, our server didn't write anything down, she got some drink orders wrong and she forgot items that we repeatedly asked for and then she just gave up and abandoned our table completely about halfway through dinner. We had to wait a really really long time to flag down another server to get boxes, couldn't get drink refills and had to get up and ask the hostess if someone could print our check because we had waited so long. Overwhelmingly, poor customer service made this a one star experience and I wanted to share what happened in hopes that it doesn't happen to someone else. Despite all my whining above, there were elements of the food that were good and I thought the restaurant interior & lighting was really cute too. This could totally be a good date night spot but I'm not sure I ever really want to come back here.... Service = 0/5 stars Food = 3/5 stars PICADILLO EMPANADAS = 2/5 stars, this straight up tasted like taco bell and was underwhelming. BONE MARROW BREAD = 4/5 stars, generally tasty. The bread was equal parts perfectly crunchy and soft. CRISPY BRUSSELS = 2.5/5 stars, middle of the road could have used some seasoning or even just some salt. Mostly comprised of the burnt outer leaves and lacking in actual brussel sprouts. de FUEGO MAC = 5/5 stars, this was the highlight of my entire meal. Not only did this taste amazing, but the presentation was super pretty. PATATAS A LA CREMA = 1/5 stars, everyone else at my table enjoyed this but I thought the potatoes tasted like they had been boiled in a mixture of dirt and water. Really weird after taste, kind of like a canned potato. Hard to describe. CHIMICHURRI CORN RISOTTO = 0/5 stars, simultaneously offensive to risotto and corn. 3 people at my table got this item and no one was happy with it. Seriously lacking in corn and was ultimately not a risotto - just mushy rice. Not good at all. BRAZILIAN SALMON = 0/5 stars, I sent this one back to the kitchen. It smelled putrid and didn't taste good to me at all.... Plus it was sitting on a bed of the mushy rice outlined above. One of my friends ordered the same thing and they thought it was edible but agreed it smelled bad. Also the two portions of fish were wildly different. My piece of fish was 3 times bigger than my friends and I felt bad because his was so tiny. SMOKED BURGER = 5/5 stars, 2 people at our table ordered this and they absolutely loved it. I didn't personally try it but I believe them. It looked good! LOMO SALTADO = 4/5 stars, solid & tasted pretty good. Much larger portion than expected. read more

It was our 1st visit and we went to HH. The food was excellent. Very tasty. However we sat down and the cocktail server took our drink order. She said someone would be over to get our order. We waited 30 min before my husband went to bar to ask when someone would take our order. I had no idea that this wonderful restaurant was tucked inside the Monarch Hotel. Nice! I brunched with a couple friends here for Sunday Brunch. The parking lot is massive so don't worry about parking. The restaurant is very warm and inviting, I would say it would be better environment in the winter. There is a nice fireplace that wasn't on. This place is described as a South American Texas grille. Sounds good! After eating here I agree. We had a reservation and were seated promptly inside. There is also outdoor seating in the summer. They have a wonderful menu. I ordered the "Steak & Eggs". It included marinated bavette, smashed crispy fingerlings, over easy eggs, chimichurri, criolla, brioche toast. Sounds delicious! It didn't take long for the food to arrive because they were not super busy yet on a Sunday at 10 AM but it was busy by the time we left. Tonight was our first time here and I already can't wait to go back. What a fantastic dinner! We started with a lavender mojito and the grumpy margarita (spicy) and we both really liked what we got. Our server Thai was excellent, attentive, and gave great recommendations and explanations of the food. He made the whole experience even more enjoyable. First course we tried the empanadas - yummy and served with a smoked ancho aioli. Then the beef cheek humitas, which were almost like deconstructed tamales. That might have been my top favorite dish tonight and we scarfed them down before I could take a pic. There were a few other tapas we hoped to try but they were out of, so we'll have to catch those next time! It was impossible to narrow down which entrees to get so we ordered three haha. The Argentine Asado had andouille sausage, bavette steak, beef short ribs, fried potatoes and variety of sauces. The Lomo Saltado also had bavette steak with rice, pickled veggies and sauces, on top of the most delicious crispy battered French fries. And the Brazilian salmon melts in your mouth on top of a creamy chimichurri risotto. Every meat was cooked perfectly and I can't even pick a favorite. Lastly a lemon mascarpone cake with berry compote finished our meal and that was sooo good. We left incredibly full, incredibly satisfied, and with lots of leftovers to enjoy. We live about 45 mins away but that will not deter us from returning soon, and hopefully with a few more people to help us try an even bigger variety! First of all they deserve my 5 star review just for getting the cook on the burger correct the FIRST time. I'm in town on a work trip and decided to try this place out for dinner. It was open seating so with the beautiful weather out today I picked a seat on their patio. Not only was the place beautiful, but the staff was super helpful and friendly (especially since I had no idea where I was going). Since I made it in time for happy hour I ordered off their happy hour menu and got a burger, fries, and a grumpy margarita. Thanks to Covid, it has been 403 days since I last ate at a restaurant, so you can imagine my excitement to try de Fuego's private dining option. What a genius idea to utilize empty hotel rooms for a private meal experience! I hope this continues post-Covid, because it's a lovely way to have a private dinner party with peace of mind, quiet, and excellent service. For my birthday my husband and I dined with another couple, so we were able to try lots of different items. They're ranked here favorite to least. 1. Mushroom risotto (side) - creamy and rich, just as a risotto should be. Didn't taste much mushroom 2. Patatas a la crema (side) - smashed and fried fingerlings 3. Babette Steak (entree) - perfectly cooked to medium request, served with a refreshing arugula salad to cut the richness 4. Chili lime broccolini (side)- grilled for perfect Spanish flavor 5. Fugazza pizza (entree) - wonderful for my vegetarian friend and so flavorful you won't miss the meat 6. Houston smoked burger (entree)- great grilled flavor, but so much stuff on it that it was impossible to pick up to eat. Not a fan of battered fries 7. Crispy Brussels (side) - the pork belly fell flat. Chunks were too large to render any fat and provide flavor 8. Ecuadorian shrimp ceviche (side)- sadly, all peppers and no shrimp. 9. I've been coming to De Fuego since the year they opened. They have the bar, the restaurant and the speak easy "underground" and all three are peak experience. The only true upscale restaurant in the clackamas area. Food is consistently good quality and service is always wonderful. The underground has live jazz music or piano player on the weekends and brings an experience that feels unique to anything else I've been to in the Portland area. read more

We've done brunch, lunch and dinners here at de Fuego and we're never disappointed. They have such a lovely vibe throughout the whole place, bonus points for the beautiful indoor fireplace and pool views. My favorite items offered are their short ribs (fall off the bone glorious), the ceviche app and ANY of their steak entrees. Fried chicken sandwich for lunch is also a yes.
