As big fans of de Garde beer, we were so excited to finally visit in person while on vacation. We came in around 5:00pm on a Thursday, so it was very quiet. A few patrons came in and out for beers to-go, a few stayed to enjoy beers on-site like us. I quite liked the quiet evening so we could fully soak in the goodness of de Garde beer, the warm atmosphere, and have time to chat with the friendly bartender on shift. We had a few beers on the patio to enjoy the cool coastal air, then moved inside for our next round. We enjoyed sitting in both areas. While all of their beer is phenomenal to us, the stand outs for me were The Purple: Gin Barrel Cuvee and The Renrocha. Although we were flying in from out of State, we took 3 bottles home with us so we could continue savoring the well-crafted beers of de Garde! Can't wait to come back! read more

Amazing spot in Tillamook. The sour beers are delightfully unique, using wild yeast and barrel age. They have table games, and we gladly spent the afternoon while our car's brakes were replaced down the road. What a gem! Some of the most unique sours around! There's a nice selection to choose from and none of the beers have disappointed me yet. A delicious hidden gem and a must stop when I come to this part of the coast. Service is always friendly and the place is so spacious. The wild ale beers here were subtle and well-balanced, definitely not too funky or challenging as some sour ales can be. We particularly enjoyed how much the cherries stood out in the kreik. De Garde is delish ~ specializing in sours and experimental farmhouse ales. The wild brews can make you squint and pucker but your tastebuds will definitely be happy. Many of the brews have been fermenting in barrels for a couple years, so this is no quick concoction. Friendly local servers happy to pour you a glass. It's just incredible that this place exists on the Oregon coast. Absolutely world class unique wild-fermentation. Always something interesting, new and delicious to try. The bartender Bryce is friendly and super knowledgeable and my wife and I always enjoy chatting with him. I can't express how much we love this place. Wish there were more stars to give. I came here with my dog to work on a few things. We had the whole patio to ourselves! There were several customers inside - it was probably too cold for them. But I'm from Wisconsin so it was fantastic for me. I tried 3 different beers. We tried many beers and I would give high ratings to all of them, one was a little too skunky for me. I dont recall which one at this time, but it was a tough finish. The prices seem fine. The beer like I said is mostly good. I enjoyed the visit for sure and its a beer spot that I am glad I was able to chill at. With that being said everyone was extremely nice and helpful, but the atmosphere, the music, the inside experience was not my favorite. The music wasnt bad, but not really jam, super chill indie rock. I like this style at specific times, but not during a hang. It would be tough to go out with friends to this spot to chill. There are some breweries that this works better with, but this reminds of more of a vineyard experience. I wouldnt get rowdy or loud or play games in here, but once again, definitely worth the visit for the beer alone. read more

Amazing place to find delicious high-quality beers made from wine grapes, fruits, teas, or even truffles. Although I haven't tried their wine yet, I wouldn't be surprised if it were also top-notch. It's pretty cool they also have guest taps that are not sours, makes it easy to bring along people who don't prefer sour beers. Providing these options also seems part of de Garde's mission too, as even the staff are eager to celebrate what other brewers are up to. There's definitely a reason de Garde is consistently rated as one of the top breweries in the US every year. Highly recommend. read more

de Garde Brewing is located in Tillamook: my impression of this small town is that there isn't much to do besides eat cheese and drink beer...my version of heaven! My boyfriend and I have been fans of de Garde beers for a while, so we were excited to visit. It was a Sunday afternoon, and street parking was ample. The building is beautiful: the exterior, the inside taproom, as well as the patio. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice to stop in Tillamook! Small town and really nice bartenders. Plenty of places to sit, mostly wood interior. Cute atmosphere and friendly people. Tried a couple wild ales, I did also like that they have a mix of saison/wild. I picked up a bottle of that which was 8 bucks since the bottle was smaller. Most bottles are 18 bucks. Not gonna lie, the reason for planning a 2nd visit to Portland was greatly fueled by a deep desire to visit De Garde especially since I was unable to make it out the first time I was in town. If you love sours, De Garde is a MUST! Be wary- if you haven't learned to appreciate that funk and yeast, you probably won't like De Garde. It's not for everyone! I happen to possess a deep and passionate appreciation for sours and all of the beers offered here on my trek out to small town Tillamook were downright ORGASMIC. My taste buds were in heaven! Come with a full stomach though because sure they're sours, but they are also rather strong. You'll want everything on draft and definitely will want to consume some bottles for in-house consumption. We had everything on tap plus three bottles for in-house which we did end up sharing with some peeps nearby. Drink sours and make friends! I'm sure you didn't trek out to Tillamook just to drink De Garde. They are guaranteed to have bottles to-go as well. De Garde is known far and wide in the beer community not only for their amazing sours, but also for their bottles offered at VERY reasonable prices. Yes, they reward you for visiting them in the middle of no where so max out on everything if there's a limit and take as much as possible of the others. Anything with stone fruit adjuncts are a must and their *Bu* series are also very enjoyable. The boyfriend and I were SO happy that *The Peach* was still in stock during the holidays and maxed out on those without question. :3 The drive out to Tillamook from Portland is only 1.5 hours, so get your a$$ out here! You absolutely will not be disappointed. FYI- Tillamook Cheese Factory is 15 minutes away near the center of town and Cape Meares is 25 minutes away if you're looking to kill time before De Garde opens. Their hours are VERY limited and are only open Thurs-Sunday. Keep that in mind so you don't miss out! read more

de Garde was definitely worth the stop while we were here in Tillamook for a bit. Unlike some of Pelican's more mainstream (dare I say, delicious but boring) beers, de Garde is experimenting with wild yeast to create some delicious, sometimes funky sours. If I remember correctly, they had taps of their beers which were all sours, as well as eight guest taps of other types. Within our group we ended up trying all of de Garde's tap offerings - my favorite was probably the Riesling grape one but they were all pretty good. None of them were suuuuuuper sour but a tamer pleasant sour. They don't do flights per se but they offer each beer in a 6 oz or 12 oz serving do you can basically create your own tasting flight. We also tried their cherry wine - it was delicious, tasting kind of like a boozey prune juice. I recommend a stop here when in Tillamook! read more

Okay - I'm not a beer expert or connoisseur or anything like that. My daughter's friend recommended this place and since we were going to be in the area I thought we would check it out. I emailed ahead of time as recommended and thought I'd allowed plenty of time to get there. But slow SB traffic on the 101 and prior to that, SLOW service at a restaurant in Astoria, made us late. However, the de Garde staff were very accommodating and were still able to seat us. So--the beer. The four of us tried 7 or 8 different kinds. Some of the sours were way too sour for my taste -- but my wife liked them. The two that I ordered - were crisp and refreshing and healthy tasting. I can't say that I would ever have considered describing beer as 'healthy' tasting. But not healthy like medicine, healthy like not made in a huge factory millions of miles away. My only recommendation would be to consider offering beer flights -- so that novices like me can get an idea of which ones they like/don't like. read more

This place is heaven. If you're in Portland, you have to make the drive to Tillamook and try the sours here, they are phenomenal! Very affordable prices, cute tasting room, great and affordable merchandise and affordable beer!!! You can buy some bottles there to drink so make sure you make friends nearby! Fortunately, I made a few friends nearby and got to try 4 different types of beers you can only buy and drink there. We split the amount and it was awesome. I came with just my boyfriend so it was hard to share a bottle between us...so make friends there! My all time favorite here is Nectarine Premiere! 5/5! read more

Cool brewery in a Tillamook! The space is really nice inside. For beers, they are on the sour end of the beer spectrum but they do have a guest tap of non sour beer. I had the Raz Bu which was a raspberry beer and I also tried the Blu Bu which was a blueberry beer. I really liked both of the beers. They also have a list of 22oz beers that aren't on tap but only bottled that you can only have in the tap room. Overall, it was a good stop and I would stop by again! read more

We stopped by de Garde for a quick drink. They don't offer flights, but they do have small pours you can order. I tried three, and all were solid. The Purple Kriek really stood out (so good I took a bottle home), but the others were good as well. There's a small patio out front that was just great during my visit (back in June). Awe yeah sour yeah! I love the beers here at de Garde! We pulled up around 3:30 (they open @ 3) and the place was already packed. The to-go bottle line was down the street so we pulled up a couple chairs and settled in. My buddy got The Kriek and i ordered the FAIL. Both did not disappoint. The spontaneous fermentation method gives de Garde beer a leg up and really sets them apart from everyone else jumping on the sour bandwagon and allows them to create their own identity. You cant come to oregon and not hit this place up. read more

Super cute place to hang out and enjoy an amazing beer. Their beers have just the right amount of sour, and are delicious! The facility has a dog friendly covered patio as well as inside seating. The beertenders are super friendly and fun to talk to. The facility is clean, decorated well (love all the uses they found for old beer barrels), and roomy. Parking on the street is ample and there is also a free city parking lot across the street. read more
