Visiting Cannon Beach for a few days. Came here our first night, a Sunday, for dinner. Located at the northern end of the downtown center, there is a parking lot as well as street parking. There is an outdoor seating area. Inside is dark wood, with a view of their brewing area, and tables and booths. I was told at our hotel that they grow many of their own food sources and brew their own beer. My wife had the Buffalo chicken wings and a bowl of clam chowder soup; I had the pulled pork sandwich and fries. The wings were good the chowder was thin and lacking in clams. The pulled pork was tasty and plentiful; when I picked it up half the pork fell off. The fries were crispy but plain. The staff were nice. The woman at the counter educated us on the food and beer. I had a nice hazy IPA. Expect to pay premium prices when you eat your meals out in Cannon Beach; $70 for our meal. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. read more

Came here yesterday for the first time in two years and just as good as I remembered. I got the onions rings of course GF and the chicken wings with garlic Parmesan sauce. Onion rings were crispy and had great flavor. I had a GF blueberry cider that was quite delicious. One of my friends got the fish and chips and said it was excellent. Tomato soup was very good. My other friend got the pretzel with cheese sauce and said it was very good and the clam chowder that was great. Was a sunny day so were able to side out on their nice patio. Dog friendly patio. Best glass of beer on the North Coast. Full stop. Cannon Beach has plenty of places to stop in for a bite or a drink, but Public Coast tops the beer list. Just go down Hemlock past most of the downtown area and you can't miss it. In 'warmer months' the hydrangeas make the whole place stand out. The patio area is almost as big as their indoor seating area, and with good reason. Cannon Beach summer weather is simply spectacular and it's perfect for marrying a beer, a patio, & some local fare. They open at noon each day and there is generally a line forming right before they crack the doors. That's how you know it's good! There are probably half a dozen year-round beers with seasonal alternatives mixed in. They even have gluten-reduced options (think seltzers) for those that are sensitive to that kind of thing. I opted for a tall glass of their Coconut Brown, a brown ale with some chocolatey & tropical notes. Smashingly good beer! My wife likes things a little light and chose their '67 Blonde, a very drinkable lager with a crisp finish. Both of those went nicely with my lunch of choice, the pulled pork sammich, because a KC kid needs to sample a BBQ game from afar. Great sandwich, tender pork, some spicy oomph to the sauce, and crispy slaw & jalapeños on top. But the real hook was the platter of fish and chips that my wife inhaled. Beer-battered, tender pieces of seasonal white fish, plated up with a side, and served with lemon wedges & tartar sauce and WOWZA! Simply outstanding! The lightness of the fish and the flavor of the coating paired *perfectly* with her '67 Blonde. We also added a half-order of onion rings, most of which were the size of life preservers and battered much like the fish - unbelievably good! Public Coast is on the North Coast Food Trail and is touted for its inclusion as an ocean-friendly restaurant. They serve up Oregon fare, like Tillamook dairy products and others, Public Coast even tends their own farm for sourcing. The PNW gets down like that: sustainability, local sourcing, and fierce regional pride show up and show out. Public Coast represents that and more, brewing fabulous beer, serving 'good grub', and cultivating that coastal Oregon experience to a T. Dogs are welcome, with posted rules, and there are usually plenty of them. It's a great spot, and you simply can't go wrong. read more

Stopped by Cannon Beach to soak in the coastal views and kept hearing great things about this brewery -- happy to report it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the space impressed -- spacious, beautifully designed, and full of personality. The merch shop alone is worth a browse, with some of the coolest hats, shirts, books, and more. A really fun touch that adds to the overall experience. I was traveling with someone who has celiac, and it was such a relief to find a place that's so accommodating and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. That alone made it stand out. We ordered a little bit of everything -- chicken wings, a burger, garlic parmesan dirty fries, and onion rings with a root beer BBQ sauce that was seriously next level. Paired it all with a bottle of wine, and we were set. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and satisfying. The service was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It's clear they care about both their food and their guests. This spot is definitely worth a visit if you're in town. Been here many times, as it's a staple when we come to town. Has gone downhill drastically. We don't mind paying $100 for a sandwich, fish and chips, kids meal, pretzel and a couple sodas and one beer but we do expect the food to be at least warm. Fries were barely warm, same w fish and chicken, the cheese sauce for the pretzel was cold. Bathroom had soap dispenser off the wall, laying on the counter, it overall has gone downhill. I'm guessing new ownership. Attempted to go back for another beer, but three employees were standing around talking with only one person at the register with a long line so we skipped it. read more

#1 Brewery in Oregon! Don't forget to visit the farm along 26 during summer! Oh, and they also have a root beer that will knock your socks off! The food is seasonal and tasty! Not your typical fried pub affair. This place is awesome. The ambiance and the seating were so nice. The staff were friendly. I especially liked the gose (it was VERY tasty) and the fish and chips were so fresh, light, and fluffy. I would definitely come back for it. I would not get the clam chowder again, not because it was bad but because it lacked any kind of pizzazz. A very solid brewery in Cannon Beach. As you enter the main drag you drive right next to The Public Coast Brewing. Lots of outdoor seating, plenty of parking on the backside of the building. As you walk into the Brewery from the rear you are greeted by a large brewing tower. As you make your way into the main counter you have several menus where you will find the various beers and food options. We ordered the Fish and Chips, well done dish good portion, good batter. I wish they would offer a lemon slice without asking for one with the dish. We also split the clam chowder, also very tasty, nice and rich not watery. We finished our meal with two 67 Blondes, nice and smooth beer it was the perfect mix of beer and food. You have outdoor seating options and smaller indoor seating booths. They also have a shop with various souvenirs by the main entrance. Over all a good experience, the staff were friendly enough that we interacted with. My wife has celiac, so this place is awesome for her as the majority of the food is gluten free, so no worries. While a small menu, what they have they do well. I'm picky on my clam chowder and have been pleased with what I have gotten here. Had the fish tacos and loved them. The onion rings are fantastic and served with their root beer bbq sauce. A friend visiting from the east coast loved it so much that we asked for their recipe and they sent it along converted to family sized portion. much appreciated. the wings are great. A variety of beer on tap and a delicious cider. Water is by the soda machine. There are a few booths inside and a long table to share and some patio area outside with tables that you can bring the dog along. Only bummer is they open at noon. This place is a little on the spendy side for what it is. Beer on tap is $8.25 ea. Cod fish and chips were $24. The cod pieces were relatively small, like they cut them in half or something to make it 4 pieces? Other spots at least give you a little slaw on the side for that price. There also is no table service. You order and pay ahead at the bar which I don't mind but the prices don't reflect this. Comparatively you can get better fish and chips for $15 at Riverside or Bowpicker. We also got a burger for $20. The menu explicitly states the burger will be medium rare but ours definitely came out well done. Just a standard burger, nothing special. Lunch was $75 after tip for pretty plain food at a self-serve establishment. Is everything just more expensive because it's in fancy-pants Cannon Beach? read more

Great location with free Tesla charger nearby. Super friendly staff and brewery vibes. Food here is your typical bar/pub food and it's all done very well. Great comfort food feels. I can't speak to the brewery itself, not being able to recall if I've ever eaten there, but their root beer is something on a whole other level. I found it in Portland at Zupan's and I am not exaggerating when I say it's the best root beer I have ever had. Their cream soda is good too, but their root beer.... . We've been wanting to try this place for a while. We visit Cannon Beach specifically to breathe the coastal air and walk along the beach, to Haystack Rock and back, and then we head back home. We don't usually stay in town to have a meal. But on this particular day we decided to live a little and spend a full afternoon in town. :) Public Coast has a super casual & relaxed atmosphere (what I love most about the Oregon Coast) with indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered at the counter and then chose a picnic table outside near the fire pit bar. Our table was in full sun which I desperately needed, but there are also plenty of tables under the pergola (which were all occupied while we were there). Lots of people outside enjoying the gorgeous day along with their well behaved dogs. :) The staff were kind and service was good and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Sea Salt Pretzel which has Jacobsen sea salt (my absolute fave salt), the Brewer's plate, and Oregon grass fed beef burger, along with 2 beers, the Coconut Brown Ale for me and the Coastal Haze IPA for hubby. My beer tasted like a coconut cold brew coffee, lol, and it was good but just not what I was expecting, even though it is a suggested pairing with the brewer's plate. I wish I had ordered the Coastal Haze instead. Of the items we ordered the pretzel was definitely my favorite, along with the cheese sauce. We sat for about an hour and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed vibe and time in the sunshine. They also have plenty of merch inside that looked really cute; I like their branding. Malachi was the most friendly wonderful server/bartender I've ever met. The food and drinks were bomb. Fish tacos were amazing, wings were crispy, burger and fries were delicious. We got the cider and multiple beers. We sat at the bar and watched all the food come out which all looked fantastic. The only negative was not enough sauce on the fish tacos which they will give you for free if you ask. So.....I guess absolutely no negatives! I wish I took pictures. read more

The fries had additional seasoning and one kiddo had it without since they're more sensitive and they loved the fries. one kid had the seasoning but didn't like it, too sweet. Regardless, the food was great. The beer and cider were too. Only complaint is seating. This place gets busy. You order then find a table. Some groups have part of their party waiting at a table while the rest wait in line. That has left us eating in our lap more than once. It also makes finding a table a bit anxiety inducing. Every time we come to Cannon Beach, we visit Public Coast at least once, and usually twice. We're gluten-free, and their GF fryers allow us to have delicious fish and chips and fish tacos. They have GF beer from Colorado (Holidaily) and unreal root beer and cream soda.
