Love this town staple. You can tell it's a fan favorite. The staff is so kind. If it's your first time they give you a sample of the clam chowder. It was so fresh and tasted so good! All the food we got was nothing short of incredible. Great flavor and wasn't too fishy. They have small outdoor seating with umbrellas. You go inside order then they bring it out. They have a good menu but not overwhelming with options. The fresh bread bowl with chowder was one of the best I've had. Would definitely visit again!

Delicious gluten free clam chowder. Cute funky outside seating with umbrellas. Friendly service. Nothing else on the menu GF, but they did have cooked shrimp in the fridge. Popular place!

Heard a lot about this place so decided to stop in. It's off season so no issues with getting in and sitting. Lots of outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Tried the fried oysters and fries, clam chowder and crab melt. People say it's expensive. And maybe for a quick serve it's pricey but you get a lot of food. Clam chowder was okay at best. I've had better (in fact the clam chowder at pelican brewery is better) the fried oysters, fries and coleslaw. That's worth going back for. Which makes me think the fish would be great. Worth the price. The crab melt I would skip. Lots of crab but really salty and greasy. Go for the fish and chips.

The Old Oregon Smoke House is on the main drag at Rockaway Beach. Nice amount of outside seating options and even high chairs (which we needed). We ordered the halibut fish and chips, crab cake and chips, clam strips and chips and chowder. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delivered to our table in an appropriate amount of time. Tartar sauce and cocktail sauce came in pretty large amounts with our food. The halibut was ok, good but nothing exceptional. The crab cake was really good and big! The clam strips were flavorful and not over the top chewy and came with a tasty dipping sauce. The fries were great! The chowder was pretty good. This establishment is in a great location and is served pretty good food. It seems a little overpriced but this is a tourist town.

The chowder was super creamy and filling. Loaded with clams and not an overwhelming amount of potatoes. Maybe could have used a lil salt & pepper but otherwise a pretty darn tasty bowl! There are about 6 picnic tables out front to eat if the weather permits.

After hearing about the old Oregon smokehouses chowder. I had to drive down to try it out for myself. The chowder is on the thicker side, which I actually prefer and it is very flavorful, though there is not very many clams in the clam chowder. I also ordered a side of prawns and chips. The prawns were large cooked correctly and flavorful. I would definitely swing by again when I'm in the area.

We stopped by Rockaway Beach and found a charming little local eatery that was quite busy. Intrigued, we decided to try it and ordered the campus-style halibut and chips, along with fresh oyster shots. The homemade sauce served with the oysters was incredibly flavorful and well-balanced. The halibut was exceptionally fresh, which enhanced the dish's quality. The restaurant accepted credit and debit cards, making payment easy. As a small local business, they had a warm and welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. Thank you for sampling the clam chowder, which was fresh. We will stop by again to order it next time.

Came in on a Monday morning and didn't know what to expect. I ordered the halibut and chips and it was kind of underwhelming. It was okay flavor wise, but not worth $30. Might come back again to try something else because the location is really cute + the service was good as well!

    Yep, we loved it!

Authentic and good! Their melt is tasty. Outside dining and very casual. I wish there was inside dining. They have a nice and extensive menu. The fish is a sure bet.

Truly a hidden gem in a beach town! Came in New Year's Day and did not disappoint. Ordered the cod with fries and a small clam chowder! The sauces that come with the fish and chips are truly delicious, be sure to order extra m. Food is made to order so a wait is to be expected, luckily there are plenty of small shops around to kill time. 10/10 recommend.

They updated a few things, moved the office towards the front, and it just seems to be running really well (do I dare say better?). Everything else is great! We rented a boat and went crabbing. Only got 3 crabs this time, but it was still fun. It's just the idea of being out there that makes it so fun! We went on a rainy day so could not enjoy the view from our site since we had to stay inside the trailer. It's okay, it was still a great visit. I look forward to going again! Ha! I have to laugh, you know when you are tying reviews, you can see others to the right. I see that one of my friends wrote a review and pretty much wrote the same as I did in the 1st paragraph. That's funny. July 2025

Reasonable prices and sufficient service for the freshest crabs!!!!! Not a lot of shade and cover spaces so come prepared for the weather. I wouldn't recommend it during winter raining season. They have small campground onsite though it more to accommodate people renting or taking their own boat out to the bay for crabbing, not designed for leisure camping experience due to its location. It offers its own gift shop, and restroom. Limited condiments on tables. I came prepared with my own lemon/lime and knife.

When you think small coastal town with a…read moretourist attraction like a scenic train depot stop, you think friendly, quaint, happy to support small business - well, I do at least! Our family did the Oregon Coast Scenic train from Rockaway Beach to Girbaldi. The layover in Girbaldi was very short, 25 mins, and we were looking to grab a quick bite and water. The conductor suggested the Girbaldi Bay Market. The markets 'deli' was closed (it was 330p) but had pre-made sandwiches to choose from. The slender, short, light brown haired lady at the register came over asking if we needed help, we asked about the made to order sandwiches and were told only the pre-made ones were available. Ok, fine. Then asked about the advertised fried chicken, that was also not available. Alright. So then one would assume there was nothing more to 'help' us with. We say thank you and carry on. As we are sorting thru the medicore selections, the lady is standing there staring at us with her scanner in hand with an obviously annoyed look on her face, LIT.ER.AL.LY rolls her eyes, whispers something negative to the other cashier and goes back to her sheets of barcodes. I apologize for not knowing what we wanted and she just stares at me as if I was inconveinencing her by bringing her business. I don't want to assume this treatment is reserved for 'outsiders' or those with more melanin but it makes you wonder. Having a heavy service industry background I'm always taken aback when confronted with unprovoked rudeness. I can't speak for the rest of this small town but I would recommend getting your liquor, deli, small market needs at the next gas station (Cheveron) or better yet - just blow through this dying town altogether.

The booths/tables are large and spacious. The view is Pacific Northwest perfection. We spent a large chunk of our breakfast watching boats, people fishing, and crabbing. It did take a moment to be acknowledged or seated, but it is worth the wait. I think they only had one very sweet host, and she was also taking orders, and running food. I ordered the coconut french toast (half order), and a side of the crispiest bacon. I also order crispy bacon, but rarely does a location truly get it right. There tends to be floppy flaccid parts, and flaccid is never a preference, especially when it comes to crispy bacon. This bacon was crisped to perfection. The french toast was very good, but quite sweet. I couldn't have handled more than a half order. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, with a side of biscuits and gravy. He annihilated his. We appreciated all that Pirate's Cove had to offer, and will return should we find ourselves in the Rockaway/Garibalidi area.
