Hands down BEST place to get nachos in Oceanside. The bean and cheese burrito is SOLID too. They're generous, friendly, great music always playing (especially when they are playing love songs), the chef is always doing his thang and the girls are GREAT. I LOVE the carne asada and carnitas nachos, I highly recommend the nachos, my new thing is the American version of the sour cream and guacamole (Don't know what it's called but it's AMAZING in the bean and cheese burrito.

Low C-Tier Mexican food. I got a California burrito and a large Diet Coke for $16.32. Refills are $1.75. Eeek. The burrito was pretty flavorless, and the salsas they gave didn't add much. The cheese wasn't melted in the burrito. This a low 3, bordering on a 2. Service: What you'd expect. Ambience: What you'd expect from a hole in the wall place, bordering on the grungy side. There's no reason to go here when Mi Asador exists.

I have long been coming here for years . . . once last year, once the year before and once the year before that, etc. They have my all-time favorite Pollo Asado burrito. It is a fajita-styled burrito and is excellent and rather large. They also have great carrots and salsas too. That's just about all I ever get. Maybe a quesadilla too. Super friendly staff and speedy too. Stop by here "too" . Dicks

I had high expectations for this place as they share the name Kotija with Kotija Jr. Taco Shop out in Encinitas which serves hands-down the best fish tacos I've had in north county. I do wonder if they are related somehow? On this day I only ordered three carne asada tacos. The price for each seemed kind of high (almost $6) but I wanted to try them anyway. They were "okay" - nothing spectacular. Each taco came with two corn tortillas, so we actually divided one taco into two separate tacos but an easier bite. Still, I would have prefered a street taco style, for half the price for each. Service was good, and quick. They gave me three red & three green salsas which was nice, as well as a grilled jalapeno. Overall not too bad.

To taco combination with Lengua and Cabeza and it is absolutely delicious

This is a wonderful place. People are very nice and the food is just awesome! The prices are what they are. Everything seems to cost a little bit more. But these are very big tacos which thrilled me. Thank you so much Lorena. I guess this is an addition to the last time I was here because it won't let me do another review. It's just letting me add to the current review so this taco one was from last week and today I got the quesadilla picture to follow. Now they charge almost 4 dollars more for shrimp, but I have to say that it is cooked perfectly and juicy and there's plenty of of it. So I think totally worth it. However, for a quesadilla, it seems kind of lacking in the cheese department which surprises me.

I loved the bean and cheese burrito, the asada tacos were greasy and I would avoid them. Fish tacos were good. They do charge extra for the sauces and I found most weirdly sweet. The Habanero one was good. Now for the best part: the drinks here rock! Note that they make extra strong drinks and I was happy after just one spicy margarita. Service is friendly and they do have a dog friendly patio. I will definitely be back when I'm visiting Oceanside next time.

The atmosphere is such a cool, unique blend of old-school hip-hop culture and colorful abstract art. The absolute best part? You actually order your food straight out of a repurposed old-school bus parked right next to the main bar setup. Our server was awesome--super welcoming and incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu choices. Here is what loaded up our table: OG Taco & Yard Bird Taco: Packed with flavor, tender meats, and signature sauces. (The meat did surprise us though because it comes out a little sweet) Flounder Pounder & Skrimps Carnal Tacos: Fresh, seasoned seafood options with fantastic crunch and zip. Kids OG Taco: A total hit with our son, who declared it delicious. Chips & Salsa: We had a slightly mixed experience here--a few chips felt like they were either a bit stale or just needed an extra minute in the fryer, but the salsa flavor itself was spot-on. Capacity Brewing Non-Alcoholic IPA: Crisp and refreshing beverage to wash down all that spice while keeping things family-friendly. Overall, it's a rad, laid-back spot with big flavor and a fun environment that kids and parents alike will enjoy. B.U.M.S. Pro-Tips: Beat the Peak Hour: Seating near the bus started filling up while we ate. Arrive slightly ahead of the lunch or dinner rush to grab a prime spot near the art walls. Mix & Match Tacos: Don't stick to just one style--pairing a seafood option like the Flounder Pounder with a classic meat taco gives you the best of both worlds. It's a true family-style operation--one owner personally takes your order while the other is in the kitchen cooking everything fresh, and you can taste that attention to detail in every bite. Not great, necessarily, but good and the prices are some of the best around. They have a ton of options, and lots of drinks, including beer. We were just picking up, and it was a very hot day. The restaurant didn't have any air-conditioning so it was quite warm inside. Most people were eating outside. We'll be back again to try some other menu items given that their prices are generally pretty good.

As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
