We had a great time at this restaurant. They were close at 8:00 pm but they still let us in and served us, I think we were the last customers. Our waiter was nice and very attentive. Food was great as well. We ordered some chicken and steak fajitas, chicken tamales, queso dip, Burrito (Sergio) and a margarita. Food was delicious, service was great. Happy cinco de mayo friends. Ordered 2 plates of enchiladas to go tonight. Knowing from the past they are VERY dry of sauce so requested extra sauce. Best carne asada I've ever had, and I eat a lot of carne asada. Sauces were a little thick, but the habanero was on point.

This is for the Coeur D'Alene location. We ordered 3 dinners: Two enchiladas a la carte (and got the full combo), a rebel burrito with no pico (and got pico), and Sergios Burrito with the holy meat. The holy meat was full of fat that we found after biting into it and there was not that much taste to it to start with. My family and I went here for lunch today and wow what a treat!!! The staff were very friendly and took care of every need. The food came out extremely fast and the food was incredibly fresh. I ordered the Baja burrito which comes with shrimp. The shrimp was extremely fresh and well seasoned. I also ordered one of each salsa to try and each one was uniquely different. Wow!!! Where do I start...... I guess I'll start with this being the worst tex mex I have ever had. Not even close!! After ordering at the counter like a cheap fast food joint I was asked if I wanted chips and salsa. Much to my surprise I was charged $4.99 for them. Big pile of chips and 1 small bowl of salsa. Our food came out looking nothing like the pics. The pollo ala crema wasn't close to any I have ever seen (Not Good) Received a small plastic cup for self service water and self service for utensils napkins ect. but prompted for a tip at the time of ordering. Never checked on us even once but after getting the food I don't blame them as I had nothing good to say to them. Honest review- I had people reach out to me personally telling me I had to try this place. Walking In, everything was clean and fresh. I was disappointed when I heard they sold concha's/ pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) but there was only a couple (obviously not fresh) and individually wrapped. After forking out more money for a single concha I have ever paid, I was extremely disappointed. It was stale and dry. Flavor was decent, but after a few bites, that was it for me and my son who absolutely loves pan dulce) We ordered a side of rice and some burritos And a side of flan. Rice - cooked well, absolutely zero flavor. The burritos- Carne asada (lady said it was the most popular) - the carna asada was well cooked, moist but lacking any flavor. Then add the flavorless rice, along with the beans (not bad) and some onions and cilantro. Al pastor - take my details of the carne asada burrito and replace carne asada with al pastor. Tasted the same. Flan- had one bite while we ate at the restaurant. Tried another bite when I got home, then tossed it. Salsa- this was the best part of the experience. Salsa was great! Good flavors. The difficult part about the whole experience was the price tag. From the sweet bread to the just shy of $15 for a burrito and on top of that , the portions were not generous. It was kind of a let down to see no servers. you have to order at counter and they bring it the food out. not at the same time in our case. we ordered a steak quesadilla, carne asada torta and guacamole and chips. guac came out first. very good. best we have had up here.Chips were a little thick or stale. torta next. i ordered no onions or pico. it had onions on it. when the quesadilla showed up a couple minutes later, I sent my torta back. Little over five minutes later I received my correct order. Quesadilla was good, lots of cheese, but not a lot of steak. Torta was pretty good, authentic bread. Had a lot of refried beans on it which I wasn't big on. the place seems pretty sterile. no music. they did not put a lot into remodeling. they just moved in and used all of the cosmic cowboys stuff. some light fixtures werent even working. self serve utensil/togo area a mess and we were there at opening. overall not what expected but food was ok. if you go in thinking rancho you will be let down. if you go in thinking chipotle or qdoba ..pretty spot on. read more

The restaurant is clean and some of the staff are good. That's it, that's the positives. My main issue is that it's not Tex-Mex. Maybe California Mexican but that's not what they advertise. The proportions are small, the flavor is wrong, and if you Google what bean is mostly likely used in Tex-Mex food, it's not black beans. Even in higher end Tex-Mex establishments, you wouldn't find prices this high and they wait staff would seat you and take care of you. This restaurant is HORRIBLE!!!! De Leon's Tex Mex? The carne asada plate is $22.99 and you get $2.00 worth of meat. The guacamole is not good, the lettuce stuff they put on your plate has some kind of hot pepper, maybe Serranos. The plate comes with a green onion and jalapeño COVERED in this hot salty stuff. They got the order for the carne asada plate wrong. My boyfriend can't eat rice so we ordered all beans. I went up to pay for a plate of tortilla chips and saw the plate had rice on it???? I asked the person at the cashiers area if that was the carne asada for us and she said yes. I had to tell her it should have been all beans. She explained that to one of the cooks. He scooped new beans onto a new plate and then used his hands to put the meat, guacamole and salad on this plate. That put the red, hot salty stuff all over the plate. I got the carne asada plate, a side of elote, a side of chips and a "large" guac and it was $30!! The portions were a bit disappointing and the chips seem like they came out of a bag, as they weren't fresh and there wasn't any signs of frying or salt. The guac tasted like it was the spicy option at Costco and out of a tub. I can make better at home! The carne asada tacos were a bit sweet, which threw this Mexican off a bit. This is a tough one. You grab a menu and order up front, pay at the same time, and are expected to tip before you've received any service. Get your own drinks, cutlery, etc and choose a seat. We've been to De Leon's in Spokane and this one is different. Dry tortillas, pollo ala crema with very little crema, bland salsa, luke warm food.The cutlery station was out of forks, knives and napkins. I am a 6th gen Texan, spent 50 years in Texas, this is an insult to Tex Mex. There is NO salsa on the table to spread on your food....plus chips are extra!!! That is just unamerican for mexican food period. Chicken enchlaidas were extremely dry, barely any sauce on or in them. The ground beef taco was equal to a small street taco. Went here on 10/15/2023 around 2:30PM. The place seemed to be about 1/3 full of patrons. Wife ordered a steak quesadilla and I ordered 2 street tacos with rice and beans. I ordered a 3rd street taco because I was hungry. Waited about 20 minutes for our order when I finally got up and asked an employee where order 47 was. She came back to me promptly and said it would be about 10 more minutes. My wife and I were getting worried that we pick the wrong place. Once we received our food, it was very underwhelming at best. Street tacos were very small, under portioned and somewhat cold. Beans had absolutely zero taste. Rice was light and flaky but also tasteless. Wife's steak quesadilla had only mozzarella on it and also lacked taste. I hope this place can stay in business since my first experience was a disaster. read more
