We came in around 830pm as a last minute decision because a lot of places were already closed & we didn't want public food & were so over-pizzad, we needed something else. There were 2 other occupied tables on arrival. Staff primarily spoke in Spanish to each other and English to patrons. I speak both languages and that allowed me to hear what staff were saying on both ends. The building is rather large with ample seating. We were given water, chips & salsa right away, as well as very large menus... probably too large. The hubs got the crazy donkey burrito, which has tasty skirt steak & i did the maxatlan burrito, which had rather plain shrimp. Authentic Mexican and a blob of sour cream don't go together for me but all of the burritos appeared to be topped with it. As a sour cream lover, I don't mind it. The portions were huge & the food was hot. Prices were high at nearly $22 per burrito, comparatively speaking to other similar restaurants. We enjoyed the salsa & we certainly overate, as we were travel and had no option to take leftover food with us. Service was decent and a 2nd set of chips & salsa was brought out. We had a large group of 30+ they were very accommodating making sure we had seats for everyone. The chips and salsa were great and they took all of our orders right away. I rarely stop in restaurants, but I was doing errands right before lunch and decided to try the place I'd been by for years. It was exactly what I'd hoped for, good, basic, Mexican food. It was also a large portion, so I did get what I paid for. I had the verde pork. The sauce was nice and the pork was tender. Good beans. I ate plenty of chips and salsa and they had no questions about refilling both. Polite, efficient staff. The only issue is they brought me flour rather than corn tortillas; but that's not enough to lower it by a full star. I give it 4.5, rounded up. read more

This place used to be so good. I brought my dad here for Father's Day today and the salsa was watered down tomato sauce. I got our food, a drink and first beer promptly and then all service disappeared! We waited, and waited and waited for someone to finally reappear to ask for real salsa and another drink. Went here for Cinco De Mayo and it was pretty busy. The hostess could have done a way better job at keeping track of tables open and order of the list...but this review is mainly about the food because it's been some time since I had some decent Mexican food. Queso was super good and flavorful and the best I've had out in the Spokane area. Chips were good and crunchy not to salty or oily, margs were pretty good for the size and price. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and cooked not too dry like some I've had. The atmosphere was pretty good not to loud or quiet. Also the worker Diego was phenomenal paying attention to everyone from chips and salsa refills, more water, to clearing out tables to get the line moving. I can't say enough good things about this location! We come here all the time for nachos. Today in particular we got nachos but they accidentally put beans on it after we asked for none. Obviously accidents happen and they never do this so no biggie! I felt so bad even returning them for a new order but they were so kind and replaced the nachos and gave us more salsa and a free small dessert. Being pregnant and hormonal this made my whole night. We have had borderline rude waitstaff both times we went, that seemed inconvenienced by having to wait on people. The gal got the manager because it wasn't a simple hair it was a MOUSE cooked into his food. She carried it away as if it was no big deal. We immediately put our to go boxes on the table and felt sick. Totally grossed out. I asked for a partial refund and they refused. We left. Went to dinner tonight with our elderly parents. We were greeted at the door with a "How many?" No smile or how are you tonight. We were taken to a table where she tossed the menus down and walked off. It took awhile for chips and salsa and even longer, 15 mins or so, for someone to take a drink order. The food came out more quickly but was below mediocre. The plates were hot, but the food was lukewarm. Our bill was $128.00 and I've had better burritos at Sr. Froggy. We stopped here for lunch during our road trip to Glacier National Park. We ordered many vegetarian dishes on the menu and they all tasted great. The Taco vege salad was the best of all. We ordered the food online for pickup and during pickup we checked with the waitress if we could eat at the restaurant as it was pretty empty at that time(we did tip her generously). It should be noted that I am a salsa snob. A bad salsa will ruin en entire dining experience for me. But a great salsa can redeem even the most mediocre dinner plate. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that here. Their salsa is lo delicioso de Spokane. In fact, I haven't tasted a finer salsa anywhere. It's just that good. I wish they would sell it by the jar. The food is also amazing. I usually stick to a few of my favorites, but I'm sure everything else on the menu is just as good. And I love that they bring a pitcher of water to the table. There is nothing worse than downing a glass of water after inhaling a jalapeno seed, only to have to wait 5 minutes to get a refill. Not here. I am from Southern California, my husband's family all from Mexico. We love Mexican food! While we will quickly note that this is an American version of "Mexican food" it is pretty good. (Having lived all over So. Cal for 30 + years, most of those restaurants are not authentic either... Just saying) This Rancho Viejo location is my favorite. We eat here frequently and the staff as well as the food have been consistent. Love the Pollo Carnitas! Chips and salsa good, but skip the mild stuff they put out for the kids... Too mild! The staff is great with our toddler, who loves this place. Great drinks as well. We just took a party of 16 here after a day at the tree farm.
