I spoke with Ramzi about doing the timing belt for my Toyota Sequoia. He quoted me a very good/fair price and knew exactly what I needed done. They replaced some other seals and thermostat as precautionary while they had it all taken apart so that I wouldn't have to pay for the labor to do it all again in the future if those went bad. Initially he told me that they would need the car for a day and a half and I said no problem so I dropped it off in the morning but they actually finished the job the same day and I was able to drive it home that evening! Absolutely amazing experience today! I found De Soto Auto Repair through Yelp, tried them because of all the positive reviews and now I understand why. They are great. We had a fuel leak, initially was just going to go in for a quick assessment. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump. Serious gas smell and leaking everywhere. Major issue that we would need to get resolved very soon. It was late in the day (and we wouldn't be able to return for a week or so) and they were working on other vehicles, but Ramzi was concerned about us driving the vehicle with this dangerous issue so he literally stopped what they were doing to get our car fixed today so that it would be safe to drive! Two hours later, and just as they were closing, they had it all completed! I've never been to a service shop before that would do something like that, to make us a priority the same day! Normally shops would just say "sorry, you'll have to come back some other time" and leave you on your own to deal with it. Very grateful and appreciative to Ramzi and his team! This review really needs to start five and a half years ago when I moved to Chatsworth. Prior to moving I'd had the same independent mechanic for over 20 years. On to Yelp I went in the hope I'd find someone I could now call "my mechanic." De Soto Auto Repair had good ratings and was close so I gave them a try. As they say, the rest is history. Simply put, when I'm looking for a mechanic or any other service for that matter, I'm looking for specific traits. KNOWLEDGE, HONESTY and VALUE. If there were 10 stars, I'd give them 11 on all three. Over the years I've had a couple of cars that required a lot of repair and knowledge. My first problem child was a 2003 Jaguar XK8. I had a rat get into the engine compartment and cause extensive damage. Unfortunately, because it was a "classic car", and a third car I didn't have comprehensive insurance coverage. De Soto Auto Repair went out of their way to find the necessary parts at reasonable prices and was able to get the car back on the road in a timely manner. We never had an issue with that car till the day we sold it. The next problem child was a '66 Mustang I purchased sight unseen (big mistake) for my wife's 60th birthday, as a surprise. It would take a small novel to explain all the work Ramzi and his guys have done to the car. Not only to make it safe but to make it the way I envisioned it. Let's just say that the only part of this car they haven't either rebuilt or repaired is the lower half of the engine. Another big plus is the network of people Ramzi can call on if there is work to be done they can't do. The guys he called on for the transmission, rear-end, drive shaft and power steering pump rebuild to name a few were all top notch and places I'd also recommend. In the end there is no way I can thank Ramzi and his guys for everything they've done to the Mustang. Over the years there developed a 4th trait that has as much value as the other 3 for me and that's FRIENDSHIP. Ramzi is no longer just "my mechanic" he also a friend. I woke up in the morning and I found out that I needed to correct my tire pressure. I needed this to get done ASAP before going to work. I pulled my Mercedes into the shop and the worker assisted me right away! I found out that the cap in one of the tires was missing and they gave me one to replace for free! They also corrected my tire pressure for free! I've been to many automotive shops in the past for things such as flat tire, breaks, even tire pressure and they've all tried to charge me extra for these. This location did it for free and fast too! Took my car here to get brake pads replaced. Front and rear cost $500 total for parts and labor. Ramzi gave me the estimate up front and they took my car right away to get serviced. Estimated 1-1.5 hr for the job, so I decided to wait at the Burger King next door since there's no area at the shop to wait. It took a bit longer (2 hrs) but not that big of a deal. I did ask to get the tires rotated in the middle of them fixing my car, so it's possible that caused the small delay. He didn't charge me any extra fees for the tire rotation. Great business with a good man named Ramsey (spelling might be wrong) running the operation. Their prices are real low, work is decent. Only knock off one star because they have a limited setup that only performs certain simple maintenance. I've been referred out by them multiple times for larger fixes (like transmission rebuild).
