The guy who performs the smog checks is thorough and efficient so much so I went back for a car repair. He was able to explain the issue in simple terms and as a female car owner I felt comfortable asking questions. He was very patient in answering. For smog checks it's a first come first serve basis, but on both occasions there were only one or two cars ahead of me and the wait wasn't that long. read more

The place was easy to find and not on a particularly busy street. He was in fact a grumpy old man but I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. There's no "good morning" or "thank you" but what can you expect for a place called Grumpy's? I told him I found him on yelp and he gave me a discount. He made some conversation with me. Very nice and pleasant technician, not at all Grumpy hahaha. All these snowflakes are way too sensitive these days. He's just a genuine old school dude working hard to make a living. He accused me of having my receipt and the yellow copy and I did not. He said he gave it to me and he did not. I signed the receipt for my credit card and I filled out and signed the form he gave me on the clipboard. After emptying out my purse and my pockets to show him I didn't have it , all of a sudden my receipt and the yellow copy appeared in his hand and he gave it to me. There are a LOT of smog places around. Grumpy gets the job done, but I've had it with his attitude. Yesterday I bring a car I just bought at auction and his first sentence is "oh, you brought me THAT?" followed by a lecture about how the seller should have smogged the car, etc. Then he tells me to come back the next day, even though he was open and had no cars in front of me. I am taking my business elsewhere, as it doesn't seem like he wants it much. read more

I called around to a few different star certified smog places that refused to smog my 1994 Chevy blazer. My truck is nothing special, but most of these places did not want to take the time to smog cars older than 2000. Grumpy did not have any issues taking the time to get my car smogged and sent me on my way once it passed. I will definitely be back with my other cars in the future. read more

Grumpy was extremely grumpy, as advertised. A little rude and offputting, but also did exactly what I needed him to do which was smog check my car without an appointment. Asked me why I ended up there and I said he's close to my house. I ended up there because I didn't go the other 385 feet to the Chatsworth Smog Center which is where I was headed. He didn't have a mask on which would bother me but I am vaccinated so unlikely to die from COVID. Can't say the same for him. read more

This was the worst engagement I've ever experienced. "Grumpy" walks up after I waited for a full 10 minutes with no one saying anything to me. He walks past me with attitude. I said to him "how are you". And he replied, "I was good until now". And I said "wow. I'm sorry. Am I responsible for that". And he replied, "yeah. I was about to go to the post office". So I said "well I'll go somewhere else so you can go to the post office" and he said "no I'll do it". So he's shaking his head and has attitude like I really did something to him. So he grabs his clipboard and says "why did you come here" so I said "for a smog check" and he shakes his head and looks down as if completely tired of the exchange and says "that's not the response I was looking forward! Didn't you get it? Did you see an ad? Did someone tell you about us?" And at that point I had enough and got back in my truck and told him to go to the post office. This is the worst exchange I've had with a merchant in years. He was rude and completely dismissive. If you want your bad day to be worse. Go there! read more
