We went for dinner. The atmosphere is loud and happy. There was a few parties going on. The pizza was delicious and what we expected. This is a fun location with a good menu. I enjoy supporting a local place with good food. Our server was very attentive. Definitely a good experience

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Foxhole!! The new owners have really turned this place around!! The food is delicious and so fresh. They had not only alcoholic beverages but also THC infused drinks for the people who are California sober like myself. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The decor is so spot with framed pictures of very elegant fox's on the wall and I love that they kept the original mural on the back wall! So do yourself a favor and give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!

Lovely underground Pub! The entrance is down several stairs, and when we went the seating was open so we sat at the bar to have drinks and some lunch: and when you go you must have the fried curds !! They're fresh, not frozen like a lot of other places, and are soooo good, crispy outside and gooey cheesy inside. I do love cheese, and I enjoyed these so much I had to order another portion D. had a 12" deep pan pizza with all the toppings I can't eat, like pepperoni and jalapeños, so I didn't taste it, but the crust was crispy-crunchy, even the bottom was crispy. It looked so delicious ; if we're up this way again I'll have to have more fried curds but I think a pizza just might have to find it's way to me. The barkeep was really nice, friendly, helpful - I'm sorry I didn't ask her name, since I like to mention people that are great - and made a very good Old Fashion while D. had a large Peroni beer. The pub was all festive for the holidays, several groups of people looked quite happy, celebrating and enjoying themselves. They were having a pub crawl (600 tickets already sold!) later that evening, followed by karaoke. We already had plans with our friends we're staying with, otherwise we would have joined them. Next time, folks We had a great time at the Foxhole Pub !

Dive-ish, pub located under ground with high tops seating, bar seating and regular tables. Service was good, standard and of course friendly. Everything we ordered was excellent. Classic Buffalo wings were nicely fried with a wonderful tangy buffalo sauce. Fries were crispy with a good amount of saltiness but the only pit, there wasn't enough. We definitely needed 2 orders of fries. Our table really enjoyed the Fox Hole classic pizza. Just a classic pizza done right. We also came here during happy hour on a Saturday so some of the drinks were half off.

loved that they framed the original painting on the wall

First time i visited was shortly after opening. The ac was not working so it was hot, server rushed us out and pizza was wrong (had red sauce not the olive oil ordered). I was underwhelmed to say the least. Gave them a second chance today and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. pizza was done as requested and was really tasty - love the crust! pretzel bites with beer cheese were yummy too! The ac made it pleasantly cool on this very hot day. Once again we got rushed out the door (again not crowded!?). Other than that - really good meal. Will be back!

Really enjoyed my brief time here. Nice and underground speakeasy style. Old school pizza smell aromas throughout. Highly cozy. Friendly staff. Interesting mural paintings. Should have ate the pizza. Rare Goose Island beer on tap

Burnt "deep dish" pizza was regular pizza with large crust. Not worth $40ish. Not going back.

Glad Fox Hole reopened! Newly remodeled with what I think is one of the best pizzas in McHenry. Service was good and love the Bruschetta!

We've been driving back-and-forth and we saw the building being beautifully rehabbed a year ago and…read morefinally it opened and we always wanted to give it a shot "sometime". We have heard mixed reviews, but not in the positive sense but we still wanted to give it a try because we like to keep the money local if possible. We always attempt to support our local restaurants and businesses nearby first beforehand. That "sometime" became today, and it was full of regret. The first thing we noticed is that the outside lamps were really dirty. Full of cobwebs... I mean Really dirty- and for a building in that new of a condition? That should have been a clue, but we decided to still give the courthouse a try. We had the margarita flatbread, which was OK and two Arnold Palmer's. After that, it all went downhill from there. We were given dirty napkins to eat with: yes it had food chunks & stains caked on it from the previous user we'd assume: Disgusting... But we didn't complain. Why? Because we thought it was a fluke... (dismiss- for now) The place was not busy at all. There was only one table other than us occupied, and three people sitting together at the bar and Abigail served us, but after the flatbread was served by the runner, she never checked on anything else (only asked if we were ready to order- okay -another pass) We noticed in between times) She was more interested being on her phone than the patrons who "could pay her way", and we waited for 40 minutes after our order had been placed to have something else to eat. Yes. It took that long: I ordered the steak burger (medium)and my wife ordered the 5 hot wings and we waited. And waited. No "pulse check"... we sat there waiting. On a Sunday.... We finally noticed that Abigail finally went back.... and then brought out our food, which was by that time: cold. We believe she knew it was out there, and yet she still served us. (Huge problem) My steak burger I asked for was overcooked and grey looking. It was under the light warmer- drying out while we waited I'd assume. She never told us why or suggested a refire...The cheese had dried under the heat lamp, so it is of our opinion the staff & Abigail forgot our order and let it sit out for at least 10 to 15 minutes under the heat lamp in the back. When it came out, the fries were overcooked and shriveled and again... they must have been sitting there for over 10 min or so, and it could've been longer for all we know...it was such a cold mess for burger, fries and wings.... heck, Culver's on RT 120 serves a quicker, tastier and way better deluxe burger than this place... And yet: After seeing this mistake, she still served us thinking we'd still eat it? We stated we didn't want the order anymore, (pointed out the issues) and instead of asking to maybe comp the flatbread (refire our meals again)or something like that (she could see we were not happy)or apologize for the mistake, she just told us that she just took off the burger and the hot wings and rang us up as if nothing happened and it was our fault we noticed this issue. It is our opinion that She did NOT care at all about the situation. As if we were bothering her to do her job that we came to visit to help inject money into the local business. She was totally disconnected, and in fact, she had taken a check from the table near us, and she had forgot to ring his check up. So he too, was waiting around for about 10 to 15 minutes with his son at the table, before she finally realized that she still had his credit card and hadn't ran it to be processed or debited.... We really wanted to give this place a nice try, but after this, we won't be back. Such a bad experience for a local business near us. What an utter disappointment.

Even the 'spicy' sauce for the tacos was bland. We had to request salt just to be able to eat what we ordered. However, the tableside guacamole and chips were good.

Date of visit: December 13, 2025…read more I love a good Mexican place, and as much as I enjoy Carlos's, it is good to have other options for when I go to visit my friend in the McHenry/Spring Grove area. The restaurant is very large with a variety of seating options including some interesting swings. I say interesting because it's really more of a novelty than anything; honestly, do you really want to have a seat that moves while you're eating chips with salsa? The menu is interesting, with a heavy focus on birria (think brisket, if you're unfamiliar) including in a dipped/fried taco as well as a grilled cheese sandwich, which is what I went with. While the meat in the sandwich was good, there was very little cheese to speak of, and that should be an important component of a grilled...cheese. However the chips and salsa were excellent, with some of the best chips I've had in quite some time, they really taste like more. In terms of the salsa, they are not lying with the "Diablo" in their name. If you are not a fan of spicy, stay away from the salsas as even the mild is fairly potent after a few chips. Also note that sour cream is available but doesn't tend to come WITH things by default, so be prepared to ask for that if it's a key part of your Mexican meals. Also disappointing, the tacos come with raw onions on top. This isn't mentioned on the menu, and was a very unwelcome addition to the dish. Service was a bit of a mixed bag; Jasmine was nice and attentive but struggled on some aspects, including telling us what the three salsas were when she brought them to the table, and saying that birria was a "biscuit," which thoroughly confused us. She asked if we wanted more chips and we declined, but then she brought more anyways.

Everything was great about this place and the hype is legit!…read more First off, the parking is great! A nice big free lot across the street. No need to find street parking. We walked in on a lazy Sunday post the lunch rush, around 2. I forget what burger I got, but it did not disappoint. Everyone who has said I need to check it out was tight. It was very good. The burger was flavorful and juicy. The toppings were fresh and the fries were tasty. Everything was great! I returned with my burger club and most guys liked it however, some got the burgers that had so much going on that your taste buds are in over drive. Just stick with a build your own burger and avoid all the crazy toppings and you'll love it.

We were in the area strawberry picking and wanted to find a local place for lunch. Based on Google…read morereviews, we chose DC Cobb's. I'm glad we didn't skip this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again.
