Sometimes they don't play well with others. Sometimes they want you to play their game. Sometimes they play their game poorly. Sometimes they blame you for it. Sometimes they're "simply having a bad day". Sometimes they want their "bad day" to be your "bad day". That's this Target store. Everyone else's bad day is all of a sudden your bad day. This being a small-footprint Target store, the foot traffic is going to be hyperlocal. The neighborhood is extremely unpleasant, and Chicago is one of those places where instead of selling a townhome for a loss, they'll simply leave it empty for their friends to stay in until the market rebounds. A lot of people go to Target for retail therapy. Unless your bad day is worse than their bad day, they'll make your bad day even worse.

Is there anything better than shopping at Target!? I am so happy a mini-Target opened so close to my home. It's much smaller than a normal Target not having things like clothing or house decor, but it has food items & personal care items plus a smattering of other random things. On my last visit I bought lemons & strawberries (the selection was fresh), heavy cream, milk (they had a ton of varieties), body wash, toothpaste, and cheese. So you can get anything you need here really. Employees are all insanely nice & helpful - this may be because it's still such a new Target! But right now, I'm loving it. The registers are all self check-out with one normal register each time I've gone in, but they are mostly there to help with self check out. Easy, breezy experiences every time I've gone here. A mini-Target within walking distance is a dream for me!

Once in, had to wait as they crowd control how many consumers can be in store at once. I was happy at the selection of shoes at this store. I found four pair of sneakers. Ended up pulling the trigger on two of them. Ultimately got a nice pair of Nike court vision shoes for $44. Very good deal. Additionally got a pair of Salomon Drx Bliss $44 (retail $160) shoes which are traditionally running shoes but they were a perfect fit. Neither shoe had a box. However I am keeping these so don't need a box. Overall good experience at the store. Several grooming items available and good selection of hard to find perfumes. Always wanted Sunflower by Arden and couldn't leave at store for $10.99. I also saw some White Diamonds perfume for sale which was a big hit back in the day.

They are excepting returns/exchange which is great because the knife set I picked up was not in the best condition. SN: The return/exchange line is seperated from each other. Now for the important part you have to wear a mask, social distantings is in place but some customers don't follow the rules. They have hand sanitizer in the front of the store and there was one at my register. They only allow a certain amount of people in the store at a time and they wipe down the carts. The dressing room is closed but you can return for now if it doesn't fit. The employees I interacted with very nice and with the two I talked to you could see their smile through their mask...I mean one of them did have a mask with a smile imprinted on it but was only a positive. As for Family Dollar locations in general I consider them a lower…read moretier smaller branch of a Walmart or Target; carrying similar items, but slightly lower in quality. I love them because you can always find them throughout the city which makes it slightly more convenient to find more than a Walmart or Target. I tend to purchase the typical hygiene & cleaning items at Family Dollar locations, such as shaving cream, deodorant, hair grease, soap, mean green, bleach, etc. I have even purchased food items at Family Dollar locations which it carries the basics, but nowhere near as much as a Walmart. As for this location, it's convenient to me because I live right down the street from it. I can always find simple things to cook, plus the hygiene items that I lack which all are at affordable prices. However, what annoys me about this location are the panhandlers, plus the "blue square" (Newport Cigarette) sellers that are always in the parking lot which I do not even make eye contact with while heading in the store. This store is a huge plus for the East Garfield Neighborhood because there are so many things that the neighborhood lacks, but at least there is a Family Dollar in the neighborhood and from what I see it is relatively new. No complaints on my end, I'am always greeted once I enter and I always have been treated with respect as a customer, plus things are always organized when I shop here. Thomas G

However, the same issues still exist. They never have anything on the shelves....Never. Every time I come in, there are piles and piles of boxes in the aisle. I assume they are always in the process of stocking the shelves, but never really complete the task. Also, all the brands that I buy are behind the cash register. It's so annoying that I can't enjoy smelling the different scents of Dove soap. Family Dollar is great because it almost gives you the luxury of shopping in like a Target or Wal-Mart without having to leave your neighborhood. It also gives you that dollar store experience. Overall, it's great to have this store in a low income neighborhood, because it allows the neighbors to purchase items to clean their homes. However, it's hard shopping there sometimes.

As one of Dollar Tree's avid customers, I identified this location while enroute to my destination…read more I always try to keep somewhat of a picture memory of things that I need or low on such as body wash, dish soap, tissue, shelf milk, cleaning supplies, shelf foods, bubble line poly mailing envelopes, etc. So that if I encounter a Dollar Tree enroute to wherever, I can visit at anytime to purchase what I need. During my visits I just have to raid its snack zone which has everything my taste buds desire. Being that I have visited many throughout Chicago and Chicagoland I know that many of the stores differ slightly in what products they have stocked in comparison. The first thing I took notice of immediately upon entering was its olive green carpet on the floor, which many other locations do not have carpet period. Other than that, its isles were stacked similar but slightly arranged different in comparison to others. I say arrange differently because it took me a few seconds to identify where the body wash was located due to its arrangement of its sections. Items I encountered that took me by surprise were the Family size box of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios, and the Chicago Cubs note pads, which both were items I never have encountered at any other locations. There may be a few other items that differ, but those are what I took notice of during my visit. I have no complaints about the customer service or the timeline of my wait in line because the wait is one thing I expect, being that everything is sold for only a dollar. And I'm quite aware that the time you visit comes in to play also, so you will rarely hear me complaining about a long wait in line. My suggestion is that you visit when you do not have anywhere to be at the spare of the moment, so that you are not pressed for time in case you have along wait. Being that I visit others near where I work, or near my neighborhood I cannot say that I will not visit this location again.
