I am a shopaholic and spend a lot of my time going to all the T.J.Maxx's in the area as well as when I go on vacation. This T.J. Maxx in Bloomingdale holds the distinction of being the worst TJ Maxx I've ever been to. Not only is the store always a mess, with many of the clothes not in the correct area, but the lines are always long and never enough cashiers. The lines are always ridiculously long. The longer I stand in line the longer I contemplate leaving everything and just walking out. 2 cashiers on a Monday night at 7:30....line that made a full Z. I have been in line for over 30 mins. Employees walking behind counter and not getting on a register to assist customers. I live close to this one. It's always a shit show in here. I'll avoid this place from now on. Nothing is displayed nicely. Never enough registers open. This store needs to Hire people that can work the hours they are busy. This location is a bit more picked over than other locations in the general area (clothes-wise). There are a lot of clearance items (women's clothes-wise). The line at this location is also generally long and takes a while. It is a HomeGoods/Tj-maxx though, so there are a lot of different things you are able to shop for. The service I would say is like anywhere else. The physical location of the store is nice though, as you also have Hobby Lobby, PetSmart, Burlington's, and other stores in the same plaza. read more

For everyone complaining about the new location for one there are typically a lot of employees but only the Tjmax workers run registers and homegoods is run separate and yes the lines are long bc it's a combo store but workers are trying their best and leaving your carts abandoned in the store is part of the problem because employees have to take their time to clean up abandoned stuff from ignorant people like yourselves. And yes it is going to be more busy after 5 or so when most people are getting off their jobs it is common sense that it's going to be a tad busier so don't take it out on employees that are just working there and yelling at them they need to get on register. read more

I am a long-time TJ Maxx shopper but I will not shop at this store anymore. The checkout lines are long every single time I went there, which was usually in the early afternoon during the week. It looks like they have a lot of people working but apparently there aren't enough because the line is longer than they've even given it space for. There were at least 15 people waiting today when I walked out before even starting to shop. I've talked to a manager there and he suggested coming first thing in the morning or at the very end of the day. Thanks but no thanks, I just don't want to shop then. I have gone to the store in St. Charles and it is not nearly as crowded but since it doesn't have the HomeGoods side, it's not as good of a store. I really hope they can figure out some solution to this problem because I think it is driving shoppers away. read more

This was a very nice location. It doesnt seem that big when you walk towards the entrance but as soon as you enter it looks huge. It's very spacious where you arent really bumping into anyone at every part of the store. They had a lot of product in each section. The staff were pretty nice and the line moved along pretty well. This new location is a headache. I was just there Mon 10/16, at 645 p.m., and waited in line for 25 minutes--13 Checkouts and only four open. TJ Maxx and Home Goods are known for an earlier holiday rush than most stores, and it usually starts in Oct.. Registers 1, 2, and 7 were crazy slow, while lines 5 and 6 were the only two moving. There were several moments where no registers opened up for over 5 minutes. Once I was up, the salesgirl at reg 2 was having a casual convo with a customer who went on about how he worked at the Palatine location for years. There is zero rush or urgency on the sales girls' part despite crazy lines. Finally, it was my turn for reg 2. I had my card out for my three items, and the saleslady took her sweet time finding bags & striking up a convo with the next register. She stood there with the receipt dangling as if I was not standing with my bag in hand, ready to leave! I had to grab it from her hand as I heard her muffled "have a nice day" as I rushed out the door. No one has 25 minutes to stand in line for lazy customer service with no regard for the aggravated customers. They need to bring the St. Charles management to this store to train reps on moving a line. I shop at that location several times a month, and long lines move fast! Managers direct traffic if it gets too long, and the staff moves accordingly. read more

They had a lot of cute stuff but guessing from how long the line was wrapped around the wait would be very long to check out. But it is the holiday season as well as a Sunday when I went. This location has since moved to Gary Av. across from Stratford Square. Nice store, always well stocked , clean and organized. The problem is the checkout line! Almost every time I go there, any day or time of day, the checkout line is horrendous! I was there yesterday at 3:00 PM, wanted to make a return, and saw the line, which was no lie, at least 40 people deep! I walked right out! They have probably 10-12 registers to use, but most of them aren't open. Now when shopping in the store, you see plenty of employees stocking, etc. why not page as many of those employees you can, to come up and help check out customers when the line gets long? I've worked in retail for 47 years, and that's what we do when the checkout lines get long. I can go to just about any other TJMaxx, and the line is never as bad as it is at this location! Makes me think twice about shopping here!!! read more

This location is a hit or miss in comparison to others. At times, they are well stocked and there are plenty options and then other times, it reminds you of a swap meet. I am a fan of discounted options in an organized setting. So, this is always my preference over a huge shopping mall when I know what I am looking for. I went in on this visit in search of a woman's computer tote. There was nothing even close. A ton of purses, but no totes. There were even no computer cover or inserts. I looked at shoes because women can never have too many shoes. There were lots of nice footwear but the prices were horrible. If you want to spend $50-$100 for shoes, you can buy them on discount in season at the mall. TJ Maxx used to offer great fashion at affordable prices. read more

There are great great savings to be found at this store. I have found some great steals in the men's apparel section. My wife finds steals all the time also. Check the website for anything new. If you go on a weekend expect long lines and you will need to wait accordingly. Checking out can be a pain, again, because of the long lines. The cashiers and other workers do a good job in my opinion. They keep a smile on their faces. The store is kept clean. Went to two different locations and this one said said the total in my gift card was nine cents and went to the other they said $64. Inexperienced workers don't know what the hell they're doing. I love shopping in Home Goods however there are always exceptions. This Tj Max/Home Goods is horrible. Very messy, things all over the floor I actually could not go through one of the aisles there were towels on the floor and seat covers. Staff very rude and give you attitude when asked. Hard to get to fitting room, shopping carts all over. Fitting rooms messy and things all over. I waited 25 min in line to pay. Once I got to cashier she was taking the security tag of the luggage and lost the price tag. I told her where I found it so she could get the price. Instead of calling someone to get the price the manager said that I could wait and the cashier can go herself and find it. She found some other luggage for $59.99 however when she came back manager stated that the price is to low and she needs to find something more expensive. I told the cashier that there are other luggages like the one I picked just different color. She again went back got smaller luggage for $69.99 and per manager she can give me the luggage for $79.99. The price tag on the luggage was originally $59.99 and they wanted me to pay $79.99 I waited total of 40 min. The manager was really rude and disrespectful. At the end I waisted 2hours of my day and left the store empty handed. Will not return to this location. Be aware of what they trying to charge you and what is on the price tag. read more

Honestly, this place isn't the best. They never have anything new. I've lived in the neighboring city for 7 months and each month I go in hoping for some new doctor and clothes but it's always the same. They have open and destroyed product all over the place and don't clean it up very often. I also asked a lady if I could have her unlock a purse for me to try on in a mirror, but she said if I was prepared to take it to the counter she would but she wouldn't unlock it just for me to see what it would look like on me. Sigh. I would love to say this place was fantastic because when it comes to the products and the prices, it is. However, they lost my full support when it came to their employees. It was a weekday evening and the store was relatively empty. When we approached the checkout line, there was nobody in front of us. There were two cashiers, one had a customer, the other had just finished up with someone and so I approached the counter. She was not paying attention to me and was amidst a conversation with the other cashier. That is annoying enough but the fact that she was talking at full volume about some gossip-like story, dropping F bombs was amazingly inappropriate. To ring up my two products, totaling less than $5, took her almost five full minutes. Why? Because she never once looked at us, never once stopped talking, and never once thought better than to stop what she was doing and make obscene gestures to accompany her story. So I hear what you are thinking - one bad egg does not determine the success of a store. Once a manager catches wind of this, she will be canned. Well, I'm hear to tell you I have no confidence in this being the case. Why? Because the manager was standing no more than 10 feet away and was snickering at some of the comments as she folded clothes. Will I return to this TJMaxx/Homegoods? Sure. Because a few minutes of bad behavior by an employee is a small price to pay for the deals that can be found there. read more

I am not a big fan of this "hunt and peck" type of store. You go through the racks, find something you like and then it's not your size. Most of the time stuff is just thrown around and not replaced in the correct area. That was not the case with this store. Everything was very organized. I had a $10 gift card to spend here, so I made the trip. I browsed the clothing racks, but couldn't find anything that I wanted to try on. Then I went over to the Christmas stuff and found some great items. I got 2 packages of chocolate covered oreos! When I went to check out, the manager approached me and asked if I found what I was looking for. She said they were striving to get good ratings on their surveys and asked me if I would complete one. What I love most about this store is that the merchandise isn't made specifically for discount meaning the quality is just as good as a high end department store at half the price. I love this TJ Maxx and am so lucky to live close by. They have a great selection of clothing items and household goods. The selection and quality of both has seemed to improve over the past few years. New Buyers? They have good choices at the jewelry counter as well. I have been to several other locations, including Schaumburg, South Elgin, Hoffman Estates and OakBrook and the Bloomngdale location on Army Trail is the best by far. The only reason I am giving it a four is that there are always long checkout lines especially on weekends . Sometimes there are several people behind the counter, but they doing other tasks and not assisting with checkout. The employees overall are friendly and helpful. read more

This is THE PLACE to go if you want a wardrobe from a high-end department store like Nordstrom, but at 75% off. If your'e on a mission to snag some designer steals (I always am when I come here), forget sifting through the racks of clothes in the middle of the store - those are mid-level brands at super-low prices. Instead, hit the small racks on the right side of the store, starting across from the jewelry island when you walk in. Here I've found plenty of Juicy Couture (75% off), a black cropped blazer from Marciano (80% off), Seven jeans (50% off), and plenty of clothing from Splendid, Velvet, C&C California, Michael Kors, and tons of other designers I can't remember at the moment. The trick is to know which brands are the high-end ones ahead of time so you know which items to pluck off the racks and whisk into the dressing rooms (which, by the way, now allow 8 items at a time - pleasing news to closet bargain shoppers like myself). Other random tidbits: *The swimsuit section is AMAZING and could have come straight from Neiman Marcus. I got bikinis from Betsey Johnson and Trina Turk on my last trip for $50 (regularly each $200+) and only through extreme self-restraint was able to resist buying more. *The athletic apparel section is probably the best-kept secret. Now, I love me some Lululemon, but this is a great alternative when you realize you're broke but still craving more obnoxiously cute gym outfits. They have a ton of Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc. for $10 and up. These items are definitely a steal. *The purse section is fantastic - a ton of stuff that's also sold at Macy's and Nordstrom, e.g. Betsey Johnson, B Makowsky, Guess, Juicy Couture, Le Sportsac. These are typically 50% off, and while they still seem expensive, they're ultimately great bargains. *The shoe section is yet another must-see. You'll find Coach, Jessica Simpson, BCBG, Juicy Couture, Boutique 9, Born, Guess, etc. Prices are very reasonable, about 60% off for in-season shoes. *The office supply, home accents, and home decorating sections contain a lot of very high-quality items for, yet again, ridiculously low prices. I go here when I'm looking to redecorate or spice up my place with sharp-looking accents. Tons to choose from. Finally, if you end up visiting all these sections and end up racking up a huge bill (ahem), consider getting the store credit card that day - it'll save you 10% on your purchase. I do really love this store. It's a reminder that I don't need to blow $200 on a cardigan at Neiman's - I can just get it at TJ Maxx for $39.99. Shhhh. read more

LOVE TJ Maxx ! Avid shopper online and in store. I always spend at least 2 hrs going from dept to dept. Always modern latest styles and their prices are unbeatable & cheap selling same items and designers as Saks, Nordstrom, etc. Store is clean and organized but is more busy and disarrayed on the weekend. Salespeople are always really nice and they never give you hard time with returns or exchanges. The TJ maxx's in the city are nightmares but this location is fabulous. Excellent store. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love TJ Maxx. What I don't love is how disorganized they are. Earlier this month I gave an application to one employee (I believe her name was Glosy) since the hiring manager wasn't in. She didn't really seem to know what was going on, so I had a slight feeling that it wouldn't make it to the hiring manager immediately. I called asking the manager if he ever received it, turns out he never did, my suspicions were correct. I also know someone who has worked here at this specific store and they said she was awful. Probably lost it somewhere behind the counter. Please find staff that are responsible and aware of what they are doing! read more
