This was my second time going to Dean Anthony Salon, and I can honestly say it was the best haircut I've ever had! I've seen Veronica before, and for my most recent visit I had Becky--both were amazing. When I saw Veronica, I got a partial balayage and it turned out so beautiful. She blended the highlights seamlessly with my natural color, and it looked super natural and dimensional. It grew out really nicely too, which I loved. I have long, thick hair, which can be hard to manage, so it's not easy finding someone who can cut it straight and really take good care of it. But Dean Anthony Salon consistently does a great job! Becky paid such close attention to detail and absolutely nailed both the cut and the styling. My hair feels so healthy and looks exactly how I wanted. I'll definitely be coming back again! The vibe of the salon is also amazing--very classy and chic. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted warmly and even offered drinks, which makes the whole experience feel elevated and relaxing. I contemplated this review for months now. I had a bad experience at this salon. I have curly hair, and at the time of haircut it was 12+ inches long. Literally my first haircut in about 4 years. But I wanted to go short, a little shorter than shoulder length + with bangs. So upon making the appointment, we asked for someone with experience working with curly hair. We were told that every stylist has 10+ years of experience, and we were given an appointment with a stylist (I'm blanking on her name right now). At the appointment, I showed the inspo pics and repeatedly asked "do you have experience cutting curly hair?" And she told me something along the lines of "oh yeah I've been cutting hair for years" (this went off as a red flag for me idk). She cut off about 12in length at my request, and everything was downhill from there. After the botching, she washed my hair and barely styled it (curly-haired people know how much it takes to style it). And didn't even fully dry it. I left the salon looking like a knockoff Inigo Montoya. The stylist herself was extremely nice and easy to talk to, but it's an unfortunate situation where being nice isn't the service requested, nor the service being paid (a pretty penny btw) for. I literally cried to my family about how embarrassing it looked, couldn't even take pictures of myself. I had curly MICROBANGS. And some strands were so uneven to the area next to them (like I literally had a group of hairs that were almost an inch shorter than the group surrounding it in the section). Girl--be serious. Thank god it's grown out a bit now. Besides the botched hair, I'm so peeved that for the cost, I walked out with unstyled and still wet hair. Bffr. I seriously think this stylist does not have sufficient experience with curly hair. Rating 1 star solely on the haircut + no style or dry. The customer experience is nice. But this is a hair salon, and I'm rating based off my hair. read more

But it communicated so much about whether or not I'm valued as a client. I had a disappointing experience here with Michelle W, before my appointment, I clearly explained my hair type over the phone dark curly hair (receptionist) and was told it wouldn't be an issue. However, when I arrived, it felt like the stylist was either uncomfortable or didn't have the experience to work with my hair. Instead of being upfront, I was told there wasn't enough time, which came across as dismissive given the prior conversation. I was completely open to suggestions and flexible, so the situation felt frustrating and honestly a bit offensive. I think it's important for salons to be transparent about their experience with different hair types so clients don't feel turned away or unwelcome. Clients deserve honesty and respect--if certain hair types aren't within your expertise. Also if you take 50 percent of cancelled appt then what do you give me back for my wasted time? read more

I had such a great first experience here! From the very beginning, everything felt welcoming and easy. I actually made a scheduling mistake and missed my original appointment, but they were so understanding and accommodating. They found an opening for me at their 2nd Street location and were incredibly gracious about the mix-up, which I really appreciated. The entire staff was friendly and helpful--especially when it came to navigating parking (which, as you probably know, can be a challenge on 2nd Street!). If I could give zero stars, I would. This salon and its academy feel very unprofessional. I had a color consultation and haircut appointment scheduled, but it was canceled even though I arrived 30 minutes early. Thankfully, one stylist, Veronica, was kind enough to offer me her free consultation after noticing how upset I was. However, when I tried to book an appointment with her, the mean staff and cruel manager refused, said she was not allowed to give you consultation more than 15 minutes. I noticed it and disagreed, then Michelle, the owner, punished me to never come back!! Based on my very special experience, I would not recommend booking with Levels 1-4 at all at this salon. No basic skills up to level 5 was seen. I would call their level 5 as level 1. The manager, Michelle, came across as disrespectful toward both stylists and new clients, and overall the environment felt more focused on money than customer care. read more

Girls with bangs: watch out. I was looking forward to getting my hair cut for the holidays, and set up an appointment with Baky. For reference, I have two long bangs that frame my face. Baky told me one of them was shorter than the other, and asked if I would like to make them the same length. I responded yes. A few days later after washing my hair, I realized my shorter bang had been cut much shorter, to the point where people started noticing and telling me. I have had multiple friends and family ask where I got my hair cut as a result, and it is getting embarrassing. Additionally, I have noticed my hair is much thinner on the ends than it has ever been. I had had to meet with my dermatologist as a result and purchase daily supplements to help my hair regrow. I reached out through email to the salon, and have attached their response. I'm also attaching the three photos I sent them of my hair as they repeatedly said they could not see what was wrong in my photos. One photo is of my natural hair, one is with my natural hair and the bangs isolated in front, and one is with my hair straightened. It is very obvious that the hair is cut incorrectly. The salon has refused to admit their mistake and has refused to issue a refund. I am disappointed as I have had an unsatisfactory haircut in the past, but they graciously apologized and issued a refund. read more

I just paid $84 for a blow dry. Yes, you read this correctly. $84. Website says blow dry is $59. A "luxury" blow dry is $74. No idea what makes it a "luxury"but I definitely didn't receive that. in addition, I came into the salon with my hair already washed, but that wasn't taken into consideration when they charged me. When I questioned the cost, there was not a response. I just simply said " I can't believe you're charging that much". Crickets. As I was paying, I said, "unfortunately, I cannot afford this again" and the response was "I'm sorry to hear that,". It's obvious that Dean Anthony salon caters to the wealthier clientele.
