This review is for Rizza, who did Grey Hair blending for me. I'm coming to terms with my gray/silver hairs and asked Rizza if she could do Grey blending for me. This can be hard to do, especially since I have ethnic hair and about a decade of vivids, henna color, and other experiments in my hair. I came in with blue and purple fun hair. This is my hair after two sessions and she's done a great job delivering on Grey blending. She found an ashy beige that would work with blending in with my silvers. She really understands color. I asked for a V shape cut with layers and That is not what I got even tho I showed her an example picture, I was left with a v shape cut and no layers. Even after going back and asking her to add more layers she trimmed a few hairs and left it the same. I had to go down the street to get it fixed by a different salon. I wasn't going to leave a review bc not much positive feedback to give! First, I'm not novice at hair styling techniques and terminologies and this got me in trouble. I barely sat in the chair and was sent to shampoo before I could explain what I was wanting. A short convo and she had her scissors in hand. I wanted a modern shag. I could tell immediately she was not giving me a shag but a common long hair soft layers. I had to say STOP! And I tried again to explain I wanted a shag and that there was too much weight leaving long hair giving me that triangle look. I stopped her a second time and she called over a co worker who then showed her what to take off in the back~ a good 2"! But she had a hard time. I began to say it needs to be peicy and cut into! I was so frustrated and sorry I ever went there! By the way, I went there to pay for a special cut and pay more! My hair has no style after a wash and now I'm looking for a stylist who can clean it up! Never again. read more

Adorable salon that is easy to miss, but you shouldn't because Laura works here. I've been to Laura twice now: once for a cut (a trim and an undercut) and a second time for highlights and lowlights. UPDATE: In response to the owners reaponse to my review, I could see that there is no ownership from anyone here. It seems if you're not a regular client any new customers are not taken seriously. Regarding the layers, I never said I wanted four. She said she would make one long layer. This is where the problem may be. In any case, it's a matter of she said vs. she said. Regarding the mildew, it seems your directing blame at me when I've never had this issue in my life. Please revisit your practices. My hair smelled like mildew after I left my appointment that I had to immediately shower when I got home. Not sure if it's the towels, capes, or tools used. I got a cut by Vanessa (@nesa_shearz) yesterday and was very unhappy when I saw my hair in its original state a day later. My hair was left very bulky and now it looks like a triangle. I told her from the beginning that I wanted to thin out my hair and get a lot of the weight off. I'm growing out an A-line cut and we settled on just a trim. She said she would make it even and I made it clear I didn't want a blunt cut. Well, after she was done it looked more like a blunt cut even though she added a layer. I emphasized that I wanted my hair textured and point cut since I have a lot of hair and this helps thin out my hair. She may have done some thinning but it wasn't enough and I didn't notice this at the salon since it was straightened from the blow dry. I texted her this morning letting her know that my hair looks very bulky after washing and drying and that I was unhappy. I asked if I could get a partial refund since I have to pay to get it fixed elsewhere. She said no and claimed she did what I asked for. There was no accountability or effort to make the situation right. I expected a professional and customer-focused response but was met with dismissiveness and her wishing me the best of luck. I'm disappointed that I'll have to spend more money to get this nearly $100 trim fixed. I was also not a fan of the required waiver form at time of booking. I called the salon to let them know I wouldn't be signing it. I've never heard of having to sign a waiver/release form to get a hair cut. read more

Only giving it two stars instead of one because I did find a stylist named Emily who no longer works there. And she's amazing. I booked through yelp, requested Belmont heights. They scheduled me at Belmont shore. Due to this I was late to my appointment. It was with Luna. She was a little taken back by me being late even though I communicated. I told her I wanted a long bob like in 2015, and went to take a photo out and she said "oh I already know" Now mind you- I am a stylist myself and was a manager for 15 years. I also took a photo out with the hair color I wanted and she said "oh I don't like that on you, this blonde is so much better". I mentioned it twice and each time she tried to convince me my choice wasn't good. Then the haircut, she cut it 1 inch too short which is a big deal. I was proposing to my girlfriend the next day. The kicker? She "color corrected" my hair with bleach ONLY. No toner. I asked twice and she said "I don't have your toner". She also told me far into the service "I only take cash". So I had to go to an atm which had a draw fee AND limit and had to split three cards. My bleached untoned hair barely lifted from what she did. She kept complaining about people being late because of the poor communication on the locations. I didn't personally feel a connection either. I should have never got the color done. I messaged the owner/account runner to give this feedback before posting it. Offered to fix it, but can't grow hair back. And to get a color done again while the stylist doesn't get paid. (I've been in the industry 15 years. I know how upset these stylists get, the drama, and gossip and it makes it uncomfortable to accept getting it fixed. I understand this is MY experience and not everybodies so the take away here- Do not blindly book based off the owner's recommendation. Always research the artist, prices, experience and demeanor. read more

So why 2 stars? Well it's simple I came here for the first time hoping to like it here. I came and asked for highlights . And the girl said partial would be good. So we went for it. I was here for 7 hours and no highlights. My hair was super dark. I went home and came back two days later. This time she fixed it and it was nice. The stylist unfortunately needs more practice. I was hungry, tired and wasted too much of my time. This should have never happened. When I reached out to the owner she basically said I was in good hands and I'd be fine. She asked if I wanted to get it fixed I'd be charged extra if someone else had to do it. So will I be back absolutely not! No biggie, what threw me off was that my stylist said she's been doing this for nearly 35 years and left me with what looked like a "line up" and let me walk out like this. I requested a hair project through Yelp and Laura responded quickly. I was on a hunt for a good hairstylist to help me fix my hair asap. My hair was orange, brassy and dry. The place is clean but the business is like not normal. They have to schedule the hairstylist as they are not always there hence make an appt. I scheduled for 10am and I was not seen until 2pm possibly even 3pm I was there all day long my whole Saturday wasted. My experience here was not that good and its expensive as heck. The place is cheek but small- not like a regular salon. Not coming back again. The gray coverage was alright but still not enough to make me go back there or refer people. EDIT: The color only took about 45mins to one hour BUT the reason I was there for such a long time (all day) was becuase the stylist was not ready. No product on hand like normal salons. Vanessa is truly a lifesaver! I contacted the salon because I realized my roots were starting to show right before I left for a conference. I also wanted a Brazilian blowout for ease of hair maintenance. Within a couple of hours, Susan (who is also a rockstar!) had me booked with Vanessa for an appt time that was super convenient.
