I'd met Stephanie a couple of years before at an art event and have since run into her around town and knew her to be a really cool person. Stephanie is amazing! She took my dry, frizzy hair and made it feel oh-so-soft. She is the only hairdresser I've had who didn't go overboard with the words "just a trim." I asked for just the dead ends to be gone and she snipped away, revealing healthy and strong ends. She finished her beautiful work with a CBD molecular mender by Leaf + Flower (highly recommend) and managed to tame all my frizz. I love that she uses natural, better-for-you hair products. Shannon did my daughter's hair from prom and even though her hair was freshly straightened and washed, was able to pull off my daughter's dream hairdo! The theme was Old Hollywood Film Noir! Shannon did a wonderful 40s era look with a jeweled hairpin we brought. The salon is also moving towards being green and environmentally conscious! Instead of paper towels to dry your hands in the bathroom, they use cloth hand towels with a little basket for laundry! Aaron is hands downs the best! He can make sex to your hair lol! I have been going to him for about 5 or 6 years now and he never disappoints me. He stays up to date with all the new and latest trends and styles and will honestly work you to get the look you want. I find that time flys by with him because we have the best conversations and laugh our butts off! The studio is cute the other stylists are really friendly and so informative on helpful tips, tho I would go anywhere for him lol. I never feel like I'm being sold to and always walk out happy and feeling good. I have about 7 of my friends and family members that go to him now and they all love him, haha even my husband! I visited Envy salon on July 10th to get glammed up for my husbands 50th birthday party. Stephanie did my hair and Cesar did my makeup. I chose this salon as it was close to our event venue, and their products are eco friendly. I'm usually a no fuss girl, so doing my own hair and makeup was out of the question. I was lucky enough to get my hair cut by Leah! She's seriously amazing at what she does and actually listens to what you want. I usually hate getting my hair cut but she changed that. I walked in here as a reference... I was doing a process to becoming blonde and my hair was a bit orange because of the process but still long and full... I wanted to tone down the orange (which I knew was part of the process) and apparently the owner told Cindy to give me a number 4 in bleach. Not even taking the time to look at my hair and the condition of hair or type of hair I had. I was then told This is the highest amount of bleach. I've been in deep depression for 7 months. I have no hair left- my hair is chopped and fried above my ears. I had to dye it dark again after doing a 4 month process the RIGHT way to get to blonde. I just wanted to tone down the color with no damage like I SPECIFICALLY asked for. I had hair to the middle of my back. If it couldn't be done or I wish they would of at least told me they couldn't do it without damage. I have been under weekly hair treatments, no hot tools, just treatments only! And still nothing works! I should of just waited till my original hair stylist got back from vacation. Yes my hair was a bit orange but I understood that was part of the process. I don't even want to leave my house- I feel so ugly. Please be careful if you want to dye your hair blonde here. I Wasn't even going to write a review but everyone that seen my hair said I should-at least hopefully save someone from this happening to them. Every time someone that knows me sees me- they put their hand to their mouth because they can't even believe it's me or what was done to my hair. My hair is so damage and broken and short that'll it'll most likely take 5 years to repair... I'm in tears as I write this. I found this salon through Yelp. I called earlier this morning and was able to make an appointment for later in the afternoon with Cindy. I am growing out a pixie cut and I need a simple haircut to even it out. Growing out a pixie causes your hair to grow in different lengths so you have to cut it until it is all one length. I found parking fairly easy outside on the street - metered parking. I walked in and was greeted right away by a couple of ladies. The salon is well decorated and chic. The receptionist immediately knew who I was and quickly was seated with Cindy. I sat with Cindy and explained what was going on, what I needed, and showed her several example pictures. Cindy washed my hair and we got started. She was literally cutting about a centimeter - which wasn't doing anything to level out my growing pixie. I was immediately concerned and explained again what I needed. She cut my hair again and again cut another centimeter and again not meeting what I needed. I pointed out the different sections of my hair and how the top part was shorter while the back part was longer and I needed to bring those two closer together. Cindy decided to blow dry it and then assured me that she would fix it. After another go at it and me clearly not satisfied the owner of the salon, Shannon stepped in. I explained to Shannon what I came for, showed her the pictures, and that I wasn't getting that. Shannon explained to Cindy what to do - start cutting at the back and move to the front. So Cindy starts cutting and starts from the front! At this point I made it clear that I was not happy and that I was not there as an experiment. Shannon took over. By that point my hair was completely uneven - shorter on on side, longer on another side, and shorter on another side. I had put an an hour and twenty minutes on the meter and I was still not done (I usually spend an hour at the salon). Shannon asked Cindy to put two more quarters in the meter. After more cutting I was finally done. It wasn't exactly what I came for but it was as close as I was going to get at this salon. I'm glad Shannon stepped in and made it better but needless to say I was not happy with Cindy's lack of abilities in cutting hair and will more than likely not come back. read more

This artsy hair salon/studio is conveniently located in art district of downtown Long Beach. Aaron is a very talented stylist and he is nothing short of awesome! He is now my go-to stylist. I always ask for "wash & ware" cut & color that fits my carefree lifestyle; and it always turns out gorgeous & PERFECT! Without having to spend a lot of time "caring", my hairstyle still looks great for a very long time. There is nothing like getting a great haircut for a reasonable cost from a highly talented artist/stylist. I've tried few other stylists from different salons but nobody can beat Aaron thus far. I've been getting the Brazilian Blowout for a few years. The problem is that I see 3 different stylists for brazilian, color, cut. I've been trying to find a person that can do all 3 for years to cut my time and effort down. I did some research and found Envy online. I know I'm persnickety about my hair so I called to ask questions and make an appt with the owner who I read about. The girl (Shannon) that picked up the phone asked if I would mind seeing her. I didn't think that was really appropriate and it caught me off guard. However, she seemed knowledgable and I really didn't now what to say so I agreed. However, I'm used to seeing very senior people and I could tell she wasn't (first mistake). With a Brazilian it's all about technique. Shannon did a terrible job. I actually left with curls in my hair still. I had to have my regular guy in BH do it over a few weeks later. Second I wanted some specific highlights and when I left they looked like 70's frosted. I had to pay a ton of money to get those re-done in West Hollywood and when done they were pure perfection. The salon was cute and everyone was really friendly. I think if you just need a hair cut or single process it might be fine but for the experienced hair consumer you probably wouldn't be happy. I was trying to save money but when it comes to hair it's about technique and you really do get what you pay for. An expensive lesson learned! read more

I had been researching and asking for recommendations for a hair salon in Long Beach. I have lived in So Cal for 9 years and had been going to a great person in OC for years, but I had grown tired of traveling so far for a haircut and highlights when I knew I could find someone great closer to home. I had walked by Envy Beauty Studio several times and then after reading all of the wonderful reviews, I called and made an appointment with Shannon. I had not had a haircut or highlights done since August and was unsure if I wanted to get color on my first appointment as I have had bad experiences with trying someone new in the past, them not listening to what I wanted in terms of color and cut and my hair looking awful after leaving the salon. However, this was not the case when sitting in Shannon's chair. Shannon is amazing - she really listens to what you want and then gives her professional recommendation as to best achieve those results. I love, love, love how my hair turned out. The color is amazing and I finally love my hair right after being cut as with my last person, it would take a few days for it to grow on me or for it fall into place before I could like it. My fiance also loved my hair when I got home. I am finally able to wear my hair down without feeling the need to put in a ponytail right after styling it every morning. The salon itself is super cute and the owner has done such a great job decorating the unique space. I booked another appointment. I've had my hair done three times here now, last two with Aaron. I wanted to review him last time but he told me to wait until he'd done my hair at least twice. The first time I came in with a hack-job of highlights and layers and he masked it wonderfully, he managed to smooth out the choppy layers I came in with and suggested balayage to mask the chunky highlights. It turned out so well! I went to him again last week and let him do his thing, and with minimal guidance, he brought my color up, expertly blended the blonde with my natural roots, and even after bleaching, kept my length minus only about half an inch. Full color + cut was $150 for me, which for the quality (and my amount of hair) I consider a great price. On top of his talent with hair, conversation with Aaron comes easily, he is welcoming, charming, and always offers me a glass of wine to quell my nerves (I've had bad hair experiences in the past). Overall it's a cute little salon, with a homey feel, and everyone who works there (that I have met anyways) is welcoming and friendly. Great price for the quality! read more

Stephanie runs a great shop! I love her. She is always happy and is always so welcoming to everyone that walks through the door, even if she doesn't know you. Shannon always listens to what I want to have done with my hair and does it, with flying colors. I have never had a hair stylist that I can fully trust with my hair and now I do!! I started with my hair just passed my bra strap, then went to a length a little longer than my shoulders, then went about 3 inches shorter, and then finally went to an A-line cut. She was confident and knew what she was doing. She also colors my hair (is always so informative of what will stay and what will be a lot of maintenance) and did my first brazilian blowout, which I L.O.V.E.! Sure my hair is short, but it makes styling so much easier since I can't pull it up in sections anymore. haha. I have nothing but good things to say about this salon. They listen to the customer, they are nice, and they are informative. If you've had a problem with this salon, then you must have been having a shitty day and you must be bitter with the world.
