Called Deane Electric to replace ceiling fan, and fix wall socket. Specifically asked for same team used 4 months earlier. Requested an estimate as well (1st time was 2 men 2hours $275). When repairman came he was alone, and started work without giving estimate (my mistake). The repairman was one of the two who had installed the original ceiling fan months before. ( Light on fan was to dim). Repairman had to read the installation instructions to install the fan, which seemed ironic, the last time they installed the fan the other repairman had the fan installed in 1 hour. This time it took the repairman 2 hours to install the fan, and tighten a wire on wall outlet. I asked for the bill and was told $110. per hour, for one man, this seemed high since it took this guy two hours to do the same job as was done last time in one hour, also two men worked on it last time and very little reading of instructions was required. I paid $220 for the same work, and was told Deane electric was owned by new person. It would have been nice if I was told from the beginning that the other service man was not with the company anymore, that the company was sold and that the cost went up. With this knowledge I would have looked for another company. I had Chosen Deane Electric as my go to company for all electric repairs or installations, because of the work they did in April, and because of the person who is not working there anymore. ( Its my fault not getting an estimate) I will not do business with this company again. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. read more

I would offer this company zero stars if possible. I was recommended for them to fix a meter. When I tried to reach them, the voicemail said they were overwhelmed and asked to leave a text message to make an appt. I couldn't go into the whole situation as I needed to actually speak with someone, so I wrote what I could via text as seen below. I've been having issues with TXU and couldn't put all of my father's personal information in a text that I didn't know was secure or not, or what the issues were. This was not due to a lack of payment, but I needed to explain that to someone in person. Below is the text exchange. Their response is appalling. I don't normally leave poor ratings because I know how hard it is to run a small business and deal with customers. However, I received this from the owner today: "Here is your paid receipt. I regret ever doing this job for you. You and your wife are very rude people. Its (SIC) been a displeaseure (SIC) Please never call my company again." The owner gave me a reasonable quote of $2,200, but we were later surprised to learn that our tenant was to be charged $220 from Oncor to dis/reconnect the power. We got past that and the next snag was that Deane Electric's work did not pass the city inspection because the owner was not aware of the city code requiring modern smoke detectors. I am not one to unfairly profit at someone else's expense and for that reason agreed to pay yet another $350 for the smoke detectors. While the owner agreed to pay the $220 Oncor charge, he did not adjust his final bill to me and presented me with a delinquent invoice with his last communication. In short, the owner deliberately underbid the cost of the project by concealing the inherent Oncor fees and ignoring the costs of the additional work required by city code. His office staff was unknowledgeable, rude, and simply ineffective. I do not intend to contact this company again, except in the event that his work proves to be sub-par in which case I will demand redress. read more

I do the same with my garage door customers. Not just 'fix it and go'. All of Jonn Deane's techs that have come to my aid have done the same, including John himself on a Saturday when I was stuck with two unhappy ,overheated ladies and his guys were overloaded with repairs . On 24 July 2023, I was living in Oklahoma about to move to Texas. The Ac unit at my home that I recently purchased stopped working after a few days. After googling a HVAC company and based off reviews, I called Dean electric & Air conditioning. The tech was late to the appointment time, was brash and unpleasant to deal with (According to my tenant) was here for 9 minutes (and a few seconds) and after spraying my outdoor unit with my garden hose, comes inside takes a temp reading and says the unit is working fine. Then I get a Invoice for $95 the next day. The AC unit didn't work the next day and I called another company to check it out. I was told, the indoor unit was 10 years newer than the outdoor unit and it operates on a different type of refrigerant. The units are now cross contaminated, and non functioning (edit: dean did not cross contaminate the system, this was the exhausting unit in the house tht I purchased). Also, the system is 1 ton too small for the size of the home (it was a 3 ton unit for 1900+ square feet). I paid the other company to put in a brand new unit of appropriate size for the home and have had ZERO issues. After a bit of research and asking friends in the industry, The other company was 100% correct. So I called Dean electric and told them I will not pay their "service" fee for something they clearly did not do. The gentleman on the phone said I understand and sorry we missed that. Then A month later (today) they call me again to get the invoice paid. So I tell the woman (being brash and unpleasant like their tech), that I talked to some one and refuse to pay. She promptly said I'm lying and she is the ONLY person to pick up the phone. Apparently she did not like that very much and interrupted me told me to have a nice day and promptly hung up on me. That's really what sparked this review. I do understand people can miss things but this was absurd. They show a 3 star rating on here and 1 star on BBB.... read more

I had a new AC unit, both inside and outside, installed at my home in July 2020. September 2020, I had to make a service call because the unit was cutting off once the inside of the home reached 70 degrees. The technician advised me to pour bleach down the drain to flush out the unit. This was a temporary fix and here is is May 2021 and the problem has continued. after the technician drained the excess water from the unit, he advised that I need to use better filters, have the coils cleaned for $150 today, and air the house out once a week. All these excuses for why the DEFECTIVE unit isn't properly operating are outlandish. Once I made my thought clear to the owner, John Dean, he texted and told me I was an idiot and I'm suppose to have a brain. Please find quality hvac services elsewhere. A few weeks back my mother had a broken AC and needed it done ASAP. It was during the weekend and was in need of the 24/7 emergency service. Got a hold of the owner/main HVAC technician, and was given an acceptable price. However, when I told him my mom will go with the service, he says he can no longer do it. Won't come to Temple. Now mind you my mom had to go 3 days with no working air and to find someone else, who did great services!! I do not recommend this company!! Horrible!! read more

I live in Temple, TX tell me why Deane Electric has taken their sweet time in fixing my A-Cole unit to my HVAC that had been out since May 19, 2019. I have had 3 other service calls for that unit with Deane Electric and pretty much told I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. I went with Moore Air, they identified the issue when they first came out. Wanted to fix it the second time I called them which was May 19, 2019. My Home Warranty wanted to use Deane Electric because they had a secondhand part that isn't a Lenox part but can be used in MY HVAC UNIT. It is May 28, 2019. It got to 90 degrees in my house and I have two small children, one with a heart problem. But the home warranty nor did Deane Electric give a crap about that. So I had to wait till May 28, 2019 to call because it is after the Memorial Day weekend. I call, I give my name and wanting an update on my service call that I made May 19, 2019 to Moore Air, but Moore Air already figured out the problem, gave my home warranty the invoice and my home warranty found Deane Electric that could use a part (not a Lenox part) but a secondary part to fix my HVAC unit. When I called today May 28, 2019, John from Deane Electric picked up. He was so rude and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about when I gave my name and told him I wanted an update on an invoice that was put it last week. The way he treated me, was uncalled for, because he doesn't understand how long I have been fighting this. This is my 8 service call on my HVAC unit since I bought the house not even a year ago. It will be a year June 24,2019 and the fact that I had Deane Electric guys come out and lie to me and calling me stupid and saying that I spent to much time in my house and realized in the end my HVAC unit shouldn't be running for 6 hours straight. I would not recommend Deane's Electric to anyone with kids and a husband who is deployed, because these people will treat you like the scum of the earth. All they care about is MONEY! They don't even deserve a star for the way they treated me, as a veteran, my husband who is active and was deployed during this whole "game" called: "where can I get myself a bonus, and make money for the company." The fact that I was treated with such sexism in the 3 times that I made my service calls that I had to go through for the "problems" that accrued in my house during my husband's deployment. The repairman, Misa, just left and I was so impressed that I had to immediately write a review. I am in Austin visiting from Colorado and staying with my 90 year old Mom. Much to my dismay I woke up sweating this morning and, being from Colorado, I knew I couldn't make it very long in Austin without air conditioning. My brother in law recommended Deane, and even though they were in Killeen they had Misa here this afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem (the blower motor capacitor was faulty), fixed it, then replaced the filter and cleaned the outside unit for no additional charge. When he gave us the bill I was blown away - it was way less than we were expecting. Even though Misa was here late and still had to drive back to Salado he was very pleasant and took his time to answer all of my mom and my questions. My mom, who is very picky, and I would both highly recommend Deane to anyone who wants quality, professional, friendly, and fairly priced service. read more

I just recently used Deane Electric for a variety of jobs at my house. They put in 28 LED recessed lights, put light fixtures up, added 2 flood lights to the outside of our home and put in 7 ceiling fans. Ron and his helper Shawn were the best electricians I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They were professional, fast, cleaned up after themselves and did what I asked of them. John (the owner) showed extreme patience when helping me out on my design plan. We had changed plans a few times on the lighting.
