I have not eaten here in decades! Really good Italian food is pretty hard to find. The stand out part of the evening by far was the service! Our waitress was amazing! She took care of so many tables that I honestly don't know how she did it. The restaurant is cute inside, definitely rustic. The salad was fresh, which was nice. The children parm was alright. The best part about it was definitely that it wasn't bad crispy. The pasta was from a box and unfortunately the marinara was just not good. The best thing I ate was definitely the cookie but that was most certainly outsourced from somewhere else. They don't do a real tea service with a selection of teas, neither do they offer cream or lemon. It is just a Lipton tea bag and hot water. Came on a recommendation and ordered the prime rib. Different from Texas style (no smoke, and it's seared after it's sliced), but really well seasoned ... which is rare in the Capital Region. Multiple empty dirty tables that weren't bussed the entire time we were there but to be fair only two servers working. Almost 50-75% of the menu is crossed off with permanent marker or pen meaning they no longer serve those items, not that they were "out" for the day. Garlic bread and fried mushrooms were burnt. Fried mushrooms and calamari were obviously frozen from a bag. Kids ravioli was cold. Sauce was from a can. Visited a little over a year ago and everything was great so quality has gone wayyyyy down. I do not see this at all as a front of house staff problem but 100% a management problem. read more

My ceasar salad was grainy from lettuce not being washed. I ordered haddock francese and the fish was lower quality cod and not haddock at all! My husband's vodka sauce tasted like the sauce in a can pf spaghettios. Altho the server was pleasant she forgot what we requested, twice. And although they removed the cost my salad from our check, I would not return. It's just another restaurant that not only serves quantity over quality, but misrepresents what you can get. read more

Have been a few times. Often service is as aware as Stevie Wonder on ice. The food is hit or miss. Pasta is usually safe. Ordered a steak and they made it well done. Then the cook tells manager that it was a medium steak and I cant tell due to the lighting. Dont piss on my foot and tell me it is raining. Needless to say they refused to remake even after I said I would change to a medium rare if it made it easier on the cook. Will never return to that restaurant. Dont waste your time and money there. I must say that I was not sure what to expect when I first came to this restaurant. I've heard a couple people tell me that they've enjoyed the food so I decided that I would give it a try with my wife. When we got there it was a pretty small place and unfortunately because it's very small it's extremely loud. The food was delicious though and we ended up getting the Tour of Italy which comes with chicken parm, lasagna, eggplant parm, big plate of spaghetti, stuff manicotti and an antipasto salad along with fresh made garlic bread, also came with stuffed shrimp and stuff clams. This was all for around $40. I thought the antipas salad was a bit too spicy for me but my wife absolutely loved it and I wasn't truly fond of the stuffed shrimp stuffed clams dish but the rest was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend that you try it out if you're ever in the area. One thing I will say you will definitely need to make reservations because that little place packs up quick and if you don't have a reservation you're probably not getting in. The parking lot is also small as well so sometimes you can't even park in the parking lot You have to go and park down the road in order to get into the place which is inconvenient especially when it's cold. read more

We happened upon Deangelos on a lose recommendation from a local friend and we were completely taken aback! We were jonesing some heavy, traditional American Italian fare and wanted a well prepared, familiar meal...and boy the crew here did not disappoint! Some of the best veal piccata I've ever had and my best bud had the beans and greens special and both were out of this world. The kids loved the sauces and portions were spot on. The attentive and friendly staff were a joy and didn't sweat it when our 6 year old accidentally dumped his juice. They were fun and on it even during a busy Saturday night dinner service. The dining room was lively, but not loud. Just enough to carry on a conversation, but not worry about occasional boisterousness from the three kids. Can't wait to go back...we'll make the trip from Rensselaer County anytime! read more

We had a great dinner at DeAngelo's Ristorante after watching a full afternoon of hard hitting NFL playoff games. We were hungry and in a celebratory mood after one heated AFC game. My "local friends" back home won't be pounding their chests this year, hehe. DeAngelo's Ristorante is a good family restaurant open at 4PM daily serving Italian American cuisine at reasonable prices and generous portions are given. The atmosphere inside is very inviting. Upon entering, the place has a cozy lounge/bar area with TVs and a comfortable dining room with wood trim, brick walls, holiday string lights, warm fireplace, and lots of moving dolls & snowmen. We were greeted as we entered and we could sit anywhere we like, so we sat in the dining room near the fireplace. It took us a few moments to look over the extensive menu which offers pasta dishes, parmigianas, steaks, seafood, chicken, prime rib, appetizers, pizza, hot sandwiches, salads, and children's menu. Specials are offered as well. Most entree prices are $9.95-$17.95 with a handful over $20 and entrees come with salad and bread. There is a $2 sharing plate charge. The Tour of Italy for Two ($28.95) sounded really good, which includes small antipasta, chicken parmigiana, lasagna, manicotti, eggplant, stuffed shrimp, clams casino, broccoli and bread. We were given a basket of hot buttery garlic bread, crisp outside, which was really good. The salads served on small glass plates were included with the dinners, a fresh mix of lettuce, baby tomato slices, cucumber slice, croutons, and creamy dressings on the side. For an appetizer, we had the Fried Calamari ($7.95) which were tender calamari rings with a crunchy breading, slightly greasy. These calamari were not Italian style (no marinara sauce), but American style fried calamari served with cocktail sauce for dipping, similar to what I'd get at a seafood restaurant on the east coast. For dinner, my friend had the Chicken Sorrentino ($15.95) with a baked potato & sour cream (his choice). The chicken sorrentino portion was huge which had layers of eggplant, cheeses, breaded chicken, and sauce baked in the oven. I went with the Linguine with Red Clam Sauce ($14.95) which had lots of soft minced clams, little necks, chunky tomatoes, on top of a mound of linguine cooked just right and plenty of clam broth and lots of parsley sprinkles. The cook took the little necks out of the shell before serving since the shells were cracking. Both dishes were very tasty and filling. Both of us needed to go boxes for the leftovers. We passed on dessert since the only offerings were cheesecake, carrot cake, and black satin cake, no tiramisu or cannolis offered as we were hoping for after a good Italian meal. The service was good and the food came out in a timely fashion. The check including one Diet Coke ($1.75) came out to $43.85 with tax and before tip. Walked in and was seated, our waitress (I was celebrating my husband's birthday), I wanted so much to go right, but so much went wrong. From the idiot waitress forgetting the appetizer ( she wrote it down,but apparently couldn't read. To the main course ( scallops) being so salty that you would tear from the amount of salt they put into one dish. To the rude and horrible bartender, to no manager on a Friday night. Over all, a horrible experience, that you wanted so badly to just be able to go out on your husband's birthday, but not there at all. I will never go back there, but you can be sure, that tomorrow or Monday, the manager will hear a mouth full, the mouth full I could barely swallow. The staff is alway friendly and on top of everything. Gianna the manager is so sweet and does a wonderful job running this restaurant. UPDATE 5/2020 - I have been back a few more times since the bad experience and I'm upgrading my review. The food has been consistently good now and staff I've dealt with always pleasant. I would recommend trying it! Sad to say goodbye to one of our favorite restaurants after a bad experience tonight! We have given multiple chances and always try to understand when our dinner is not up to par but tonight was the worst! Three steak dinners over cooked and the manager was downright rude! The only good thing about it was the wait staff who were wonderful. We brought friends from out of town there and we were mortified by this experience. My husband and I went here on a whim on a Friday evening. We knew this place had been around but we just never stopped in. We decided to eat at the bar for a less informal meal. At first glance it's not very glitzy and glamorous but more homey and cozy. The bar area does have two large TVs if you're into that. The bartender was very attentive very nice and talkative which we like. They have a nice menu with a good selection and garlic bread was brought to the table. they advertise a chicken Parmesan night on Tuesday nights for $10.99 so we travel 25 miles down to Schenectady to try their it but as we enter the restaurant and noticed that the dining room was less than half full, we were told that every seat was reserved for a large party, and that we could wait Which you know would be approximately two hours because most the people we're not even there yet or we could have a seat at the bar, which there were none. So we never got to try their meal. Then, when I left a comment about This on their Facebook page, they took it down. If they hadn't taken it down, I wouldn't be writing on yelp. with all the restaurants struggling you would think they would do more to try to accommodate their customers. I'm very tempted to assign 4 stars to this restaurant but I gave it a demerit for reasons described below. Not a big deal really. This is a good, solid, neighborhood joint. It is situated between a family-tavern and a more expensive Italian restaurant. Most of the menu items don't exceed $20. Four of us ate for $155 (tip included). We each had two drinks, two appetizers for the table, and our own entree. The clams casino appetizer was very good. It seemed homemade -- I forgot to ask. The calamari appetizer, however, was a little substandard. They seemed factory made. They were rings only, no tentacles. They seemed to have a factory coating on them that was too brown; the rings were too uniform in diameter and thickness. Moreover, they didn't provide lemon wedges. They were otherwise properly cooked and paired with a marinara sauce. They were good. My entree was veal Parma. It was ok. On the plus side, it wasn't cut too thin -- I hate when it is. The portion was average size. The coating was a little too crunchy and brown, indicating perhaps that is was over fried, but still very good. The sauce was chunky but not over-herbed; otherwise, clean tasting. Our two friends had chicken Parma, which looked even better than my veal, and stuffed haddock which looked superb. He thoroughly enjoyed his fish. I just might order this next time. My wife had shrimp over linguine. She liked her dinner. My side dish of pasta, rigatoni, was overcooked and ripped. I also wanted a side dish of escarole and beans, or raabies, but they don't serve them. Very odd. It's just as well; they probably would have them off to the side all day, gray and bland, like Sam's restaurant in Albany. I knock off a star for these deficiencies. The pizza they serve looks very good. For Friday night pizza and beer, this looks like the place. 4 Stars. Anyone in Schenectady knows this place. After 6 pm, the place is full of patrons. This restaurant is worth a 25 minute drive. It's right off the Thruway and I-890. read more

Some of the best Italian food I've ever had. I had the stuffed shells, boyfriend had the eggplant and veal Marsala, IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS- highly recommended. Both dishes came with a side salad, and we ordered the cheese garlic bread- on the menu it says "3 pieces" the dish came out and it must've been 3 huge Slices cut into 3, SO MUCH BREAD BUT SO GOOD! We had dinner and beers for under $50. It was pretty busy with only one waitress working in the dining area and she was excellent. Took half the food home. This place gets all 5 stars! I'm giving them two stars because the waitstaff is so nice. Other than that, I'd like to know who's idea it was to reconstitute the burned sauce. Growing up with an Italian mother and grandmother doing all the cooking, I'm very particular as to where I go for Italian food. Friends raved about Deangelos parm night, so I thought we'd give it a try. One taste of the sauce and I instantly knew it had burned sometime throughout the day and rather than throwing it away, a lot of water was added to it and it was served any way. Bleh! No matter how much sauce I scrapped off the chicken, that terrible burned flavor followed everywhere. When the waitress saw I didn't eat more than a few bites, she did ask if she could replace it. I explained that unless the sauce was from a new batch that hadn't been burned, it was pointless. Sad that yet another restaurant claiming to be Italian doesn't have the first clue. Nothing authentic here folks - just good bread, friendly waitstaff and burned sauce. read more

We went there for dinner tonight. There were only 4 tables with diners when we arrived. Two servers were on duty. After almost 10 minutes of being ignored, we managed to catch the eye of one of the servers who was busy chatting it up with another diner about her Thanksgiving pies. She finally approached our table with attitude and asked "Do you people need something"? When we told her we would like service, she dismissed us by saying that the second server (who was nowhere to be found) was supposed to wait on us, and she'd be out soon. What she should have done was take our drink order and then let the other server know that she had diners waiting. We waited another minute and left. We won't go back. Obviously, some serious customer service training is needed. I have no idea if a manager or owner was even around. If they were, shame on them. read more
