Everyone at our table received their food in a timely manner--except me. I ordered the hamachi kama and was told it would take about 20 minutes to bake, which I was completely fine with. However, after waiting... and waiting... and watching my entire family finish their meals, we were then told my order had been messed up because the restaurant got backed up and busy and would take another 10-15 minutes. At that point, nearly everyone was done eating, so I asked for my meal to be boxed to-go. We spoke with a manager, Chris, who apologized and told us the meal would be comped--which felt like an appropriate resolution given the situation. But after sitting there for almost TWO HOURS total, my husband and son went to follow up, only to be told that my order had been completely canceled. The reasoning? That they "weren't going to comp something and let you walk out with free food." That response was honestly shocking. I never asked for anything extra--just the meal I ordered, even if it had to be to-go at that point. Instead, I left without eating at all. The lack of communication, the excessive wait, and the way the situation was handled at the end completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. Really disappointing experience. We didn't even want to order the desserts we planned on ordering because at that point, they didn't deserve another dollar. The environment would've been enjoyable if we weren't focused on food missing and the lack of customer service.

My husband Richard and I were going to go to Panda Express for our 40th wedding anniversary. But…read morethey were too busy for our liking. So, we were still craving asian cuisine, and Richard suggested we go to Moto. When we walked in we were greeted by the host and led to our table. Our nice waitress took our drink orders and then we looked at the menu for an appetizer. We decided on the Firecracker Shrimp and the Pork Dumplings. The firecracker shrimp and pork dumplings were packed with flavor and had a pleasant kick of heat. Then we ordered our entrees. I ordered Yakiniku and Richard got the Emperor combo. Our food arrived and looked absolutely delicious. we started to dig in. About 20 minutes later Richard's stomach made a rumble. He promptly rose from his chair and made a beeline to the restroom. He was in the restroom for around for 20 minutes. When he came back he said he was ready to go and said he wasn't in the mood for dessert. So, we paid, left a nice tip for our outstanding service and went back home. Richard's stomach hurt for the rest of the night. We really liked the staff and service and Moto's but the food just didn't sit right with Richard's stomach.

The owners are some of the kindest people I know. After years of coming over to the restaurant I've gotten to know them better and become good friends with them. They are such hard workers. The food is very authentic Japanese food. The sushi is amazing and the selection of fishes that they have is great! I've had almost all of the rolls throughout my visits to the restaurant and I've loved all of them. It's a lovely little family owned restaurant that has my whole heart. I would recommend it for anybody who wants an authentic Japanese meal. Most authentic Japanese restaurant in the tri-cities in my opinion.

Frick... We got 3 different types of sushi rolls including variations of rainbow and volcano and the tiger... nothing was good. It was all kind of mushy in texture which grossed us out. The chicken bento my husband got was literally inedible and he left it untouched. The beef udon broth had a really odd flavor than we are used to so I didn't care for it and the noodles felt undercooked. The edamame was great though and the miso was lacking in flavor but still edible. Service was good other than she didn't seem to notice how bad everything was for us.

Found Cobo on Yelp and decided the pictures of the sushi looked decent. And honestly it's just that... mediocre sushi and tapas. I would call this more of an artisan sushi bar rather than authentic sushi. I guess you can say we've been spoiled with our sushi expectations as we live in the Iredell County area which is between Charlotte and Winston for authentic sushi. The service was super slow due to how busy they are and how small their sushi set up area is so I can't really blame them for being so packed and one of the only maybe three sushi joints in Boone. The server did make sure to keep our drinks filled and checked on us, however, he wasn't much help when it came to recommendations on the menu as he didn't seem to really eat sushi (do not hold that against him) He was honest when we asked him about the mackerel roll and said he's been told is super fishy which it is since it's pickled mackerel rather than fresh. The udon noodles were the furthest thing from being udon. Instead they were a flat stir fry rice noodles so that was really disappointing. The only thing that was really good was the Japan Poppers those I highly recommend trying if you like stuffed jalapeño poppers! I don't think we'd be back to Cobo simply due to the lack of authenticity and overpriced food and drinks.
