My wife and I have been going to this establishment for many years. This is the first real complaint that I have and I hope this is read as constructive criticism from a person who really likes this restaurant. First of all My wife and I sat at a table for well over an hour watching people who got served that were here half hour after us. When I asked the waitress about this she said in a snooty tone, food is served in the order it was received. If you forgot to put in our order I understand and if you simply stated that I would have done my best to just have patience and wait for my meal. Secondly when my breakfast finally arrived it was wrong and I can say this time the quality was close to inedible. This entire experience was unacceptable. It just took the good morning that I was having and stepped on it and it appeared nobody really cared. I left the restaurant this morning upset and hungry. So now what I get to do is on a Sunday morning when I ask my wife where we would like to go for breakfast we go through the list of places that we would like to and now you're not at the top of that list. That is very unfortunate. I sure hope something changes. read more

I hate to do this but be careful on to go orders or any orders that are served on red and white checkered paper. I'm new to the area and been eating here for the past 3 months. I would say I've eaten here about 15 times and 12 of the orders have been to go omelet orders. Today I noticed some orange coloring on my omelet. I looked in the omelet and didn't see anything that could cause the egg to be orange. I turned the omelet upside down, and noticed the entire bottom of the omelet had absorbed the ink from from the checkered paper lining the styrofoam to go box. My omelet actually had absorbed the checkered pattern in its entirety. I called the diner to let them know, and the person who answered was casual about it like it was no big deal. She told me the cooks know not to use the paper except on burgers and such. At that point she told me they would comp me a meal the next time I was in and let the cooks know. I got a bit angry because all my omelet togo orders were lined with this paper, and as far as I'm concerend I've been eating omelets absorbed in ink. I also thought what items might absorb ink? Salads, hot fries, ketchup, anything with a condiment base? Of course my other thought was if they knew about the problem and all my breakfast orders were served on this paper what else are they not paying attention to and why are they still using this paper?? I wish I could break the rating scale with this place. 5/5 stars does not do it justice. This place is DELICIOUS. Like holy cow! My family met up near Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival (per annual tradition), and the air bnb we stayed at recommended this place for breakfast. Happily, we obliged. The waitress was super friendly and talkative. She was also prompt and expedient. We ordered chicken fried steak which was cooked the best I have ever seen (pink in the middle still and you could cut it w a fork). We got eggs Benedict on biscuits and a salmon eggs Benedict - both of which melted in your mouth (I almost licked the plate). We also ordered the hash and it was nearly the best thing I have ever eaten. The food was amazing. AMAZING. I would almost make the 4 hour trip just to eat there again! read more

I walked over for lunch while waiting for local service. It has been a while since I have been there. I was greeted promptly and sat at the counter ( I was alone and didn't want to hog a table or booth. I ordered a "John Wayne burger " with onion rings and a soda. I had a terrible experience at Debby's diner this morning, and it had nothing to do with the food. My family stopped at the diner to have breakfast and we ordered with our waitress. My dad requested that he not have any hashbrowns or bread and no cheese on his omelet because he is on a very strict diet. She didn't write any of the orders down. Our food came his omelet had a heap of cheese on top and my dad didn't want to say anything. It was clear that he was embarrassed to ask about it but also didn't want to wait for another omelette to be made. But when the bill came, he decided to ask that the omelet be taken off the bill because it had cheese and he had asked for no cheese. That was when things got weird. Our waitress said she didn't hear him asked for no cheese, and my mom and I both said that respectfully we had both heard him asked for no cheese and there was no offense to her, he just shouldn't have to pay for an omelet with cheese when he can't eat it. People make mistakes. The server told us that the manager said it was OK to take two dollars off, but she wouldn't give him the omelet for free. She wouldn't make eye contact and it was clear that she did not tell the manager that SHE had not written down the order or specified not to add cheese, she kept insisting that she didn't hear him. It definitely felt like she was lying and wouldn't own up to her own mistake. On the way out she acted super sugary sweet to us and defensive and shouted "have a LOVELY day" and we were astounded. We had made it very clear that we did not have a good experience, and she did not take care of what was a really simple human mistake, she instead decided to be passive aggressive. None of this has anything to do with the food or the atmosphere. But I hope something is done about it because it felt really embarrassing and awkward. We have all worked in the service industry and forgotten something important. When in doubt, write it down and repeat it :) read more

I've been driving by this place for years. Ate here today for the first time. It won't be the last. The ambiance was fun and cheery. The service was good. My way of judging service is whether or not my water glass is kept full. It is such a menial task that it often isn't taken care of. No problems here. The food was good and the portions were fair, especially for the price. There aren't many places I can get a Denver omelette, stuffed with all the fixings for under $10. We ate here this last Sunday, October 23, 2022. We were celebrating a birthday and there was 6 of us. Two of us ordered the chicken fried steak and gravy with scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuit. Two ordered omelette's, one was french toast. The last one was done type of layered breakfast. The two with omelette's we're bothered immediately by the horrible smell of the cheese. The chicken fried steak was the worse that I have ever had. The meat tasted old, was tough and lacked any flavor. The breading was very little, and the gravy was a white sauce with no flavor. This place is definitely one of the best restaurants in medford. The severs are fantastic. The food is always great! We mainly went here for lunch, but I have heard their breakfast and dinner nights are great also. The decor is classic 50's style and just a delight to see the jukebox. After recently moving to the area, I finally got to step into the 50s era that is Debby's Diner. It was this past Saturday morning and most of the restaurant was full, but there was no wait at the door. It took a little while to get our order in, but once the ball was rolling we did not have long to wait. I thought the coffee could have been stronger, but really enjoyed my food. I like that the menu had the smaller breakfast option and my companion, who always goes for a corn beef hash, was was thrilled that it was on the menu. I am a 10-year old that eats breakfast out with my dad at least once a week. Here is my review. When we walked in it looked a lot like other dinErs I have been to with lots of cool stuff to look at. The hot chocolate had real whip cream but overall was just a little to sweat for me. Pancake was a good standard pancake. Bacon and sausage was pretty good. My dad got shredded hash browns crispy which were really really good. I got scrambled eggs and they were cooked right but I did not eat much. Not an egg fan. My dad said his fried eggs over easy were perfect. In general everything was unseasoned but still good. The biscuit was the only disappointing item. It was like a dense KFC biscuit. It is really had to beat by dads savory biscuits but this biscuits was underwhelming. The service was rEally good. They kept my dads code cup full. I would come back.. it is about a 4 1/4. read more

America's Diners are an iconic symbol of where we all went for breakfast and lunch when we couldn't make it home and Debby's Diner is just that; friendly home atmosphere and superb food like mom would serve except without the aluminum kitchen table. I sat at the counter and watched a very happy staff interact with their customers and top off their coffee. Even the cook was smiling as he repeated every order taken. There were photos of classic cars on the wall and tables full of relaxed and satisfied customers. I ordered the steak skillet, home fries, eggs over medium; perfection. I half expected mom to inquire if I had asked that pretty Johnson girl to the prom yet. I will be back, it's hard to pass up an opportunity for a home cooked breakfast. The pros: clean restrooms, clean dining room, open floor plan, adequate seating The cons: food quality, attitude of server(Sandi), food quantity for the $$ spent. I dont live in the area, but was there for a family function. This cute diner misses the mark on quality of the food and the overall service experience. A.sample of the country/breakfast gravy was misguided. It tasted like instant mashed potatoes, khaki in color and did.not have a gravy like consistency. Parking is also next to impossible. My family and I arrived at Debby's Diner around 10:30am. We were seated and when our waitress asked us what we wanted to drink, my father couldn't quite hear her, so he asked her to repeat herself. She immediately rolled her eyes and looked annoyed that he asked that. We found what we wanted to eat pretty quickly and put our order in around 10:50am. However we waited more than an hour until we got our food. The food didn't get to our table until noon. And the plates were pretty small. My girlfriend and father got French bread, I got a short stack of pancakes, and my cousin got eggs, hash browns, and sausage. So I was quite confused what took so long. I just left Debbie's Diner - hungry - and drove to Elmers where I had a lovely breakfast on which I spent $25. I left Debbie's pretty dissatisfied to say the least. I'm by myself. That does not mean I should have to eat at the very back of the restaurant where it's dark and cold, away from all other customers. When I politely spoke up, saying II was uncomfortable there, I was told why I had to sit there, saving the larger booths for customers who MIGHT come. There were 4 empty booths, all of which have a large light filled window. I was truly offended. I'm not easily offended. Nor have I ever walked out before. For this customer service they deserve zero stars, after all they didn't keep a customer who purposefully chose to eat there. I'm giving them 2 stars because their food is normally good enough to drive down from Medford - but still, the customer service was shockingly poor, and more important than the food. Kind of a 50's retro cafe. We've all seen the type, rock n roll music playing, wold coca-cola signs, waitresses with beehive hairdos etc. Food is ok, nothing great, nothing bad. Service is kinda slow but in today's world of limited help, it's kinda expected in a way. Prices are not too bad. All in all not a bad spot amongst limited choices. I have been to Debby's diner since the new owners bought it at least 15 times. The food has always been delicious and the waitresses have always been kind and very observant. Great spot for breakfast! I can't give too accurate of a review, since I've only had the breakfast food. It's right down the street from my house and their pancakes and waffles are wonderful. The inside is very clean and neat, and creates a nice 50s atmosphere. The waiters help this atmosphere by being friendly and personable. I've had several omelets and am always please to find fresh veggies used rather than frozen, out of the bag stuff. Some of the best french fries in town along with a great selection of burgers.
