Elmer's just dropped from a five star to a two star because they refused to serve me. Why? Because I wanted to take the food home to my family. Not everyone is able to dine in! The dine in experience is only good when you wish to dine in, it's not full of screaming kids and you have good service, I can't say about the screaming kids but the service is Non-existent. Elmer's used to be one of my favorite places but now I recommend IHOP read more

It was our first time here (we're visiting from California), and I'm literally writing this review while still eating because it's that good. We've been to places like Black Bear Diner, Denny's, Norms - you name it. But I have to say, Elmer's is hands down the best restaurant experience I've had in a long time. The food quality is unbeatable. My mom - who is both a picky eater and a tough critic - was raving about the salad before the entrées even arrived. She ordered the omelette and kept saying how fresh and flavorful everything tasted. Nothing processed, nothing overly salted - just clean, delicious food. My dad, on the other hand, got the 9 oz prime rib. He's usually a big talker, but he went completely quiet while eating. For him, that's the highest compliment - when he's too busy savoring every bite to waste time on words. The service was impeccable. There seemed to be only one waiter/host, yet he was attentive, kind, patient, and made sure our waters were always full. We felt seen and cared for the whole time. I don't know if it's just an Oregon thing, but the hospitality here is unmatched - and the food matches it. My mom is already planning her next meal here for the next time we travel out of state. Elmer's Restaurant. Five Stars. But, at the same time, One Star. My wife and I like Elmer's Restaurant, but we were stunned today to see another couple walking to their table WITH THEIR DOG. Yes, inside the restaurant. The waitresses are not to be blamed, because they are caught in the middle of this whole thing. And it's a tough situation for the franchise owner. But if the city and county really DO care about public health, then highly visible signs need to be mandated for food establishments here in Grants Pass. This new trend of folks bringing their dogs into grocery stores and restaurants has now reached the insanity point. It's apparently become fashionable to do this, but it's in violation of Oregon state law, and businesses that sell food need to be in compliance. Genuine service dogs are the exception, but that is not what this is about. It's people bringing their PETS into places that are selling or serving food. And if a bite were to take place? A patron could legally sue the business out of existence. "The Oregon Health Authority emphasizes that allowing non-service animals in food establishments can pose health risks. This includes potential disease transmission and hygiene issues. Therefore, restaurants must maintain strict compliance with these regulations to ensure a safe dining environment for all patrons. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)". read more

The service was awesome. We were there when they opened. The coffee was mediocre, but hot on a cold November morning. The triple berry pancake and bacon were delicious. Rolled into town for business and was craving the German pancake here and man oh man it did not disappoint! I ordered the combo with eggs and bacon, and my husband ordered the hungry rancher and we shared everything. All the meats are delightful! Bacon is great, ham is one of the best, and sausage is nice. The eggs are cooked to perfection as ordered, and the hashbrowns were crispy and tasty. The biscuit is so dang soft and pillowy, to die for! And of course, my beloved German pancake with powdered sugar, butter, and lemon is the star of the show! It's majestic! Coffee was extra strong and we loved that. We really liked this place. The avocado Benedict was so fresh n tasty and have you ever seen German pancakes served anywhere else? I haven't..not even in Germany (ok..didn't really look too hard with the Christmas markets having too much good food!!) but you should really try them here! Got the traditional one and the melding of powdered sugar and lemon was like breakfast sweet tarts! Sooo yummy ! You will not be disappointed! This will be a regular stop when in Grants Pass again! read more

Elmers is an Oregon diner chain. It is reliable, tasty and with good service. Their clientele tends towards the gray hair side, but that's okay by me because I am gray haired. Was so pleased to drive into Grants Pass and see a sign announcing the local Elmer's . We walked in and were greeted warmly and seated. This was at one minute before CLOSING time. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT FOOD WAS GREAT I hadn't even seen an Elmers in 40 years. They once had a restaurant and some franchise offices in my hometown of Napa, CA I had many fond memories of that place. One of my old friends had even been a cook there when we were teens. Please patronize this business. Their infrastructure is a bit worn, but they understand the meaning of Hospitality. I was pleasantly surprised by this experience! I was staying at a motel next door, and was too tired to drive around looking for a place to eat dinner. I checked out the menu online, and had already decided on breakfast for dinner before I walked through the door. I was quickly seated and was impressed by the friendly service and comfortable, quiet atmosphere. I ordered the Stuffed Hash Browns, which included the aforementioned hash browns, along with a biscuit and seasonal fruit. The hash browns were thick shredded potatoes with cheesy scrambled eggs, stuffed with chopped up sausage and bacon, all topped with country gravy. I noticed and appreciated that they used Northwest products, like Tillamook Cheddar and Zenner's sausage. It was a delicious meal! Everything was well seasoned and fresh-tasting. The biscuit was also surprising good, soft and with a great flavor. The fruit was simple, just banana, grapes and pineapple, but it hit the spot. I had the breakfast bowl. Pretty good, but a bit salty in spots. Also, I know they want to be different in their choices, but it would be easier to eat if you just tip the bowl empty onto the plate and eat it that way so you don't have to dig for bites. I'd do it again, though. Right off the fwy and it was 7 am so I had room in the parking lot for my truck/ trailer. read more

I took myself to Elmer's for my birthday. My late husband always took me there for prime rib and I wanted to still treat myself. It was the worst meat I've had in my entire life . It looked good . Rather pink. But it was the most tasteless tough horrible prime rib I've had by far. I have a torn rotator cuff and my shoulder was hurting so bad by the time I finished it , from having to saw through it, that I had to drive home one-handed . Even a mediocre prime rib should be able to be easily cut with a plastic knife ! I may go to Elmer's for one last chance for them to prove themselves to be the restaurant I always knew them to be for breakfast, but I'll never order premium again . It was a terrible end to a very sad birthday. read more

I love Elmers..... it's those potato cakes that bring me back..... Again & Again!!! It's always nice to see a familiar food place when your traveling out of State..... that's what Elmers is to me... I didn't realize that Oregon allows casinos in all of the restaurants.... We only have one Elmer's in California that I'm aware of and it does not have gambling.... But it does have good food..... Our Server was very polite, and our food came out pretty quick..... Restrooms could use a little update but overall they did a great job!!!! read more

We had breakfast 2 mornings in a row. 1st morning Kaitlyn was our server /bartender . Very sweet and friendly. Our food and drinks were amazing. Great service for sure. Unfortunately, I have not been able to visit family, or Elmer's, in over a year. As with all of my previous visits, the Elmer's staff was very friendly and helpful. Melissa recognized me and ensured that I had plenty of water for my medical condition and Teresa provided excellent customer service in taking and delivering my Ham & Tillamook Cheese Omelette. I hope to return for lunch before I leave for my favorite sandwich of all time: the Cascade Club! read more

The order was placed by phone for pick up. Service on phone friendly. Pick up service friendly as well. Order was ready-large order. Most everything was good and decent portions on the seafood baskets. The Cobb salad looked nothing like picture online. However it had a lot of fresh items just not much avocado as seen online and the ranch dressing was plentiful but tasteless. It was a decent salad but the chicken was hard and not very meaty. Otherwise all good will try again probably inside. read more

Wife had a breakfast bowl looked like all the meat left over from the day before, I had the omelette with crab meat that I only found in my last bite, 2 coffee and It was $50. The only warn thin was the second cup of coffee but no wonder since the inside temp was only 67 degree. At home I have to blow on the food to be able to eat it. read more

Our seating was in the bar downstairs which was very busy and noisy which was ok for 2 of us unfortunately 2 of our party were deaf and that was an issue for visiting. Our dinners: clam linguine, small clams in butter wine sauce was good, lots of broth and noodles could have had more clams. Dinner salads were great, big, crisp and fresh. Hubby had the meatballs with whipped potatoes, not a big meal but very tasty. I often buy ribeye steaks at the Cartwright's market and they are wonderful. Cartwright's owns Taprock restaurant so I figured that's the steak they'd serve but no it was thin and tough like a top round steak, it was cooked med rare that I ordered. It wasn't cheap, won't order again. Margaritas were very good. Service was excellent and there was lots of hired help in all areas. Our waitress was attentive, personable and we enjoyed her service.

The caprese salad was excellent with fresh flavorful burrata, cherry tomatoes lightly dressed in oil and garlic, balanced balsamic, arugula, microgreens, and edible flowers -- thoughtful and elevated. The bacon-wrapped filet special was one of the most tender steaks I've had in a long time, and we were told it came from a local butcher. The mahi mahi tacos were juicy and well-cooked, though warm or toasted tortillas would make them even better. It would be great to see more detail on the menu about local sourcing. As a visitor, that makes the experience feel even more special. Looking forward to stopping in again someday!
